Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G (SM-G781B/DS) - eSIM - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

Hey, i bought this phone because of "eSIM support" which normally this phone could have and a lot of websites say it have eSIM support. Normally Snapdragon 865 is compatible with eSIM but Samsung doesn't released update to enable it.
I found some clues that with Note 20 Ultra was possible to active eSIM without Samsung update (at the end they got eSIM update) link here.
I have root at my S20 FE 5G so i tried too some mods but it doesn't work at the end.
1. Decoded CSC
2. Changed <CscFeature_RIL_SupportEsim>FALSE</CscFeature_RIL_SupportEsim> to TRUE
3. After reboot got message "Search for your new mobile plan?"

So i don't have any extra option to add QR Code, here is no "menu below" and i don't see any eSIM menu in settings.
Tried to add EuiccService.apk to system/priv-app/EuiccService which was success recognized but didn't help.
Is here anyone who got working eSIM support with this phone?

hmm, maybe if you can find someone with e-sim functionality working (and maybe root) they could run logs before activating the feature. help you run down all the processes, libraries and whatnot involved.

I have S20 5G with eSIM but no root. Logcat works without root so i can get some logs.
I added EsimClient.apk and EuiccService.apk to priv-apps looks like those apps are working but further problem with SimModel.
Someone know which app or something give this log?
"SimModel: [C] esim is not supported"

One step further ;]
SimModel give another things and now can i use QR code...

don't get me wrong, I know nothing at all about android but I'm thinking this kinda sounds like there might be a prop file somewhere too.
esim: false

No :/ I use further 2 x SIM no space for my MicroSD.

S20, S21 series use SN100U (with PN547 NFC contriller) SoC for esim works (I don't know which SoC used on S22 series). I asked 4pda users what NFC chip built in their devices using Device info HW app. Then I got that: 4G used PN547, 5G used sec-nfc driver (both versions based on Snapdragon). And I have 5G versions, And too have sec-nfc. But, through logcat I got messages from s3nsen4 nfc SoC. On Samsung official site writen, that SoC support eSIM, but I don't found firmware for this. And sorry for English, I study it yet

Did one of you manage to get eSIM running?

It was on April's Fool Day from what I can gather! https://www.xda-developers.com/android-13-esim-report/
Such a ludicrous situation Samsung, are you listening?
[EDIT]: Maybe it wasn't a joke after all https://source.android.com/docs/core/connect/esim-mep.
But manufacturers (Samsung) will still need to integrate it / enable it, when 13 is released some time soon... can we hope?

Did anyone get this to work or have any updates?
now that android 13 is out on this phone..

not esim, but flash android 13 and now dual sim is working on t-mobile.

I spoke to a network tech he said it would be available in April. He lied. Sprint purposely disabled the feature to force a new device purchase. If we can hack VOLTE on oreo and not pie its very revealing about their designs
---------- Post added at 07:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:16 PM ----------
While we're at it where is the Download Booster?
That's strange
On my Samsung galaxy so note I haven't been able to receive any data to surf the internet or send sms if I am on the call yet it says I have volte enabled??? So why won't it work??? The frustration with Samsung is real......... And sprint...... It says enabled volte provision whatever that means.
i have a unlocked sprint Note 9 & after pie update there is no VoLTE now. (I am trying to use it on JIO network in India).
Is there a way to Install Other Global ROM instead of Sprint ROM so that VoLTE can naturally be activated & not hidden or disabled ?

no. that is the folly of the North America devices.
Force it by using shortcut master and searching "enhancedLTE" and run it then enable that. Works on oreo. Not sure about pie

Flashing International Firmware on North American variant

All Galaxy Z Fold 2's have the Snapdragon chipset. So I was wondering if we can flash global firmware (F916B) on a North American (F916U) phone. Can anyone test it out? If we can do that, then we should be able to root the North American variant.
I've asked a few people about this and I've gotten mixed responses. So I was wondering if anyone can test it out. I haven't received my Z Fold 2 yet so I can't test.

Not possible right now, odin regardless of hardware will not allow cross flashing of different model numbers. It will fail everytime
I haven't even seen anyone try using the modified odin on the note 20 ultra yet let alone the more expensive fold.
Wasn't this done on the Note 10+ to go between U and U1?

U and U1 were the the same device. Similar to how the carrier variants of the fold can be flashed to unlocked firmware.
I imagine there's something different though that makes it so we can't flash the firmware from the international and vice versa.
Not quite sure but I thought there were really only 2 versions with the only difference being the amount of storage...
The US Unlocked version don't have the eSIM activated... I'm just hoping a software update will activate the eSIM like the EU one's.
This person has a US Unlocked model and was asked which SIM did he want to use but as far as i know, only the East has gotten the Sept update to enable esim

I'm thinking maybe in 2 weeks. Hoping for next week. Google usually pushes security updates the first Monday/Tuesday of the month and at times Samsung has been quicker.

New update pushed. Still no eSIM
To the previous poster who mentioned Samsung told him eSIM would be enabled in the next update, that update was pushed today, and unfortunately, still no eSIM. I feel like this alone makes my $2k phone not worth its price tag...

They've been claiming an update since day 1, still not here. I do believe it's coming though since it's an advertised feature and included in the spec; they pretty much have to cough it up sooner or later.

A "pre-sales" chat with Samsung proves they're advertising this device as eSIM capable, and stating it will be enabled in an update. So it seems we're getting mixed responses (maybe depending on whether or not we've already bought the device?) All I know is that the hardware supports it and their representatives say it is supported and will be enabled, even if that's only to make a sale...

