General MIUImix custom Rom - Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Hello everyone, just to mention the custom ROM MIUImix is also available for our Mi 11 Ultra (and Pro). Unfortunately I haven't find any stable version,only weekly. For those who don't know what MIUImix is, from the developers website:

As I said I couldn't find the latest stable for Mi 11 Ultra but if you know where please feel free to post it for everyone.
Personally speaking I am really curious to try it out as it has Magisk and YouTube Vanced included, plus a lot of debloat, plus it seems quite optimised, all by keeping the latest China Rom features.

You can find the files on Sourceforge, indeed no stable for Mi11U for now.
MIUIMix is a ROM that is based on Xiaomi.Eu, indeed prerooted and with some further fine-tuning - very nice....

Did anyone had the chance to use and compare them both?

I have used both, honestly speaking they feel and look pretty much the same - most changes are rather "under the hood".
Miuimix is a bit more debloated and fine tuned, one list of changes can be found e.g
here - suits my need very nicely, but whether those changes including rooting are your cup of tea, well that's pretty individual in the end

How are apps start compared to stock experience? On Xiaomi EU is quite slow

Been running this for the last few days. Can't really notice a difference really. Seems a bit more debloated.

You can't Spot a difference between this and the stock or compared to Xiaomi EU?
May I please ask if you could run an adb command "pm list packages" to see what packages are installed on this MIUImix ROM?

Droid4 ROM Reviews - crDroid

I've tried out several of the ROMs available for the Droid 4 and I was already taking notes on each of them, so thought I'd share a review on each here. I already posted my thoughts on LineageOS 14.1 in a previous thread so we'll skip straight to crDroid.
crDroid 3.8.5 is the latest addition to the D4 scene. It runs Android 7.1.2 and is based on LineageOS 14.1, apparently branched from the spyder builds. Its advantages include support for JJB's overclock kernels, in fact WiFi doesn't work without it; support for use of the altpart Safestrap to repurpose the webtop partition and give you the largest 1.3GB /system partition in your stock slot; built-in signature spoofing for MicroG/Xposed support; the most recent (Jan/2018) Android security patch level; integrated custom fonts; Ad Away browser integration; great battery life; and its own cool settings section with lots of other custom features. Like all Android V5+ versions this supports hand-wave notifications on the lock screen.
Its disadvantages are that it's fairly thick due to being on 7.1.2, and unless you're running MicroG or a very tiny Gapps package (Slim Zero or OpenG pico), it can be slow, though not nearly as bad as LineageOS 14.1 on which it's based. Videos are jerky and audio stutters. It's really intended to be used with MicroG. And despite being around only six months, it is no longer officially supported by the crDroid team, so no further updates at this time. A major factor for users of Google Voice is that it displays the routing phone number of your call rather than your actual destination phone number during the call, which can be confusing at worst and annoying at best. The call log still shows the correct destination phone number though. I'm not sure where the bug for this lives but it is specific to the ROM. Most annoyingly, the swipe-to-unlock is quirky - you have to swipe fully from bottom to top, and fairly quickly. It usually takes a couple attempts before the phone unlocks, making it difficult if not impossible to do with one hand.
Verdict: Best of the AOSP V7 ROMs for D4. But V7 isn't necessarily the best choice for D4 because of its high RAM usage. Unless there's a reason you absolutely need to run V7, i.e. for an app, you're better off with an older release that uses less RAM.
Thanks for you review. It is awesome to see that there still is active members hanging around. In my mind Lollipop was a bit laggy on Droid 4 compared to KitKat roms but Marshmallow and specially Nougat roms have improved the situation. I can consider Nougat as a daily driver for Droid 4 in 2018. I just hope that we could still see Android Oreo Go edition on our device.

