Hello fellow Redmi S2 community
We finally have some custom rom/ Project Treble roms available to use
Please NOTE: Most are unstable as daily drivers as we still don't have developer support for our little device
Disclaimer
You know the drill, I'm not responsible for what happens to your device
good luck!
Let's begin!
I have been testing different project treble roms AND the Miui base roms (ranging from stable Miui9 - 10 and beta's) to find the most 'stable' daily driver
The best combination to date is using the Sep 11th MIUI 10 global stable with Resurrection Remix.
However if you do want to experiment, I highly recommend doing so as the Project Treble roms are updating constantly.
I will leave links to recommended ARM - A roms below and the recommended MIUI 10 base roms to flash over.
What you need:
Miui Base rom both Fastboot & Recovery (I recommend MIUI 10 stable)
Project Treble GSI (gemeric system.img)
Fastboot installed on your PC - there are plenty of tutorials, use google
GAPPS (please note I have had a lot of difficulties installing gapps and HIGHLY recommend you download a rom with gapps go pre-installed. You can use apps like LINK2SD to delete the Go-version and install the fulll version later)
A little bit of patience and time - first boots can take 5-10minutes

Known Issues
There are many, let me know and I will compile a list
Brightness scaling
Auto-brightness
Instructions
Backup ALL data & partitions
Boot into TWRP recovery
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe data (backup)
Flash MiUi stock rom VIA fastboot
When rom flash is complete DO NOT BOOT THE ROM
Reboot into Fastboot
Make sure your GSI or system.img is in your Fastboot folder
Run this command: fastboot flash system the-name-of-your-rom.img
For example: fastboot flash system-180818-arm-aonly-vanilla-nosu.img
Now the ROM has been flashed, you can install TWRP, Magisk and GAPPS or just reboot into your new rom
If I helped you please thank me, it helps a lot enjoy your new project treble roms!

Hi guys
First of all I am NOT A DEVELOPER!
There are plenty of issues with every AOSP treble build but they can function OKish for daily use.
You can install almost any Project Treble GSI that has support fo devicesr: ARM - A
I recommend using ResurrectionRemix - it has been the most stable for daily use I have experienced so far
https ://sourceforge. net/projects/resurrectionremix-oreo/files/armaonly/
^ ^
-remove the spaces-
You need the system.img (Generic System Image - these are used for project treble roms) to proceed further.
THIS WILL DELETE ALL OF YOUR DATA. MAKE A BACKUP OR SAVE YOUR FILES ELSEWHERE.
and of course I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone, do this at your own risk and be prepared to face bugs! and use google to find out how to overcome them.
good luck my friends!
Known issues:

Download the latest Miui 10 Beta recovery rom current - MIUI 10 8.8.30
Reboot to TWRP recovery
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe data (backup)
Advanced wipe- system cache dalvik data
Flash latest stock rom - MIUI 10 8.8.30 beta
Reboot to fastboot
Plug your phone into your computer
copy your downloaded GSI.img to your adb&fastboot folder
Flash via fastboot: fastboot flash system the-name-of-your-rom.img
Reboot into TWRP & install Magisk
- PLEASE NOTE I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH INSTALLING Gapps, PLEASE TRY AND FIND A ROM THAT COMES WITH Gapps. YOU CAN USE L2SD TO DELETE THE GO VERSION AND INSTALL THE FULL VERSIONS FROM PLAY STORE LATER-
Reboot
I am not a developer, this is not my main device but I am here to help solve any problems or try and help find solutions!

