updated to new version, i get an error message "Phone Model Not Found" 'My Account application is designed only for T-Mobile Android supported phones. We're working on a solution for unsupported phones.'. is anyone getting this? my phone is rooted and running Cyanogen ROM. called TMobile and they could not resolve this issue.
Try removing app reboot and reinstalling? Haven't heard of this problem and mine works fine..
Same issue CM 3.9.2
i called TMO and they told me to uninstall and reinstall. same problem. I didn't have the guts to tell the Tmo rep that my phone was rooted...so they could not resolve this issue..though my friend who works for TMo says they don't care if your phone is rooted...i might just give them a call tomorrow again..
Umm, not reccomended, I talked to a customer svc rep on my 4th warranty swap and to try to bypass all t he retarded troubleshooting told him id reverted it back to rc 29 to try to fix it.... he took that to mean id rootesd it and started the process of voiding my warranty... :-((( I immeadeatly asked to speak to a supervisor and told him id only reloaded the stock rc29 rom and that in no way an official firmware should touch my warranty he aggreed and told me they'd be explicitly checking my phone for 3rd party mods..... I wasn't an happy panda....
On another incident I spoke to a much cooler rep and mentioned installing an app id found here on xda, he immeadeatly warned me 3rd party mods void my warranty and I clarified by saying it was only an application not a ROM....
Maybe I get the dickheads or my call center is just on the watch for it or what I had a t-mo store assoc. Tell me that no software ROMS firmware etc could void the warranty, only hard mods eg. Opening the phone
This problem is discussed extensively in this thread along with some potential fixes.

Throw them off their game by asking which Primus article or Streamline path indicates that a flashed ROM will void your warranty. Seriously - I know of no such policy. Of course, maybe I'm just to generous. You tell me what I want to hear and I'll send out a phone (assuming I know it not to be a stupid problem like no memory left on a blackberry, etc)...
But seriously I keep hearing on forums like this people talk about voiding your warranty with rooting, but I don't see anything in policy. I'd like to know if anyone has ever been charged the $100 OOW fee due to a rooted phone?
Hey everyone !
This is my life :
I received my new Xiaomi Mi 8 on wednesday, I bought it on Gearbest.
The bootloader was unlocked, so I just looked for the MIUI 10 release on Xiaomi's website.
When I flashed it on my device with MiFlash, I accidentally re-locked my bootloader because the choice is checked by default. No big deal, at that point.
Then, I restarted my phone, but the OS won't start, the recovery showed up with an arror : "this MIUI version can't be installed on this device".
Why ? I didn't knew at first, but I guess my smartphone had MIUI's chinese version, not global.
So I just have to flash the chinese MIUI 10 version, isn't it ? No ! I have to unlock first.
So I looked at the bootloader unlock instructions : download the app, enter your ID, plug the phone, click on unlock...
No problem until this error shows up at 99% : "current account is not bound to this device".
So what do I have to do ? Link my phone to my Xiaomi account. How ? By going on the phone's settings. **** ! My phone is bricked, I can't do that.
Then, after hours of research, I found only two solutions : 1. open the phone, 2. get an EDL account
But there was no way I open the phone and risk physically destroying it so I looked for all ways to get a Xiaomi EDL authorized account.
The russian topic is closed, I tried another one, no answer for now. I contacted Xiaomi by 3 different e-mail addresses, the only answer is : contact Gearbest.
But I waited one month for this phone, I don't want to wait one more month, or two !
Then I was willing to pay S-Unlock to give me one, but when I visited their website and talked to them, they don't look like serious.
You, dear user, is the only one that can save my life today, by lending me your EDL authorized Xiaomi account, in order to unlock my bootloader again. Just once. Please, help me.
I will be very grateful
Thank you !
Well, between the Russian words that the author didn't even translated, I saw "TeamViewer", so, no.

He needs teamviewer to help you authenticate.... But okay lol, then i guess u have to go with s-unlock, although it is not 100% successful (saw a post around here where a dude had a lot of problems). Honestly, just an advice, that dude is reliable and beggers cant be choosers.... ATB my friend!