Noobs: ROMs - which one is which? Global, Chinese, EEA

I'm new to this so I thought I'd put this thread together for other noobs. It explains in basic terms which rom is which, where to get it and what you can flash with your device locked or unlocked.
If I've got anything wrong, please let me know.
Unlocking Your Mi9
Don't forget to backup first!
There are plenty of threads on this, but I found a couple of gotchas. I went to the unlocking site https://en.miui.com/unlock/ and clicked the button, it took me to the Chinese language site. There was an option to choose US English, but that just gave an internal server error. After a day or so, this was working fine.
Secondly, once I had downloaded the PC based unlocking software and logged in I got an error message:
Can't unlock. Your account isn't associated with a phone number
After a bit of surfing I learned that I had to log into my Xiaomi account in a web browser and add my phone number as a backup number. Then it asked me to turn off wifi, enable mobile data, then it send me a code which I then entered into the site.
After all this it's now working, the countdown is going down and I hope to unlock my bootloader on Wednesday. Tick Tock...
Install ROMs before unlocking
If your device is not unlocked yet, you can only install official roms from here:

There are instructions on how to do this on the web site. There is no need to backup when installing official ROMs. But you might like to anyway
There was one piece of information missing that threw me for a short while; The instructions on the web site tell you to click on the 3 dots and choose:
Choose Update Package.
This option was missing on my phone even after downloading the ROM to the phone. The fix is to go to Settings->System Update and Click the 10 logo 10 times. Fooled me lol.
Global or EEA?
If your phone is European you can't install the Global ROM. If you look at the top of the page there is a Global or EAA link. You can tell which you have by going into:
Settings->About Phone->MIUI Version.
Mine is EAA and the version is 10.2.15.0(PFAEUXM). The current Global one is V10.2.3.0.PFAMIXM. A bit of surfing shows CN=China
So EU = EAA, Global = MI and CN-China. So your box says Global but your settings say EAA? Mine too! A bit weird, but I think the EAA version supports WideVine for digital rights management for netflix etc.
Install ROMs after unlocking
You can find weekly build ROMs here:

I am told these ROMs are based on the Chinese version, but I'm not sure of the implications there. Maybe someone could inform me?
Now that you're unlocked, you can (backup your current rom) and flash these images with TWRP. The instructions are further down the page and are quite comprehensive.
Don't relock your bootloader! I understand this will brick your phone!

It's nice to know I can use official ROMs while I wait for the bootloader to unlock, especially since i bought the CN model. I'll get to that now...
Custom ROMs are based off of the Chinese version because its the most feature-full version. Thebonly reason I don't want to use the official CN rom is because you never know what deals-requirements Xiaomi has with their government on collecting and sending back your data.

No probs and thanks for the extra description of China roms. Mind you, just about every stock app on my EU phone has a privacy policy as long as your arm, including video player and even calculator. If you read this, Xiaomi get access to pretty much everything.
I don't want to debloat yet, as I mentioned I'm waiting for an unlock and I worry that debloating might affect the unlocking as they need to harvest enough personal data from me!
I'll update as I go along. Can't wait to install the China rom now you've told me it has more features.
BTW as far as privacy goes, I like to install No Root Firewall here:

I like it because it blocks everything until you explicitly allow it. You can install apps with ads and they won't get through the firewall. The only slight issue is it doesn't seem to autostart on boot so you need to re-start it each time.

Maybe the only reason its CN rom is for the weekly builds. Global and EU don't get features as early? I think the rest of that list is custom things they've added then...

Well no I'm getting even more excited. Probably should get out more.
It's what I had heard about the CN ROMs. Regular updates and the EEA version will update at some point in the future.
It doesn't really matter what you know or don't know - when you learn it you know it lol. I remember going on training courses and asking stupid questions. In the tea break people would tell me they didn't understand either, but were scared to ask.

I'm a bit worried by what you say with TWRP being a one time flash only as it can't write to data.
Does this mean that if I install the xiaomi.eu ROM today, that's it no further flashes in the future?!
Also there's a warning on the xiaomi.eu download page that magisk may cause lag and fingerpring issues, has anyone experienced this?

