does mi 8 support mi 9 27 watt wall adapter from mi wireless charging bundle ? Then I want to know charging speed difference in mi 8 original charger vs mi 9 original charger.i was planning to mi 9 original charger for mi 9 but I saw mi 9 shiped with 18 watt charger same watt as my mi 8 adapter.so I want to know will the charging speed be the same or faster in mi 9 adapter?
almost September 2020, and I have news for you ...
I'm using google translator because I speak Spanish, sorry.
August 30, 2020, I have stable miui 12 from xiaomi.eu.
I have the charger of the xiaomi mi 9 (the one that comes with the wireless charging base) and the charging result is as follows:
using the antutu app it says the estimated capacity is 96%. In 65 minutes it has charged from 3% to 87%, it is not as fast as the xiaomi mi 9 (change my mi 9 for a mi 8 and money) but I think it is charging at more than 18 watts.
According to Antutu, the temperature of the battery is 36 degrees and that of the CPU is 39, but before these temperatures were between 45 and 50 degrees.
I wait for your comments about it.
Thank you.
Yes it does, and it should be faster compared to 18w one that came with mi 8. (27w>>18w)
Currently doing a test to compare it with the Mi 9. Have both the Mi 9 and Mi 8 and I have the 27W charger. Currently testing the Mi 8 from 55% to 100%, doing the same with the Mi 9. Will update on this.
EDIT: 27W doesnt work on the Mi 8. It took 55 minutes to get from 55% to 97%.
I have tested my Mi 8 with USB-PD 2.0 and 3.0 Chargers.
QC3 18W - charges about 1,5% per minute at 2400mAh
USB-PD 27W - charges about 2% per minute at 3200mAh
QC4 is based on USB-PD with a few super awesome secret features, if you ask Qualcomm.
What's needed is a USB-PD (or QC4) Charger that delivers 3A at 9V.
The Charger needs a USB-C Port and you need to use a USB-C to USB-C Cable without any adapters.
But don't get too happy right now. I present you the problems:
1. 27W Charging only is faster up to 60%. With a charge rate of 3200mAh at 60% the battery voltage reaches max and the phone needs to cut the charge rate down. At 70% the charge rate is down to QC3 18W at about 2400mAh.
2. I tested this in a room at 22°C. Battery temp at 24°C.
After about 10 minutes (20% charged), the Mi 8 is getting too hot with more than 34°C. The charge rate immediatly cuts down to 2700mAh. After a few minutes it cuts down to 2400mAh and we are back to 18W QC3.
I have to admit, I already tried to charge my Mi 8 with a tiny USB Fan cooling the phone while charging at 3200mAh.
Yes, that works, but.... I mean.... Cmon, I am not gonna start building me an aircooled charging station.
Btw: I am on Xiaomi.eu weekly Rom. Not sure about the official Rom, but isn't Xiaomi advertising QC4 for the Mi 8?

With 27 watt adapter , charging speed still suck like 18 watt adapter:3 but device is cooler and it's like no heating at all. That's the only difference.
Well, QC3, QC4+ and USB-PD, they all charge at 9V.
QC4+ and USB-PD are just able to charge with about 30% more amps.
The high temperatures, when charging, results mostly of the transition of the 9V the charger has to send over the USB-Cable, in order to keep the amps low enough in the cable, to a max of 4.4V the battery needs.
This causes the battery to heat up, exactly like high CPU temperatures heat up the battery. Its a small device, thats all.
What I want to say is:
You are wrong. 27W chargers do charge faster, about 30% faster.
You charged from >55% to 100%, of course there is no advantage in comparison to a 18W charger.
You are right. Charging speed still sucks at 27W chargers.
I really appreciate the 27W charging. During the day, when my mi 8 is down to 30%, I can charge it for 10 minutes to get back to 50%. Thats a lot and most of the time it's enough for the rest of the day.
Every night, I charge my mi 8 with a 5V 1A charger. No need for fast charging there.

I came here to say pretty much the same thing, you will only see the benefit if your battery is low. So charging from 20% to 60% will show some increase in charge speed, from the there the heat protection mechanism via the kernel will slow down the charge rate. Its truly not a good idea to charge your phone too fast, as heat will decay the battery much faster.
Although it's nice to have the option if you are in a hurry. My charger is next to a large fan ( works fine, stays cool)
BTW, here is a great informational article concerning prolonging the battery and avoiding heat: https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries

The Mi 9 charges in around 55 minutes from 0% to 100%, the Mi 8 took 55 minutes to get from 55 to 97%.
Just wanting to say that it just isnt as fast as the Mi 9. The 27W charger does charge a bit faster, but only upto around 50%.

