Trying to update magisk via direct install using latest magisk manager v23 on rooted S10 on pie.

Install goes well according to this ^
But when I hit reboot, and then hold down power+bixby+vol-up to get back into root mode, it always gives this error when starting magisk app

So the update fails every time.
Since Magisk Manager v23 wont even show the current magisk version- upon downgrading to MM 8.0.7, we see that it never upgraded magisk past 19.4 (19302)
Also the "additional setup" never completes when we try that from 8.0.7, fyi, and the Update button is greyed out too.

What is the next step to getting magisk 20.4+ working with a recent version of the app?
Thanks!

I'm fighting with magisk, so first of all I installed latest Magist Manager and via Manager I download Magisk latest version (20400). Then I boot my phone into recovery mode (TWRP) and install zip with magisk. Here everything is good, magisk should be installed without problems. But when I open Magisk Manager I get error "Magisk is not installed". Also There is a problem with SafetyNet Check (ctsProfile: false).
Magisk v20.4 doesn't support A11... You need to use the Canary release or wait for the next beta/stable release.
And note that there has been issues with Magisk and A11 if you have TWRP installed. Booting TWRP without installing it has been working fine though.

So now I have installed canary version. Via magisk canary i download latest magisk version (20425) and install it via TWRP and now it looks like Magisk is installed but still safetyNet check failed and also I cannot hide Magisk Manager so = I cannot still use it.
SafetyNet: https://www.didgeridoohan.com/magisk/MagiskHide#hn_SafetyNet
And you need to be more detailed if you want help. What doesn't work about hiding the Manager? Also: https://www.didgeridoohan.com/magisk/Magisk#hn_Cant_hide_the_Magisk_Manager

There was an update to magisk and after installing it I lost root. I used magisk manager to download it and install it. I still have magisk manager. Is this common when updating?
When I try to flash the patched boot image, I am just stuck on the google "G" boot screen forever.

Normally, right after updating magisk manager you open it back up and there is an indication that magisk needs to now be updated as well. You click it and choose "direct install".
I have an older CLT-L29 laying around still on 8.1.0.157.
It is running Magisk 6.1.0(165) with Magisk manager 17.1. If I update the manager app then it asks me to update Magisk or it will not work. Can I just update Magisk directly from within the app - using direct install or can it cause some issues ?
Thanks.
Dear Team,

In my case, when I click the update button while on Canary 23016, Magisk Manager simply evaporates with no error, no log. I'm going to try patching a boot image. I have the January update, Pixel 6 stock.

So, it turned out to be a bit of a confusing UI "language". I had the 24.1 app installed, but it had an update button next to it. The Magisk library had the typical "install" button rather than "update". I clicked install and was able to proceed normally.
Edit: Spoke too soon. It updated, and I rebooted, but it still showed the Canary. I finally had to delete the app (which was still actually the canary version, but crashed on update) and install the new APK. After reboot.... The proper version is now applied - 24.1.
Whew!