I have a global model with the EU rom, can i use the dev rom or the xiaomi.eu rom? I've read that that european models can't use global rom, will these work?

cheers. So i reached a fantastic configuration on what i believe is the best ROM for Mi9: Foloko. Very frequent updates now as the dev, cough cough, simply owns the physical device. Software wise it is fantastic, the tweaks are great, the tap-to-wake works, the AOD screen works in a smart way (like only notifications or only music if you wish), lot of useful actions work on deep doze screen like music control with volume buttons, and legendary Xposed Edge controls the AI button in that mode. Got 9 actions defined. So this disadvantage to 6T doze gestures is gone although the gestures are cooler. Bluetooth [car] works. The mesmerizing swipe-to-apps a.k.a. QuickStep works with the included launcher or even Hyperion (which you can enable with QuickStep magisk plugin). Navigation of apps is fantastic with the Pie button (and tweakable as hell; Xiaomi: impossible). So many Quick setting icons (i counted 40? whaat). Screenshot region works (Xiaomi: disabled even via Xposed). App notifications work great with extra blinking features, vanilla style (Xiaomi suppresses them by default!). Not missing anything from Xiaomi ROM and getting much more. Lot of free memory as the bloatware is gone. Traditional stuff like DataSaver, memory and battery control (Xiaomi: disfunctional kill-all memory guard). Only stuff that you want runs in the memory and you can open running processes from the notification bar (in Xiaomi: censored). There's even some OTA. Camera works. Charging is super fast and you see the volt and ampers on the lockscreen. You can throw away google backdoor SmartLock as you have The Profiles. Nigh mode (however not readable like on all ROMs/devices).
However it comes with this disadvantage at the moment:
- installation can be insane (miflashing stock ROM tgz is required, gapps will fail most of the time, custom kernel will be a problem etc - wasted many hours on this)
- fingerprint generally works but it's hard to see it and very often i have to press it twice, no facelock..... i think not a dealbreaker, not a reason to stick to xiaomi ROMs
- battery consumption is terrible (5%/hr in deep doze(!) standby - even in full wifi standby 100%->0% test!!!), and i believe it is because of Magisk as i didn't identify anything in the 3C monitor except rather high CPU frequencies and and disabling monitoring and gms had no effect ---> i'm exhausted but i will still work on this. Only when this is solved, will give away my lovely 6T just in: setting passive governor -> frequencies much lower, battery impact none.
no doubt the most difficult flashing experience in a decade.. imagine 2 weeks waiting for unlock, learn to hack the extra 3 days waittime award, 2 weeks trying to fight xiaomi ROMs, read their childish forums to gain knowledge, analyze the flashing process, the firmware packages, the flashing issue in every step possible, learn to modify the scripts in flash packages (wtf), learn about error 1, error 7, error 64, error... failed gapps packages, then spend tons of hours trying to make AOSP run.. who wants to go through this hell if you have a high privacy standard (need Xposed XPrivacy)?:silly: while the experience with 6T was: type oem unlock, flash magisk, xposed, one config session, done. No problem since. It just works. You don't need a custom ROM at all. Zero troubleshooting. zero problems. Fantastic battery 4 passive days. Wow. QC and Qi addiction is the reason i fight with xiaomi. Will update on battery, the very last issue.

no doubt the most difficult flashing experience in a decade.. imagine 2 weeks waiting for unlock, learn to hack the extra 3 days waittime award, 2 weeks trying to fight xiaomi ROMs, read their childish forums to gain knowledge, analyze the flashing process, the firmware packages, the flashing issue in every step possible, learn to modify the scripts in flash packages (wtf), learn about error 1, error 7, error 64, error... failed gapps packages, then spend tons of hours trying to make AOSP run.. who wants to go through this hell if you have a high privacy standard (need Xposed XPrivacy)?:silly: while the experience with 6T was: type oem unlock, flash magisk, xposed, one config session, done. No problem since. It just works. You don't need a custom ROM at all. Zero troubleshooting. zero problems. Fantastic battery 4 passive days. Wow. QC and Qi addiction is the reason i fight with xiaomi. Will update on battery, the very last issue.