Question S21 Ultra locked? Unlocked? I'm not too sure! Help please.

Hey guys, first of, I want to thank you for reading the post.
So I've recently bought a new S21 Ultra from Korea, on the seller's page it was stated that it's unlocked. The issue I had when I received the phone is that it starts up with the carriers (SKT(Korea Telecomm)) splash screen, and what this means is that when I entered in. I was forced to install all of SKT apps. And I can't disable them or anything. And when I put in my local sim card to test it, I could call people and it was technically working fine. But when I was using mobile data. It only activates 3G/LTE, although my sim is 4G+ and I've been using it with my all phone all the time. I've also come to noticed that there is a SKT connection thing in my setting, and I noticed that my local sim card is actually classified as a overseas sim card. So it's as if the phone is thinking I'm mobile data roaming all the time. I need help with this, is there anyway to get rid of it? I've got a screen shot to explain what's happening.

I think so as well. Man....
No.. what are you talking bout? You didn’t buy it from Samsung? you’re phone is unlocked! How else are you able to make calls?? You would have no service and your phone would give a SIM card error if it was locked. You need to change your APN settings according to your carriers. Thats it you’ll have full speed internet after you change your APN settings, to your US carriers APN, it’s currently on the Korean carriers that’s why it’s showing as overseas. Google APN settings for your carrier.
Your splash screen will always show the Korean carrier cuz it’s their device originally, if you want to change it you have to root it first. Dudes splash says Samsung cuz his is factory unlocked, it never was locked to any carrier. He bought it from Samsung directly which is why there’s no carrier stuff anywhere.
Yo OP if someone says something weird you don’t have to agree with them, you should ask them to clarify instead, that way you can correct them if they’re wrong which in this case you missed, they pointed you in the wrong direction, which certainly didn’t help you. To an outsider like myself you both seem crazy, obviously y’all have no idea what y’all talkin bout and I know it didn’t get resolved cuz the only way is my solution.
Do you reside in Korea, if not why aquire the Korean variant? If you add up all the different S21 Models then factor in all the different Service Provider's it's over one-hundred different variants. That's pretty much on Samsung, no other device manufacturer has anywhere near this many variants, it's absolutely absurd! Anytime you install firmware that doesn't match your device’s Primary CSC you should expect conflicts. If there's any comfort in the fact that thousands if not millions of users are in the same boat as you. If you need full Call Feature Compatibility it's always best to aquire your Service Provider's device. A bit of research goes a long ways when it comes to Samsung's numerous offerings.
You have to change the APN to which ever carriers APN you are using... that simple.
If you don't know how to do so. Let me know

Question Stuck on 11/22 security patch?

This may already be well known, but if you have Google Fi or T-Mobile (MetroPCS, Mint, etc.} or any other MVNO of T-Mobile, you'll be stuck on November 2022 security patch: apparently Dec & Jan update screws up Google Fi and T-Mobile ESIM capabilities, and so they pulled the update. I use Mint mobile, so I searched around and found out all I had to do was slap in a non-Google Fi or T-Mobile SIM card (I used an old inactive Verizon SIM), and immediately when checking for an update after doing so I got the Dec/22, then Jan/23 updates. I don't use an ESIM, so it won't affect me. If you use an ESIM, do a little research before you try it because I don't know how it affects it.

Nice trickery!
I'm a little confused about the general problem. Is the Pixel 7 delay about the same problem affecting Pixel 5 when switching between 4G and 5G? FWIW, instead of OTA push updates I just flash the latest firmware and with January's update I have no 4G/5G switching problems using a Mint SIM card.

It's affecting other Pixel models yes, and from what a read it has to do with ESIM compatibility with Google FI & T-Mobile and so they're holding back the update (the carriers are). I use an actual SIM and just wanted the update. I shut off 5G for better battery, just don't need it. I would've just flashed the update because it's slow OTA (or is it just the phone?), but I haven't bothered to find out how to do it. The 2 updates I got (Jan & Dec) took like 45 min each.

Question Motorola x40 touch sample rate

I have a Motorola X40 and my biggest gripe with it is they downgraded the touch sampling rate on the X30 Pro/Edge 30 Ultra from 360hz to 240hz. The game mode allows the touch rate to be boosted to about 375hz on the X40 but I was looking to see if there was a way to keep it there all the time through adb or something without having to enable game mode on all my apps. Any ideas or help would be great;

Hey Daniel, thanks for the reply, and I live in the US. I bought the phone for a pretty good deal from a guy that couldn't deal with 5g not working. I live in a rural area so 5g doesn't work better then lte anyway, so I don't care. Other things that I have seen not work with the phone is "hey Google" and Google location history, so I may flash the global ROM eventually. Also I know I can add apps to the game mode, I was just wondering if I could apply the higher touch sampling mode system-wide and have it stay on. It looks like some other Motorola phones had a setting to increase touch sensitivity, so I wasn't sure if maybe it was present somehow or if anyone knows a way to enable this. Thanks.

I use a MVNO called Red Pocket Mobile that uses gsma bands (which are operated and owned by ATT). I can't imagine anyone got this phone to work with ATT directly as they verify the IMEI to make sure it's a device they whitelist for use on their network. Even my old Poco F3 and OnePlus 7 Pro were not allowed to be used directly with Cricket Wireless which is owned by ATT. I had received a text about an hour after inserting my sim that "the network could not be verified", and they would not work at all. The phone market in this country is awful which is why I like to do everything I can to escape the Samsung or Apple duopoly.
