HengChen 7 in Chinese head unit Android 5.1, 1gb DDR3, Cortex-A7 MTCD? or MTCB?

Hi,
I bought a hengchen head unit from taobao.com, and i have a hard time using the stock android. i wish to upgrade it to Malaysk, however i do not know whether it is MTBC or MTBD or whatever version. Kindly help!

Definately won't be compatible with Malaysk as it's not a MTCB or MTCC unit.
I can give you some tips if you'd like to cook your own ROM though...
Backup your ROM with http://freaktab.com/forum/developme...p-your-rk-device-rom-with-the-new-rk-2-1-tool
Then cook your own ROM using http://freaktab.com/forum/developme...7812-900supersport-s-guide-to-working-rk-roms
There's more to it but without having done it myself (I will this weekend!) I can't provide any more useful information :crying:

If it is not compatible with Malaysk, what other ROMs available out there can i use? Which roms are the more popolar ones that is compatible with my HU? Good luck cooking your ROM ^^

ROMs are device specific because of different MCUs and apps and frameworks to control them.
If there is no ROM available for your device (hint: try searching partial and full versions of your MCU version: I.e. mine contains SLX7786-GEN, so I'd search for MCU SLX7786) then you will have to cook your own.

Hi all
I can indeed confirm this is the version to manually install if you are on Tencent device with CN finger print.
Much of the Chinese gunk is now gone too....

How... Ive been trying and it just fails to update.

Download to root folder and restart phone when check for update... That's all I did

Tried but it just fails when i click on the notification

Have you previously had a custom rom and then reverted back or is the phone stock.
My CN version is the Tencent one, which is using the official CN software (Obiwan) and it's number matches the number for the software posted.
If you are the same then I'm not sure why it's not working, hopefully someone on here can help.

you have the same issue like mine, my phone also is a tencent that has WW software, so all updates are manual, you need to download the latest update per build number, have done around 3 updates to reach android 11, and so on for 12

can you explain more any build you mean ? cuz I have the same room number and I never update it for 2 years

Any news about this? I have same build number and same problem. Tecent games on the back of the phone but ww software. Still not able to update after 2 years.

Nope, EU versions have google dialer/google.messaging app and different bloatware than Asia versions with Oppo.dialer and Oppo messaging app. I have global version but from Asia so beta version is available for me in Trial version menu.

Yes, Europe is in the 2nd wave of upgrades for ColorOS 12. I don't know the exact reason, but likely to be due to different software elements / eSIM support etc. There is no beta for European devices yet.

I have the chinese version, my status is the one ate the pic. Can I go from there to android 12?

I have Checked my "redmi note 10s" with AID64(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.finalwire.aida64)
The board name appeared is "secret" but google search shows me I should have the board name as "rosemary"
Are those same or different?

Rosemary, Secret and Maltose all are SAME.
Rosemary is the device with NFC,
Secret is the device without NFC.
Maltose is for China Market.

I bought mine in LatinAmerica (Chile), and it turned out to be a maltose. I bought it through a mobile operator, so it is officially intended for this market. It's non-NFC as well.
BTW, the model in my case is listed as M2101K7BL (final 'L' instead of 'I')
Besides, it appears to me that the Note 10s has never been released in the China market, there is no Chinese ROM whatsoever (and that's why we don't have a xiaomi.eu ROM, if I'm not wrong)

Is there any rooting/modding/flashing method for secret?

Look, Rosemary and Secret are just as written above. Normally Xiaomi uses the same name, but for some reason they changed the board name this time. Just no NFC. I also use Secret and you just need to root it with classic Magisk.

Would u plz guide me as i can't manage to have twrp for this hence no root option is in my mind.

from what I've gathered yes you can you will just not have NFC functionality, but you don't have NFC anyway so no loss there.

Guys, I know that I'm not the first nor the last to ask you this. But do you know if will be officially deployed via OTA to Mi 9T Pro?

It looks like our phone isn't supported by xiaomi right now. So we will not get any updates anymore.

funny thing is that on official forum they told me that there is not a denial about 12.5+ for Mi 9T Pro

As I found on the one of the forums, They released MIUI12.5 enhanced for our smartphone, but ONLY in China.

I have no words really

Our Mi 9T Pro will do be updated to 12.5+ because is eligible to MIUI 13 according with this official list that is being shared in official Xiaomi telegram group:

I've seen that same/similar list back in Nov or Dec (and posted it somewhere here to XDA) but in these six months did not see any move towards (and Xiaomi.eu, that releases beta versions of Xiaomi's firmwares does not have any phone whose name starts with "Mi 9" in their MIUI 13 programme)
And btw, I recently saw another list, stating the batch of phones to obtain MIUI 13 in the sec. part of 2022, and your Renoir was not listed (neither my Davinci)
Frankly, I don't expect MIUI 13 (based on A11) for those old phones. I still have my Mi 9T but no more as a daily driver