Very interesting to read! I'm curious of gsi roms however so far I'd miss stock camera and this battery life is also making me hesitant.
I'm currently trying out RevolutionOS which is proving to be a very nice rom.
I did try Floko and experienced the same issue with gapps, took a while to work but managed it eventually. When booted I couldn't change the contrast/colours and all the whites seemed dull, presumably that isn't fixed yet (?!) and so for that and other reasons I decided to flash back to miui. I really don't mind it, after soong lots of tweaks and debloating etc.
But indeed, I must say I am almost tempted by the OnePlus 7 Pro whenever that comes out..... But we'll see!
What happened? Got 1% drop in 3hours. Did the phone "settle"? Did Xiaomi disconnect? i'm leaving it alone for 1hr blocks all day, this time i let it longer..
3C: 0.33% per hour.. is the phone dead? all seems working, network was active, data was there, google connected, VPN uninterrupted and resident programs too (no cleanup, actually tons of stuff and xposed*).
GSam: estimates 132hr (5.5days) standby per full charge, by math it is 12.6day per this sick value (lowest ever measure in non-airplane mode) funny but that's how i measured 6T,Note9,V30.. sitting at the exact spot and waiting..6T gave me 7days theoretical number and 4 real passive days afterwards* and come home with 75%, wake up next morning with 65% in active days)
Let's quickly write the conditions:
- 3g and home wifi (yes the wifi is a battery saver, and home wifi is the best... you know... proximity)
- ROM: flokoRom 21-04-2019
- kernel: stock (default)
- flashing sequence: dtbo, vendor, persist, boot, system, resize system partition, reboot to recovery, mindthegapps64, wipe caches, magisk19.0, two reboots
- governor: schedulutil (default), others (default), f-sync on (default)
- kernel wakelocks blocked: none (default), system wakelocks blocked: none (default), system alarms blocked: none (default)
- wakelocks detected: c8c000.qcom,hal_bluetooth_lock,PowerManagerService.WakeLocks,qcom_rx_wakelock (no smp2p-sleepstate there surprisingly)
- naptime: ON (=deep doze was active, however it didn't mean anything in previous tests)
- servicely: ON, force app standby: OFF (this would block notifications)
- surface settings: crDroid pocket detection and other 2 phh doze features: OFF
- Magisk 19.1 with useless GMS hack and 3C OFF, Magisk Hide OFF (as i don't want to hide my root, not using payments, and only GMS doze used this); GSI patch v3, Quickstep, edXposed, Xyoutube ON
- Exposed with Edge, XCall, XPrivacy ON; 3C OFF (only nonsys app running and monitoring only battery)
*Note: measuring Standby. More important than SOT if you want to have working phone at evening. Measuring wifi standby with no interaction is to check max potential of the phone with all background setup running (200 apps, 3 chats, 3 mails, disk encryption, network encryption, location sharing, location history, xposed - maxed out setup). Exact same process on each phone. Standby home wifi > Standby wifi > Standby 3g by huge margins. Results when moving with phone will vary drastically. My goal is humble: 1.5day of mixed use.
This type of performance continued later. Followed by permaactive browsing session 8.5%/hr (max 12hr SOT). During the active day (3g / office wifi) ended up also with ~75% (GSam: 84hr standby left). So this is great. I keep the phone and give away 6T. Finally. Achieved (consider the huge time waste however):
- no sign of Xiaomi thrashware existence
- optimal Pie experience with no feature or setting missing, QuickStep(R) and Pie navbar
- sexier lighter thinner phone with less memory but newer processors (fastest on market)
- my favorite feature Qi a QC on all charging levels existing (fastest on market), compatible with all existing standard chargers, optioanlly 3 gram magnet system to Qi-charge & hold in the car ("Floveme" on AliEx)
- great battery life
- less problems after setup than with rooted Samsung, bit more than with OnePlus (fingerprint not great, but this will improve by time i guess)
SD card sucks, but USB-C flash in the wallet works well with the chinese TWRP. OnePlus 7 is out of consideration thanks to Qc/Qi. Not sure if I want to wait for unlock next time, i'd prefer to buy 2nd hand unlocked Xiaomi phone if any ("outsource" the waiting). Let's see if OnePlus will be stubborn next year..