0% to 100% in 55 minutes is impressive. Although just from the numbers, with no personal experience, it's hard to believe. This would be a charge rate of at least 4000mA.
Can you do me a favour?
1. Can you try charging your Mi 9 with a QC3 18W charger and tell us how long it takes from 0% to 100%?
2. Can you try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.ampere&hl=en_US

I hope you did not get the feeling that I was assuming that you were lying about the charge time.
Maybe you found out your charge times weren't what you first think there were and that's why you did not answer to this day.
Maybe I was wrong not believing you.
Everybody makes mistakes, it doesn't count who made them. What really counts is to make mistakes in the first place. I don't know any other way to improve.
Long story short: I want to apologize. Please come back and tell us about the charge time of the mi 9 with the mi 8 charger in comparison to the mi 9 charger. That would make this thread complete.
I am really interested if the mi 9 got any advantages in it's charging hardware. I can't find anything about it but it seems that the mi 9 really charges a bit faster than the mi 8. Looks like there are improvements made in the mi 9.

When I charge the ROG Phone II using my Mate 10 Pro, i get a rate of 0.91 amps. When I charge my Mate 10 pro with the ROG Phone II, I get 0.48 amps.
ROG Phone 2 => 0.48 amps => Mate 10 Pro
ROG Phone 2 <= 0.91 amps <= Mate 10 Pro
edit: I should add I took these measurements with an inline external meter.

USB is about 5 volts which makes 0.91 amps about 4.55 watts and 0.48amps about 2.4 watts. You multiply the amps and the volts to get the watts.

Yes Sir!
The Asus 30Watt that comes with the phone is a QC4.0 PD3.0 compatible charger
I think the charging block has to be capable of charging in 200mv increments. If it only does 9v or 12v, we won't get that max charge I think, because to get to 30 watts, the phone needs to draw at 10 volts
The new blocks allow for variable voltage in 200mv increments I think , which the phone needs to pull. But if the block says QC4.0 but only supports 9v or 12v and nothing in between, then it won't work, it looks like
I have spent a lot of time with these charging blocks as you can tell hahaha

I'm not sure, it does not say 10volts. You will be able to see if it says 10 volts or 3 amps because it says that is has a display on it... the description says 9v or 12v, bu it also says automatically adjust current to your phone and that's the way QC4.0 works so hopefully it works!
Let us know!!

So what does that mean? Does that mean the draw from the power block to the phone will be 10 volts at 2.5 amps? Or will it still draw the 30 watts? or Only draw the 30 watts when there is an accessory connected?
Can you elaborate what happens in this case?

It appeared to make a very small improvement. I'd suspect it's mostly down to the efficiency of the newer adapter. In practice the difference between supervooc 50W and 65W seems pretty low (far less than 15W).
Can it be charged with a 5 volt charger?
The phone need to be capable to take 65 Watts. Charger rating only says it is capable of delivering the said charge but if the phone is not rated or designed to take the charge then there is no use. so a 65W charger can be used by a 5W max rated phone and the phone gets charged only at 5W though using a 65W charger

Exactly!!! we need to check if the 2.0-65W charger is charging at 65W or 50W.
This can be done using engineer mode (*#899#), and check if is using 10V5A (50W), or more 65W (13V5A). Taking into account that max power is only used when the battery is near 0%... as it is being charged, 70%, 80% intensity decreases down to 1.2A...
I,ve asked to have a new Youtube video...
Thanks,

Hey guys has anybody tried other xiaomi chargers with their mi 11 ultra?
Chargers like:
Xiaomi 65w Gan charger (USB c Port)
Xiaomi 65 w charger (USB a port)
Xiaomi 55w Charger
How well did these fare compared to the normal one(possibly with a adapter to actually use it)?
I use 65W Gan because i don't have one in the box.
Available in EU version, so it's perfect for me, and it's a small charger.

I use the 65 W Gan charger with USB C port from Xiaomi with my Mi 11Ultra. It supports turbo charging. It takes aprox 45 minutes from 10 - 100 %. I can highly recommend it because it is half of the size of the 67 W charger and almost the same charging speed.

I'm sorry if it sounds silly but did you check with apps like Accubattery how much voltage etc it gives? It should be possible to calculate the watts like that
Hello, i'm using the original 65W xiaomi gan charger Eu version. Model BHR4499GL
I'm very happy with it and accubattery indicates even 10mA charging current, depending on the battery temperature, system load and the charge level of the battery itself.
When the battery is empty ( or bellow 20% or so) it will go to max 10mA from what i've seen and of course drop to around 3-5 mA when it's nearing full capacity.
I never let the battery drop bellow 20% and usually try to unplug the charger until it reaches ~90% but rarely manage to do so because is damn fast .
If i wake up in the morning with around 30-40% charge i plug it in for around 10-15 minutes and it almost reaches 90% maybe even more
I also use a special PD 2.0 usb type C to type C cable from Baesus, model CATKLF-ALG1
"Baseus Type-C Cafule PD2.0 100W flash charging cable (20V 5A) 2m Black (CATKLF-ALG1)"
So it's not only the charger but also the cable that it's important
Take care !
Moreover, the Model BHR4499GL actually supports multiple charging standards than the 67W one that comes in the global unit's box . Plus it's type c so it's easier to find pd charging cables that will work with it
@achimmexico @Jhonxs @sabrewulf I calculated it. The 65w GaN Charger does about 38-39 Watt (i charged from about 10%)
Calculate it yourself if you like.
9810 mA
3.96 volt.
My 11 ultra charges fine with every generic quick charge 3 charger i have but of course better with the 67watt charger that came with it.
Didn't know it got sold without a charger?
I have 65W and 67W charger and there is a difference about 2-3min when charging from 3% until 100%.

