Question Reduce idle battery drain - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Hello everyone,I left my phone overnight for 8 hours at 100% battery and after 8hours of idling it was at 80%,this seems to much for me. I'm on EEA firmware 12.5.3 and I debloated removing many apps what do you suggest to check or remove?

Try putting it on airplane mode before setting it down for the night. I noticed this drain also, but this made a significant difference. I'm hoping the 12.5 update will sort it!

You are right, putting it into airplane mode should reduce power consumption, probably 5g consume a lot of energy. Now I went into battery mode and resticted apps in background I don't use like assistant, scanner, recorder, notes, and much more

Kill cloud and cloud backup apps.
If you got Google play Services, disable that when not using. Google backup Transport and Framework can be permanently disabled. Kill Google Firebase and feedback for Google, manufacturer, apps and carrier. For starters.
No need to put in Airplane mode if you take out the trash that's needlessly running in the background sucking the battery down.

Could you drive me trough the settings please? Where I can do this? I disabled many things but I want to be sure what I missed

I'm not holding the device and I have a Note 10+ but there are similar issues on all Android phones.
You need to be able to see what apks are draining the battery and using the internet. On Pie which I use is easier to do than with Q and 11 however you may have resources on those systems I'm unaware off.
Disable all power management and address the power hogs individually on a case by case basis.
You can use Karma Firewall to block internet access to rogue apps which will decrease their battery usage. However it's valuble logging features are disabled in Q and above. There may be a ADB work around... I don't know.
Package Disabler is very useful as well. There are non-Samsung variants of the apk you can likely use real time.
Play with it which what I did.
It's time consuming... and what works for some won't work for all. My 10+ was a hot running power hog; today it's a cool running, fast, stable, heavily optimized platform. Once done, do not update the OS or you'll be starting from scratch, again.

Use the Hidden Settings for MIUI app on the Google Play store to disable all the apps that cannot be disabled through the normal app menu (no root required):
Hidden Settings For MIUI - Apps on Google Play
More settings for Xiaomi devices to get a better user experience.

Well the most draining app is Google play services which I don't know what it is used for

Google Backup Transport, Gmail, Gmaps, Find my Device and Playstore mostly. A few other 3rd party apps are dependencies as well like paid for Playstore apps, some of those will run normally without it though*.
Otherwise you can safely leave it disabled.
Find my Device will not initialize as a Device Administrator on reboot without it enabled, an apk I loathe. A reboot with Google play Services enable though will likely be needed to access Playstore.
Playstore is a mess, running in the background.
*like Accubattery if you firewall block it. SD Maid same issue.

That's what I don't understand, Google gmail has been uninstalled via adb, gmaps has been restricted in background (also need to ask location permission everytime it starts), play store has been restricted in background and find my device disabled, so I don't know why it keeps running all the time, what should I do? Shall I install MIUI optimization? The only thing I don't want to lose are whatsapp push notifications, step counter, messages and phone calls notifications
Also my device is rooted, hiw can I prevent Google play services from running in background and being used only when requested? Same for carrier services (what's used for?) And Xiaomi services framework

Find my Device still runs even when disabled.
As does Google Backup Transport and Framework.
Google play Services just does what it wants.
WhatsApp... you're kidding, right? I won't let that FB etc or any "social app" on my machine. Multiple security risks written all over (and into) it.

20% overnight is a lot, I get 4% overnight with no special settings. How's the signal strength? I've noticed that signal strength can have a negative impact on battery when looking for a signal as you mentioned airplane mode seems better.

It's using the internet either polling or transferring data needlessly. You need to find the source.
My 10+ can receive texts and calls at night and still uses only 2-3% in 6 hours with touch to see AOD running.
Before when Google Backup Transport was running (even though it was turned off) it was more like 8-10%. Gookill is a mess.

Well WhatsApp is need to communicate with my wife lol,and my family.
Where can I find these backup transport? I run through the settings and restricted background activity for many apps, I got to see overnight what my new drain will be so I can report you.
What carrier services does? If I restrict background activity will I still receive sms and WhatsApp?
The only apps I have installed on my phone which I installed are: Whatsapp, tapatalk, Kiwi browser (uninstalled chrome), youtube vanced and magisk. All the rest if the apps are the one that came with the firmware. I uninstalled a lot of them plus some packages through adb. Still Google play services and carrier services are the most demanding. I don't want to loose the ability to use maps but only when I use it obviously. I want super low battery drain in idle

Why not use text messaging instead? It's battery usage is low.
-You- really need to know what you are disabling... one at a time.
There are likely more than one or two apps contributing to high battery usage.
Play with it.
Like I said you can enabled/disable Google play Services as needed in settings.
You'll find Google Backup Transport Services and Framework there as well.
Each device and user are different, one solution doesn't work for all. You'll need to become familiar with your device to do this right.

