Hello Dear Experts,
I got my phone the other day, super happy with it , But little problems. I had to go with my Chinese sellers Custom ROM as she convinced me that the phone will not support bands in Dubai, UAE, though i insisted on the Official Xiaomi ROM. Please help me with the below problems
1. My PRO model no is 2015501, It is not supporting the LTE and 3g bands in UAE and many other countries. ( I Checked with willmyphonework.net, but other PRO models support ), But upon installing the Sellers Custom ROM ,The bands are working and i am able to use 4G, So guess its not an Antenna problem. So can i still install an Official ROM and use the phone in my area with the band issues. ??
2.. My current ROM is not letting me log in to MI acc from phone add account area, totally a Restricted System . Is the custom ROM the Villan here ( MIUI 7.7 - STABLE - LXHCNCI is my current ROM)
3. Cannot Download any themes , and MIUI Cleaner app and many other apps missing, and third party stuff inn. Guess the official ROM is the solution,Bootloader Unlocked as per the Seller. Can i install an Official ROM, link to download it??
4. AnTu Tu benchmark score is 48,840 Which is considerably lower, verified the phone with MI Verified app, looks OK, But why is the Score so low??
Appreciate the Advice on these.

same as official but with multilang
there are no stable Miui 7.7 the latest stable is for Note pro (leo) is 7.2.4 LXKCNDA
I bought this Redmi 4X yesterday, it asked for update and I did it. I'd like more of a stock andro experience but I'm not yet sure if I won't lose some camera capabilities (I never had a smartphone with camera that makes people look better before). So I read that Xiaomi gives different MIUI versions to download and supports this fully. But then I learn that "older" version of MIUI that I have (MIUI 7 vs MIUI 8 I have) has newer android 7 compared to my android 6. Why is that?
Is there any consensus on least bloatware on Redmis? Also, is MIUI the same as rom, or it's just an addon installed on top of AOSP? Sorry for asking such questions, but in my case I always understand things after I already have flashed some roms, but don't have any backup phone in case I brick my phone.
Current stats:
6.0.1 MMb29M android
MIUI global 8.5 Stable
8.5.2.0 (Mammied)
Hi
Sorry but did you buy a xiaomi smartphone without take any information about it ??
1st question : will you try to root & install custom firmware ?
If answer is yes, you should first use method to unlock the bootloader.
After that, everything will be so easy !
So I have bought a Mi 9T Pro Global ROM version and I am a bit lost on the whole official ROM versions
My current understanding of the ROMs:
Chinese version - Stock from Xiaomi, has an English mode but also has ads
Global version - ???
EU version - Custom ROM but aims to be as close to stock but without bloat and for EU userbase
EEA version - ???
Russian version - ???
India version - ???
Could anyone help me understand just what all this means and what I should ideally aim to stick with as someone living in the UK and wanting the best experience possible (No ads)

All the same structure same base miui thing just little differences
as i know china come with call recorder w/o NFC
Eu come without call recorder but with NFC
Rest i didnt test yet but i guess with some with some without
xiaomi.eu roms work in Europe and the US, as a replacement for global roms with more features (See some here https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/9-11-14.53327/)
xiaomi.eu roms also come with TWRP pre-installed and OTA updates
Chinese ROMs come with features like call recording that may not be entirely legal in other countries, as well as ads, tracking, and a few other things
Chinese and Indian ROMs typically come on the k20 pro, which lacks the bands that the mi 9t pro has (notably bands 4 for US and 20 for EU)
EEA Rom is the stock rom for Europe, while EU rom is the xiaomi.eu modified ROM for Europe (and Global)
Global ROM is the stock for international, but xiaomi.eu ROMs work perfectly on Global as well (See https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/bt6z7b/miui_global_rom_vs_eea_rom/)
Russian runs Global but with modifications for GPS, Privacy, and Language
Living in the UK, I'd suggest using a stable Xiaomi.eu rom with Magisk, which will give you root, no bloatware and ads, optimised GPS and battery, and OTA stable updates. I'm rather new as well so check this out for info on it, it could help! (https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/help/twrp-procedure-check-t4004531)
While all of the roms run MIUI, their stability, update frequency, bloatware, bands, and language can differ slightly.

