I really like the Mi 11, also the UI on Xiaomi.eu ROM.
The only thing I really miss is the smart unlock features which not seem to be supported by Xiaomi.
I tried the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.rachel030219.smartlocklauncher&hl=it and then SmartLock is visible and configeable but trusted places does not work.
I also tried Tasker with SecureSettings and unlocking with my pincde but itI cannot get it to work.
I am using pincode and fingerprint.
Anyone had success with unlocking the phone at home via GPS or WiFi network?
Please advice.
Thanks in advance.
Same here. I am missing the smartlock function in my previous phone.
I am now using the face recognition function and it works pretty the same too. You may want to try.
Thanks and I am using it right now, but less secure and useless when the phone lies next to me and I want to unlock it..
Hope some one had it working on MI 11?

Has anyone who uses the Trusted Places feature have trouble getting it to realize that you are at home? The strange thing is...UT works for me when I am at work (granted, I don't use it there...).
Are there any suggestions for me? This is quite annoying rust such a great feature has suddenly stopped working for me. Also, this problem is not Rom-specific. It doesn't matter which rom that I choose to use right now.
Has anybody got a correct work of this feature? I'm trying to set my car's Bluetooth as trusted device (sorry, it's a direct translation from Spanish; I don't know how is it shown in English version) but my phone still ask for fingerprint or PIN.
I've the same problem.
Is it possible to fix?

And, half year later, is there any workaround or solution?
I think you can't use Smart Lock in MIUI. I tried it when xiaomi.eu was updated to Nougat but it wasn't working. It seems to work with AOSP based ROMs and LineageOS though.
Hi there. I'm looking to replace my Xperia X Compact as it does not support t-mobile WiFi calling. I'm looking to purchase an xz1 compact as I absolutely hate Sony's new childish, rounded handset look. However I'm very concerned that I will be able to get all the features working that I require, especially with the latest firmware. I would appreciate some up to date information as well as any links to guides to accomplish all of my requirements.
What I require:
1. Root is a must. I do a lot of automation with Tasker and want to have full access to my device. Obviously I'd also like to install recovery and ensure that the camera and all apps and features are fully functional.
2. Fingerprint scanner functionality is required. I use a password manager and have no desire to ever be without this feature.
3. I live in an area with mediocre coverage and frequently visit places with minimal coverage. Thus I have realized that I have need of T-mobile us WiFi calling, band 12 support, VO-LTE, etc.
I have read that with some minimal editing of the firmware files you can flash a modified UK firmware to allow both the fingerprint scanner and WiFi calling but I'm concerned that I might lose one or both if rooted. Furthermore I'm concerned that with the latest OTA I won't be able to accomplish all three. I'm obviously not willing to lose any of these features.
I'd appreciate any updated information and would love if you could point me to any guides.
Thanks in advance.

All good questions. I was kind of in the same boat, although in the end, I sacrificed root access and settled on only having fingerprint and TMo VoLTE/WiFi calling (mostly because I didn't have the guts to unlock the bootloader with only a questionable DRM fix method available).
I used the information in this thread to get fingerprint and TMo stuff working together. It was pretty simple, and worked great the first time. However, I'm pretty sure OTA updates will break that functionality and you'll have to go through the process again if you want to update the OS and keep fingerprint/TMo stuff working.
As far as root, you will need to unlock the bootloader, and then you will need some sort of DRM fix to keep the camera working. There are a few methods in this forum scattered around, but none of them had enough positive results reported back for me to feel confident in trying them. Remember, once you unlock your bootloader, there is no going back, so you're stuck with a non-working camera until you can find a DRM fix method that works. The most widely used root / DRM fix method that I know of currently is Xperifix, although since it is a paid for tool, there is no dedicated thread here on XDA. There are some discussions on xperifix.com, and a lot of people have had success using this. However, a lot of people have struggled with this as well, so I didn't feel confident enough to try it.
As far as how the DRM fix works with the cobbled together firmware for TMo/fingerprint, I can't say, and I don't think I've read of anyone reporting that here on the forums. I suspect everything would work together just fine, but can't say for sure.
Good luck, and if you do end up getting everything working together with root, please do report back here, I would definitely be interested in hearing about it.

At this point it's pretty much a gaurantee that you can root and add the DRM fix easily. But now I'm hearing something about the pictures will still not be the same quality???
I'm curious how do you keep the device from getting OTA updates without root access?
I'm really not okay with having a device without root access. The ability to make my own recovery images is an absolute must. I'm also too invested in tasker automation to stop now.

No, has nothing to do with picture quality. The camera either works or it doesn't. When you unlock bootloader, the camera stops working (solid green pictures). When you apply DRM fix, it starts working again as it did originally.

I disabled the update centre and update service using this method - no root required.
Does anyone know if this method to keep the wifi calling and fingerprint reader simultaneously active works after recent ota updates?
Still searching for someone on T-mobile US with this device that can verify that I can achieve all 3 at once (Root, Fingerprint Sensor, T-mobile Wifi Calling).
Please help.
Ok, so I bought the ROG Phone 2 on AliExpress a few weeks ago on Black Friday because I really needed a new phone. After reviewing the page details I found out that the seller puts the global rom on himself because it comes by default with the Chinese rom. Will this still work for banking apps and OTA updates? Can I make it work somehow? Had I known in advance that it wouldn't be the Real global version I wouldn't have bought it, but since I've waited so long to get it, I'd just assume make it work myself, rather than go through the whole hassle to return it. I don't know much about custom rom's and what is / isn't possible, so I am at a loss as to what to do, or how I can check what kind of phone it is when I get it. Any help would be much appreciated so thanks in advance!
Here is the page where i bought it, because it has some more information on specifics: "aliexpress.com/item/4000106113494.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.5fd61d0e5SUkH5"
Also side question, since the seller changed the rom himself should I be possibly concerned with keylogger or anything?
1. I shouldn't worry too much about keyloggers etc. but if you are, just run a good virus scanner when you get the device...
2. With regard to banking apps, they mainly have issues with being rooted... which you won't be.
3. Regarding OTA's, assuming the fingerprint has been changed, you can see this thread for an app that allows updates to be enabled, providing you aren't rooted or anything.
But, if they haven't changed the fingerprint (you can check using device info HW under 'system') then you'll need to follow one of the guides on the forum to change it yourself... here's one... change fingerprint
Is there a way to unlock the bands, or is that strictly a hardware issue?

Hardware I think
Recently, I'm facing problems with my Mi 11 device. People who are calling me complaining that they are getting their own voice back through their phones while calling me. I tried updating my device but it didn't help me. I'm hoping for some solution here. Thank you. Cheers.
I faced the same problem too. You can google and there are some solutions that work - disable google voice recognition etc.
Unfortunately, none of the solution work for me and I have sent my phone back to xiaomi for diagnostic. (still waiting for my phone to be back)

Same here, I tried disabling voice recognition as well, but it is still the same.
You can try using a small masking tape to cover the top microphone. - it works for me. But becareful not to block the proximity sensor.
Don't bother to try any other methods like factory reset or any settings. I have tried and it doesnt work. Anyway, this issue is not unique only to Mi 11 but all other phones as well. (other brands included)
Welcome to Xiaomi Mi 11 trouble family, I have echo problem plus wifi problem also out of guarantee and no solution for months.
May be the only solution is:
- Put in the bin and continue your life