In settings where? And what should I restict or deactivate?

I think I solved the issue by resticting a lot of background activities through manage apps, usage access, revocation and permissions, now the phone stayed a 100% for more than 5hours

[Q] Google Services wakelock kills battery

Google Services is killing my battery with its incessant wakelocks! How do I get rid of this?
I flashed my phone a few days ago... from ICS to JB 4.1.2.... I also loaded NOPE kernel and overclocked to 850 MHz. I thought it was the overclocking that was killing my battery but it looks like it's some of the google services.... they keep cpu wakelocking the phone while it should be sleeping. I mean come on, 6444 wakes in 15hrs?
I see that it's a common issue but there doesn't seem to be an easy fix. Can anyone walk me through what they did to solve? attached are my battery/wakelock stats for reference
You can always greenify it (play store -> greenify). Mind it does restart quite often, so it is a real pain, but most of the google apps depend on it. You could also go to google settings on the phone, and in the location section disable location reporting and location history. This is the main battery killer in google services.
P.S. What's the rom you're using on the pictures?
I read that turning off both GPS and network location services will help fix this.... but then all my apps become dumb. I'm looking at the Google Services screen in Wakelock Detector (image first post) and I can see the wake count for different functions or programs. e.g. NetworkLocationLocator woke 206 times, but GTALK_CONN woke 1668. Is there any way to disable certain aspects of the Google Services app or is it an all or none scenario?
P.S. What's the rom you're using on the pictures?

It's Speed Droid by addictz10 with the Samsung S5 skin (it's called CM11 CM10.2 TouchWiz 5.0 theme in the Store). The first green pic is using Wakelock Detector and the other 2 are the OS Battery screen.
Well, as for gps, you can turn it off, because it is rarely needed for your phone to have that precise information on your whereabouts. As for network location service, don't turn it off, just turn location reporting and location history in google settings (not phone settings). As for gtalk, well, you'll have to uninstall hangouts and to disable/remove google talk to stop that behavior. I don't think that there is a way of stopping certain wakelocks, and I agree that it would be great if it could be done...

Something keeping my device awake

I am not having any battery life issues, but I know I can get better usage out of the phone if I could figure out what is causing battery drain.
Here is my usage so far, WiFi has been off 90% of the time, but notice how it shows WiFi as on the whole time:

I installed the "wake lock detector" app, and here are the results:
Wakelock triggers:
CPU wakelock:
I tried finding those exact processes in "Disable Service" app, but they do not exist. Also I do not understand why WiFi shows as always on when it is off.
I am on the Pure Shamu 5.0.1 ROM, default kernal.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regarding WiFi always on; there's an option in the WiFi settings under Advanced that allows the phone to continuously scan for WiFi networks even when WiFi is toggled off. This is on by default.
I imagine this is why the devices report WiFi on even if you've turned it off.

I bet its the same thing a few of us have ... its been discussed a fair bit here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/n6-battery-life-owners-thread-t2946742/page62
Basically it seems its a process called " sensor.ind" once it starts up , it just doesn't shut off and keeps the device awake all the time. haven't found a fix.
Also it didn't show up in wakelock detector, but it does in betterbatterystats under " kernel"

