Hello. I just bought S10 (G973U1) After setting up my phone, mobile data is locked. When I try to turn it on again, the device says, " security policy prevents use of mobile data." I tried to factory reset, try different SIM cards, erase data from some SIM and network related apps, but nothing changed. I assume it has something to do with Samsung Knox.
What should I do? Is recommendable to contact Samsung support? Can I flash another firmware / ROM that fix this issue? Thanks a lot, any help is appreciated.
PS: Calls and SMS are also locked.

Security policy prevents use of mobile data
Hi all. I just bought a S10e (G970U, Snapdragon) from China in order to use it in Spain, with Orange as a carrier. Once I set it up, everything worked fine for about 20 seconds. After that, the mobile data locked down. When I try to turn it up...

Sounds like you may have a network-locked phone... but there are some other ideas on that thread as well.

Hi,
New P10. Inserted my sim and start it up:
How do I get past the prompt "Change to Vodafone configuration"
"Hi it seems like you are using a Vodafone SIM card. Do you want to change your phone settings to support the new SIM? (Please note that selecting this option will reset your device and erase your current settings and data)"
There is only OK button.
I know if I tap OK this wipes the phone. I dont want the Vodafone settings. I just want to set up my phone myself. Vodafone loads a bunch of rubbish.
But this screen seems to be difficult to bypass. HELP!
With my P8 I set up a bunch of stuff and then inserted my sim and LOST EVERYthing!!! I dont want to repeat this!!! There has to be a way out of this!!!

I tried to bypass this as well when setting up my P10 Lite, but to no avail, unfortunately. I hate that there's no choice in the matter when using a Vodafone sim card. Very annoying!
Good morning.
I'm in Turkey for work, and at the Vodafone point, i think the guy did this operation (reset and change the phone settings) without asking me.
Now my huawei P10 have some vodafone app that i can't remove.
After that, in the phone there was not app like play store, chrome, and also the keyboard, so i've made an hard reset.
Now the phone is working, but it looks like a branded phone.
How can i revert to the stock configuration?
Thank you very much

Unfortunately, whether he asked you or not, there is no way around using the Vodafone configuration when using a Vodafone sim card. It is better to do the Vodafone reset as soon as possible, because as soon as you put a Vodafone sim in, the phone will prompt you to reset, and there is no way that this can be avoided. You will then lose all of your apps and data once you do the reset, you'll need to set the phone up again.
If you cannot remove the Vodafone apps, then you should be able to disable the apps in Settings > Apps > Choose the app you want disabled > Disable.
Hi, thanks for your answer.
I know there's no other possibilities, but there are many other operators, and in the end I did another sim, not vodafone.
But this reset has caused me many problems, I was traveling without a phone, and i lost many things on the phone.
I think he was not professional at all.
Now i want to revert to factory configuration, it is possibile or i have to download and flash the firmware?
Thank you
I understand your frustration completely. I'm not sure there is a way for you to get back to the default configuration again. I think once it is reset to a specific country's configuration, it is done permanently, but I am speaking under correction.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge regarding this can help.
If it's not possible, then the only other alternative would be to rebrand your device, BUT that will require an unlocked bootloader.

Hey guys,
my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was on the table, when the AVG-Anti Theft alarm started suddenly.
I thought that it is just a bug and unlocked my phone, using the PIN, that I set when setting up AVG.
Now, the intetesting part starts:
I was not able, to connect my phone to the carrier-network (let's call it carrier A), which means I can't call anybody or send SMS or do anything, a phone is supposed to do.
At thirst, I thought that the sim card must be defect and tried to put it into another phone. The other phone did not have any problems, connecting to the network.
My second thought was that the modem or something like that in my phone has a defect, which is causing the issues. Oh boy, was I wrong, as every other carriers sim cards are working with the Note 8. I do have 3 sim cards from carrier A and each one from carrier B and C. All three cards from carrier A are not working, but B and C are.
Then I decided to call the carrier A support, which assured that my phone is causing the problems, rather than their network.
Afterwards, I tried hard resetting my phone and even re-flashing the stock ROM did not do anything.
I would appreciate any help.
P. S. I'm sorry, if my English is not that good, it is a foreign language for me.
Looks like it is the avg app that is causing the trouble, have you contacted de developer?
Contacted AVG
Yes I did contact the AVG support, but have not got an answer yet. But do you think that AVG could make such changes to the system, which would persist, even after a factory reset/ re-flash?
Hi,
Someone could advise me, why the hell in the first step I updated to Android Pie, from Oreo! One of the big mistakes I could ever do, ruined my note 8, fiscally!!
After update to Android Pie, network was alright, data mobile, text, calls, video etc!
2 days ago, my 4G disappeared from top of my screen!!! I took out the sim hundreds of time, I've done factory network reset, I was in Phone app, cleared cached!
I got this big issue, called NOT REGISTERED TO NETWORK! someone could tell me how can I sort out?
Please see the pictures attached
Did you check if your imei has is still the good one? I had an issue like this after flashing a new ROM on my Galaxy S2. Maybe your upgrade failed on some part.
Hey OP,
Have your issue resolved yet? Please give an update as I have a similar issue.

