App watchdog - MTCB Android Head Units General

Hi I'm looking for some kind of watchdog app which takes care that my radar warning and the dashcam app is always running in the background and restart it if it's not.
Any ideas how to realize that?
Cheers

Would this be for MTCB head units which are no longer sold and came with Android 4.4

[Q] Is Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 Working?

I am just wondering if anyone has had success getting Bluetooth Track metadata to be listed when syncing to bluetooth devices such as ones found in our cars. I have a Ford Focus and when I send media to the Ford Sync system using things like Pandora or BeyondPod, the only information listed is "Unknown" under the bluetooth category.
I know that this in particular was an Android issue and was not support through Android until 4.3 Jelly Bean. My previous phone was a Galaxy S3 rooted with Tasks latest rom running Android 4.3 and that device works properly. It syncs immediately with the car stereo and track listings are displayed properly as well as incoming text messages display on the screen.
This is not the case with my brand new Galaxy Note 3. I assumed that since it was running Android 4.3 and supported the newer bluetooth standards that it would perform similarly. That might have been my first mistake...assuming....but is anyone else having similar issues? Can someone point me in a direction that I might be doing something wrong? Im really hoping its just a setting I am missing and not something that Samsung decided to leave out or forgot about.
Thanks in advance.

It works on Note 3, in fact it works on all 4.3's now, I've had this issue on Nexus 4 and the last few new updates it started working.
You can see the name of song and artist and so on...

Thanks for the reply. I have had it working on a couple of 4.3 devices now, including my own Galaxy S3 running 4.3 and on all of those devices I really did not have to do anything besides sync the Phone with the device and send a Pandora track to it. Did you confirm it is working on the Note 3 in particular, and if so, did you have to turn any settings on or do anything special to get it to send the data?
As of right now, the song is played by the bluetooth device but no track information is displayed. This is also supposed to work for text messages, however I dont see that information displayed either. I want to confirm it is working on these Note 3 so I can try and narrow down a software or hardware issue.
Doesn't work on my Note, syncd with a Kenwood DDX429.

Maybe S3 did not the lates updates.
Nexus 4 is like the lates you can get them, and NOTE 3 just came out so should have latest.
I can confirm BT work amazing with all the proper displaying, SMS, pictures in phonebook and so on on my NOTE 3 N900W8 and my Ford SYNC, touch, latest firmware.
I did not have to do anything special, just paired and done.
Voice clarity and sound volume are amazing.
One problem BT creats a wakelocck "bluetooth_timer" trying to figure it out why.
Thanks for that.. So we have a Note 3 that works and one that doesn't. My Note 3 is an N900A on ATT..... I wonder if there is a carrier software issue at play here?
Can anyone else on different carriers confirm or deny the functionality of this feature?

After a bit more testing, it looks like my text messages on my N900A actually do work with the car bluetooth unit. Which makes things a bit more odd since I know that before I got 4.3 on my S3, I was not able to receive any information on the display. Once I upgraded to 4.3 then everything just started working.
Since your N900A seems to work properly it makes me wonder if something is wrong with this particular phone. I'll have to test with a friends Note 3 and see what happens.
What apps were you using that worked properly? Did you do anything special (i.e. settings, app settings, etc) or like previously mentioned, did you just sync the phone and everything started working?

Try looking if there is a new soft for the car.
Also I've checked the "bluetooth_timer" wakelock problem, and if you press "cancel" when phone asks you to allow messages, and you don't check markalways allow for the phone book, the wakelock is not a problem. Also don;t set phonebook to auto download if you have the option, just do one time download.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I just upgraded the car software to the latest release as of last month. I also ruled that out because the S3 is working just fine. Where before it was on Android 4.3 I would not see any info on the screen.
At this point I might be leaning towards a defective phone, due to text messages appearing on the screen but no metadata, but I will try some more testing. I have access to a second Note 3 that I will try to sync up and see what happens.
I am hoping I get some more feed back before I resort to replacing the unit. We shall see.

