Judging by the numerous complaints of issues with the new A10 updates, it looks like OneUI with Android 10 is NOT ready to replace Android9, yet it's rolling out as OTA upgrades. I predict it won't be long before people regret this new update and want to roll back to A9. I have a U1 variant and haven't gotten a prompt to update yet. It seem like a good time to fire up adb and disable the packages that are responsible for updates.
Anybody love the new OneUI w/A10 they got on their N9 via OTA? What's good about it?
I haven't had any issues and know a few others that haven't as well, but we are a small amoint of people, so yeah.
I really don't feel a difference between Android 9 and 10 with the exception of how dark mode is implemented now. That's honestly it for me. Battery life for me on the Note 8 and 9 have always been meh, but so has every other phone for me with the small exception of the Xperia Z Ultra and LG Optimus something big. Whatever the big one was.

I went back to Android 9 a couple days ago. To me, and this is just my opinion, 10 feels like 9 to me. And the sad thing is Samsung considers this a major update so that means the 9 will not see anymore other then security patches.

Google did state that Android 10 would be a significant improvement over Android Pie. Whether that is the case or not we have yet to be certain. But it is safe to say that Android Pie for the Note 9 will not be receiving any security patches now. As Samsung will only be releasing patches for Android 10 for the Note 9 from now on.
That is what I meant. 10 patches not Pie

On 10 and loving it. Miss a few good lock options. Battery life has been great while gaming compared to 9. I read a lot of posts here and have not run across any issues yet.
This is what I am waiting for, more news of good or bad experiences with A10. I am very happy on A9 (I have U1 variant) and I dont want to click update yet because I like it how it is. I hate that they stop security patches tho. Dark mode means squat, I have themes that work for that. I also use good lock features alot. I guess I will keep postponing the update till I see more threads about it. The silence is weird, normally there are pages of complaints after a new version comes out.

Iv been on 10 for awhile now, and i have noticed its a little sluggish. Flashed in odin, then i performed a factory reset and it is still sluggish. Hoping for an update soon
Yeah, comparing A10 to A9 (stock) is a different comparison than OneUI A10 to OneUI A9 (Samsung's) ... and that is because one of the major differences with stock Android is that A10 finally integrated dark mode.... But Samsung did that with OneUI on A9, sooo... I have OneUI with Android 9, everything is dark, it all looks good, and I like it. Also, nothing seems buggy.
It doesn't look like there is any reason at all to upgrade to OneUI w/A10, unless I like to take my chances and see if Samsung bugged up a rushed release.
I actually really, really, hate white apps. So if OneUI with A10 integrates dark mode into apps much better than it does with A9, then I would consider the upgrade, for Google apps like gmail, maps, docs, etc.
Good points from all. It's not that Android 10 is bad, it just doesnt seem much different then Android 9. For me the gestures were horrible. I'm sure peeps like them but just not for me.

Android 10 OTA has been great for me - getting better battery life and everything smooth and fluid. No problems whatsoever, and I just did the upgrade OTA, no clean wipe or anything like that (thankfully). Did use Galaxy Labs App Optimiser and I do believe apps open noticeably faster afterwards.
P.S. Still using navigation gestures as I was on 9 and notice little difference.
How are the gestures in 10 different from 9?
I have no buttons on my screen. Bottom right corner swipe up goes back to previous screen. Bottom middle swipe up goes to home screen. Bottom left swipe up shows all running apps.
Is OneUI/A10 different than that?
Someone can tell me how is the volume on Android 10 compared to Android 9? Is it louder or similar?

i think you are using 3rd party launchers? because the new full gestures can only be used on samaung one ui launcher
I am in San Francisco, with unlocked US Note 9, and have not received A10 update.
Has anyone on here in the bay area received it?
If needed, point me to another thread for this question.

Stock full screen gestures (no buttons showing) in settings > display > navigation bar. This is built into OneUI/A9

so you mean to say you dont have the new full screen gestures of android 10?
bdw your fullscreen really shows fullscreen apps?
I've had A10 for a few days now, and besides one small glitch (commas and periods are doubled when I press the icons, and sometimes the space doubles also using the space bar), I've had no issues with it.

