Question Widevine L1 on custom ROMs - Redmi Note 10 Pro

I am very confused right now. Does your phone loose widevine L1 support when bootloader is unlocked. Do custom ROMs support Widevine L1. This is going to influence my purchase decision
Any help is appreciated

With the bootloader unlocked, I always have L1 support in all custom ROMs I have tried.
Cheers!

Rooting the Note 8

I'm sure if I dig into the forums I will be able to find the answers I'm looking for buuut, I have a Exynox Note 8 SM-N950F, is there a way to root it with safety net not tripped and Knox not tripped?
I couldn't really care for Knox, but it gets rid of s-health and that's what I want
Thank You ??
I'd like to know which note 8 version to buy if I wish to root, rom, and unlock bootloader. Free bump OP cause I think we can both help each other get our answers.
There is no way to root without tripping Knox, but there is a patch to bring s health back after rooting

Exynos is best for all that, since bootloader is unlocked and roms are being developed. Lots of reading still for you...particularly the OEM unlock thread .
Until today there's no way of rooting without tripping the Knox

No patch to bring back Samsung Pay after tripping Knox as far as I know.
Yes if you want custom roms then Exynos is the best bet because of the unlocked bootloader. There are some exceptions with Snapdragon that also have unlocked bootloader, but most don't so they don't have as much development attention as Exynos. Unfortunately some Exynos have OEM Unlock issues which throw a bit of a wrench into things for some. Check out the OEM Unlock thread for details on that.

What a nightmare. I just read it. Typical Samsung fashion.
Sounds like SM-N950N is the only safe version where unlocked bootloader sticks and not thrown back in jail.

Harsh reality of Vivo z1 pro development!

Surely a lot of guys including me are waiting for Vivo z1 pro development to kick off, but the harsh truth is that currently the future of Vivo z1 pro's android development looks bleak.
Why? you ask.
Because right now Vivo does not support bootloader Unlocking. NO. NIET. NEE. NAHI.
Now, when realme devices were new they were the same, no bootloader unlock support, but there was a demand for it and after sometime they allowed unlocking bootloader.
But surprisingly, I haven't seen a single demand for bootloader Unlocking of Vivo z1 pro neither from the users nor the YouTubers or bloggers.
Check xda for other vivo phones, they all have little or no development, all because of a locked bootloader from vivo.
So guys we need to make some noise to get bootloader unlock support for z1 pro,if we want development for z1 pro.
:good:

But, bombarding tech YouTubers and bloggers with comments related to this and asking them to make some noise may help and might be a good place to start.

Widevine L1 after unlocking bootloader

Can someone confirm widevine status after bootloader unlocking and does it revert back to L1 after relocking ?

2nd - Nope, you cant retain L1 on an unlocked bootloader
There should be a way to retain L1

Do not lock the bootloader if you flashed a custom ROM on the k20/k20 pro.
It will brick the phone.

Did not know that. Thanks. So the app developer is responsible for enabling HD playback in the device and not the manufacturer?

That's the thing, you just unlocked your bootloader, try to change your rom, and it will make the certification to L3, just unlocking bootloader didn't harm wildwine certification

Guys.. did anyone try 'DRM L1' magisk module to bring L1 back ? Please let me know, I couldn't test it right now, as i relocked bootloader and in waiting period to unlock again.

Question about Widevine and root on the latest update.

I ordered my X2 Pro off the Realme EU website only yesterday afternoon, I saw some people having issues with the fingerprint scanner not working after unlocking the bootloader which seems to be patched as of A08. My main question now is if Widevine is still L3 after the bootloader unlock or is it L1?
L3. It's not a bug, it's by design.

I’m plenty aware, but from my understanding you can root whilst retaining L1 on some devices. I was wondering if that is the case here.

Question OnePlus 10 Pro 512gb - Panda White

I have purchased this device from Wonda Mobile.
The customer service person has told me the original phone model is a Chinese NE2210. It will be flashed with NE2213 or NE2215 depending on region (I am from the UK so most likely NE2213?).
I was also told that the bootloader will be locked, payment app will work and the device will continue to receive updates.
My question, are the above true as far as you are aware?
Is it possible to flash a different region and leave the bootloader locked?
If it is possible to have the bootloader locked, I assume payments apps will work then?
Will the device continue to receive OTA updates if changed from NE2210 to NE2213 or NE2215?
Any possible issues I should be aware of?
I purchased the same device, originally NE2210, it was unpacked and flashed to NE2215 by the seller. The bootloader is locked, updates work normally, everything works great...
Thanks dzontra83. I used to be good at these things in the the golden days of modding our OnePlus phones and installing custom ROMS.
I read somewhere that you had to unlock your bootloader to change from NE2210 to NE2213 or NE2215. This is why I was a bit confused as to how the bootloader will come locked.
Feeling a bit more reassured that you have the same device with OxygenOS flashed.
Can I ask what region you are from as you have NE2215. I am led to believe NE2213 is for Europe?

My advice would be to get the NE2213 and avoid the chinese variants.
Sooner or later you'll hit a snag..
More to the point, I wouldn't buy this phone if I knew then what I know now.

Thanks, exactly what problems did you experience that has put you off? I am getting it as it is under £700 for a 12gb/512gb.

I have not and would not buy a device out of region.. Reason being is because there are quite a few things that could go wrong..
Main one is warranty, and for what? So you can save a few pennies, that's a penny wise and pound foolish decision.
What will happen when OnePlus "fix" your device if it goes wrong? You'll end up back on the Chinese firmware.
Are the basebands the same? Will it work when 13 is released? Is preformance the same?
Each to their own, but i just wouldn't risk saving a small amount of money for the potential problems they may arise.
Look at the threads created by poor souls who attempted to save money.

It is L1, i havent tried Netflix yet, but most certanly it is, since it is L1.
I'm considering doing exactly this. I want a 512GB phone and the only option is the CN white panda. Can't do it otherwise. Was hoping for the 10T to offer 512GB but it ended up not (also is a downgrade in many areas)

Received delivery, transferring everything (apps + data) over from the current phone.
It was flashed to NE2215, not sure if this is correct for UK.
Hopefully it will receive OTA update. It came with Feb 22 security patch. It is updating to Jun 22 security patch.
Phone looks great though.

Probably would have preferred NE2213. Not sure how the seller flashed it or if there is any downsides to NE2215