that sucks, but I highly doubte it's the phone defect, it's just software of the car or phone. Best bet is to wait for CM ROM for this phone CM worked always best for me re: car bluetooth.
Also some cars are just bad that way I tried my Nexus 4 on brand new Infinity FX fully loaded everything, the phone would not even connect to their system
My friend has Infinity EX35 2008, his Andorid phone would not allow him to play music through BT or cable, but I gave him my old crappy Iphone 3G and it works perfectly.
Try googling your car's smartphone supported list. Like this but for your car: here
My best suggestion keep the phone try not to get bothered by this and eventually it will work, I had to wait for about 5-6 month till it started working again. It all has to do with software updates and BT files.

I thought of that too, just wait for software patch or CM. Its my OCD that is getting in the way. The phone seems to work fine otherwise. I know its a little thing and it could also just be that the phone is newer then my car and car software so it may just take some time to get the kinks worked out.
I'll give it a few more days and see who else replies before I do anything rash I did live with the S3 just fine with no metadata before it got upgraded. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'll keep your wakelock suggestions in mind as well.

No problem, I've had lot's BT issues and been trying to solve then over the years. It's surprising not that many people use phones here with car BT's like that, so not many replies

Ford Focus Titanium 2013, I really appreciate it.
It always makes me laugh when I see so many people who have bluetooth in their vehicle or a fancy smartphone and have no idea what they can do together Its a curse being the tech guy and knowing what things can do and agonizing over some specific issue that the normal person/user doesn't even realize is there. I.E. metadata on the display.
Me: "The phone isn't working right"
Normal Person: "Does the car play the song?"
Me: "Ya"
Normal Person: "Then what's the problem"
Me: "Its supposed to do more tho...gahhhh"

Bluetooth AVRCP issues
I have used multiple devices in my car and the song information always displays correctly. Ever since I purchased my Note 3, I have noticed that my car's
display gets stuck on the first song's information and never switches. The songs will correctly play and quality does not seem to be impaired.
I have not found a way to update my car's software but I will look into it. Just wanted to add my issues to the thread.
I have the AT&T SM-N900A version of the Note and my car is a 2012 Honda Civic Si.

Thanks for the reply, I would bet Samsung is doing things a little differently with these new phones and it might take a bit for the Manufacturers to catch up. I have also read on a couple other sites that AVRCP 1.3 may not be implemented properly and might need to be updated by Samsung, it is unknown at this point but hopefully I will be able to test this out with a Tmobile Note 3 this afternoon and report back on how things look.
With my ATT Note 3, I get text messages on the screen (which I didnt on the S3 prior to updating) but I dont get any track info.
Lets keep the confirmations coming, maybe we can narrow down a make and model and let the Carriers/Samsung know they need to fix something if its broke.

Text notifications

Hi. I posted briefly before about a problem I was having. I have a nexus 6p and a vw 2016 head unit. Everything works really well & connects instantly etc except: I am not getting any notification sound for incoming text or hangouts messages. This is not very safe as you have to keep looking at the screen to make sure you haven't missed anything important. The strange thing is that this corrected itself on a recent journey and it was bleeping incoming messages just fine. But now it's gone back to complete silence again?! I'm not aware of having changed anything in set up. Is there anything I could have missed in terms of settings?
Any thoughts or experiences welcome.
Thanks.

You're not alone. I have found a post somewhere were someone was experiencing the same issue. I also have this issue. No matter what application, there is no notification sound. I think they've changed something in the code that doesn't allow the notifications to gain audio focus, therefore it doesn't play notification sounds. I made a work around using tasker. It seems when I use tasker and use the "say" command (for TTS) and have it set to respect audio focus, then it will interrupt (audio ducking) the audio on the stereo and say whatever I need it to say. I use Autonotification and a few other things to trigger the TTS. For example, if I get a telegram message it will say "New Telegram Message".

