Face unlock "certificate expired" pixel 4xl - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Hello there!
I recently bought pixel 4xl and when I try to register for face unlock, it gives out "certificate has expired".
looking on the forums, I found out that such problem appears after replacing front camera module with sensors. The only solution to this problem is to move the new camera to the old module. But the problem is that I don't have the old module.
as far as I know, this is due to the fact that the module is "written" in the motherboard.
have any ideas?
P.S. you do not need to offer a reset/reboot and report any cache. this does not work

Front Camera Problem - Can't Connect To Camera

I just bought this phone. When I try to use the front camera I get an error: Can't connect to camera.
I've searched.
I've rebooted.
I've force closed the camera app.
I've cleared the cache and data.
I've flashed the Global Stable ROM.
I've updated the Global Stable ROM.
I've rooted.
I've tried freezing and uninstalling the stock camera app and replacing it with a third-party app.
I've tried flashing a different ROM. (Total failures, btw. Nothing but Error 7 issues.)
I've tried everything I can find that tells me how to fix the issue.
Is my camera screwed, or does anyone know of something that can fix it?
That sounds like everything I would have tried too. Some phones have hidden diagnostic routines in them. I wonder if this phone has diagnostics..
Honestly though, I'd return it before it's too late because it really should have worked out of the box. That camera sounds broken.
Settings » About phone » Tap to kernel info 4 times to get into hardware test, if you mean it by diagnostics. 27th line tests front cam; no idea if it makes sense since it launches the camera apps.
Mi MIX
7.5.4 Épic
Yeah, I've tried that too. Even in diagnostics it errors. Pretty sure the camera is either not hooked up or broken. I spoke to a US rep for Xiaomi. They won't warranty it because it was never launched in the US and I purchased it from a guy off Swappa. I guess I'll either have to live with it or open it up myself. Replacement cameras are $27 on AliExpress.
Thanks for the help.

Dust in Camera Module and Bluetooth problems

So its been well over 20 days since i purchased my Mi A2 from Amazon India and just a few days back Im starting to see dust flecks in my main camera. Sensor. I guess its something to do with the module and the back cover, as i can see a tiny amount of space there.
On contacting Xiaomi India, they said that I should give it for cleaning and my issue will be resolved.
I think that this issue will keep on happening and I want to replace the device.
There is also an issue with my Bluetooth wireless earphones. Android seems to show the battery levels incorrectly always. I checked it with other phones.
What do you guys think?
Do you also have the same problem?
And what about the Smart Lock? The customer care says to do a factory reset. Which didn't work. Obviously.
Meh.

Mi A2 changed camera module - Camera error, cannot connect to camera

Hey
So I had problems with my camera not focusing when trying to take pictures from very close distances (small figures within 10-15 cms), it was all blurry - I tried different options and decided that software changes didn't help the problem so I ordered a new camera module and changed the part. I read that dropping the phone might lead to the lenses getting somehow disoriented and there's only solution to change the module..
Now after replacing the old module the camera app can use the front camera but when I swap to the primary back camera an error occurs and it claims it can't connect to the camera and the camera closes. Is this new module that should be for A2/X6 somehow still somehow incompatible or do you guys have any idea what might the problem?
I've tried to clear the data from the camera, I've reset the factory settings - no help.

Well IMHO, this kind of thing is better leave it to the authorized people @ expert.. I mean you sent it to service center or phone shop and let they do the replacement.. Me itself have experience of dropping my A2 from second floor and screen is badly shattered.. Although I know how to replace it but I won't do that.. I ordered the replacement parts and then sent it to the shop and let them do it.. I just pay for labor cost..

How fix Face ID after replace front camera?

Hello. How to get FaceID to work after replacing the camera module. Are there ways?
I didn't think the front camera had anything to do with face unlock, it's the Soli module that does face unlock.

Front camera work now. soli work. But face id broken (Certificate expired)
I have seen records that after replacing the camera module or motherboard, such a problem arises. But there are not many of them, either people do not bother, or there is a way to restore everything) It is desirable without sending to Google
I suppose you've done a factory reset?
Clear system cache on boot menu.
Do a hard reboot (not reset!)
Clear data of all associated apks including probably Android Services.

If you did a hard reset than what I said is irrelevant.

So the cam module's firmware version isn't compatible with the system firmware version?
Sounds like the damn modular car computer systems... a horror story.
I teardown my 4xl and replace rear camera module. After assembling it again, rear camera worked fine, but front camera and faceid cannot work. My phone cannot detect front camera. It show black screen when flipping from rear to front camera.
WHAT I DID:
1. Factory reset -> not work
2. Flash various factory firmware-> not work
3. Changed another whole front camera + sensor module -> not work.
Please help.
Thanks.

It seems the problem is physical... hopefully.
Closely inspect the ribbon cables and contacts of the front cam for damage or misalignment.
Use magnification as needed.
Make sure any ground points to this module were not overlooked. A longer screw perhaps?
The chassis is aluminum so that is a potential grounding point for mounted components like the front cam.
You did disconnect the battery first, right?
I looked at the tear down vid... I feel your pain.
Just like iPhones parts
pixels parts are married to the motherboard each part has a special SN number the motherboard will require
replacing them may cause a problem

So where's it stored? Firmware?
Or does the cam module need to be flashed?
Or both?

Asus Rog 3 no camera and fingerprint scanning

Hello
I bought Asus Rog 3 (android 12) after replacing the screen. He has this problem:
- Only the front camera works, when I try to switch to the rear camera, the camera freezes for a moment and switches back to the front camera.
However, if I turn on the google camera in the options, the rear camera works normally.
- Doesn't read fingerprints. Scanner turns on but does not scan any lines.
I thought android 12 broke and I uploaded android 11 from Asus and it's the same. After a while, it updated itself again to android 12.
I have no idea how the fault could be.
Anyone have any advice on this problem?
Are you sure the device re-assembled properly? I've replaced the display in my ROG 3 before, all worked out very smoothly. Nothing special involved beyond making sure motherboard, fingerprint reader, cameras and everything else are all connected back together correctly...

Thanks for the answer.
I was also wondering about it, to be honest, but since the rear camera works in the "google camera" mode and the white line scanner also, but it does not scan the line, the problem is probably in the software.
In fastbootd mode it displays something like this, I do not know if it is correct because it is my first Rog 3
I don't want to open it while it's possible. Therefore, I am asking if any of my honorable colleagues had this or a similar problem.

The screenshot doesn't tell much. However, you won't be able to RAW flash this device from there. Check that your have correct Fastboot access from the bootloader (without navigating to above). Then do a RAW flash to one of the A10 or A11 versions that works.

Why should I flash in RAW format? What will this change?
Menu, które wkleiłem, to podmenu fastboot.
I downgraded the software from the Asus website to:
- Android 10 (front / rear camera is working properly, fingerprint scanner is not working)
- Android 11 (rear camera not working, fingerprint scanner not working)
- Android 12 (rear camera not working, fingerprint scanner not working)
I don't know where the problem is. I have already written to Asus about this. We'll see what they write back.
I checked the phone's serial numbers on the Asus website and everything is correct.
The phone was not unlocked and rooted. FOTA is working properly.
Just got the latest version dated 01.08.2022
The problem remained.
Hello
As I wrote above.
Asus spoke very quickly. The phone was sent to service in RMA mode. I don't know what they did, but very fast and everything works as it is supposed to.
I contacted the previous owner and it turned out that the screen was replaced on the Asus service. Guarantee until the end of October
And I was so tempted to open it
It's good that I did not do it because it is a little 16/512GB baby girl
Topic to be closed.