Thanks for the knowledge! Been interesting learning about them all. What I will most likely do once my device arrives is to wait for the bootloader unlock and test the EEA and if I dislike it, jump to xiaomi.eu

Good plan! Personally reason why I'm jumping straight to xiaomi.eu:
I don't think I'll DISLIKE Global, necessarily
But xiaomi.eu comes with TWRP preinstalled and root, and maintains Magisk even through OTA updates (Global/EEA removes TWRP and Magisk each time you update)
Just figured I'd share
If it's not Chinese MIUI, then Xiaomi label it as Global MIUI, as they all come with a full set of global language options.
Each version is then slightly modified for the region it is intended for. For EEA and Russia, I believe the modifications are more around complying with regulations, such as data protection, etc., rather than functional changes. For India, for this phone at least, the have replaced the stock launcher with the Poco Launcher, which has an app drawer (not sure if this is still true with MIUI 11), I guess this was in response to the popularity of the Poco F1 in India and the fact that this phone could be considered its successor there.
Xiaomi.eu are a collection of independent, volunteer developers, who make custom versions of MIUI. They've been around almost as long as Xiaomi themselves, from the days when MIUI was itself only a custom ROM, which only came in a Chinese version. The original aim was to add additional language translations. Now they add a full set of global languages, remove all ads, bloatware and non-essential apps, and add their own tweaks and customisations.
When it comes to EU, things get confusing. When it comes to naming MIUI versions, Xiaomi use 2 letter codes to distinguish the regions and use EU for Europe. Therefore you'll see people interchangeably use EU and EEA when talking about official European MIUI, this unfortunately leads to confusion as to whether people are referring to official MIUI or the unofficial xiaomi.eu ROMs

Very informative! Thank you!
sorry for the noob post, this is my 1st xiaomi phone
ey guys, just bought this phone a few days back and im waiting for my ubl counter for 3 more days. im not new to phones in general. i used to have a sam gal s2 and s5, and the devs there always recommended the latest released official stock base before using roms.
my question is
currently, i bought this phone as global stable 11.0.5.0 indonesian pcn_ID_xm and updated to 11.0.7.0. i want to change base stock to pcn_CN_xm (fewer bloat and stuff). or is there a better option/opinion?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-8/how-to/rom-miui-11-xiaomi-eu-t4006247
i just want to have a safe backup in case i need the base firmware before trying to install mods, like odin.
I can't understand you bro. Are you saying that: "How can I change the version of my phone?"
https://mifirm.net/model/olive.ttt
is the site legit? official stock firmwares being able to install by settings - about phone - system update - selecting the zip from the menu without unlocking the bootloader?
i guess "region" would be the better word. currently its a global stable "indonesian region", but im tempted to switch to a global stable "eu region". is there anything important to know when switching official regions?
firest your phone will be out of warranty
see this guide
https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
yep already got all those, but what im asking for is on older phones with full system root (not magisk systemless root), later firmwares from late countries usually have better performance.
is that still true with current a/b partitions?

Now the moderator has re-opened this thread we can go on discussing the 12 Pro EEA.
I managed to flash the full EEA Stable beta V13.0.17.0 SLBEUXM recovery rom by just using the option to update by choosing the update file I downloaded seperatly.
Android Security-update date is now 2022-05-01.
Looks everything is fine, it is rooted again and I am using Swift Backup (paid) instead of Titanium Backup since the latter one is not updated anymore since 2019 and it seems it won't be updated anymore.
Swift has a different modern layout and you can make the backup simultaniously or seperate to the device and/or cloud.
For now it works very well.
Also I use Callrecorder from Skavalex since the EEA rom does not support call-recording by itself.
Another thing is that there is atm no custom recovery that works with the 12 Pro or even Android 12 in general.
Since yesterday there is a new update for the Global EEA version.
The date of the security patch is still 1st of May so it is not clear what the changes are.
Will try to find out and post it here when available.