Ok. Thanks for your thoughts on this. The thing I find quite strange too, is that the time it was functioning correctly, was definately since the last AA update version. End of March I believe. Now it no longer functions in my case and to my knowledge there have been no software updates to either AA or the phone itself since then to change anything . Stranger and stranger!
Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I'm having exactly this issue on a Nexus 5x connecting to a Kia Niro stock Android Auto head unit.
When connected, new messages received in Google Messenger and WhatsApp generate notification cards on the head unit and are read when tapping the card. However no notification tone is generated when the message is received.
Are you guys still having the same issue? Or did you find a resolution..

Hi. In my experience, I don't think there are any solutions as such. There are many "solutions" talked about on forums and it seems some of them work for some & not others and even amongst those that they work for, they may not work all the time. Therefore they can hardly be called a solution really. My experience of this is that it seems to depend on the software of the phone rather than just the AA app. By that I mean that after I upgraded my Nexus 6p from android 6 to android 7, performance on android auto in the car has been much more reliable. Pretty much 100% as it should work in fact.

Thanks for responding - I expected as much, just wanted to avoid a DenverCoder9 scenario.
I've implemented a workaround for now using existing an existing Tasker + OutLoud profile to announce the message arrival over the media connection. Hopefully it'll simply start working one day..
And my notifications on a vw at are too loud. Try to increase the volume while you have a notification playing
I, too was having this issue and I think I have it solved, at least for my situation. Once I turned off AT&T's Advanced Messaging, I began to receive all my text notifications again. I know this solution might not apply to everyone but I know other carriers have similar features that may also cause issues.

Huawei Mate 9 Pro not stabile with Endomondo

Having issues with my Huawei Mate Pro 9 and endomondo, sometimes it runs fine but at other times it crashed after 20 minutes or and hour or more. I have done all the whitelisting i can on the power settings, still it's not stabile, any ideas?
If it crashes you might want to contact the developers. You can email them directly via the Play Store.

Sure. Open the Play Store, find Endomondo, scroll down, tap 'Send email'.
Describe the problem in detail, what version of Endomondo you're running, phone model, firmware version and Android version. They will let you know if they need any more info like crash logs.

It's a GPS fix issue - device is losing fix when you stop moving. Let me c/p my Strava forum post:

I would like to chime in on this . I have the Mate 9 AL00 Chinese firmware model.. Have since using the Edomondo app with my bike ride since I bought the device from December 16. It never missed a bit with the GPS tracking. Not sure if I'm just lucky. And ride is range from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour each ride.

Seams like doing the following does help on stability:
Changing the power settings for Endomondo in:
Settings->battery->power saving from apps->close apps on screen lock->Endomondo - disable
And:
Settings->apps->settings->special access->ignore battery optimizations->Endomondo->allow
And install GPS locker to keep a lock on GPS while using Endomondo, and set GPS lock to launch Endomondo when it gets a fix on GPS.
I still believe it is a power issue, but now I can use Endomondo without issues.
I'm on the B156 software.

Gps stopped working. Kind of

So i recently switched from sprinit to verizon and at the sametime updated my phone with the new system update. Since then my gps randomly stops keeping track of my location in a trip. I downloaded a gps tool from the app store and when it happens i use the app to reset my gps and it works. But then later if I use google maps again it randomly gives me the same issue. Its a easy enough fix but its annoying to have to keep doing that.
Was hoping there was some kind of fix or am I just unlucky and the gps is starting to go out.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Ya I switched over from global to lte/cmda like chefji suggested and it helped were its not occuring as much but I still have the issue. Hopefully it gets fixed. If not i may have to try to revert back to an older update.
I just saw this thread after posting my questio above. Same issue and I'm on Verizon too. Mine has always been a Verizon phone. I dont recall exactly when the problem started but definitely within last 2 months. Never had issues before. For me, the workaround seems to be to use an app called GPS Fix/Optimizer and on the home page of that app, click on the button that says System off on bottom left and turn it to System on. I hate having to do these extra steps and never had a problem with any other Android phone doing this.
Try wiping the Cache Partition. If that doesn't help, backup your device and perform a Hard Factory reset.

