Hey all,
Have been following the instructions to install the adb drivers for the nook and they do not recognize them as the correct type of driver for the devise. I follow the instructions here nookdevs.com/NookColor_USB_ADB and when I get to the point that I am changing the driver for the nook I see that there is a problem. It always says that the Nook should be under Other Devices but I find mine under Portable Devices. Then when I try and search for the correct driver it never finds the Android Composite ADB Device driver. It finds WPD FileSystem Volume Driver. I force it to use a driver in the correct folder it says that the folder does not contain a valid driver.
Any Ideas.
Thanks
Windows 7
Hi guys,
my OnePlus 3t received an OTA to version 4.5.0 ( OxygenOS).
Since that day, when i connect it to PC I only see it in Device manager as "Unknown USB Device ( Device Descriptor Request Failed).
OS is win 10 x64, but i tried others also.
already reinstalled USB drivers.
Any thoughts?
- Uninstall all Oneplus related drivers (+ software)
- Restart windows
- Install Oneplus drivers and connect again

Try using the tool USBDeview to uninstall/delete all USB drivers that appear to be related to Android. Reboot computer.
Install OnePlus drivers. Reboot computer.
Then connect the device and see what Windows recognizes it as.

I have HiHonor suite installed on my PC for PC to recognize my Phone. I have honor 6 so I tried those drivers.
btw: you know this? when you connect Nokia 7 Plus via USB cable to PC, you see new two devices "Nokia 7 Plus" (this is MTP device for Media/Files Transfer) and "CDROM" (this is virtual CDROM with Windows drivers), if i unpack (on GNU/Linux, not try install on Windows) driver file, then inside in "inf" i see that driver is for 64bit and for 32bit XP and latter...

hi,
my windows 8.1 maschine is not recognizing the zenfon 8 usb file transfer.
it works with Ubuntu 20.04 or Windows 10 in virtualbox on the same maschine, so i assume it is a driver problem.
i already tried some drivers from the asus page and other internet sources, but no success.
all ideas appreciated
thanks!
Search for the ADB composite driver, it should be on the google page somewhere.
Hi brainwash123
thank you that helped. it is working now.
To clarify, my problem is that on my windows 11 laptop my phone is not recognized in fastboot. When I try to run any commands i get "<waiting for device>" and in device manager it is listed as "Android" with a yellow triangle near it because windows says it is an unknown device. I even installed all the drivers i could but still no luck. It works on my ubuntu laptop so I don't know why it wouldn't work on my windows laptop.
Ah yes, welcome to Windows Driver Hell. You see, while you think your drivers are installed, Windows has a different opinion
Try finding the directory of the driver and install it manually in device manager. If this works there is a chance you'll even have to do it every goddamn time. Has happended before.
If you're using a device specific driver you can try Universal Drivers instead. And vice versa if you're on universal drivers now.
Sometimes I have luck with a Nexus driver.
Thanks for your help, it finally worked with the qualcomm driver I found in the msm tool post