Looking forward to seeing more Project Treble roms out there!
Please support rom
Some applications are not supported because they support 64-bit architecture, which refmi s2 cpu can run 64-bit version. However, the developer has only 32-bit in operating system, which causes a lot of problems. One of the major problems is that you can not install a 64 bit application. Please help make this a ROM.
Users of Redmi s2 have asked the developers of Xiaomi's way to make a new ROM that supports 64-bit architecture, but has ignored it and has never talked about it.
Android Version : MIUI 11 Pie 9 Ported From MM2 Easy recovery install.
You should be having proper knowledge of flashing Custom ROM and how to Restore a phone if anything goes wrong.
Take complete backup before taking any action based on this thread. I am not responsible for any action taken by you.
I am just compiling all the information / files available on different websites into this thread, I have patched together with cyber spit, bubblegum, and tape, for a pretty much fully working Miui 11 PIE running rom. I have removed what I believe to be all of the bloat. Worked to modify a working miui pie vendor. Magisk 19.5 installer is all ready included as well as the modified boot for root access. The playstore installer is also included for a fully functioning playstore.
All Credit goes to respective developer/s included in the install.txt within the zip file. I request XDA moderator and or Developer of Respective files to let me know if I have forgotten to mentioned (give credit) their name in this thread. The Download Links are given directly from respective Developer/s.
You need the following two files to Test MIUI 11 PIE on Mi Max 2 (Oxygen). This ROM recovery is ported from the Xiaomi RedMi with many patches and customized from various sources. This ROM maybe Stable enough for your daily use on Mi Max 2. I have access to two MM2 4/64 Global versions using a 1tb sd card one on At&t the other on Tmobile and all features I need are currently working.
1a. Treble Mi Max 2 Recovery 3.2.1 https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=5862345805528056270
1b. OrangeFox Recover 10
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ora...n.zip/download
2. MIUI 11 Pie ROM ported from MM2
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1KfWqQmi7bN_yXZfgVzxiifWuS2jDozCr
First step:
Start your phone into recovery and Flash a Treble recovery, if already not flashed. Restart into Recovery.
Click Wipe then Advance wipe and clear System, Vendor, Boot, Data, Cache, and Dalvick cache.
Second step:
Now Extract the Downloaded Rom files in Recovery backup folder. You should know where and how to Extract. (Use extract tool for android or pc then copy paste to recovery backup folder.)
Third step:
Click Restore and Select System, Boot, Vendor and Swipe to confirm. Wait for restore to complete. If any errors, Reboot recovery and try again. Or Mount the System, Vendor, Boot and try again. After Restore completes Reboot. Please allow 3-5 Minutes for first boot.
What works:
Cell Service, Wifi 5ghz/2.4ghz, Bluetooth, Torch, Camera, Sound, Auto Brightness, HW buttons.
What doesn't work:
Some people can't log in to Xiaomi account ( I do not use it, So I can not verify either or).
I do not have dual 4G sims so I can not verify if its working. There may be potential signal problems for some user but I didn't faced in USA with Tmobile, Or AT&T operators.
Eye protection mode/ reading mode 100% does not work, But similar apps available within the play store.
Playstore Installer Included & Now Working. (Due to the chinese base)
Guys, this is a nearly perfect MIUI 11 PIE package for our lovely Xiaomi Mi Max 2 (Oxygen) Although MIUI 11 is still beta.
If I missed anything in the above, kindly let me know to include. If you make any further updates / patches that makes this ROM more stable / perfect or enables new features, please don't hesitate to message me to include in this thread.
I have an old PC running windows with 8gb max at any one given time, So if you would like to make the recovery image into a flashable zip, I'd be happy to update/add it.
If you can afford it, Im trying to save for a computer from this decade, any help is appreciated
https://www.paypal.me/LiamMcGinnisIv
If you would like to use the boot, vendor, system, or any other files, All I ask is pass on the proper credits. With this we should be able to have a fully functioning android Q in the near future (Currently toying around with fair progress in the free time).

In all miui based rom, In call volume is much louder than other custom roms. and also no echo issue in miui roms.
Outstanding!
Only wish there was a way to install this for use with dual boot patcher in order to test it out.
Does camera app works? I have crashes with message: "Could not find tag for key xiaomi.ai.asd.enabled".

Basically the same gsi source. But older patched boot, older magisk, and play store installer will not work with conner, yet its labeled *.24
But hey either or, flash what y'all want. If I knew someone was going to keep this updated, and work out the bugs as Xiaomi releases 11 tomorrow, I would just go back to playing with A10.
After all I don't even use these mi max 2s any longer. Was just trying to contribute to the old gang.
Lol , reason why I left.. they insult the older devs who use there time for them

Every time I flashed on my end kept crashing system (black screen sticks), odd. Its why I dumped in the chinese play store installer v3.

None of any of this could have been accomplished without you or hardrock 83.

Nope didn't notice..
Fixed now (On My End), working on a few adjustments, ect.
Will be uploaded today with some tweaks.
Is there a way to remove the on-screen navbar without having to enable full screen gesture? I prefer hardware buttons. And one more thing, how to disable the rounded corners? Apart from these two probs and known bugs, this ROM has been decent so far. Thanks!
Hello Everyone. I am using Redmi Note 9 but I cant find any Custom Roms for it. I always find same ROM for Note 9pro and 9s. Does anyone have any idea whether they will work on Note 9. I want to use Evolution X rom.
9s and 9 pro roms won't work for the normal Redmi Note 9 no.
You can try GSI (treble) roms, they work just fine aside from the brightness slider being miscalibrated.
Could be fixed by creating an overlay for it which someone has tried to do, waiting for merge: https://github.com/phhusson/vendor_hardware_overlay/pull/257
But yeah other than that it works well, see here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development

Custom ROMs made SPECIFICALLY for our device don't exist yet. It's a MTK chipset instead of the more common Snapdragon one, causing issues.
That said, the treble project makes systems that are cross-compatible among a variety of devices, those systems are called GSI's.
I invite you to check-out my guide at the "Installing Custom ROMs" section: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-9/how-to/faq-guides-bootloader-magisk-edxposed-t4176581

Thanks man! That's a great tutorial. Im a bit confused on where and when I flash Gaaps in the following steps "
Installing Custom ROMs
...
Step 3 - Put your phone into fastboot mode (Power + Volume Down) and link it to your PC.
Step 4 - Move the .img file you downloaded to your ADB & Fastboot (Platform Tools) folder, and rename it to system.img.
....
"
what command do I use to install gapps?
Also, unrelated, but how safe is it to flash a GSI ROM w/o having a custom recovery. I have tried flashing ROM on a phone w/o twrp & messed something, and it wasn't pleasant haha... is there some way I could mess up the steps? Perhaps by installing the wrong from (I'm using losq-v224-201017-arm64-bgN.img.xz ..that's correct right?)

