Hi,
When I plugged in the phone to some of my chargers (not original Sony), the charge seemed to cut off after few seconds. However only one of my chargers having almost none of the issue. Does my charging port need to be replaced or the phone itself requires specific type of charger/cable?
Chcek your USB plug, clean it or as well change the cab USB cable

One of my Tilts suddenly won't charge on some chargers:
HTC AC charger - OK
USB to PC - charge and sync OK
HTC compatible car charger - no charge
Blackberry AC charger - no charge
My second Tilt is OK on all four chargers (as expected).
I am suspecting a problem with the usb connector but looking for a reason why some chargers work and others don't.
Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks
I saw a few weeks back a thread on this very forum that examines this problem in detail -- keep searching
Problem Charging
I think I 've read everything relevant. I am looking for someone who has h/w insight into the Kaiser charging scenarios. I suspect mini-usb damage.
I am somewhat familiar with HTC's pin 4-5 implementation to detect a true charger as opposed to a usb connection that can also apply power.
I want to eliminate software possibilities.
How can a Kaiser charge from an HTC AC charger and also charge from a USB connection to a PC....but not recognize a car charger or a third party AC charger that does not implememt the pin 4-5 grounding technique to identify a charger (and not a generic USB connection).
That is where I am lost.
Looking for "inside-out" knowledge...not "outside-in", if you catch my drift.
charging problems
If the car charger worked before, you can do an easy test. Just put in the car charger and do a soft reset. If it starts charging than, its only a software issue. I did a modification on a charger myself. Because I have different chargers using a normal USB cable, my device didn't charge alway as well. I modified a standard miniUSB cable by connecting the 5th pin to ground. When I use this cable for charging I never have a problem anymore. Succes.

I had exactly the same problem after I tried to re-set my device by poking the stylus in the mini-usb port instead of the re-set hole (tryng to do three things at once!). The port was mangled, and once i'd pushed it all back it wouldn't take a charge from the genric car charger. I bought an HTC branded car charger and it charges as good as a wall adapter.
I imagine that your suspicion of USB port damage is correct.
Can i use a non sony cable for charging my X1 or USB transfer? It looks the same as a USB mini connector that i have but i'm not game to test it without your advice?
Yes you can. The only comment to make is the number of connectors in the cable. Almost all cables will charge & allow you to connect with your PC, a minority may just allow charging.
(I once bought one of those roll-up cables from Boxwave, where the cable is collected in a disc: it was sold as a charging cable, and yes, it only charged! In the same box there was a synch cable of the same design, and that both charged and sync'ed)
And re the charger, you can use any. Charging from the PC is slower, as will be some wall chargers with a low rating (amperage).
But you will not damage the phone, however much power (amps) the charger promises to provide: the phone will only draw the current it needs.
Thanks for the reply. I'll test my cable.
x1 is miniUSB a universal std like a normal AC connector
even other htc devices with extUSB rather then normal miniUSB is direct compatible with
all miniUSB cables for charging and syncing with computers
Hi, Ive been experiencing problems charging my X1. Its 18months old, it will charge from a usb port however will not charge from the original SE mains adapter (or any other Ive used). Any suggestions?
Wasn't it obvious? The main charger is broken?
But if you really want 2b sure. Maybe you can try this, (I tried this before on my ex-phone) Try to plug your USB Flash Disk to that charger. If you have USB flash disk with LED, you can see the blinking LED, vice versa.
Ive tried 3 different mains chargers! all with seperate cables, all which charge through the laptop.

3 mains chargers from sony ericcsson or appropriate charger for X1? I really have no idea.
It seems weird to me too. Technically it's nearly impossible that the charging process only works in connection with a laptop/ PC. I recommend trying a charger from whom you are sure it works (from a friend, from a store...). Maybe all of your chargers are defective (coincidences happen) or inappropriate (heed the output voltage and the maximum current provided by the charger).
X1 charges only from USB - broken phone hardware?
This thread is getting on a bit but just experienced same problem with my X1. WON'T charge from charger, WILL charge from computer USB or other USB. Bought new battery and new charger, tried various charger leads, no joy.
Finally tried making up USB charger lead from old bits connecting ONLY 0V and +5V lines, NOT data lines D+ and D-. Now WILL charge from both old and new chargers and better half's HTC desire charger, but presumably at USB modest charging rate rather than high speed mains charger rate.
I think it must be broken phone hardware which is happy with USB but when it detects a dedicated charger via the data line shorting in the charger now fails to switch over to high charging rate. Breaking the data lines tricks it.
Hope this helps. If anyone can point to a software fault rather than broken hardware feel free to make my day.
Cheers
This leads me to the question what roms you guys are using. Stock? Custom? 6.1? 6.5?
My ROM is stock R3AA010 1.05.931.10 dated 04/23/09. I flashed this over original Vodafone ROM in October 2009 and it has behaved itself when charging until now.
after years of not issue, yesterday my note stop charging in the outlet chargers, I have several all do not charge it but have no issues charge my wifes phone.
but I can charge the phone with the same orig cable when the usb is my computer and not the outlet.
any clues why my phone will charge in my computer with same cable but not in orig outlet plug. please tell me I do have to have my $2K high end gaming desktop on just to charge my phone in its usb slot.
I cleaned everything, it is a new battery

any help is apprecaited
I guess problem is in your adapter..try different adapter and see if it helps
Sent from my AweSoMe ?♥Note2♥?
I have tried 4 different adapter/cords combos ( just in my house) none of them charge my phone in an outlet - all work with my wife's smaller samsung in output. so weirdly only a direct usb with the oem cord to computer works ( in both my desk and laptop). so weird. so annoying.
You have to buy a new charging port, and the board that comes with it. This is a link to the part you need. If you search "n7000 charging port flex ribbon" you should be able to find other places that have it. http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-samsung-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-charging-port-flex-cable-ribbon.html
So, I have the official Sony DK48 dock for my Z3 Compact (no case). The phone will recognize that it is connected to the dock by giving the notification sound, but the battery will not charge while on it. I've tried wiggling it all sorts of different ways, and tried at least 3 different USB cables, but still no dice.
Is anyone else having this issue?
Have you used original cable? I had this problem with some poor quality cables, they were too thin inside for the designed current
plug it in the mains...

With 'mains' you can mean so many things.
I guess you mean plug the cable in an electrical outlet, rather then in a computer. I believe that I had the same issue. (Worked fine in an outlet)
The DK48 will only charge the phone when power comes from the mains. It does not charge the phone when connected to a USB port of a PC or laptop.
Use the original charger and the original cable that came with your phone and the Z3/Z3C should charge just fine in the DK48; that's at least what my does.
Yes all of my attempts occurred while plugging the dock into the AC adapter that came with the phone.
I guess then it seems like its a faulty DK48...
It should work with the original cable, adapter and electric outlet (not a PC).
Why wouldn't the DK48 charge through PC? How does it know? Amperes?
The input from the computer is too low even when you plug the USB to 3.0 port... Unfortunately you MUST use wall charger for the DK48 to be working.

I am a bit late in this thread, but I will post it anyway in case somebody has the same problem. Dk48 won't charge phone while connected to PC, because it checks if data lanes in Micro USB port are used. If they are, charging is stopped. If someone wants to charge phone using dock connected to PC (I for example connect it to my active USB hub, which is connected to my PC) it is necessary to use Micro USB cable, which doesn't use data lanes, just charging ones.
I hope it will help somebody.