I mean to say that I am running stock A9/OneUI with fullscreen gestures built into the OS (not from a third-party app), and from what people are describing about the fullscreen gestures in A10/OneUI, they are not any different. And yes, my fullscreen really shows fullscreen apps--no software buttons.
Ive found that A10 and UI2, cannot handle gestures and fullscreen mode any where near as well as A9 UI1.
Ive tried A10 twice now and both times, from a full wipe, the fullscreen/immersive mode messes up the A10 gestures. Whereas A9 can run fullscreen (no buttons, no taskbar, full immersive for all apps) and use gestures without any issue, and with just one swipe.
You try using proper fullscreen/immersive on A10 with gestures, and it takes two swipes to do anything, and Edge Panel Apps just gets ruined, as you cannot swipe open any more. There must be some conflict in Fullscreen/Immersive mode.
I use bxactions to toggle Fullscreen/Immersive from the Bixby button.
Of the five phones I've owned recently with rear fingerprint sensors (Honor 7X, Honor 8X, Samsung S9, Google Pixel 3a, Redmi Note 7), the only one which doesn't natively support fingerprint gestures is the Redmi Note 7.
Therefore, I can't swipe down or up on the fingerprint sensor on the Redmi Note 7 to expand or collapse the notification shade the way I can on the other phones. This is a major annoyance for me since I use the notification shade often when I'm using a phone one-handed, and the rear fingerprint sensor is so convenient for this purpose.
So I tried about a dozen different apps on the Play Store until I found one that did exactly what I wanted, and it's free. It's called Keyboard/Button Mapper.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.github.sds100.keymapper
It's not so easy to figure out at first, so I can post instructions if anyone needs help. In summary, however, you would create two new keymaps with the following mappings:
Trigger: <swipe down>
Action: Expand Notification Drawer
Trigger: <swipe up>
Action: Collapse Status Bar
With this one fix, the Redmi Note 7 can be just as convenient to use one-handed as any other modern phone. Enjoy.

Hi Alifirdaus. I'm sorry to hear that it's not working for you. Please list the steps you took so that I might help you. Thanks.
I have enabled all app requests (fixes) including root permission but the app does not recognize the fingerprint actions.
Mine doesnt work either... i just updated to MIUI 12... I'm not rooted. does this require root? thanks!
Gosh I've been looking for an app like this for so looooooong !! Thanks !! Working on my pocophone x3 Surya running arrow os android 11
Unfortunately I'm getting this on my Poco X3 NFC with custom rom. Any other solutions? Xposed edge pro doesn't recognize the fingerprint sensor.
I've purchased my S21 Ultra (SM-G998B/DS) 2 days ago but I am facing frequent occurences of rejected touchscreen registering input, especially with the lower half of the screen. I am on the latest One UI 3.1/February 1,2021 security patch.
More info:
a) I am using Nova launcher, with the Samsung Swipe gestures enabled. I've increased /decreased the Gesture Sensitivity with no improvement.
b) I've removed the factory applied screen protector. No improvement
c) Accidental Touch Protection is enabled.
d) Touch Sensitivity option (Under Options/Display) is enabled). Disabling offers no improvement.

Yes but at a smaller degree.
Problem seems to disappear once I switch to the Buttons navigation bar.
Hello everybody.
I noticed there are some issues trying to use third party launchers such as NOVA or SmartLauncher.
Or, at least, that's what happens to me with the One UI 3.1.
I've been using NOVA since my first NEXUS and since then, moving to S7 up to the Note 10, even after choosing to be part of the Beta Testing Program, I've never had problems.
Now there are some laggy and crash issues. With both of the launchers aforementioned.
I don't know if this is due to the choice of using gestures instead on the buttons in the navigation bar (it doesn't look like, considering I tried to change) but it causes strange "movements" everytime I go back home: like the launcher restarts itself, if you know what I mean.
That never happened on my last device (the Note 10) with One UI 2.5: that's the reason why I'm seriously thinking it could be a problem of compatibility with the latest stock UI version.
Anybody with the same problem? Same issues? Or this "monster" behaves like it should?
Thank you
Best
IMPORTANT EDIT: I tried again and yes, it is gesture related. Deactivating the gesture navigation bar, everything went back to normal.
Yup, same issue. Flashes white after the next immediate touch action, blocking whatever that action was. Doesn't affect the stock launcher. I reported it to Samsung through their members app. Had to switch off of gesture navigation because of it. Dunno if the other gesture navigation is broken but I'm on buttons again.
I'm using good lock one hand operation + and FNG to compensate so left and right are still back. Swipe up is home and swipe up hold is recents.
Well the issue is with Google's gesture implementation. I am facing the issue with gestures too and contacted Nova launcher support and they have blamed google for it.
Its true, disabling gestures, everything works fine. I hope someone will find a solution to this.
I used Microsoft launcher and it seems fine.

Maybe it's only affecting launchers with the Google feed
I'm running a 10+ on Pie. The native launcher is fast and very stable.
I played around with Nova and a few others including Hyperion launcher. The latter boot looped my stock 10+ twice, back to back.
2 factory resets latter I was fuming. That was the first app to ever boot loop any of my Androids in 6 years. The developer had nothing to say. REALLY? F$$$ that!
Launchers have a very real potential to cause a boot loop. Take any instability seriously; there should be none.
The stock launcher uses less battery.
Because of all the Samsung built in customization plus Galaxy Store plugins and the Good Lock family of apps, the stock launcher is better than even Nova. Easier to use and more stable.
I stopped wasting my time sampling launchers. My last reload was almost a year ago; it remains fast, very stable with low battery usage. It looks and runs great... what's not to like?

