are there any proud owners of S5 Active G870F? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

exactly the G870F model with the unlocked bootloader, not the common locked G870A.
If you are lucky enough to possess such a rare phone please send me a PM, thanks.

[Q] about unlocking galaxy note

hello everyone
i'm going to buy the galaxy note from a phone provider in my country, the galaxy note has a chance of 90% to be locked, and i want to use other sims on it, so, is there any way i can unlock my note for free? i've also read that i can unlock it with the "galaxy s unlocker" app but i need the kj4 kernel(the method is the sam as SGS2 method), so, can i flash this kernel to my phone then root and after that unlock it with the app mentioned before? and can i flash custom roms even my phone is locked? i need a fast reply as im buying it either today or tomorrow :l
another thing, can some one give me galaxy s ii unlocking method with the "galaxy s unlock" app?
thanks in advance

You can get it unlocked remotely, I made a video and got the unlock code for free, my Galaxy Note was locked to At&t and I'm using T-Mobile Service with it now.

Hi
I have an IMEI unlock codes server, and I can provide unlock codes for all Samsung phones locked on European networks.
All models are compatible, even the most recent.
The unlock by imei don't make you loose your warranty, and it's permanent.
It's the easiest way to unlock your phone.
All you have to do is power on your phone with an unaccented sim card, type the provided unlock code, and the phone will be unlocked for ever.
The only info that I need is the IMEI of the phone. (type *#06# to see the IMEI)
And the model of the phone.
Delivery time: half hour normally.
SPECIAL OFFER 12€

Say that you see this post in XDA to benefit this offer.
Payments by PayPal 100% secure for you.
I have codes for all brands of phones too.
Thanks

Interesting conversation with Samsung rep

So basically I'll be trying this out tomorrow.
Getting Samsung to put a t-mobile rom on my ATT S5 (and maybe even unlock a bootloader in the process?)
This rep is either wholly confused or a nice guy :good: haha anyway,
some hope is better than none.

info: You are now chatting with 'Marlin'. There will be a brief survey at the end of our chat to share feedback on my performance today.
info: Your Issue ID for this chat is (redacted fools)
Marlin: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Visitor: Hey I'm just wondering why the att and verizon galaxy s5 is denied root access while all other variants we're allowed it?
Visitor: Most of what I use my phone for requires root access and now I'm stuck with this ATT paperweight
Visitor: were*
Marlin: I understand that you want to root your device. Correct?
Visitor: I'd prefer to use a stock google rom
Visitor: but seen as that isn't possible
Visitor: yes
Marlin: Thank you for confirming.
Marlin: Samsung does not recommend rooting the device as it affects the device performance and also void the warranty.
Visitor: But they supported it for the other variants
Visitor: just not att and verizon
Visitor: Samsung specifically blocked root on ATT and Verizon and did not implement that block on any other variant
Visitor: If I had a t-mobile S5 I wouldn't be talking to you right now
Marlin: I am sorry; the features and security settings on the device are carrier specific. The devices are manufactured depending on the carrier requirements.
Marlin: The features on the device would vary from carrier to carrier.
Visitor: But having root access is hardly a feature of the phone
Visitor: What you're saying is Verizon and ATT specifically requested that their variants of the S5 were not allowed to have root access
Marlin: Yes, on few devices the bootloader is locked from the carrier.
Visitor: So lets say I change my carrier to t-mobile but still have this ATT firmware
Visitor: would samsung be able to put a tmobile firmware on my phone for use with the tmobile specific apps
Visitor: an official one
Visitor: without root etc
Marlin: Yes, you are correct. Even if you change the carrier to T-mobile, the device would have ATT firmware as the device is initially released from ATT.
Marlin: If you change the carrier, the bootloader on the device will be unlocked. (Uhhhhhhwhat?)
Visitor: My phone is SIM-unlocked. I have used my sisters tmobile sim card in this phone (lie lol)
Visitor: it certainly didnt change anything to do with the bootloader
Visitor: Lets say I go to a samsung care place in best buy would they be able to put the official tmobile firmware on my phone
Marlin: Yes, you can get the firmware changed at Samsung experience shop at best buy.
Visitor: Thank you very much."
Either way, it really doesn't change anything. Even if they flashed a new ROM/modem (which I doubt they would do anyway) what would be the purpose? You might as well just swap it for the T-mobile model then, since it would be the exact same thing.
Negative. Bestbuy's Samsung Kiosk does not have the ability to change the bootloader of the device. The locked bootloader is tied to the hardware itself (Qfuse) and not just a firmware based lock, so unless they plan on changing the motherboard...

