If I say "Open Instagram" --> Instagram.com opens.
If I say "Open Mint" --> Mint.com opens.
If I say "Open YouTube" --> App opens.
I need apps to open instead of websites, damnit.
Can you guys test this on your systems?
Mine opens in apps. Check your Default apps settings

Just tested with Instagram, Reddit, Spotify and 9Gag. In every instance, Google Assistant launched the app.
It must be some permission or setting I have. Thanks for letting me know!

Why would google, make the market place not send a message out when a app is not updated. You would think that would be a simple thing to setup. just does a check when you open up market place.
Don't know if this is what your talking about but the program "aTrackDog" works perfectly for checking for updated versions of all the apps/games on your phone.
thats works great, thanks.
Ok I have one more question, With this being a google phone, a "connected" phone, why is there not a option for homepage in the contact? Or even a second email spot?

if you go into your contacts scroll down and hit "more info" then , you can add as many email addresses as you like to your contact...there's even a drop down menu so you can pick "work" "home", etc.
Ok I did it on my PC, and did not have that option. Its good to know I can do it there for a extra email address.

Actually that functionality exists in the full desktop Gmail contacts manager as well. You can expand 'More Information' to get a Notes and Other field. Add extra email addresses by clickin the 'add' link.
Any way to remove my secondary google account, which I use only for youtube access, from the market app? My AT&T Captivate is completely stock/unrooted on 2.2 I loaded from Kies.
Go into the market and hit the menu button on the bottom of the screen one of the of the options will be either "my account" or "my accounts" select it. When you do that a menu will pop up and display all the Google accounts that are on the device and one of them will be selected and you have the option to change which one it is by clicking on the appropriate account name. So just click on the account you want to use with the market and you should be good to go!

Yeah, it keeps reverting to the secondary account after I select my default account in the market settings, as you mentioned above.
Yeah, this seems to be a newish bug. I've got apps installed across 5 different accounts now. It is what it is, i just make sure I only have payment info tied to the one main account so paid apps always come in right.
After updating to .244 a couple days ago, when I open links in chrome I do not get all of my "open with" selections, YouTube for example only asks for YouTube or Chrome, it used to also ask if I wanted to open the link with BSPlayer
Is there a way to manually populate that list? I've tried reinstalling the apps to no avail. I'm clueless on the subject
Howdy,
I have the Galaxy Tab Pro SM-T250.
I have downloaded a webpage to view off line (.htm)
When I click on the .htm file HanCom Office tried to open the file & failed. I turned off that program & cleared it's cache. The Launch by Default section had a grayed out Clear Default button for that program (as many of the online guides suggested I click the Clear Default button)
Under Default Applications for the entire device there is nothing under Clear Defaults
When I try to open the .htm file after stopping the HanCom Office application, I receive a pop up window which reads "Unable to find application to perform this action."
I do not have a box pop up asking for an application to open the file. If I did, I would have Firefox do it.
Thank you very much!
Actually most mobile browser are not set to open local HTML files (since it's an unusual behaviour on a mobile device). To solve your problem you should use a specific application from Google Play, like Offline browser.
Also, if you're using Android 4+, you can save web pages for offline navigation directly form the default browser, although you can open them just in the browser itself.
So after having an issue getting my Facebook to sync with my contacts I went through a lot of effort to find a solution. I eventually found the issue that was causing Facebook not to sync. At some point the Facebook app removed the sync option entirely from their app. Older versions had an option that you could enable contact syncing.
So to fix the problem first uninstall Facebook.
The next step is to go to Settings->Security and tick the option Unknown sources. This will allow you to sideload apps.
Then go to http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/facebook-2/facebook/facebook-31-0-0-20-13-android-apk-download/ and download the Facebook apk.
Then open up a file explorer and go to your downloads folder.
Tap the apk you just installed and then click install. You may need to press next a few times first or scroll down through the permissions.
After this press login and once you're at the main page for the app press the menu button.
Tap Settings.
Scroll all the way to the bottom where you will find Sync Contacts.
Tap Sync Contacts where you will be given three options. Choose the one that best suits your needs.
After that go to your phone's settings again
Find and tap Accounts & Sync
Tap the plus sign
Tap Facebook
Go through all you need to go through
Then when your back at the Accounts & Sync page tap Facebook
Make sure the checkbox next to Contacts is checked
At this point you can go to your People app and sync your contacts
I highly recommend you make sure Facebook cannot auto-update
To do this go to Play Store
Tap the three bars at the upper left
Tap My Apps
Go to Facebook and tap it
Then press the menu button
A menu should popup that has an Auto-update option with a checkmark. Make sure it is unchecked.
A little side note you will get notifications in Facebook to update. Just ignore them you do not have to update.