Regarding your Wakelocks... You have some of the top offenders on your phone. Facebook, Search and the rest of the Google Apps like Hangouts and Google Plus. Then judging by your Greenify Wakelocks it looks like your phone is hibernating certain apps only to have them woken up fairly quickly.
Now it's easier to tell if you truly have an issue by using Better Battery Stats and leaving your phone unplugged and idle over night and then grabbing a Dump File first thing in the morning.
Those stats you posted do let you know what has been running, but it is during moderate to heavy use.
Some suggestions...
Allow for Greenifying of System apps under experimental features and Greenify everything. Get rid of the Facebook app and use the site. Turn off Sync and Notifications for only the essential apps and manually sync. If you're a moderate to heavy user anyways you won't be missing out too much and manual sync works well.
Personally I ditch most Google apps and Greenify the ones I do use. I also use Nova Launcher and don't use Google Now and Search or OK Google. However I still think if you tamed your apps you should be in good shape and be able to use the Google apps you enjoy.
Download App Ops from the Play Store and deny permission to Google Play Services for "Keep Awake"
Its a huge battery drain. And no there are no side effects by denying permission. Been doing that ever since Google Play Services have been draining battery.
You also use Facebook + Messenger which are known contributors to poor battery life especially messenger. I don't know if you have "Ok Google" on all the time or google now but disable that, google search is using way too much battery.

Got better battery stats, will be testing this out tonight before I Greenify any system apps or switch back to Nova. I personally like the google now launcher a lot because of the ability to just swipe right to access google now. Its not as smooth in Nova with a gesture, or as swipe up the home button.
As far as sync, I couldn't find any way to turn off sync for each app like in KitKat. Now there is only an option to turn off sync for all apps (under Settings > Accounts).

I'm going to check better battery stats tonight, and then change things up tomm accordingly. I'll probably end up uninstalling Facebook + messenger. If there is still battery drain my google search (which I'm sure will still be there), I will use app ops to deny those permissions and report back on my findings.
And I do not have OK google on all the time, but I do use Google now. Yes, I know google search is using too much battery, that's is what I was hoping to tackle.

No it doesn't disable that feature. I've done this for over 4 months since I've had the oneplus one which suffered from this same problem.
Battery is much better with the permission denied as it consumes a large amount of battery and wakelock.

Go to your Accounts, Click on Google, then click on your email address and you'll see all the apps and their sync options.
Based on the suggestions I received, I've done some things over the past few days to see what changes.
What I did:
Uninstalled: Facebook, Messenger (Facebook), Google (search).
Disabled: OK google detection, Google Now.
Installed: Better Battery Stats, Greenify (pro), Wakelock Detector.
Turned off auto sync for most google apps.
Greenified all apps possible plus system apps (with pro version).
My initial screenshots are in the original thread, I was seeing much less "device awake" time after uninstalling the few apps. Here are my results after a full days use:
The device awake time is still at 65%, even after uninstalling the apps listed above. Upon taking these screenshots, I fully charged my N6 to 100%, then took it off charge, restarted it, and left it overnight for 7-ish hours. The drain over this period was a small 3%, which was great, didn't have to recharge when I woke up. Screen shots below.
Upon seeing dicks sporting goods causing lots of wakelocks, I uninstalled the app today. I had right around 4 hours SOT. I was at work for 8 hours, which is at the first floor of a airport garage, and there is barely any signal, so i believe I could have gotten better results had it been a college (nonwork) day. Here are the screenshots from right now, at 13% battery.
Couldn't post any more screenshots in previous post, so here they are:
You should be looking at CPU wakelocks and not wakeup triggers. Wakeup triggers just shows what processes were scheduled to automatically wake up to do certain tasks. CPU wakelocks shows which apps actually kept the phone awake.
You can also turn on the kernel wakelocks in the settings menu to see what system processes are keeping the phone awake.

Drain impossible to fix

Hello,
After many weeks trying to solve Google Play Services, I still have this boring issue.
I'm using Slimm Rom 3.8 with Locked Bootloader
- GPS, Wifi and NFC always off
- Stamina always on
- Brightness under 25%
I don't use much the phone (No facebook, less than 30min on internet, no Youtube, no Music)
I tried :
- to disable SystemUpdateService from Google Play Services and Google Framework with the App "Disable Servces"
- Uninstall updates of Google Play Services and reinstall in both way (Play Store / with APK)
- Using Amplify, AppOpsXposed, Greenify, PowerNap (from this link : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884) and Force Doze
- Disable all Xposed modules (for now I'm using Android N-ify, BootManager, Greenify, Hide Emergency Button & Marshmallow SD Fix)
- Factory reset / flash KitKat .ftf file / Root again / Flash Slimm Rom
I also tried with other Rom like eXistenZ Marshmallow v5.6.5 and AOXP 1.5.7 ROM but I till have the issue.
I took some screenshots so maybe it can help you find what is causing drain.
Thank you in advance for your help
i use slimm and sometimes the battery percentage is going for example from 65% to 59% ,etc, and not only; i had xperience rom from marillia, cm12, existenz, and some - resulty is same. Next time my friend, dont buy SONY!!! ) that i said to myself. Anyway, what i saw from ur picture, google play services drain a lot of battery; also ur signal is very poor.
Try to set ur network to gsm only (not lte./edge) for normal use, and see that guide...maybe will help u. Also that
I've been fighting with Google Play Service for months because of the battery drain problem. In the end (tired of changing rom ecc..) I founded the solution on the last Xperia Concept Rom without root. Now the drain is totally gone, and I get 2 days battery life with ~5/6h screen time (using greenify only for aggressive doze, and having FB, Messenger, WA, telegram, gmail ecc..). Before, on others rom I couldn't get more than 4h screen time lately, so I'm super happy

