Hi guys, I installed ThundeRStormS kernel on my S10, and I was wondering since the battery drops very quickly, always less than before fortunately (without a custom kernel it was even worse) is there any Rom or Kernel that reduce even more the battery drain?
Thanks in advance
Been using thunderstorms kernel for the past 3 months alongside beyondrom and i must say that my idle battery increased significantly. However upon gaming the difference on battery life while using stock rom, beyondrom and LOS is small. But beyond+TS kernel removed the heating issue that my s10 exynos used to have, no more throttling. You could try Batterxynos or betterxynos kernel (can't remember which is correct) and see if it makes a difference vs TS kernel. Also, if you come from a fresh install OS, give the device a couple of days to adjust to your usage, and it shall automatically detect your usage pattern therefore giving you more juice when you need it

Do note that by using custom roms you cannot use some samsung apps. However, on beyondrom i can confirm that by flashing multidisabler and hiding magisk you can use Securefolder. Not samsung pay though and samsung pass. On the otherhand, goodluck!

Hi,
something great happened to me.
Every CM7 and MIUI Rom i flashed had average to terrible battery life.
I tried every kernel available, but i couldn't improve it. Lasts about 1 day max.
Now i installed MIUI 1.4.8 and redstars kernel 2.8.38-2! And my battery-life was doubled by that.
What causes the extension of batterylife? The drivers? Is this device specific? Others report having great battery-life with wildnmonks kernel, but i did not try the latest one?
What exactly has been improved or updated that we got such a big improvement?

Hello Kabayan!
Loving it so far, great upgrade from the S7. That being said, the battery on my S7 is slightly better, probably due to the smaller display.
Running well on SoldierROM 2.1 + Xposed and Magisk.
Install Naptime + Greenify = Better battery life

From s7 to s9 is really a great upgrade, but I came from s5 and it's totally a big jump. Though, battery is almost the same with s5 (when I first got it). Camera is incredible, but when HDR is a little bit tricky, I am using the GCam port to use the HDR+ function and the photos definitely blows me away. One thing worth mentioning is the new stereo speakers with dolby atmos support! These are incredible, and now I've got to rewatch all the marvel movies so that to enjoy truly the experience with speakers. So far so good, but I don't look on rooting my phone atleast when samsung still supports this phone for software updates
@kyooo totally agree with you bro , me also im kinda craving to root this device but i think its better not to due to security patches and samsung experience update , im kinda bored on android stock i think samsung ui is improving

Yep that's what I exactly thought of. I hope though that Samsung would fix battery drain in the exynos models, it sucks hard. I would get around 4hrs of SOT with heavy usage at WQHD+ and around 6hrs of SOT with social media apps only in power saving mode with only speed limiter on. But I dont want to use the power saving feature unless Im going on a full day without charge.
I think samsung will release a patch on drain , some says it something to do with poor cpu governor , if its only a software issue i believe samsung will fix this on their next update btw i got 6-8 hours sot with aod turned off and fhd+ turned on ive also set location to battery saving not precise location ,

Yeep it's actually the governor, the person behind anandtech's website made a kernel which tuned down a little of the cpu power according to use and it turned out really well when it comes to battery life.
8 hrs is impossible to me, I only got 6hrs max with power saving mode on. Is that an s9+?
Hello, have you guys received the BRE5 update yet?
So, I still have 4 more days of waiting to be able to unlock my kernel and start this custom ROMs journey.
Has anyone use LKT in the Mi9 already? What do you think about it, did it create noticeable lags, did it increase your battery life drastically?
FDE.AI.... LKT.
All placebo.... IMO

Well FDE.AI actually helped with the usage and performance of an old Redmi 3S, and I sense a little bit less battery consumption using LKT on battery mode on my MI9, specially on wakelocks so.. Who knows?
I've try FDE and my antutu score has been increased to 410k (antutu doesn't really mater)
In real usage SOT is slightly better but i don't know if it's FDE or the new update which increase it.
Hello, I have not been on this site in YEARS!! Much love and respect community. I just got my first ever Asus Rogue 2 and it is a WW model.
Is it as easy as downloading a rom, zip file, reboot? Does the majority recommend the android 10 rom.... or please, if their is someone that done a lot of work and they have a killer rom.... please. save me some time.
I wanna get a new fresh vibe on the device. Thanks in advance

As of now, A10 latest is 2004.60 for WW.
Stock Android 9 on this device has the best battery and least temperatures. You can get 15-20 hours SOT (at 60hz) depending upon your usage. Is also really stable. Games work perfectly on A9. This is the best ROM for endurance and gaming on this phone.
Stock A10 has kinda worse battery and heats up more. SOT is like 11-15 hours (60hz) depending upon usage. Games are slightly less optimised, but nonetheless you get all the features this device provides.
Coming to custom ROMs, Omni ROM (A10) has excellent battery life. Almost as good as A9. Excellent stable UI. But you loose air triggers, and it isn't good for gaming.
HavocOS has battery life similar to Stock A10, and has the best aesthetics. More customisation than Omni. Again, no air triggers and not so good for gaming.
Choice is upto you.
It is recommended to stay at a9 i have tested all android 10 and a9 is much more better a10 sucks for this phone unfortunately.
On A10 I'm taking like 10-15% less battery than A9, winning some different things like Quickswitch (if you are rooted) and the traditional patches and features, so I'm staying in A10. But A9 is a bit better in battery, yep.
Just to add my two cents to confuse the OP even more over which rom version to use...
I'm also on A10 latest 2004.60 and don't have any heating issues, never have A9 or 10. I don't really monitor battery much at all but there's not much difference between A9 and latest 10 with my usage. With a battery this big it isn't a concern of mine. With my average usage lasting 2 days (I mainly only play Bike Race for games).
So yeah, I'm happy to stay on A10.
It's probably also worth noting (although I've not tried any custom rom on this device, so you'll need to check), if you are gonna use Havoc or Omni, you will need to have latest stock build flashed before flashing those roms.
Let us know what you decide... Good luck

I am high darn, so.... I have no problem trying things... and I expect the usual bumps..... but if it changes or ruins the experience, why would I do this?
That being said, how do I get stock 10 on my device then boys?? thanks again

Thinking exactly the same right here. Small differences between both just to downgrade. For me, as I said, 10-15%. If I want that % loosing the smoothness of A10 with Quickswitch, I will return to A9 some day

Yeah. But for me I got like 50% more battery on A9 than A10 stock. A simple comparison with other phones suggests only A9 truely gives you 6000mah feel. A10 is more like 4000mah phones. I did quite a lot of testing too.
I installed the PixelExp+ Rom on my friends OP5. was good and smooth but the battery life was utter garbage (if u have AOD on, u cannot maintain batt life).
i tried installing the lazy kernel ( post here ). No improvement in performance or in battery life.
So moved back to PixelExp kernel.
Flashed Stormbreaker kernel (from here).
->Booted fine
->WiFi and Audio works fine
->Will update on batt usage/drainage
Note:
-Stormbreaker kernel, from what i understood, is unified for both OP5 and 5T.(Please do check before)
-All credits to where its due. None of these files are mine. I'm only trying to improve batt life for day-to-day usage and updating here for easier finding on what worked.

Update:
Thoughts after almost a day.
->better batt usage and life overall (non-gaming)
->still smooth experience
->previously lost almost 40% charge overnight while doing nothing. Now only 3% was lost with Spotify running.
why I can't use mobile data next day after flashing this kernel