Wipe cache partition but there is no reason to do a hard factory reset. This is a GPS problem and not a software issue. It is not isolated to Note 8 phones but seems to affect S9, S9+, Note 9, Note 10, and possibly a few others. It also started early Feb after Note 8's received a security update and the others received the Android 10 update. Samsung, Google, and especially Verizon are all pointing fingers at each other for blame instead of working together to try and come up with a fix. One thing I have found is that unlike the countless Android phones I have had in the past, there is absolutely no way to control the GPS. There no longer is an on/off switch. The best available choice is to search deep in settings to find Location but the only thing it controls is on/off switches for Wifi Scanning or bluetooth scanning. Turning both of those on now is considered High Accuracy. The only thing that has worked for me is using an app called GPS Fix/Optimizer in conjunction with an app called GPS Status. By using both of those apps before using Waze or Google maps, allows me to successfully navigate and it can find my exact position. I have also discovered that besides Waze and G Maps, many are reporting the same kind of problem with other location based apps such as Uber and Lyft. This needs to be fixed and I could care less which company is at fault but one of them needs to step up or all need to come together and figure out the problem...

Wipe cache partition but there is no reason to do a hard factory reset. This is a GPS problem and not a software issue. It is not isolated to Note 8 phones but seems to affect S9, S9+, Note 9, Note 10, and possibly a few others. Hello, I am having the same problem. I have a Galaxy Note 8 from AT&T, this problem started end of February, workaround is to switch the location OFF and then back ON but is annoying. I reset network, clear cache and nothing fixed the problem so I thought was a problem in the phone itself so I submitted a claim to Asurion, got the brand new replacement phone and the following day exact same problem appeared.
Now reading this thread I am fully convinced that is a bug. I hope it gets solved ASAP.
I posted about this on another thread and what I have stumbled on:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82337821&postcount=18
I have seemed to narrow it down to it only happening when I connect my Note 8 to my 2016 Chevy Silverado and use Waze or Google maps on my radio via Android Auto. I made a few changes that I mentioned in the above thread to the battery settings for a couple apps. Because of the VID, I haven't been driving as much so I haven't done a lot of testing but this has seemed to help.
Well I thought it was fixed but it doesnt seem to be and it really seems to be an Android Auto glitch. Just yesterday, I had to run a couple errands and had phone plugged in for Android Auto. First couple trips, it worked just fine. Then one more trip, all I saw was the floating blue dot in Waze. While still plugged in to my Chevy, I went to GPS Fix and clicked to turn system on. I then went to GPS Status and it couldnt get a location fix. In GPS Status, I also selected Manage A-GPS State. First I tried reset and no fix. Then I did download and again, no fix. I gave it a little bit of time to see if it would work but it didnt. So next I unplugged my phone from my Chevy and again checked in GPS Status and no fix. I again went into Manage A-GPS State, reset, no fix, then download, and it fixed on my location right away. So for me, this is really pointing to an Android Auto issue. Hopefully a fix will come along soon...
Just to add, Waze had already been started once I fired up the Android Auto on the My Link Chevy radio as I had started a route. Waze was still running in the background when I disconnected from my Chevy radio so that kind of eliminates Waze as the problem, at least for me. Especially when GPS Status couldnt get a fix while I still had Android Auto running on my Chevy but as soon as I disconnected and ran through the GPS Status reset and download, I had a fix and Waze worked fine again.
Has this been resolved yet? Any fixes found?
Not completely resolved yet but the annoying workaround gets it working again. It should just work on it's own without all the extra steps. And I was able to get semi confirmation after creating a thread in the Google Support sub forum for Android Auto. I am being told that when plugging in the phone to use Android Auto that Android Auto attempts to also connect to the gps in my Chevy. It's kind of confusing and dont quite understand exactly what is happening. My vehicle does not have a dedicated gps system but I am being told that there could be some kind of GPS in the vehicle anyway and that could be causing the problem. I call BS on this info but I also didnt have any part of creating Android Auto. If this is what is happening, it pretty much says that Android Auto is probably the cause of the issue. I dont need military precision on my gps location and my phone inside my house will give me an accuracy of around 10 feet. No reason to be more accurate than that and this shouldn't even be a part of the Android Auto app.
https://support.google.com/androidauto/thread/45792804?hl=en
I posted this in the other thread but I'll add it here for completeness. I'm having the same issue on an unbranded note 8. But I'm not using android auto. I can use gps tools and it holds a lock fine. But if additional programs are launched, waze, maps, jbv1 I lose lock.
My Note 8 has the problem, I am not using WAZE, I am using The FitBit App with my VERSA 2, My Husband has the Note 9 and is using the FitBit App with his VERSA 2. His resulting miles walked and my resulting miles walked should be almost identical. They are not. I am consistently showing less miles than he does. When looking at the exercise map, generated by the GPS data, His walk path follows the streets we walked accurately, while mine cuts the corners, has me walking in drunken path across the properties located near the road and in some instances cutting across non walkable terrain. Giving me less mileage than my husband. Thankfully, my steps are accurately accounted for. I want this problem fixed. I don't like being cheated of my exercise miles.
Any update here? Note8 on Verizon. Having the same problem with Endomondo (fitness app) and Google Maps. Hard reset phone, and it's still problematic. For me, it might start out working fine, then midway thru a run it will stop. Usually resetting the app will make it work again.
I use T-mobile, and I tried just about everything and almost gave up. Today I was thinking that mayve its the wifi and bluetooth settings helping the GPS so I went to location and turned off the wifi and bluetooth improve accuracy settings and problem is fixed for me! So much headache gone. I was about to buy a new phone.

