Hi everyone, I have a Samsung galaxy note 8 SM-N950F/DS rooted from United Arab Emirates. I live in Tanzania. Everything works fine but I wish to unroot it back to its Stock rom mainly because of a reddish rectangular shape in the background with faintly visible Korean insignia (I think it's the developers signature or something, not sure). It also has no software update option (software update not active) so I'm stuck with April 1 2019 security patch update.
However I've some fears because honestly I don't know why it was rooted in the first place.
My fears are if I try to flash stock rom I may get stuck on bootloop or something worse and I wouldn't know how to go about it, I also fear losing its dual Sim option or even god-forbid IMEI. Can someone please walk me through the process, so I can get back to stock rom and finally get rid of this rectangular patch in the background Thanks in advance.

I can give you the links that will tell you how to flash stock filmware and how to download the filmware but I can't guarantee that you won't come into any issues, however it is pretty safe to flash stock filmware. With the Korean insignia that you mentioned, does this always appear even when using different apps? If so this could be a screen burn in where flashing stock won't get rid of it.
To download stock filmware use this great PC program "Frija" just put in you model number and your CSC code and it will download the latest filmware (For your CSC code go to settings/about phone/software information/under service provider SW ver to see your 3 digit code, for example mine is BTU) It is a free program and you download at a decent speed.

Then just follow the steps in this post on how to download Odin and flash the filmware you downloaded using Odin. When selecting the CSC package for Odin use the one with "home" written in it as there are 2 in the zip file you download using Frija.

Thank you very much sir, yes this red rectangular shape in the background is there permanently no matter which app I'm using and it's especially more visible when the screen is blank(white). Thanks for the PC app link. I'll try and post a reply here.
Screen burn?! I don't think so ( I could be wrong) but it's situated symmetrically in the middle of the screen covering the left to right. Upper and lower parts of the screen are left out. I'll try to post it's image though it may be difficult to see it because of it's faintness.

Your welcome.
It does sound like screen burn in because it's always there regardless of the app being used.

No offense, but it sounds really weird. never heard of a screen going pink. May be related with some custom boot animation glitch. Have you tried to use CWM for a factory reset. Might solve you problem. though am not sure.
On Download mode, the screen colors are normal!
On First boot, the samsung boot logo colors are normal for 1 second, and turn pink again.

All i can suggest that try to go back to a stable stock GB Rom (preferrably matching ur stock one) using Odin. Afterwards u can update to ICS, through kies. Alternatively Kriskelo and PA Roms are excellent, if you can follow instructions carefully. I guess you are experiencing a soft brick. Seniors, please correct me if i am wrong. Browse Forum for dealing with soft bricks and hopefully you will solve it.
Good luck
Gingerbread Brazil (VIVO) work fine! When i install any ICS ROM, the screen goes pink!

that's suck, never got that problem with my 2 other i717 ...
Something interesting ... i have tried to flash the GB bootloader -> No change, color is still pink/red and darker, note boot up and works fine.
Now, i have trying to flash the stock GB Kernel to be exact, this one: KERNEL_N7000XXLA3_CL880036_REV02_eng_mid_noship.tar
The note boot up and hang at the Samsung screen, but the color is still perfect white ... so there is something on the new ICS Kernel that render some screen with pink/red tint.
I don't have knowledge to poke around the kernel, hope some genius can figure out what was changing? maybe the video driver?
I have the same issue
Hi, I have the same issue on my n7000, someone know how fix it or I should stay on GB firmware?

I installed it on my Note 4 and I can say that it feels more stable now.
No more "contacts has stopped", camera preview (right after taking a picture) is fast, no more waiting.
Do not disturb and the old "sound profiles" are back.
Overall the device seems more responsive.
Installed over BOB4 without data wipe, only Cache wipe from recovery.
Confirmed by SamsungNL: CSC is specific for the Samsung Experience Store!

