hi hope someone can help with this.
I have a huawei p9 32gb EU version
model EVA-L09 emui 4.1.1 (still on) android 6.0 (says no update available)
build number is: EVA-L09C432B182
An issue seems to have developed in the past 2 weeks (i've had it almost a year) - it has decided to close itself down when I try to use the camera. I am using the default/stock camera app not a 3rd party one. I want to make clear it does not happen every time seems (at the moment) quite random/intermittent
The battery was at 79% the first time it happened and a few days ago it was at 55% and it happened. Auto flash was on but flash not activated at the time the phone shut down.
The first time I thought I just hadn't realised the battery was that low but when I plugged it in to charge it said 79% on screen.
A few days ago when it was 55% I was able to put the phone back on after it shut itself down and it was fine/behaved normally since putting it back on - the battery appeared to drain at the usual rate. I even took a few other photos after switching it back on & it didnt shut down. I had been using camera the same morning when the battery % would have been higher & it didn't shutdown then. (& i actually took quite a few photos during that time).
Hope someone out there has an idea of how to fix this issue, though i'm thinking its maybe the a sign the battery may be failing?
I also have this issue, I think it may be a sign the battery is beginning to fail, or possibly the cpu gets too hot. (again first started happening around a year into ownership)
Under 70% battery if i take a bunch of photos it can shut down but would normally turn back on again with 20% less battery. if battery gets less than 50% then if it powers off, it may power back on breifly and then go back to the exclamation mark for empty battery and shut down.
I have tried following the guide to calibrate the battery (let it charge to 100%, turn off, plug back into charger) but it made no difference.
What did help a bit though was ensuring cloud photo apps (google photos/onedrive etc) were set to only upload photos while on wifi and charging.
Hi, I have the same issue with my EVA-L09 with EMUI 4.1.1 build EVA-L09C900B182 bought in october 2016. Shuts down after shooting few photos/videos and can't start it again without plugging it. Once plugged, the battery level seems to be the same as before the shutdown. Seems to happen with any battery level.
If anybody can help solve this, that would be great. I can't decide to change the battery for the moment without certainty that it would fix this issue.

To all of you...unlock bootloader and update firmware. Maybe your issues will be solved. Its a conflict and not a battery issue
Sent from my EVA-L09 using XDA Labs
Any resolution?
I am having the same problem with my L09 and the P9 camera app. Was on Nougat so rolled back to MM in attempt to fix. Also tried a faster SD. No luck with either.
No such issues with other camera apps from Play Store, but they don't use both sensors.
Anybody resolved this problem definitely yet? If yes, how?
Thanks.

I have the same problem since the last 6-9 months.
However I noticed that the problem occurs when I make photos when I'm outside and the weather is windy/damp. I never had the problem when shooting photos inside, always outdoors.
The solution is indeed connecting the phone with a charger (or portable battery) or wait for a couple of hours.
It could be a problem with the battery but it is strange that the phone is ok again after charging a couple of minutes. If it was moisture this idid not yet vanish in just a couple of minutes. Maybe a sensor which is not working ok (or the firmware is not resetting/reading it correctly) ?
I'm thinking of sending my phone into repair for this problem, however I think this is a difficult to identify problem because it does happen randomly (as it seems).
I'm having the same problem, after battery goes under 50% It drains fast, bellow this it only takes 30min of use to shoot down, taking a few photos just makes it drain even faster. And when plugged to the charger it suddenly gets up to 40% . I tried everything software wise with no luck. I bought a new OEM battery planning to change it this week, then I'll post the results.
I am facing the same problem L09C432B395. I observed its somehow being related to cold temperatures outside in my case - it happens only when walking outdoor and the phone is in my hand for a while - so its probably cools down. And than when pressing the camera button I see the message "waiting to sharpen the photo" and then beeeep! battery down to 1% and phone shutdowns. Regardles the battery level.. happening accidentaly and randomly, but only once a week.. and only when taking phone outdoor in a winter time. I did factory reset, re-installed the latest ROM etc but the problem persists. Might be some conflict between battery state and temperature read error?