This is very strange to hear (read) , as I have a Mi11 Pro and of course use it with the 65W charger, but it takes 55 minutes to go to full. This is extremely frustrating, as 11 Pro should charge in about 36 minutes.

Honestly it always depends on the battery temperatures and all that. Also keep in mind that chargers always have inefficiencies as well. Sometimes the slow charging seems very random. I am using the 67W Charger for instance. Xiaomi's Charging Tech feels either inconsistent or it's just that the battery or charging brick may just are weird with charging them sometimes.

In China they sold it without the charger, but they did give you the option to buy it when you bought your phone and many places now give it as a gift when you buy a new MI 11 Ultra.

Yes you are mostly correct, as I was on a trip for 2 days , charged it there with the SAME charger and it took 34 minutes on the watch to get full. Came back home, 45 minutes.... Very very inconsistent.

Speed differences at two different locations can also point wiring inefficiencies/socket connections in the home. If the charger produced different speeds using same sockets, etc... Then I'm more to say apt to say it's the charger, but with multiple variables...
Helo people can somebody tell me about this problem im facing, i bought 65w mi gan charger for my mi 11 ultra when i put on charging it displays 55w max, why its not showing 65w if anyone knows about it

You need original xiaomi 67w charger and cable to get the Max 67W charging. At first I was getting only Mi Turbo Charge (i bought my Mi 11 ultra used) and after some testing with different cables and chargers I realized that my cable is not original xiaomi cable (maybe it was huawei/honor cable cuz they look almost the same) and I had to buy a new original one. Now I charge at Max 67W speed.
Alright, so 65 one from Xiaomi will not work ?

I don't think you will be able to get 67w charging with a 65w charger. Buy a 67w charger or just use the 65w you have (if the charging speed is OK for you). I decided to buy 67w because it is 3 times faster than Turbo Charge (the difference is huge).
I recently bought an 80w charger (probably a copy). And in ampere app it shows around 2900 mA, I attached a picture. Is this expected amount from from and 80w charger. If not then kindly tell what is expected amount and if there is any harm in continue charging phone with this charger.
To reliably test a charger, dial *#899#, go into manual test, device debugging, then charge test, then super vooc.

Test result= Pass
I forgot to mention, it helps to have your phone down to a 40% or so charge, the charge speed slows down the fuller your battery is.
Bare in mind the temperature will make voltage and allowed amperage vary greatly.
When it hits 38c it'll drop in amps, then it'll drop again at 39 and 40 and so on, meaning that the proposed 5000MAh allowed charge will not happen, I've seen it as low as 1900MAh.
I haven't witnessed the change in voltage but it'd make sense for it to follow suit.
Your charging looks ok in face value.
Can you share your voltage&s

5110MAh
4.096v
That's if it's below 38c
So I tested it at 34° temperature & it didn't went above 3000 mA so probably its charger limitation as its a copy.

Is that American? I dunno. Does it say 80watts on the side of the unit?
Heres mine
If it's a copy and not original then yea I highly doubt it'll do what an original can.
Heres mine.. tends to change with temp , battery level.

I tried another app accu battery in its setting was "dual cell battery mode" I googled and found that oneplus 10 pro uses dual cell so i toggled the option on. Now this is the result I am getting.

Yea so that says 20w my charger is 80w.
There's the difference.
I'm so glad I found this thread. Enabled the setting on Accubattery and my charge speeds jumped. This makes sense because it was reporting very low speed for me, but the percentage was climbing at a quick pace.

This is perfectly fine. You are charging a 5 A battery with 3 A.
Up to 1C, so 5 A is safe. Things like max charging voltage and temp are hardcoded in kernel which you can't simply bypass with a more powerful charger.
PS: the thread title should be edited to: "Charging Current"

In my opinion my charger cant deliver more 2900mA and the avg mA is 2640. In post #13 @dldaz is getting 5821 at 39°C. Which is more then twice. I am looking for a genuine or at least a good quality 80w charger will share current/voltage after results.

According to the specs it should be possible to charge with 5 A as well.
Because your charger have the same specs as the one which is getting over 5 A. But the question is if you both are using the same phone with the same kernel. Or other possible reason is that fast charging is disabled in Android settings.
Usually OEMs don't allow to charge with 1C. But you can get 1C with a custom kernel, if it has support for charger control.