How did you do this? I don't see this option on my Exynos Note 8
the phone was blacklisted by network mother, and can be use only on that network! I tried everything to fix it but nothing, seems to be was impossible! I bought the phone from Facebook, was brand new, sealed, unlocked at that moment, can take any SIM! exactly after 1 year, the stopped accepting my SIM, i thought initial phone was bought via a contract and the person stopped paying his monthly payments, so they blocked to use only on that network!
How I've done an factory network reset, try to search in settings, but I am sure all option for resetting are on section factory reset!

this wipe "only" erase APN options.. not a wipe config your app for restart that.
in apps search SIM app. SIM CONFIG or similar option. delete cache and data in modo avion. then, after delete and force stop, desactive modo avion.
mi note8 haved similar problem and i resolved with that.
I finally got it fixed by following simple procedure I found at another XDA thread.

My phone is the VOG-L29 10.0.0.178(C605E19R1P3) and I'm in the U.S. does anyone know how to fix mobile data not working after updating to 10.0.0.178(C605E19R1P3) from 9.1?
*Downloaded the update through the phone UI*
To verify that it was an OS issue I reverted back to 9.1 and the problem went away. So I updated again and it broke. My carrier is AT&T but the signal is fine as I can see the connection strength in the network settings and the SIM is registered. Plus I can see the cell information on the top left of the phone so the sim is definitely recognized. Bought a new sim anyway but the problem persists. Huawei support recommended I just not update my phone and keep it on 9.1 without security patches.
Already did a factory reset after updating to 10 and wiped the cache but that still didn't solve it.
So basically when simply looking at the phone, it appears to be working, until I try to do anything on mobile data. I can even see the send and receive icons being displayed to the right of the AT&T logo at the top left but I can't access the internet. everything else works including Wi-Fi.
This same thing happened when I tried to install 10.0.0.173 over 9.1.
Any ideas on a fix would be great, thank you in advance.

Re-enter the passwords on the APNs, it corrupts them, they're supposed to be ******* or something but it enters BLANK, something along those lines, but that's the fix

That fixed it, I can't thank you enough.
I have a Sony XZ3 which was bought second hand 18 months ago. It's worked fine until about 1 month ago when it didn't get good signal or data anymore.
I am in the UK and use a giffgaff sim which runs on the o2 network. I found after some investigation that the phone for some reason was now connected to The Virgin network and I can't get it off.
Giffgaff have not been able to help, they said the phone is now locked to Virgin, Virgin said the phone is not locked but they did confirm that when it was bought new it was from them. Checking the handset it actually does say unlocked.
Have done a sim swap - the sim works fine, it's the phone that's the problem. It does the same with a different giffgaff sim in it.
Have reset network but it doesn't work and just defaults back to Virgin again. Have done factory reset 3 times but again just defaults back to Virgin every time. It says all other networks unavailable.
Can someone help please with what to do next?
Is there some kind of hard reset which will wipe everything including whatever is causing it to be switching to Virgin all the time? Or some way to override it?
It still shows no signal most of the time even though it says it's on Virgin
Thank you.
Hi everyone. I have the same problem. Since some weeks ago my phone doesn't recognize any network, not wifi or mobile and the it reset alone. I was told that it might be a software problem. I have already done factory reset and software repair from xperia companion but the problem persists.
I don't know if any of you knows if this is a hardware problem. But also I was trying to install a custom rom for android 11 to see if the problem is solved, but I can't unlock the bootloader either. I followed Sony official instructions to do this but for some reason Windows 10 doesn't recognize the phone after I turn it off and the press and hold the volume up button while connecting the phone to the PC with the usb cable. The drivers are installed but in the device manager it appears with a code 10 saying that the device might not be able to be recognize.
I have already checked if I can unlock the bootloader and it says yes.
Thank you very much.