If i flash over stock rooted lollipop i maintain root?
Looks amazing, bloat free.
First of all, we say that the software is now marked N910CXXU1BOC3 and continue to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. Changes are few, but the most important is the return of the "Mute", which somehow disappeared in Lollipop. I also noticed that the interrupt function is now called Do Not Disturb and is used to mute all calls, notifications and alarms outside the defined exceptions. Certainly improved liquidity and contacts startup speed, switch between the dialer and contacts or gallery, which now opens much faster. I can also confirm that other users who also noticed that finally Lollipopie run applications that previously throwing error. I also have the impression that the light beam has undergone a facelift notifications. You do not have this feeling that changed the brightness icon on the toolbar? The battery is difficult to say anything, but I sincerely hope that there is no longer a delay after the call is answered, and finally the GPS to work properly (does not sever the connection).
After this update finally the lag when pressing the multitasking button is gone!
Its a tar that gotta be flashed via odin. Im running echoe rom v3. Will I loose my root and stuff if I flash this?
Works like a charm !!
I'm using an unlocked SIM n910f running 4.4.4 (France SFR), is there any risk to lose my SIM unlock if update this version via Odian ?

Yes, you will lose root and your stuff. It is not confirmed yet, but i think that CF-root will root this version too.

Guys, I know this is maybe little off topic. But I think I can get your opinion on this. I have a problem while calling, I have a little call volume so I have to set call volume at highest volume, but when I do that, my speaker does absolutely terrible cracking sounds and during call I can literally hear that annoying buzzing noise like the wind or how to describe that...it is really annoying while talking to someone. It does that even while ringing and waiting for someone to pick up. It is not my provider fault I tried in another phone (and the signal is full) I am on stock 4.4.4, network is set on Auto (3g/2g) because when it was on auto (4g/3g/2g) my battery went down in minutes....do you have any idea? Thank you...
I consider this firmware the fastest on any Samsung phone. I am more than happy that a Samsung can be fluid like a HTC.

I've got it too. For some reason the drop down menu has changed to an uglier shade of yellow green, the colour of frog excrement.. Otherwise don't really notice significant changes. Samsung has layered the ui so much that it just looks like.. Well Samsung. Not very evident it's lollipop tbh
If anyone is manually flashing the ROM using ODIN, check your CSC beforehand. There are two different regions of NZ that Samsung released the update for, which are TNZ and NZC. If you flash the wrong CSC version, your CSC will turn to an unknown state meaning that you won't be receiving OTA updates in the future. I have the Taiwan version (BRI) and I flashed the NZC version and now the CSC state is unknown. It's still Lollipop, but you will have to manually flash every updates released from this point forward.

It must be how Samsung programmed its CSC for the ROM. When the official ROM comes out for your region, you can restore using Kies 3 or Smart Switch. Then, you will get OTA updates as usual like you did before.

weird, I flashed NZC (formerly had BRI) and mine was still BRI. I did some benchmarking and I guess it was a little "dirty" and was getting really low results. So I just went into recovery wiped data and cache. Now my device claims to be NZC and works flawlessly. Best of luck

Unresponsive touchscreen after Lollipop
Hi there guys,
After updating my Galaxy Note 4 n910U to Lollipop via OTA, the touchscreen just became unresponsive. The update went on smoothly and my phone booted fine and it's on Lollipop now. I can navigate normally using the screen through the S-Pen but it just would not respond to touch. Very frustrating. New device, been waiting for this update and this happens. Please help.
Thanks!

You could try factory reset in recovery followed by a cache wipe and a repeat factory reset. Flash the NZC firmware again. After flashing again go to recovery and do a factory reset followed by a cache wipe and another factory reset. Boot and check if you are able to still see the csc in unknown status.
thx for the tip,
I'll probably wait for the HK version of Lollipop and then go back to the original csc

Hello I received a Samsung Galaxy S23 from a friend today. He was having problems with the device stuck in a boot loop and unable to get past the Samsung startup screen, so I decided to flash it for him as a failed attempt to help a friend and get some $ in return. The device identifies as a SM-S911U1 , which I am led to believe it is an unlocked US version. Therefore, if there is any OTHER ROM I could flash as long as it should work, I'm willing to ADB and try it out and post results.. thank you in advance.
So he should have sent it to warranty (if he wasn't messing around and cause that).