Hi.
I must say that you're right: latest UI version in very fast and stable. All the possibilities you can add with GOOD LOCK are definitely a serious improvement. There is a "missing" feature, though: those damn' icons.
I really don't understand why we must be forced to use those ugly ones on the Galaxy Store and why they decided not to allow us to change at least the shape (with the UI 3.1), as this is a stock functionality.
Let's see what will happen in the future.

I've been using Apex Launcher Classic for years without issue and icon packs to customize (Desaturate pack is current favorite)
Works just fine with UI 3.1
I don't use the Gesture mode

I agree to an extent, but the current version on One Ui Home has a number of issues as well;
Freezing whenever you long press on the home screen, so you can't add widgets
Task changer keeps resetting
Why oh why won't they give us vertical scrolling in the apps menu
I distinctly remember there being similar issues with my s10+ at launch, so hopefully be fixed in the future

The last point is true however the first two aren't for me. No issues with widgets or Task changer.
The white icon label lettering irritates me though but it's not not all the trouble comes with 3rd party launchers.

Not so with the 3.0 version?

Sure. Full of crappy icons and comic-sans-like fonts... Not considering that those on the Galaxy Store only change the stock icons and a few more.
The reign of inconsistency.
Believe me, I would be happy just having the possibility to choose the shape, as every other manufacturer on the planet allows.

Shape? Round, square... -far- less worse than Google or Apple designs
It's a pain sorting through them but there are good ones in there that most will like... for free.
If you're willing to take the performance and stability hit to have the "shape" well every rose has it's thorns.

Me too! No problems until now!
I have been using nova launcher on my s21 ultra, since i got the phone ( with no gestures, only buttons ).
And i thought i was having a nice experience.
A few days ago i messed up my phone, debloated the wrong apps and had to factory reset. Since i was going with a fresh install i decided to use OneUI + some goodlock modules.
Boy.. i was wrong about the nova experience. Now i know how fluid and responsive the phone is supposed to be.
Anyway, apart from that, this is the official info from NOVA:
Google has made it very clear that they have no plans to completely fix gesture-related issues any time in the near or even distant future.
Please take note that Google admits to this being broken on their end of things and that a fix will be coming in a future update to Android (stated March 2019).
However, it's now well over a year later and there are still many issues with full system gestures and 3rd party launchers on both Android 10 and Android 11. These issues will remain for the foreseeable future as Google have now made it clear that they have no plans to completely fix their full system gestures.
Notable issues with gestures on third party launchers include:
• Close all/Clear app button not appearing(scroll all the way to verify it's not there)
• Not being able to tap icons for a short time after returning to the home screen
• Animations not being as fluid as expected
Please understand, there is absolutely NOTHING WE CAN DO TO FIX OR CHANGE THIS IN ANY WAY! Contact Google or your device OEM directly with these issues as we have absolutely no control over it whatsoever.

Install Hexed from the Play Store. Personalize a theme and in preferences check Navigation Bar Height and set it to 0. In regular Android settings make sure it's set to use the NavBar buttons and not the gestures. Install any third party gestures app that you like. Set up your third party gestures app then restart the phone. Then you'll have fully working third party gestures and everything will work like it used to. This is the only way I have found that fully fixes the gesture issues.
Just upgraded to the beta Origin OS Ocean on my Vivo X60 Pro+, loving the new OS, haven't had chance to fully go through everything, the New Camera App seems easier to use, although no new functionality. I like the new dialler as well. Has anyone else upgraded and what do they like or dislike?
It's superb, the only annoying thing is the home screen swipe up function to call the widgets / kits screen. I'm using a few scrollable widgets which sometimes doesn't work correctly, instead the white widget screen appears when swipe up. Since I didn't find any external app I guess this is integrated into the launcher now. I replaced the launcher because of this
I like the new camera app because the up-down swipe now controll the exposure and the left-right swipe can in- or decrease color strength.
Which version are you using? I have version PD2056D_A_5.5.5
I thought it was the global version, but there's a lot in Chinese which is bothering me for not understanding. It's still android 11, will the android 12 version come soon and maybe fix this version that says global but isn't?
There are some reports on pda.ru that camera performance has got worse. Do you experience something like that?
Other than that do you face any problems?

I'm waiting for the ocean OS android 12 Rom. Who knows it may come as a global version, but I think it took a while for Ocean to come out with android 12, at least I didn't receive it