It's their device if anyone could unlock the bootloader I'd put my money on samsung
edit- The built in hardware restrictions that prevent exploits may not apply given they're not using at all the same tools as the public to modify the phone.

I kinda disagree with that, because I had s4 the official release, with MDL firmware, rooted and kept that bootloader and was able to flash any roms I wanted even international roms and would flash appropriate kernels and add att apns, if I would have taken the OTA MF3, firmware my bootloader would have been locked, and I know threw Odin you can flash bootloaders, so I've been wondering if anyone has tried to take the official tmobile .tar file and use Odin to flash it on an att phone, if that worked and could root all you would have to do is flash att modem and add att apn, but I would figure someone has tried this?maybe I'm totally wrong but seems logical.

You can disagree all day, but it's still not possible. MDL firmware used an exploit (LOKI) to bypass the chain of trust. In no way was the bootloader unlocked or exchanged. If you look at my signature, you will see that is what I have now. The only way it was possible was via exploit, which was patched in the MF3 firmware update and beyond. As of now, another exploit like LOKI has not been found ( and may not exist).
ODIN can not flash firmware on phones with bootloaders that have been blown Q-fuses...the count can only implement up.
There has been extensive research and testing done about all of this already. Extremely talented Developers have tried every way known (as of yet) to exchange firmwares on different branded phones with locked bootloaders with the firmware of phones that have unlocked bootloader. A good example is the work put into trying to put the GE edition firmware (and unlocked bootloader) onto the AT&T and Verizon S4s...it just couldn't happen.
Please take some time to review the various bootloader threads about the locked bootloaders on the S3s, S4s, etc... Adam Outler has some interesting and technical threads with a lot of information.
Maybe something will be found in the future, but it hasn't been found yet, and Bestbuys definitely doesn't have it.

you're linking two affirmative answers to two different questions.
yes, if you switched carriers to t mobile you could get a device with an unlocked boot loader.
yes, you can probably get best buy to flash t mobile firmware to your phone. odds are you could do it yourself.
the two are not the same...
I've read alot of Adams threads but not much on the s5, what has been attempted and what has not, is there a thread on that? And so your saying it's impossible to put the tmobile firmware on an att phone threw Odin or stock recovery?

Q-fuses are on the S5 too, just look at the aboot.
T-mobile firmware cannot be put on an AT&T phone (S4 /S5) with a locked Bootloader with the exception of LOKI (MDL) because the T-Mobile Kernel cannot be flashed to the phone. Not even Safestrap (again S4) can flash kernels. It has been rumored for a long time now that Hashcode has been working on a form of Kexec for the AT&T Samsung phones, but it hasn't happened yet.
The S5s have just come out, but the tech Samsung uses to lock the bootloaders hasn't changed much...and it is working well.