Anyone know what the differences are between the global rom vs. EEA global rom, the global hasn't gotten an update since April so thinking of switching to EEA... in Canada not Europe.... thanks

just RGPD.
Better than stock rom https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-13-stable-release.64441/
Well the EEA Global version differs due to the EU Privacy laws so no ads when you during the first setup of the device choose not to allow ads and afterwards you can still switch them off..
Further there is much less bloatware and the few apps that are defined as bloatware you can uninstall easily with ADB or with the XiaomiAdbflash tool.
There is no need for a custom rom like the xiaomi.eu rom because when you are unlocked it is quite easy to remove 99% of the apps you don't like but you can still get the monthly updates from Xiaomi themselves so no issues with camera and other kind of stuff compared with a custom rom.
Nowadays there is no real need for a custom rom because you can make the factory rom as clean as you want by yourself and eventually use apps like Blokada.

Try a Eu rom first then post your review.
Tried it on 2 previous Xiaomi phones and I stand with my opinion.
Been in the custom rom development since 2006 so I know what I am talking about.

And the call recorder, the complete themes + aod, the optimizations, a Chinese base etc...
BTW:the Xiaomi eu roms started in 2010.
Chinese MIUI has seemingly improved a lot, and seemed like most of the bloatware was removable when I was trying it. However MIUI and Xiaomi.eu still have that highly suspicious and deeply integrated "Security" app which I would prefer not to have at all. (Have not tried Global or EEA). (Additionally the xiaomi.eu "devs" (maybe not all, but seemingly the majority of them) have serious attitude issues which do not inspire any trust, and a lot of base apps in .EU still want unnecessary permissions and internet connections).
Would love to see Lineage for this phone, even if it means losing the MIUI camera - a choice of ROMs, especially very clean / basic ones, is not a bad thing
Xiaomi is a Chinese brand, EEA, Global, etc. roms are based on Chinese roms and adapted to countries according to the version.
Xiaomi Eu roms are custom roms based on the version of the phone on Chinese or global roms.
For those based on Chinese you will have features or options before xiaomi releases an update.
For example: the video for the calls does not exist on the stock roms except the Chinese ones.
It is a bit of a stretch to call the xiaomi.eu roms "custom" roms, and somewhat of an insult to true custom rom developers who develop the rom in the entirety. .eu roms are mildly modified Chinese MIUI ROMs and over the years there seems to be less and less modifications (at least in the phones I've tried them on). They are certainly useful for phones that are not officially launched globally and full google services is desired, without Chinese specific apps, but where official global or eea roms exist it may be better to go for the official EEA ROM (privacy wise, as another poster indicated) which would have everything necessary without all the telemetry, or alternatively full custom like Arrow / Lineage / Omni / Pixel Experience.
It is quite subjective though and if you prefer Chinese official or .eu ROM's and they do everything you want, then great. If they removed the Security thing & telemetry, or allowed the user to deny permissions while still being able to use certain apps, I would actually rate the Chinese ROM very highly. Right now I am undecided what is best, but hoping for Lineage in the near future.

Call Recorder worked already on rooted stok rom with Skavalex Call Recorder which I use for many years now even way before Xiaomi came into the play arena of phones.
Not having the Chinese base is a big plus and all the optimizations you can do yourself and stock Camera is better than Gcam.

We are talking about Xiaomi eu ROMs that do not need root to have the call recorder.
And it's not Skavalex but Skvalex who It's not free.
"Not having the Chinese base is a big plus and all the optimizations you can do yourself"
Which?
I am talking about official Global EEA and the latter one is point of discussion in this thread and not any other rom.
Optimizations like getting rid of all the apps you do not like, get rid of the few (Xiaomi) apps that eventually will "call home" when you not want it, when not selected at 1st setup that you allow no ads you will get no ads.
When unlocked and rooted I can do with it as much as with any other custom rom but keep the monthly official updates.
So no need for custom rom's and yes it is Skvalex and I have a paid version for it (few bucks) many years ago and he still maintains the app.
