Hi everyone I am interested in:
Electronics
PC building
Almost all topics in computer science
Currently I want to make an old S5360L (Do not know if the "L" is important ) usable again by upgrading it to a more recent version of Android or another reliable custom ROM, that works well given the limited specs of this device.
Hope to learn lots from the community, I have already read several post before deciding to join.

Hi ,
First I'd like to say hello to everybody here. I'm new at this forum (and not a very intelligent one)
I just bought a TyTNII and been reading these forums trying to gather as much info as possible but unfortunately most of it is beyond my intellectual power.
I found people that hate the phone, people that loves it and people that modified/upgraded it to make it more powerful, faster, etc.
I wonder if there is any link (movil phones for Dummies???) where I can learn some stuff since there are a lot of terms that I don't understand.
May be I can ask here some of my questions and some willing soul might spare some time to help...
I intend to use this phone mostly with Skype (through WiFi) but I'd like to get the most out of it.
So, are there any upgrades (Rom or anything else) that I need to do or should I use it as is?
I been reading about all these different roms people post here but to be honest I'm not 100% sure what are they (I guess they are upgrades for windows) but I don't understand why people design these and not the official Microsoft.
Anyway, too many questions at once. If I get any replis to this one I might be encourage to ask again
Thanks,
Fernando
Read this ROM Flashing FAQ To learn more about roms..
Go through the Kaiser Wiki theres a lot of information there.
Thanks, I'll give it a read
Hello,
I'm new here and I've never done something like flashing a CustomROM.
I have a LG P970 with cracked screen and malfunctioning power button and USB port (they share the same connector which I [kind of] fixed).
My phone is currently running CynagenMod (one of the stable ones I think) but I don't know much more. (I didn't do anything to it, I got it like this)
I am looking forward to play with my phone while I wait for the OPO to be widely released.
My main idea was to put KitKat on it because I heard of the RAM optimization and so on, but I'm not sure if an inexperienced user like me should go that far, should I?

Read through the above links thoroughly. Then come back and ask questions. These are both awesome resources to new users, and many users have asked many of the exact same questions you'd like to ask.
You need to develop a general understanding of both the Android operating system and the methodology and tools used by "hackers" to enhance their phones. Once you get this knowledge, questions are more direct and specific.

That's an amazing help!
It's going to take a while but I'm downloading my first customROM, hopefully I'll soon understand better the process and feel confident enough about it.
There is so much stuff to read!
Thank you!
Hi everyone, I'm a longtime lurker and user of this site and thought I should go ahead and join. I have learned everything I know about unlocking phones and changing or replacing roms from this forum, though I would still be considered a beginner compared to most of you. I have done a few things following the instructions posted for others here. I'm a long time computer, laptop, tablet and phone tech, and electronic engineer and very interested in expanding my knowledge on phones, especially android. And I have come to hate AT&T from what I've read about their bootlockers. I'll never get another AT&T model phone again.

Welcome here, good decision to join
Hi guys,
I am quite new here and wants to know more about android stuff.
Welcome. Do you have an Android device? Learning how to root and customize your device is honestly the fastest way to learn about Android. Go to Manufacturers at the top of this screen to find information for your specific device.
If you prefer reading, check out Android Source. There is a lot of exhaustive information on how Android works.
Lastly, don't forget to read the forum rules. Good luck and have fun!
I am totally new to rooting & stuff. Reason to be here and checking out the site is because I decided NOT to throw away my older android devices, all Samsung. For sure there are limitations in how long a device can be securely used, also horsepower might be an issue, but for using them as touch displays in local LAN only. risk is limited I'd say. So...I'll go an root my tab4 as the first candidate...
Before I miss it....thanks for making and keeping this forum alive, helping even total newbies like me.
Glad to have you join XDA! Continue to enjoy the forums Development!!