I just noticed the AOSP Pie AOD notifications are actionable, there are normal buttons on AOD like mark as read or reply. That's best solution seen yet, you can do some little interaction with Samsung AOD but to set message read or navigate form AOD? And LED blinks on any apps you wish, in any style you set. That is cool. Hard to miss notification with vibration, sound, AOD and LED? AOSP FlokoRom, updates bi-weekly... RR is updated bi-monthly... so much for subject "ROMs - which one is which"...

Rom without or with minimal amount of bugs... recommendations for developer / users

can any of you recommend the Rom to be fully functional and without any major bugs? Which of the basic normal functions must work and most do not work:
- enabling / disabling locations from the drop-down upper bar
- the ability to remove the search bar from the bottom of the background of the main screen and the date and time from its upper part (unnecessarily blocks the space, from this are the widgets)
- adaptation to fast charging, with a minimum current of 2000 mAh
- small date and watch with seconds on the upper beam
- list of connections as in older versions of android with a specific date and time, not in the type "3 days ago"
- dark background in the call list and sms messages
- software flashlight
- 8 shortcuts in one line (upper pull-down bar)
- main screen number of columns 8, number of lines 9
- working encryption
- average memory consumption max 1.5 GB
- security update status> March 2020
- advanced restart
- gallery with menu offering after the first click, e.g. image rotation, etc.

How about you build your own ROM ? No offence. I've been thinking the same I too need the exact features you ask for. But I do not have any coding knowledge to build a rom. Tho I'm willing to learn but I don't find anything that would teach me lol. (searching YouTube too build a rom would be futile since some videos are either old that it's not the current format and or if it is the current format they talk as if we already have knowledge of what they're talking about). But otherwise lineage with nothing in it would make good empty cup to fill tea or coffee of your wish to fill in. But I know it's p.i.a to have additional softwares like magisk or apps, thus comes ROMs of other better developers but with one noticeable flaw that the ROMs are not customised to your liking. So the only option left for you is to build your own ROM. I guess lineage allows you to customise and share your ROM however you like it.
Lineage hasn't been updated in 7 days(usually within 5 days you'd have gotten an update) .. I think the official version is gonna jump from 16.0 to 17.1. if it did I hope the features you asked for would be there. Obviously except the gapps one.

I also thought to build my ROM, I have energy for it, but no time at the moment. I did not check how to build instructions ... if you do not need to be able to program it sure and it would do the trick.
In addition, Remi 4x is a bit old equipment, but still without a successor in these dimensions and with such a battery. So he'll probably live some more. I do not know to what extent the knowledge and rom prepared for a given phone can be used to transfer everything to a possible new phone model.
In my opinion, LineageOs is unnecessarily updated every day ... it's a waste of time - because no one updates the phone so often! Unless there are some patches from your phone by checking for updates (partial additions, like in Windows) that I don't know about?
Downloading 600 MB of data each time is also an unnecessary load on connections.
In fact LoS 17.1 may be showing up at any moment, but I am convinced that not much will change. Do not understand and understand that the community and developers completely ignore bug reports! I also do not understand the logs, since the applications are based on freshly installed software and ordinary uncomplicated, perfectly visible faults.
A lot of new ROMs are being created, but if I don't see earlier versions and the creator is little known then I will certainly not install such software. Unfortunately, I value privacy.
All in all, I prefer a ROM with minimal additions, embellishments, etc. but with lots of settings. The Rom remix was such, but from June 2019 it is not updated.
In addition, I see a lot of duplicate settings not needed from several places on the system. Elementary deficiencies in the ergonomics of use. I have the impression that Android was built for the first time and in addition they were students ... and yet it already has several editions. How much time has passed and how much discussion was about dual-sim, and yet it was a standard that was obvious.
Developers are developers, but certainly Google itself is extremely mixed in all this. Probably, if not for the huge number of devices and even more subcontractors, something could be created that would be fully open to the benefit of all users, such as Firefox, Openstreetmaps or Linux Manjaro.