I've successfully flashed it using Odin with a US cellular rom but it shows up now as a "U" deviIce. In other words the modelnow shows in about phone as SM-S911U instead if the original SM-S911U1. I now have the proper file to flash MY device ( he gave it to me for a amazing price as i found out its a demo device and he got it from his job but thats another issue as now i need help fixing the IMEI and seeimg if it even has cellular capabilities ....) my only question right now is if i flash the device with a "U1" file now instead of a "U" file will i brick the phone?? I am curremtly going to attempt it using the file that was told to me about by "realbbb" (thank you BTW!) that is available on frija and see if it bricks the device or if it fixes my cellular issues and activates the modem to use with a SIM card now. Hello and thank you very much for this info. i been busy lately and just was able to come across your post today and am going to try it right now. Also if you would happen to know about the whole 'U' device vs. 'U1" device thing I would greatly apricate it. Also please refer to my previous reply I did to "windows4droid" about me flashing the device and it now showing up as a "SM-S911U Galaxy S23 instead of a "SM-S911U1" device as it had originally been when I first received the phone. Thank you so very much. I'm going to try to flash the phone right now with the file you suggested to me and hope it can revert back to the original model now that it doesn't have the factory live demo mode on it anymore (that's the original reason the device was not working and stuck in a bootloop because my friend had tried to remove the demo mode from the phone and messed it up the first time...) I dont have screen shots of what was originally on the device but this is what is now on it since i flashed it myself. heres some screenshots so yall can see whats going on and whats on the phone currently.

I understand that WWD is a DEMO CSC. Flash U or U1 firmware. I would run with U1.
The missing IMEI's are also an indication of a demo device. Flashing anything other than the original imei is prohibited (be careful) and getting a valid unused imei/imei(esim) will be a pain with a newly released series. Flash a donor imei and/or imei(esim) to use.
Hopefully the demo device is not defective or incomplete.

Hello everyone,
Last week, I did something stupid. I was looking into updating my Samsung Galaxy S10 to Android 13, and for that, I had to perform a bootleg on my phone. Since I don't have enough knowledge about it, I followed a video tutorial. However, I don't think they explained everything correctly because I encountered an error while loading my phone. To fix this, I had to reinstall the firmware and then restart it. But after the restart, the Samsung interface and all my apps appeared much larger, which is extremely annoying. I have already tried going to the accessibility options and adjusting the icon grid, but it only helps with a small part of the interface. Can someone help me?
I know it's dumb to do this without enough knowledge, but I still wanted to give it a try.
What do you mean by "bootleg"?

I'm not sure how it is called I thought it called bootleg.
I got stuck in the blue Download screen for samsung s10.
It looked like this:

After that I had to reinstall the firmware but I didn't find a firmware option for my country so I installed from a country nextdoor.
When I signed in to the phone the UI was waaay bigger than before.
You mean you installed a different CSC? As long as the firmware is for your model number, it should be fine. To change the UI size go into Display Settings.
What is the model number of your device? I can help you look for the latest firmware on SamMobile.

Yes other country but the right firmware. I already changed the display settings but that doesn't solve the problem. my interface in different apps is also way bigger.
My model number is: SM-G973F/DS
Country: Belgium
(but I installed from the Netherlands, but i think that is not the problem)

What should I do to get my old ui back should I do another firmware update to hopefully get my old interface back. I think it could have something to do with the android version?
Before I did the firmware manually I just had the stock phone with its automatic update. I see there are different android version for the samsung s10. with the firmware update I now have:
android: 12
One UI version: 4.1