I have posted several times in this thread ways to fix the Google battery drain. It's now such a long thread that some people may have missed my previous posts, so to summarise : (this is not guaranteed to fix your phone, I am just trying to help)
Method 1
Factory reset, restart to recovery, flash full Slim rom(nothing else) . Restart. Log in to Google from scratch, leave the phone for some time before installing any mods. Let Google phone home and set the phone up before installing Xposed, amplify, firewall etc etc.
Restore apps with Titanium Backup, but just apps+data, NO system apps, NO Google apps. I realise a full factory reset is beyond most users compression, but this is really the best way and will fix 90% of the problems I see posted on the thread.
Method 2
The lazy 'I don't believe I need to do a factory reset' method
Disable all Xposed modules, go into airplane mode, no wifi.
Reboot phone.
Delete your Google account.
Use Titanium Backup to delete the data on the following apps:
Google account manager
Google backup transport
Google play services
Google play store
Gmail
Google calendar sync
Google contacts sync
Google bookmarks sync
Google services framework
Download manager
(it will get more & more difficult to do this as once you remove the Google account, Google. gms, keeps FCing)
Reboot to recovery, wipe cache & dalvik, reboot phone.
Enable network.
Add Google account, leave it with 'synchronise accounts' for some time, let Google do its thing before enabling Xposed or any other system mods(important)
Enabling a firewall or excessive privacy control (like trying to mask your IMEI or account) will just piss GPS off and it will try even harder to phone home, causing huge battery drain. The more you try and block the various Google services the more they try get out.
I don't believe that the battery drain is connected to this rom specifically. I know the Dev has made some tweaks to try and help, but if you take the time to read the Google forums, this problem effects most makes of phone and all firmware versions.
Edit: You should always do a recovery backup before making any changes to your phone, I am not responsible blah blah blah

You need to go through the apps one by one on that list in your picture and disable background data because there's no need for them to do that I have all background data disabled on my phone and everything works fine.

Go through every single app.. Go in settings and then apps and tap every app and then tap Mobile data and untick background data so it doesn't allow it.
So, I was getting fairly good battery life until recently. I started to use Power Shade and I think it was soon after that that my battery started to really take a nose dive. I even paid for the upgraded part of the app. A couple of days later - and the app is no longer even offered in the Play Store. What's up with that?

So, I was getting fairly good battery life until recently. I started to use Power Shade and I think it was soon after that that my battery started to really take a nose dive. I even paid for the upgraded part of the app. A couple of days later - and the app is no longer even offered in the Play Store. What's up with that?

People keep doing that in the play store to rip people off just request a refund from the play store!

Well, I had paid for Material Notification Shade and told him - then he sent me a code for this app.
But, does anyone else have experience with this app ****ing up their battery life?

Never used it myself but if it was removed from Play Store like that it sounds shady...wouldn't be surprised if it was poorly optimized, leading to excessive drain.

I turned it off (didn't fully uninstall it) and I turned off all of its permissions. Is it still going to damage my phone? Is the damage now irrevocable?

I would probably just uninstall that app completely and test from there (BUT keep in mind that if it's been removed from the Play Store, then you won't be able to use it again unless you have the apk to re-install it).
If the problem persists, then maybe it's not that app after all and it's something else. If you can't identify the specific problem or app, then you can always do a factory reset as a last resort. I don't think your phone is damaged, just a rogue apps or permissions.
Well, it's now back again.
I turned it on and let my phone sit, unused, for one hour. My battery dropped 5%.
I turned it off and let my phone sit, unused, for one hour. My battery dropped 2%.
So, is it safe to say this is the culprit?
I have AccuBattery - would that tell me something or BetterBatteryStats would tell me better?