When you get desperate (what I think will happen soon) you can go back to the site and look for the ENG button. Enjoy your brick until then. Good luck whatever you do.
I had the same problem. My Choice was s-unlock and that guy did a good job and unbricked my Mi8. But it will cost you $36,00 and he also needs access to your computer via Teamviewer. After 15 min i had a usefull Smartphone back. Be aware - the phone ist NOT unlocked then. You have to unlock it again with Xiaomi unlock-tool.

Even if there were a member here that can do it, it would most likely be using something such as TeamViewer. Just like you don't want them accessing your computer, they wouldn't entrust you with their account password just for the sake of fixing your device. With TeamViewer, you can generally see what the person is doing on your computer. If you have any concerns, use a separate user on your computer.

If I have your username and your password, I can access your account but I can't steal it, steal your personal data or prevent you from changing your cretentials and tracking me.
Why ? Simple : I don't have your e-mail address or your phone number.

Creating a new user doesn't prevent infecting the whole computer, even without elevated privilege.
Also, a sandbox is useless with remote control so the only way was virtual machine, I tried but it seems that even if the OS was detecting the phone in both ADB and fastboot mode, communication wasn't working.
However, I don't understand why I can't just buy an account.
I contacted S-Unlock but they don't want to do that either.

I don't think these people who are sort of "trusted" in their offered service are in it to push malware into your computer. Besides, thats why antivirus software exists. As for VMs, you are right, most never work, specifically due to driver issues.
It may be worth it to partition your hard drive and just create another installation of Windows. Most viruses aren't going to spread over to your other partition. You can install Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool, no activation needed and it is not "piracy".
Also, you don't understand how the authorization works. Anyhow, simple question, how long have you had your Mi account for, and also, how many devices have you used with your account?
how do you expect these people to unbrick your device? Be happy it is possible. If you are really worried about them installing a virus which they wouldnt because it would cost their business duel boot into a different version of windows (no VM)

I totally agree with you. I faced the same issue 2 months ago. They send me a Chinese version, advertised as "global", also it was my first ever xiaomi, so my first flashing bricked my phone cause option to relock bootloader was ticked. I searched for days all over the internet hopping to find a solution but... So I returned the phone, but it took me almost 2 months cause they tried all kinds of tricks and they were out of Xiaomis. I think that VM works fine. I am on manjaro linux and I am running windows 10. I can connect my phone and flash it. After all, as you mentioned it, I don't think that someone offering this kind of service will risk his reputation to see what I have in my PC.
How do I know if my account is EDL or not?
My Xiaomi account was given approval to unlock my Redmi Note 3 pro some years ago. But I dont know if that would count for the Mi 8 too or if I have to ask for new approval?

Approval is for a very limited time. I'm sure it is no longer valid. Most issues people have can be resolved by contacting Xiaomi support, and assuming you don't have a history of abusing the authorization and you're not a new account (e.g. having to ask because you bricked more than one phone or having a Mi Account that was recently opened). Those set off red flags immediately.
Can someone give me the link to the website that can help me unlock it.
Thread closed, paid remote unlock services and those discussions take no place here