Update: I change the battery, everything back to normal. I used a OEM battery, screen time is +6h with moderate use during the first row cycles of battery use from 100% to 10%.
Hi all together. Faced the same issue up times (Huawei P9 EVA-L09C432B395, Kamera App 4.1.1) with battery in good state 46 to 76% and taking a picture caused draining it to zero at a moment. Sitting down immediately. BUT only if flash ? is set to bulb-light ?! Tested it several times. Normal (auto/always active) flash is ok - but not bulb-mode...
So, that's obviously the reason - but where's a solution? ?
Some Huawei officials here at xda? ?
Same problem here and without solution yet ... camera causes phone to shutdown and battery indication goes crazy.

Experiencing the same issue on both P9 we have and getting very annoying would be glad to see if is there any solution of this.

These are my exact symptoms - combination of cold and camera gives false battery reading and shuts down phone entirely. Software update hasn't fixed.
I have same problem
EVA-L09C55B383
it's the last firmware
emui 5.0.1
android 7
at 50% battery i make a photo with flash and the p9 turn off.
to turn on i need connect it to recharger.
it's very very impossible.
i think to send it to customer care.
have someone resolved this issue?
i ask to huawei on facebook. i wait a answer.
Any luck with Huawei support for any of you?
Hi,
I'm having the same problem. It's amazing how there's no information at all from Huawei about this issue... it's frustrating. I was planning on buying a P20 during this year and give my P9 to my wife, but if she can't use the camera it's useless. And I will not buy another Huawei if they don't do anything regarding a problem like this one...
Did any of you had any positive experience with Huawei Customer Care?
Thank you!

Did you try yourself any search for custom ROMs ob XDA for Huawei P9?!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development
I tried Huwawei customer care.
Their best offer was factory reset of all firmware!
Install updates doesn't fix.

Even when connected to charger!!
Even when the phone is connected by USB to my computer and charging, if I open the camera the battery % starts to drop like 1% every 4-5 seconds!!
So the battery is being drained faster than what it charges.
I close the camera and it starts charging again.
Huawei, I was very happy with this phone, now I'm constantly in fear of getting out of battery in the middle of an unknown city while taking photos!
Had anyone else noticed a Pixel 4 XL battery that's generally fine until it hits about 30% and then plummets to zero within minutes? Seems to be happening all the time at the moment. Any suggestions on how to solve this?

From personal experience with Google and battery issues, I'll tell you this...
Do a factory reset or better yet flash the next monthly update using the factory image with the -w still in the script to force the full wipe. If this does not fix the problem then your due a warranty claim in my opinion. They will tell you to do all this as part of the troubleshooting anyway and you'll probably have to go through the motions regardless but it'll at least give you a better idea where you stand before jumping through their hoops!

This is good advice. If a factory reset doesn't help, I'd see about a warranty claim as well. The Pixel 4XL is a good phone but while the battery life isn't one of it's strong suits, I've never seen anything like you describe. They are pretty good about replacing a bad phone after the usual troubleshooting. It's a pain but worth the trouble.
This looks exactly like what was happening on the Nexus 6P phones. This is the first case that I've seen on the pixel like though. It was so widespread on the Nexus 6P line that there is a class action suit still going on. I had three of those phones with this issue. As CyperpodS2 said a factory reset should be your first option. I doubt it will help if it is a hardware problem but Google will require you to do that before the will RMA your phone anyway.
Thanks guys. Tried a factory reset but it has just done exactly the same thing as before. Gets to about 30-29% and then drops within a matter of seconds to zero and turns off. I'll phone my carrier today to see how they respond to this. I'll let you know how I get on.
Oh and here is the battery history.
Good luck. You shouldn't have any trouble getting a replacement.
Crap! Me too! Everything was fine and then all of a sudden battery is dead. I also have issues charging to 100% using my wireless charger but maybe it's the charger. The sudden death at 30% battery just started happening. I did install the latest February update and don't remember it doing this before then. Up until now I've been really happy with battery life.
I've been hitting 30% and lower recently due to changing when I charge the phone. I have not seen a sudden drop once I reach 30% and I have battery saver turn on automatically at 25% and can get hours out of that. To be honest, since I deleted facebook account my phones have always had better battery live than friends with the same device. It was the first thing I noticed about removing FB/Messenger, I went to a single charge for 1.5 days.
Just to update. Google did replace my Pixel XL without any issues. I didn't get any feedback on the phone I sent, but I assume the fact that they haven't charged me anything suggests that they did find a problem. Hope you get your issue sorted out @SnrSuave and that these are isolated problems.
I've been doing some testing and trying to recalibrate the battery. Seems to be better now. I let the battery run down completely empty and then fully charge while turned off. Last night I got the battery down to 10% without it dropping fast.
My experience last days
Once it didn't load over 15% (display bug)
All is fine after complete empty device
Good to hear others are solving their issues. I had run my battery down and charged fully a few times, but didn't improve things for me. Hopefully just one of those random issues that happen from time to time. replaced device running well. :good:
I had the same **** with my 3xl.
In the end i RMA it.....
So my phone is overheating when I plug it in the charger, when I play bleach immortal souls, when I multitask with a pop-up window Two dots and YouTube together and my battery life only gets max 3 hours SOT.
I am opting to get the oneplus 8T once it comes out next month but I'm not sure what to do with my note 9 in the meanwhile. No matter if it's the stock ROM or the 4 custom ROMs out there, it all has the same problems but the one thing that's confusing me is that accubattery says my battery health is 87%.... Anyone else encounter a problem like this?
Sorry for what might be a dumb question but have you factory data reset you phone? I did a few months back and felt like a new phone again.

