Dead mi5 - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hey guys i have a mi5 that is not turning on, it was running on lineage os 16 or 17 not sure, my brother had this phone and he bricked it while updating via twrp and now only bootloader is opening and that too not for more than 30 secs, any solutions for this ?

Is it flashed, what rom is it on? Please clarify more information than just your phone model, thank you.

If that is the case, than you probably don't have proper drivers for Mi 5 installed, download MIFLASH UNLOCK 3.5.1108.44 from here https://xiaomifirmware.com/downloads/download-mi-unlock-3-5-1108-44/
Double click on MiUsbDriver and install fastboot driver. Now as Keno_I said you can try to install original fastboot rom via flash tool or latest TWRP recovery from cmd prompt on your computer.

Success, turned out that the usb was clogged with dust, and mi flash tool worked. Thanks for the support guys

[Help] Mi Mix with no rom and locked bootloader, can't enter recovery.

Hi everyone,
everything is in the title, yesterday I bricked my Mix when I tried to install a new version via recovery (Mi Pc suite chinese version).
It updated, started working (I entered the rom) then restarted because it asked for a reset, had to say yes, when it restarted I was in a bootloop of Xiaomi logo and couldn't go into recovery mode anymore.
Only fastboot works, but still can't install rom via because I didn't unlocked the bootloader yet and didn't check for usb debugging.
Any ideas would be really appreciated.

So you still be able to flash official with miflash?
When I try to flash via Mi flash it says critical partition error thing (probably because I still don't have unlock the bootloader)

Shouldn't need unlock to install genuine ROM from xiaomi with miflash, you are using the fastboot ROM right?
Likewise USB debugging shouldn't be necessary, as far as I know. Like if you have no ROM it wouldn't know anything about USB debugging.
Yes I'm using fastboot rom
On this page: http://en.miui.com/a-234.html You can see Mi Mix is listed as it needs to unlock before any flash with fastboot.
When I try flash with MiFlash, it says Flash xbl error : https://i.imgur.com/ct0xAQY.png

Don't know if it would work on mix
Yes I did, with all the bat files the images folder.
I'll try one more time when I get home.
Or wait some days to get the unlock permissions by xiaomi

Might be safer to just wait. If you do it now you will have to do it again in a day.
I tried to unlock again with no success, it says error because I didn't enable the "OEM Unlock" option..
Any suggestions?

Have you tried reinstalling the recovery,
From command prompt or from the same command prompt , reboot recovery. Any of these useful?

I'm sure you have disabled driver signature on Windows but just checking.

MI 9 Bricked After trying to change CN rom to Global rom.

Hi Guys, I hope someone of you could help me out.
Recently a Chinese friend of mine gave me an MI 9 as a present. But unfortunately they ROM of the new phone was the CN version.
I found a way to change the ROM by doing the unlock bootloader and flashing TRWP, after that, I downloaded the MI9_Global_V9.5.30_vendor_fw_flash, went back to the Recovery and wiped the "Delvik, cache, SYSTEM and Data. When I was trying to install the rom I got an error telling me the Global rom file was corrupt and restarted the cellphone.
The problem is I am stuck in the Fastboot loop, can't access the recovery and my computer don't recognize the cellphone.
I know I ****ed it up, I was wondering if I can revert that or did I just lost a phone.
Thank you Guys.

Hi,
How did you unlock your bootloader?
It asks for binding Mi account and it's not possible when your phone is bricked.
Yeah, the rule is simple. If it boots into fastboot, it can be recovered. Just flash the global you want with the MI flash tool and the fastboot file.

Guys I am too stupid for this,
I flashed the fastboot global rom in my phone with MI flash but locked it in the end (can't believe I am that retard), now I believed I have bricked it for good.
Now I can't flash the correct fastboot ROM with miflash because I have locked the bootloader while trying to flash the Global ROM. I am at the fastboot loop again.
Can I do something now or I just have a expensive paper holder?
Thank you guys.

flash another official firmware on a locked bootloader BY XIAOMI TOOL V2 https://www.xiaomitool.com/v2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMkDAxiDdKs&t=10s
Here’s something VERY important before you flash or update the ROM.
1. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Chinese market are not able to run MIUI Global ROM.
2. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Global markets are not able to run MIUI China ROM.
We highly recommend you to buy Xiaomi Phones via official or authorized sales channels and double check the system information before flashing or updating.