Yeah I doubt they will either honestly but I'm frustrated enough to waste a drive to that blue shirted hell hole
Is their a development thread for this phone, im familiar with other qualcom devices and even some on the qfuses.
I work at the SES in Best Buy, and I can tell you there is nothing we can do. The things we use are the same that you all have access to. I don't even think we could flash a different carrier's firmware if we wanted to, it'll brick the device.. Definitely cannot unlock the bootloader, as stated above by others.
And to be honest OP, I wouldn't go around trying to get them to flash a different firmware if I were you. Just trying to save you some headache here. Because if they do brick the device, it'll be a hassle.
If the employee was trained properly, then they won't even attempt to flash a different carrier's firmware.

well unfortunately thats not how it works, the MBL is flashable via odin (or any other device mfg for that matter), in fact if you download any of the samsung official firmwares out there you will see that most (Not all but most) will include a MBL file as well as the system, cache, CSC and other partitions.
Boot Loaders are flashable and do not require system board replacements, if they did no device made would ever (and I meen EVER) have the bootloader unlocked by ANY exploit or other means.

Give it a try and find out. I guess you think all of the work already done towards this (and there has been a lot) is all wrong? I tell you what, get an S4 with MK2 firmware on it and try to flash MDL onto it or even T-mobile firmware onto it via ODIN and then make sure you come back and report how wrong I am.

Galaxy S6 Edge 925A 5.1.1 Root/Downgrade/TWRP Questions

I purchased a S6 Edge and it was updated to 5.1.1 when I got it. I am a big fan of rooting/flashing ROMS/mods (My last phone was an extremely modded Oneplus One which met an untimely end) but I am not really sure how to do that on this phone. I would very much appreciate any help with info on how to root/install TWRP. Additionally I know that the S6 on 5.0.2 can be rooted but I also heard that once you update to 5.1.1 can't downgrade but it's worth a shot. I also heard that the [email protected] version has a locked boot loader is there any way to unlock it? If not would flashing say a T-Mobile stock ROM work? Thank you for any help. I also know that Devs don't like being asked for ETAs so instead I will ask if anyone knows how development of Cyenogenmod for the S6 Edge is progressing?
There's no way to unlock the bootloader on the AT&T version of the phone. You won't be able to use a custom recovery such as TWRP.
This is also my first Samsung phone (I've always used HTC devices, which were so easy to unlock/root). Since you're on 5.1.1, I don't think there's any way to achieve root (yet). I may be wrong there, though.
There is no way to root, if you want to do fun stuff with your phone, stay away from at&t

Hi, I'm also in the same boat. I know that this thread is old but I am planning to buy the s6 edge with AT&T (used). The phone is currently running on 5.1.1, (OJ9).
Before buying, is there any possible root YET? Am I possible to downgrade? I am sure these questions have been answered multiple times, but like I said, the threads that I have found via XDA are old. So before purchasing, I'd just like to make sure. Thank you so much!!

flash unlocked firmware on locked tmobile galaxy s8 Plus

Hi, I have an locked tmobile galaxy s8 plus and i wanted to flash an unlocked firmware on it so it can be used on any network. Is that possible?
If yes, can someone please point me in the right direction? Tia
Short answer is No. So yea...as of right now, u can pay 130$+ to get unlocked or as tmobile to do it.

Does Xposed exist for my phone?

Hey guys,
One of the main reasons I always want to root my phone, is not so I can customize the look and feel of it. My main reason is so I can have Xposed framework on it. I had xposed on my first rooted phone (verizon galaxy s5) and I loved it.
Later I got a verizon samsung galaxy s7 and unfortunately they could not crack that nut so there never was a version of xposed compatible with my s7.
Well now I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (snapdragon) and thanks to samfail I can easily root my phone but is there no version, whether official or unofficial of xposed available or under development for this phone? Or does the locked bootloader prevent it from ever becoming a reality? Thanks guys.

I don't have this device but, have you tried performing a search (or posted this question) within the following area of the forum that's specific to your device?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8
XPosed only requires a properly rooted device and not an unlocked bootloader because it doesn't affect the bootloader of a device.
I did notice on one or two threads regarding the Magisk XPosed working as well for your device.
Good Luck!

I DO NOT provide support via PM unless asked/requested by myself. PLEASE keep it in the threads where everyone can share.