Keep us updated if this continues to work. I will try this as well to see if it helps on mine too.

I just tried this and it failed location fix right away after opening Waze in Android Auto on my Chevy. So still searching for a real fix...
Well it looks like the Android Auto developers are starting to listen. After creating a thread on their google community page months ago, and numerous others posting same issue, they said they were going to reach out to several posters by email with directions on creating a bug report to forward to them. They claim they have been unable to recreate the problem and wanted bug reports from several having the problem so they could take a look. I had another failure today on a trip so I created a bug file and forwarded it. We shall see what they find...

Android Auto for phone screens is final stopped?

Even the Android Auto for phone screens was retired for Android 12, you can still use it on old Androids 11, 10. A month ago a message appear "Android Auto for phone screens will stop working soon", but still can use it.
Today I tried to start the app and instead appear the Android Auto settings page and no more Android Auto for phone screens. I have Miui 12.5.7 with Android 11 and Android Auto 7.6.621734-release.
Its only me or they kill out AAFPS for good?
For me the same...
Android Auto is now on the scrap heap; in short it will no longer work as a stand-alone.
Google have thrown a kill-switch (2 days ago now) for discrete mode so that now, it can only work in screen-mirroring mode which necessitates a compatible infotainment system/head unit (check the message it opens with).
The official alternative on offer is Driving Mode in the Google Assistant. It's of dubious quality, especially for devices older than Android 10, where it really is just a shortcut to Google Maps.
Alternative apps/launchers are available but they are either expensive or just plain rubbish (and often both).
I'm sorry to hear this is confirmed. So no more Android Auto, I don't have a compatible infotainment system/head unit.
Driving Mode in the Google Assistant is a just simple no-go. Here in Romania we use a lot Waze for police report, traffic jams and bad roads. Also since romanian language is not supported , you can spell some small commands in english, but to convince it to drive you at address or even to call your mom is very difficult.
So now I'm without alternative .