Hi guy,
Same thing happened to me, I felt very stupid, but it was on a MI 8 SE.
According to my experience, only there's a way to solve it and it's booting on EDL mode.
You'll need an authorized Mi account to flash the original ROM.
There's a complete guide on c . mi . com named [Guide] [All in One] MIUI Flashing Guide: Unbrick, EDL Method / Locked Bootloader, Unlock Bootloader, More, I can't post the url because I'm a new user

Read carefully and report
1. Try to hold down the buttons vol down and power, see if : fastboot devices sees it. If so XiaoMi Tool will restore it. If not do the same try recovery vol up + power. Do adb devices and see if anything shows up. Worst case you'll have to open the phone up and connect the EDL pins together and it will flash anything. I use minimal ADB and Fastboot phone plugged via USB cable into the computer and run those commands.
2. Fully bricks their device here is the unbrick factory method
https://c.mi.com/thread-1479882-1-0.html
that's connecting EDL pins with the phone case removed for a phone that doesn't boot at all
3. https://youtu.be/8mW0JzKow7E
here's the exact EDL test point required on Mi9
if you can't boot or recognize the device at all via fastboot or ADB. If this doesn't work nothing will...
But it will work, that's what the factory does. Obviously the last resort.

Did i brick my mi 9t pro ?

Hey guys. i guess i bricked my handy ? It just boots into fastboot. twrp is installed but i cant get into it. I tried to flash global vendor over the xiaomi.eu rom and after that it just boots into fastboot.
How can i fix it ?
I tried to get into twrp with vol+ and pwr . but still gets fastboot.
You'll have to reflash original fastboot ROM and make sure you check on CLEAN ALL to avoid bootloader relock

As far as I know you should be OK with AMD. I believe it's only the unlock tool that doesn't like AMD Ryzen PCs.
For me it normally takes between 650 - 700 minutes to fastboot flash. Are the USB ports on your PC USB 2 or better? Have you got a good quality USB cable?
Use the cable that came with the phone and try a different USB port or even a different PC if you've got access to one.
it still flashes.... 8700 seconds now. I used the original usb cable and its usb.3.0.

It shouldn't take that long, it usually throws a error at the end but phone boots, usually around 400sec for me. If you're still stuck on fastboot try reflash a few different versions of twrp, our phones are veryyyy finicky. Don't worry though if you can reach fastboot or recovery your phone will be fine.

Find someone who can flash using an edl flash. Yes it will cost a few dollars but it will work again. Remember, do not lock the bootloader unless you are on the original rom branch.

On telegram or search in this forum. Some have used these guys. I have, cost me £23 but all good after. I'm just not allowed to advertise them. I have sent info on message to you.
Its not a bricked phone.
I guess you can only install that ROM version on locked bootloader phone which it had originally.
Like CN ROM can be flashed on CN version only.
And can you try flashing again by removing the script which commands to erase boot, it would be in top lines just delete that line and try flashing again.
And how were you trying to lock it with magisk installed( with fastboot lock command?).

Then download global rom and there are some files in the folder with .bat I guess it would be cleanall.bat something like that open in notepad and try removing the whole line containing erase boot_ab. It will be around in top lines.
You don't need miflash tool to flash. Just save that file after removing the lines and double click it, it will start flashing the rom.
Miflash is just gui to do the same.

How did you unlocked it in the past?
If you already unlocked it in the past there is no time required to wait to unlock again.

what did you do with the phone before it ended "system has been destroyed"? what software did you install last time? what gave you the error "erase is not allowed in lock state", mi flash? please be more specific... have you tried flashing via miflash exactly the same rom you had last time?
and most importantly, is your phone in fastboot or qloader mode? (check windows device manager)

The phone suddenly turned off in the middle of a call and came back on with the message I wrote. I didn't try to install a ROM before now I'm trying to solve the problem and figure out if it's a software or hardware problem

What do you mean box?
when you google "mi 11 box" what does it find? that's what i meant...
Are you ashamed of where you're from? when you don't answer...
find out for yourself what kind of software you had and try to flash it through whatever you see fit... I don't have time or mood for these stupid questions when you can't cooperate... this is communication like with a 12-year-old child...
good luck...