You need the STOCK recovery to get into fastbootd mode, which is required to flash your GSI.
You cannot overwrite system partition with regular (blue) fastboot.
And when you install Orangefox or TWRP or anything like that, you get rid of fastbootd.
As for gapps, just get a rom with gapps.
In your case, you picked losq. Look at the name, it's arm64 which is correct and then:
- b for A/B phones (like the Redmi Note 9) so that's correct
- g means it has gapps by default (the opposite would be v meaning vanilla)
- N means it comes unrooted (the opposite would be S for superuser)

All three that are in my signature are really good, you can't go wrong with any of them.
I recently moved from LOSQ to crDroid and now CAOS, and all three are similar. The main difference is the amount of customisation available.
In my experience so far:
crDroid > CAOS > LOSQ in terms of customisation
CAOS (much smoother imo) > LOSQ = crDroid in terms of performance
And personally the amount of customisation available in CAOS is more than sufficient, and animations feel a lot smoother to me.
As far as stability goes, I don't know haven't had issues with any of them.

It's the same as losq, you want arm64 bgN
B because that's our device type
G for gapps
N for no root
I suggest you to keep on stock rom firmware only.
Root it with magisk. Flash it with twrp.
And everything is fine.

Ah, nice. Thanks OP for the builds, and also thanks to @zahidm for providing us with unofficial PE up until this point!
I noticed that the downloads page offered a special PE recovery image? I was curious and looked and the instructions and they seemed different than the usual "flash using TWRP" that most ROMs use. Do we have to follow the steps on the website?

I'm wondering what's the difference between regular edition and plus edition?
and what about battery life, is there anyone tried it? please give a review.
Actually I'm on Pixel Experience Plus "unofficial" from the Cross Device Development section.
Do this Official version start from that build? Or it's a completely new project? I mean will I find everything working well with the same "plus" customizations? Thanks

You need to use LOS recovery or TWRP. If I will drop codename overiding, anyone will can't flash PE via twrp.

Oh ok, I installed the rom by temporarily flashing twrp, will install it permanently then. And another thing is I'm not able to sideload apks when I try to install it shows installing and nothing shows up, but I'm able to install it through adb install,

If you rooted your Android device, change your device model to Pixel you'll get unlimited photos & video uploads on Google Photos for lifetime at ORIGINAL quality.
Does any one know how to change Device Model on Op6, i have rooted but cant see model in Build.prop
Does this support customizable vibration intensity like the unofficial version?
@ipha There's no options such as vibrations settings (I have this ROM), but if I'm correct you can do it via Kernel manager (Not sure..) it's a LOS Kernel so I think that's possible.
Note 100% sure about that.
Anyone not able to install apks? I'm not able to but working through adb install
Guys, is it just me or are the device-specific settings missing in this ROM (I installed PE+)?

No, same here. I noticed in the previous unofficial builts already, that those only show up after a while. I hope it's going to be the same here...
Is anybody able to move the volume menu over to the left? Its really bugging me being on the right side. Other than that, the rom is great so far.

You can't! Not on Pixel Experience. It might become available on PE+ but not on normal PE

* reboot phone to bootloader (adb reboot bootloader)

Thanks for sharing this Rom, Is it necessary to patch init.bot.img with this rom or is it already done? I saw in Pixelflasher app that you can flash a custom rom from the app, but I need to know if you have to patch the file.

Read the instructions, just follow them.
Love this rom, battery is insane on wifi
thanks for sharing this amazing rom!
It would be cool to have Kirisakura kernel built in and 32 bits apps support and face id too!
I got an unlocked pixel 7 pro just for the sake of custom Roms. I like having more freedom. That's all. Not being tied to just stock.

Dumb question: But is that possible ? To have 32 bits app support? I thought it was a hardware limitation

It's not a hardware limitation, it's purely software. Google stripped the 32-bit libraries from the ROM.
BTW, there's a thread for this ROM over in the Pixel 7 Pro section:
SparkOS 13.2 | Android 13 | [UNOFFICIAL] - [11/29/2022]
SparkOS is an AOSP based ROM, packed with many features without sacrificing stability and performance. In short a fully functional operating system as stable and customizable as it should be. /* Your warranty is now void. * * I am not...

When I attempt to flash, it says the bootloader version cloudripper-1.0-9231809 is outdated and will only work if updated to cloudripper-1.0-9231810. I've tried searching all over and can't find out where to download it.

Gotcha, thanks. Been looking but I haven't been able to find any ROMs or Kernels that offer 32-bit app support. Hopefully there will be one in the future

Thanks for the update. I no longer have the cloudripper problem just a boot loop problem. Starts the booting process (the Spark animation starts) then it just goes black and reboots. I tried changing the active slots but that did not work. This is a brand new Pixel 7 phone. There are no issues loading google's stock rom. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Could be a bad download. Try download again, and perform same setup instructions.

I'm pretty sure it's because you're on the December update. Spark hasn't been updated for the December update just yet, it's still on the November update.

I would absolutely love any test build you have for the 7. I just don't have the 7 pro.