Indeed - and you are not alone as many reviews on Google Play confirm.
One other option is to roll-back to an older version. If you don't have a backup then APKMirror might be for you:-
Android Auto on APKMirror
FWIW we have an older, 7/Nougat device running ver 7.4.62094-release and it seems to work still.
If you do try this, then be sure and disable auto-update for it in Google Play...

I'll give it a try: my Renault Megane is half destroyed and now I have to use (for long time) a Seat Leon without AA enabled!
I've started AA on my old (but still running fine) Motorola Moto G5 and is not working anymore... Problem is that the phone is running Android 8.1 so Drive Assistant is not available (it needs at least Android 9!)

on my pc I had a few backups, I have removed the current build and installed Android Auto_7.2.620123-release and it worked flawlessly!
I'll look for a more recent build on APKmirror!
Addendum: tried with v7.6 but got the advice. For my Android v8.1 the last working is v7.2!
Thank you for this thread!
This has been nagging me more than usual as AA for Phone Screens was something I've used daily. (strong feedback sent to google, not that it will do any good)
Tried with app version 7.3.620544 on Android 11 and I can launch it a few times, all good and functional. But after a few hours an internal update seems to check the installed and Play store versions, preventing me from starting the application without updating. So reinstall APK again. (a hassle)
Tried creating a re-signed version with Android Studio to block auto-updates, but the re-signed APK install itself is blocked due to signature mismatch - even after uninstalling for user 0. I fear this might be only possible with rooting the phone...
I would very much appreciate any other non-root option to get this functioning again. Curse you google for ruining google.
I also tried to modify the apk.
I was not successful. Therefore I gave up...
Google are literally murderers , besides all the people they have stranded or driven of the road or over ravines with their crappy maps app
they have probably killed thousands in traffic accidents with their garbage software
,this new "driving mode" is no exception , I mean AA was an absolute out of control garbage fire just like GA is but this "driving mode" is over the top
even for the complete morons over at Google.
I can not tell you how many accidents I have almost got into since they removed trusted voice unlock and now that this POS driving mode has replaced AA it has gotten MUCH worse, they should be sued for this dangerous crap they have forced on us, I will NOT be buying another pixel EVER.
fist of all this POS continually turns the screen off and locks the device forcing me to unlock the phone continuously while driving,
they are so S all stupid they didn't even bother to make it rotate to landscape mode and my car mount is for landscape only. (only people who hold their guns sideways would want to use their phones in portrait mode as they always seem to do when taking word star videos)
the "driving mode" is pure trash ,there are no audio controls, you can't use it if you just want to listen to music and for phone calls because it's tied to maps and you have be using navigation to use it.
there is NOTHING here of any value I mean who TF wants to read the New York Slimes, ever and especially WHILE DRIVING, yeah great replacement to music apps and music controls.
There is no way in hell I would ever give these evil bastards my biometric data so here I am trying to unlock my phone with a pattern every 30 seconds while it is mounted landscape and the unlock pattern is in portrait mode, I have to tilt my head or try and figure out my lock pattern adjusted for it being tilted 90 degree off while I'm driving every 30 seconds because the screen keeps turning off and locking the device even though I have "smartlock" (DUMBlock) enabled and my cars bluetooth added as a "trusted device" as well as a smart band, but it just seems to ignore the fact both are connected.
how in the actual F do any of these imbecilic A holes still have jobs, every single last one of them should have been kicked the F out on their arses a long time ago. , maybe we need to get Elon over there.

maybe I can throw away my pixel 3a XL and just go back to my old 6p on Nougat
this is not acceptable, what other options are there, I have an echo auto I never set up maybe that will be better.

F it, I am just going to throw away my pixel and go back to IOS
I am F ing done , removal of trusted voice unlock was bad enough but this is the last straw.
My idea is to install an alternative launcher as soon as you are connected to your car's Bluetooth system. I mean a launcher made for driving with big icons and so on.
With tasker you could additionally make a task to increase the display timeout to infinite when connected to your car's Bluetooth system.