Hello,
I negotiated a Galaxy Note 8 (SM-N950F/DS) through a site of collective purchases in Brazil, with invoice and all the accessories.
I did all the tests in the device and I decided to buy it, because it seemed reliable.
The device already had the factory settings, but with Android 7.1.1.
I activated automatic update in order to upgrade the android to 8.0.
I received the update and installed it. When restarting the phone, I started the settings normally, I was able to configure the Samsung Account, but when I was starting the configuration of the Google account my phone blocked.
After trying several unlock passwords, I made contact with SAMSUNG which instructed me to send the device for local service.
When I arrived at the service it was verified that my device had "transport block" and who is responsible for unlocking the device is the store in which the device was purchased.
I went to the store that was described in the purchase invoice and there informed me that the store does not perform any kind of unlock or block, so I could not solve the problem.
After several discussions with Samsung and the store, it was verified that my invoice was exchanged and that it was possibly not true.
It was from there that I realized that I was deceived by the seller of the device, because when I try to contact him, my calls do not complete and he blocked me in the social networks.
The only information I have about him is his name and the phone number that should have already been discarded.
Anyway, I realized that I would have to try on my own. Because of this, I am doing this post. I apologize for the long text above before passing the technical information, I had to explain what happened, because I do not want to pass as a thief.
After doing several research I found that the lock was being triggered by RLC.apk which is located at "/system/priv-app/Rlc/Rlc.apk" in stock firmwares.
I found an instruction that guided to freeze the performance of this app with application Ice box v3.1.9.1.
I tried the instruction, but it did not work on devices with Binary 4 (which is my case). The device continues to locked.
I talked to some technicians who told me that this is a block known as SEDA_LOG or DNP 0001. There are some companies that unlock remotely, but it does not have support for Binary 4.
With rom COMBINATION I can use some applications installed by adb, even my data network works perfectly.
The IMEI is normal, unlocked, and is out of the blacklist.
Other information is that the RMM State is Lock, FRP ON, OEM LOCK ON.
Also, when the lock screen appears a few times the message "Silent Log is not allowed for commercial version, please get the EM token".
Through the Samsung Account I can make the phone ring and even locate it, but it does not unlock.
Some failed attempts:
- flash a rom from another region (the device region is ZTO, I tried O2U)
- wait 7 days for the RMM State to disappear (not disappeared, continued locked)
- freezing the RLC app
- enter several PINs to try to unlock.
- login with my samsung account on rmm.samsung.com to try to unlock rmm, but I can not access.
If anyone can help me, or can guide me in what to do, I am very grateful.
Well, if you got scammed by some nasty person, strictly talking, the device in your hands was illegaly traded, as such, here in XDA no solution will be given or support offered, sorry, these cases appear often, and the moderators usually close the threads

I understand!
Anyway thank you.
I bought my K20 Pro off AliExpress being advertised as the "Global Version". I later found out that this was actually a Chinese version, rooted and with a custom ROM.
Due to this fact, I was not able to use Google Pay (gave me an error "not available on rooted devices".
I thought to be clever, googled, how to re-lock the bootloader, and got to work. That done ... and without realising I just BRICKED my brand new phone.
As I did not link my device to my Mi account I had no option to unlock it the official way either.
I spent the good part of 2 days researching and trying different tools .. and I am stuck!
As far as I can see I got only these options left:
- Open up my device, do the test point thingy.. and flash via Mi Flash. (do I need an authorised account for this??) .. Since the device is glued.. I am not comfortable doing this.
- Use a deep flash EDL cable .. does this actually solve the problem? Or do I still need to open up the device?
- Try to get a refund from Ali Express and send it back as "sold as Global, but is actually chinese" .. not sure I will ever see my money back (any experience?)
- Find a phone repair shop.
Any suggestions?
Any way I can fix this without having to open up my phone?
Hi.
Your are not alone with a bricked brand new k20
I did the exact same thing for the same reason (unable to use Google pay). However even worse I knew my device was a the Chinese version. I did manage to unbrick it, but only by open (test points) it and by paying someone with an authorized edl account to connect to my pc using TeamViewer. I also managed to accidentally remove and lose some micro components from the main board that are used for the screen. So in the end I have a device with black a screen. Learned an expensive lesson to not attempt repairs when tired in the middle of the night. Good luck with yours.
Same problem
Hello,
Did you manage to unbrick the device?

If you have bricked the phone look here for the solution
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/help/destroyed-error-fastboot-locked-t3946012/post79852687
Read it all.
You will need to open the phone and use the test point method to put the phone into EDL mode, then you can unlock and flash a ROM.
You'll see a link for s-unlock. This paid service will allow you to EDL flash without an authorised account.

Deep flash cable doesnt work on this device, i got mine bricked but now its fixed, service centers doesnt accept phones that are chinese variants if there are xiaomi service centers near you, and if you find a phone repair shop, i dont know if they could handle your problem if its not Xiaomi Authorized, you can try and open your phone using the correct tools ( heat gun or hair dryer + suction) i opened mine using only plastic playing cards and old credit card combo, if you are worried about the glue just don't when the glue reheats it will pretty much seal the phone again at 90% of the time mine was pretty dusty and is pretty sturdy as it was already dried, ( tried to pull it out using a suction tool) just follow the guides and you will not encounter any problems, also if you dont have verified account I also suggest s-unlock, its super fast and easy plus a very responsive support team backs you up if you have questions regarding their services or if you wanted to have assistance. Have a great day!