Carrier: T-Mobile
Rom: Xiaomi.eu (12.5.4 Stable version)
So last year when I was unable to purchase a Samsung 21 ultra I decided to look at other devices and purchased the Xiaomi with the understanding that it was a good device and the .eu version ROM is relatively good. After having the device with this ROM on it for several months I find it overall lacking and wanting to switch to something else or just load the default Xiaomi Global ROM on it.
I've heard of other ROMs like Pixel Experience and LineageOS but when I try to research it I'm finding unreliable resources. Due to this I figured I'd ask a few questions here. After the questions I'll leave a pro cons list of the device and the ROM Version I've been using.
- Does changing ROMs change the bands used from a reception standpoint?
- Does anyone else have my device and used another ROM? If so what do you like about it.
- Does anyone have experience or know reliable sources to research other ROMs for my specific device?
- has anyone that used the .eu ROM switched to back to the original global version and did it change anything regarding battery life or all functionality with recent updates?
Pros:
-fast charging is amazing fully charged from less than 10% in 20 min or less
-best camera I've found on the market with more features than I you'd even think of!
-smooth functionality for native applications
-abundance if settings for security that while can be cumbersome give you a lot of choices about app access and how they interact (with other apps, home automation, etc)
Cons:
-battery life doesn't last more than 4-6 hours with use of light gaming even with settings turned mostly to power save
- .eu Google integration is very clunky and seems to conflict with devices natural system which leads to missed/texts calls, reception issues, delayed or poor integration with other apps like Android auto
- odd bugs happen where mutli screen will randomly turn on or keyboard in text apps (all of them) will randomly disappear and you either need to restart device or go through multi-step process to bring back up
-Too many security settings. While it's nice having higher levels of control it would be ideal to have the ability to set a default security level when downloading applications vs having to do make changes when you download or after the fact

First of all, you are on Xiaomi.EU very old version, SEARIOUSLY OLD, right now it is 12.5.20, which results in a very old review of your device, many things has changed.
I use this device since May, I am using global device with global rom (international version). there are different roms for this device as follows:
-international version RKAMIXM
- INDIAN version RKAINXM
-Indonesian version RKAIDXM
-Europe official version RKAEUXM
-Chinese version RKACNXM
-Euro rom (not official) which is RKACNXM modified
I've done a research on this device bands and there are different outcomes, CN and global are all using same bands. or that international version got different band coverage than CN. you can search online and you'll find same result.

I found EU. rom is so buggy and battery drains really fast, even though i've removed bloatware which did not help. and memory management is pretty messed up. with global version i have late updates but very stable device, smooth, very good battery performance, camera is really nice (i know it is behind CN and Xiaomi.eu versions but still really good). so as of experience, i'd say official roms are best.
A bit of research in this forum and you'll find all possible roms you can install, and methods to install them, issues you might face and how to avoid, and it is really simple. spend a day of reading here and there in XDA and you'll be surprised of what information you can find.
Update your device to latest rom of EU version which you are on, and you'll eliminate a few Cons, and if you jump to global rom, you'll eliminate all of them except camera will fall a little behind (still not a Con, just falling a little behind CN version).
At least this is my experience (and a few others) with the device. other people might have different thoughts regarding how efficient is EU (unofficial rom).