yeah I did a factory reset, I formatted the whole phone using stock recovery aswell and that didn't seem to fix the problem. i recently flashed superstable rom and the phone is blazing fast but still I can get no fast charging, battery life is really bad even after doing a battery calibration like for instance last night my phone was at 100% and I didn't put it in the charger and 7 hours later i found my phone at 58% and i ca share screenshots that shows it didn't have any phone use.....
the thing is this is probably a battery gone bad problem but I don't want to open the phone to lose "water proofing"
I got the phone...its exynos 6gb unlocked....brand new
Have 2 major issues basically one with 2 thing
1. Media server - battery drain
Have samsung clear and clean formatted sd inserted bot a single file on it....the media thingy stays on in backround....its a system app so cant be disabled.... i have only disabled the data backround but it does nothing...drain stays there
2. Camera light sensor - battery drain
Both of theese are driving my battery down..need to charge midd day...just standby is is around 10%...
I just got the phone....updated 3 times to newest firmware and done factory resset..
I dont inderstand this..honestly....
Can someone help me please
Ps: i am stock not rooted or anything as i said just got the phone recently brand new...
take the phone back and get a refund citing all the issues you have if possible.
the phone is so bad with that SoC that Samsung have just discontinued it in that form!!
that must tell you there's not much that can be done. get over any attachment you may have holding it in your hands and think 6 months ahead. do you want to be kicking yourself for still having that POS or sitting pretty glad you swapped it out for something that wasn't a disaster ?
Hi guys,
I have the S20 FE 5G (SD865 version) with official firmare. 781BXXU4DUL9
After the recenet update to Android 12, I noticed that 'super fast' charging is really slow. sometimes it is even slower then regular 'fast' charging.
I use the same charger as before the update, when I connect the charger it says 'super fast charging' but the charging time is unusually slow, from 50% to 100% is about ~1Hr. it used to be much less ~30 minutes or so. when I connect the regular fast charger it sometimes show the same amount of time or sometimes even less.
I tried wiping system cache but it did not solve the issue.
Any help would be appreciated.
small update,
even after the latest update to UI 4.1 the battery drain and charging issues still exist. I really don't get why Samsung don't fix their bugs, even after so many costumers are reporting this on the Samsung forums.
Power phone down completely, see if it fast charges.
After a major firmware upgrade you should do a factory reset. 12 is a mess, but at least give a fair chance... or not and roll back to 11.
Rule #1- if a OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission, let it be.
Never update guys. They pushing you to swap to s22 or any new phone...
Wanted to update it is still very bad after Android 13
charging issue had been fixed, but battery life is still terrible.
I get typically ~4.5 SOT see below
Android 13, S20 FE 5G snapdragon
tried wiping cache and optimizing apps.
still did not try to do factory reset, not sure if it will help much
Just to update, I did full factory reset and installed everything fresh.
I see very minor improvement ~5-6 hrs SOT, still not amazing in any way.
Have you tried cleaning the charging port? It gets clogged with cloth fiber and dust usually. Without good connection, the phone cannot charge well enough.