Because they have done exactly what The Chocolate Factory wants.
Android Auto was quite good in the past but then they realised a serious problem: It hurts sales.
So the aim then became to make everybody sick of it by degrees, breaking it a piece at a time until expectations reduce to the point the user base ebbs away.
So what's in it for them? Google are betting that Android's 'popularity' will oblige most of us to seek an alternative - but only if works with their device; that means buying a new infotainment system - one that is either Android Auto or stand-alone Android.
Google and OEMs (JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer etc) now have another major market cornered and if they have done their math right, all of us switching over will mean a windfall of revenue in new hardware sales and licence fees.
As for looking for a launcher, well good luck with that. We've tried several but not one has the ability to switch between driving and phone mode.
These two probably represent the best of what's left but again, neither is properly polished even for the paid versions:-
DashDroid on Google Play
AutoMate on Google Play
Failing that, get a TomTom!

Thing is most cars don't have it still
the stand alone android units just suck because they don't have any connection method unless they use your phone as a hotspot , unless they have some with sim cards, but now sim cards are being phased out too, and I would not spend more money a month just to keep my head unit connected to GSM
I would buy a head unit if they made one that had wireless android auto baked in but there are none, at least not what I want, I want one for my BMW E46 that looks pretty close to stock, Android head units like that are a dime a dozen for this thing but none of them have AA or wireless AA
,what they should really make is a tablet that has wireless AA built in
or a fire tablet that acts as an echo show auto but with a screen
that you can mount to your dash ,sucks that all the hardware has been there to this for like a decade but because of theese big cancer monopolies we can't use the hardware to its full potential
I have yet to try reloaded yet but I have feeling it will not be good
but here is no reason this can't run on low end tablet like a fire tablet
maybe I will finally get around to trying out my echo auto that I picked up for $20 that has been sitting here not even unboxed for over a year now
thing is that my grom unit is a PITA to pair to my phone , you need to pull 3 different fuses to erase it and repair a new device and then once you do the feature that send the ID4 tags to the display on the radio might not work then you have to pair it all over agian , I am wondering if echo auto will send the track data to the grom and if it will display on the stock radio display like it does with the phone , then maybe I will just ditch GA altogether
its a horrible trash fire anyways , if Amazon made a fire phone again with hands free Alexa baked in I would buy it in hearbeat, anything to get rid of GA

F Google , I will NEVER buy another phone from them until they bring back trusted voice unlock and make their phones useable while driving
android is a nothing but a trash fire now, mainly because GA just sucks now
doesn't work while driving , doesn't work with hands free at all not even while using buds, unacceptable trash OS and very dangerous to use while driving people will die in accidents because of Googles moronic decisions and negligence, again F Google I'm out.

Many of us share your frustration and of course, you are at liberty to try alternatives if you think they are better.
Yet this is primarily a help thread and some would say your 'questions' had been answered before you even posted. So please bear in mind that 'going-off on one' does dilute the thread; making it harder for others to find the help they need as it becomes buried in the noise.
Good luck in your quest...

Yes everything Google does frustrates me, these people are absolutely obtuse
ok so do you have any suggestions for alternatives?
maybe there is a 3rd party app?
I have a Grom bluetooth unit and they have an app called dashlinq but I have not tried it yet
not sure how it will work with Google assistant
so are there any other 3rd party apps that do essentially the same thing as AA?
not sure if this dashlinq app uses GA or not or if it has it's own voice recognition.
I am surprised that there is not a way to keep using AA though as there is with Google play music ,which you can stil use if you have the right legacy version installed despite its replacement with YT music.
I am still confident there is a way, and also a bit confused
on weather it is going to work on my phone still since I have not updated past Android 11 , guess I will try installing some older .apk's and see if it is only not working anymore on Android 12.