With global version, they come preloaded with google services, and set as defaults, (except for gallery, music player, and video player), that can easily be changed through settings to whatever app you have. but for me I replaced only gallery, even though gallery has some really great features which I use sometimes, but because all my photos on the cloud I have to stick with google photos. Video player is really good, music player I don't use since I use youtube music.
default search engine is google and no Chinese topics or wording anywhere at all.
all of useless MI apps are not installed by default.
Simply saying, a normal global device, not a Chinese one.

Oh lord. You need to update to the latest. EU rom.
12.5.20 contains fixes for all the things you mentioned, plus already features the Global Enhanced version tweaks to performance with refinements to make it even better.
If you switch to a Global stock rom on a China only variant, you'll loose the ability to use Google Pay and a lot of features so only do so if you're happy to lose out.
As your complaints stem from just not updating for months and months it's not something you'll solve changing roms, instead install the. EU rom update via TWRP.
I'm in the US on t-mobile with a china model flashed with the global ROM. you will not have access to 5G. It is however, very easy to root it and have no problems with google pay or any banking apps.

How did you end up flashing the EU rom to begin with, was it via Fastboot or TWRP?

Hello, I have the Chinese version, which originally came already with the bootloader unlock and with the global version unlock. I really like the global version, but couldn't use a couple of my banking apps, I tried installing magisk and the fix to hidden it but for some reason the device wouldn't pass the safetynet test causing my device not to be certified and my bank apps not to work. Because of this I had to move to xiaomi.eu version, now it pass the safetynet test and all my bank apps work as expected but I really prefer the global version. Is there an easy way to install the global version but passing the safetynet test so my bank apps would work? Like I mentioned I tried different guides to install magisk and the fix to hide it but it wouldn't work, not sure if I did something wrong.

Use V1.2.0 of the SafetyNet fix. Not the latest version (2.2.1).

1st, U must understand what is weekly rom and what is stable rom
And depend on what u need, u will find the most suitable rom for you

Should i update to Android 13 with my situation?

Howdy. I just got a new Pixel 5 and would appreciate some feedback please.
My goals are:
- A phone that's rock stable, speedy and not bloated with unnecessary apps/features that reduce battery life.
- use mainly for productivity apps. Will have between 70-100 apps to use througout the day.
- not interested in visual features, extra securities, gaming etc
- will install Nova Prime and Tasker/Macdroid to further customize phone.
- yes. I have some experience with installing custom roms in the past... 3-4 years ago.
My questions:
1. will updating to Android 13 a good idea with my requirements ? I've look at A13 and don't really need most of the new features. However one option I'm thinking of is to update to A13 then root the phone and use a bloatware removal to remove/disable unnecessary features. Is this a good option?
2. Is there another stable/fast rom that is considerably better than A13 given my priorities above? Stability with features like Gps, wifi, bluetooth, camera, use of gestures and voice controls is important to me.
3. There's a new QR scanner feature in A13 that I may be using in the near future. If I don't upgrade to A13 is there an app for this?

It's too early to tell if Android 13 will be faster or slower. As with any new major update, it will be buggy for the first few months while they iron out the issues with monthly updates. You'll just have to try it out and see.
Stock roms are pretty debloated already so you probably don't need to worry about that too much. But if you wanted, yes you could use a bloatware removal tool to remove more stuff.
Personally, I'm still on Android 11 November patch. I just procrastinated updating because rooting Android 12 required a factory reset and I was waiting for all the major issues to be patched before updating. And then Android 13 just got released lol. For me, Android 11 still runs smoothly and have no issues so I might stay on it for a while longer until I decide to update.
I can't say much on custom roms because I haven't used them but they are still mostly Android 11 and 12 because 13 was only just released.
As for QR scanner, there are plenty of free ones to choose from in the PlayStore so there's no need to worry if you decide not to update to Android 13.