An hour isn't really much time, so hard to say for sure. Try it for a day at least and see if the problem is really solved. Sounds like that app was likely causing drain though. Accubattery is fine, there's also GSAM, etc.
Edit: I see you started your own thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=78501408

Disable automatic Google Backups (Google Drive, Photos, etc.), go to settings and disable backup data in your google account. Also make sure that media auto-download is not enabled in social media apps like WhatsApp and Telegram.
I installed this notif shade app, beside the fact that I really did not like it, I also noticed a high batt drain, and that it constantly tried to access internet , seeing this, I just uninstalled it

How to get notification without freezing GSF

Below is a third version of the guide (ok, it's 3.5). As of January, 15th I've added great finding by @Seresseran1. Thanks man!
The below guide will provide you with fully working Google services, play store will work, push notifications will work, location accuracy etc. Everything will work until you restart the phone without enabling flight mode first. Then you might start receiving play protect notifications and you have to redo the procedure.
Prerequisite : GMS has to be installed and fully working without play protect notifications. Any method of installation should be OK, i prefer manual but Googlifier is fine.
1a. Run following commands using ADB:
adb shell
cmd appops set com.google.android.gsf RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore
cmd appops set com.google.android.gsf RUN_ANY_IN_BACKGROUND ignore
cmd appops write-settings
1b. Open Settings - Apps - App Launch
Tap the three dots, select "Show system Processes".
Search For Google Services Framework.
Change from Manage Automatically- To Manage Manually. Deselect Options "Auto-launch" and "Run in background". Only secondary launch remains selected.
2. Put phone in airplane mode. It's very important!
3. Open Settings, go to Apps, Apps, tap three dots, select Show system processes, find Google Services Framework. Open it.
4. If you have frozen Gsf defrost it (enable).
5. Stop it if it's running. Go to Storage, clear cache, clear data. Stop it again if necessary.
6. Restart the phone.
7. Do not disable airplane mode yet! Wait few minutes in airplane mode or check with Device ID app if you see your GSF ID.
8. Disable airplane mode and check play store. If you see error message, close it from task list and try again.
If you restart the phone without enabling airplane mode first all you have to do is redo above guide starting from point 2.
If you see play protect notifications do not panic! Enable airplane mode, go to settings, apps, apps, find Google framework services, goto storage, stop it, clear cache, clear data, restart your phone then you should be good.
I do not use Google apps except maps, but they should work. Remember that using above guide does not mean your device will get play protect certification. So, Google pay will not work for sure.
Nice it works. Playstore and all push Notification works whiteout problems. Thanks man

1. Install device ID app to get Google service id. Copy it. If you have frozen gsf, defrost it to get ID.
2. Register gsf id on https://www.google.com/android/uncertified/
3. Freeze GSF and make sure your apps are having notifications. You can use push notification tester to check if push is supported and fully working.
4. Wait. At least a day or two.
5. Put phone in airplane mode. It's very important!
6. Defrost GSF. Wait few minutes in airplane mode. Do not restart phone.
7. Disable airplane mode and check play store. If you see error message, close it from tak list and try again.

So far tested on two different p40 pro and mate 30 pro. All three devices working great

What you mean with "sometimes they still take a while"? If push notifications work, they work like should in theory.
I waited 6 hours but i have always this error:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I will try to wait more. The gfs id is registred well, it's always the same number.

Did you see, that your Device is registered for Google Play Protect? For me, there is no About Option at Playstore Settings.
I am trying on Mate 30 Pro. (Waiting for 1 or 2 days)
Thank you for sharing.
I will share in here if i can success
Slightly edited OP. Looks like sometimes you have to wait just an hour or two and it's enough.
In worst case scenario you will get play protect notifications; then you have to clear cache, data, freeze gsf and wait bit longer. When you freeze gsf all your apps will still have push notifications, only playstore will not work (and google location accuracy0.
Hi all,
Can you confirm that it works more than 8 hours and even after reboot? Cause there was an option before that was working only for 8 hours or till next update.
P.S. can you also confirm that GSF ID stays the same? Because after I defrost it, it is same as registered. Once I reboot, it changes different value and I start getting errors.
