Hi,
Hope someone can help me. I recently bought a new M31 phone. When I started it up I noticed that it was from Vietnam (I am in the UK). After going through the setup procedures I saw that there is no NFC enabled on this device? Is this correct?
Done a bit of digging and found that this might be the case as they don't have NFC in Vietnam (maybe, don't know?). Anyway, I have re-configured the firmware with Odin to the latest UK firmware, but no NFC button has appeared.
Does this phone actually have no NFC, or is it still embedded within the hardware and just needs to be enabled somehow? If so, how would I do that?
Any help would be appreciated before I send the phone back.
Just to add, the carrier is now updated to BTU, but XXV is still there also.
Thanks.
What does it show exactly? BTU/BTU,BTU/XXV ?

Yes exactly that
If it is showing like this then from software side it should work (assuming that BTU supports NFC). I have mine with DBT and it works, I came from a very restricted French Orange software, the last 3 letters only show the origin, while the others should match. My guess is that the original XXV hardware does not support NFC.
That's what I am thinking. So I assume that there is no way to "unlock" this i.e. the NFC chip is physically in the phone but locked out somehow due to the XXV manufacture code?

Hi guys.
I have a S5830M bought over the internet and I find it very 'suspicious'.
I've searched for info about it for several hours and then I've discovered something strange: my cell phone is probably from Panama.
My CSC: S5830M UWHKL4.
I'm not familiar with this codes, but I've got a match for this one at the sammobile site.
The strange thing is that the cell was delivered to me with no traces of being opened earlier AND it was already updated to Gingerbread, but what annoys me even more is that this phone has all the aplications of my operator (TIM BRAZIL), and in portugese.
What am I missing?
I believe it was some sort of scam by the store that sold it to me, but I would like to confirm it.
By the way, it's working properly - appart from the 3G hardware limitation.

Yes, thanks for the reply.
By the way, I've said some BS: my phone isn't customized by anyone. It had only the apps from the SIM card.

Monday I updated the FW of my US unlocked Note 8 (N950U1 / SD-version) with N950U1UEU5CRG6.
After the update I noticed that in Settings - About Phone, My Phone Number is listed as UNKNOWN. I am using the phone in The Netherlands with provider Hollandsnieuwe (=Vodafone). I am certain that the actual phone number was correctly displayed prior to the FW update.
Not sure if related, but Find My Phone/Device does no longer work via Samsung or Google. Is does work through Bitdefender Anti Theft...
Anyone has this or other issue after the update? Thoughts?

Hi, on my 2 Note8 dual sim, it is said : phone number⇒ unknown. And this from the beginning (on every firmwares). I'm in france using two french sim cards in the phone and i bought my phones on samsung shop. Until now, no problem, everything works great.
My branded, but unlocked 950F, as I paid for it the full price to use it as a prepaid phone displays the same, unknown number, since day one, I bought it directly from the major carrier in Mexico which is Telcel, everything works fine, all services and VoLTE
You mean like this seeing on my screenshot? This number is only visible if it's saved into your SIM card. Since a while, the carriers/operators don't write longer the numbers into the SIM card
So if you don't see it now, you never saw it before!
But there was an xposed module (if I remember right on android 4.4.2) where you can change this (showing) number.
(It don't changed your registered phone number!)
At that time I had found that thread
https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?ur...share_tid=2106490&share_fid=3793&share_type=t
That should be the correct GitHub link:
https://github.com/OXINARF/SIMNumberChanger
But it looks like there is a newer xposed module called SIMEditor - maybe that still works (when your device is rooted and xpised installed)
http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.gnufabio.simeditor
Greetings

Sorry for German language. The first line: Eigene Telefonnummer means "own phone number"
Don't be afraid to hit the "Thanks" button if someone helped you. It don't hurts
I've never had my phone number displayed in the information menu. As far back as the Note 3, no matter what firmware, official or custom, or even other phones. I live in South Africa. After reading @Logel's explanation, it now makes sense to me why it never showed to me, because of the way South African carriers assign numbers to customers.

I know it's not the exact same model, but my N950F/DS shows my phone number there like normal. Not sure why it's not showing in your case though.
Will it work?
I didn't tried it.
1. Flashing N960U/N960U1 With N9600 Firmware (N9600ZCU1CSB1) From here:
https://samfrew.com/download/Galaxy__Note9__/uc4p/CHC/N9600ZCU1CSB1/N9600CHC1CSB1/
2. Then putting China Sim Card (Inactivated one from eBay)
3. Then making factory reset and letting the phone boot up with Sim Card from China in it.
This supposed to automatically configure my phone CSC settings to the Chinese version "N9600CHC1CSB1" wich allow Call Recording.
Do you think it's possible?

Here is how in 3 steps:
1. You need to flash your N960U/N960U1 With N9600 Firmware (N9600ZCU1CSB1) From here:
https://samfrew.com/download/Galaxy__Note9__/uc4p/CHC/N9600ZCU1CSB1/N9600CHC1CSB1/
2. Then you need to put China Sim Card (buy one on eBay - It can be a used one and doesn't need to be activated)
3. Then make factory reset (YES, you need to erase your phone completely! and let the phone boot up with Sim Card from China in it.
This will automatically configure your phone dialer settings (CSC) to the Chinese version "N9600CHC1CSB1" wich allow Call Recording.
After phone boot up, you can switch Sim Card back to you US Carrier.
Everything will stay the same!
(Your phone WILL NOT be in Chinese or something like this so don't worrie!)
Have fun and report your success!

You can NOT flash N9600 firmware to a N960U or U1. Even if ODIN would allow it to flash, it would just brick your phone.

N960U, N960U1, and N960W are all the same exact device hardware-wise and you can cross flash those.
While the N9600 is a Snapdragon device, it is NOT the same as the above mentioned North American models. You can NOT cross flash the firmware with it.
If you don't believe me, literally 2 minutes of research in these forums and on the internet will confirm what I have said.
Please, delete your post before someone tries this and ends up with a brick.
Thank you.

So if you can Cross flash N960W on N960U, Maybe one of the CSC in N960W will allow you to Enable Call Recording.
Here are all N960W CSC's...
https://samfrew.com/model/SM-N960W/
Is there any way to check it inside the CSC file before flashing?

I don't believe so. And flashing a different CSC will break OTAs and cause other unknown problems.

What device do you have? And did you really just post instructions on how to acquire something without actually testing it first?? Please edit your post like Mr Orange asked man. You will cause folks who don't research to end up with issues.

Working on Note 9
Hi there Crew,
Just a quick side note for all... I have Appliqato Call Recorder WORKING on my note 9 (READ BELOW FOR MORE)
This is only relative to the Appliqato Call Recorder and I cannot comment on any other call recording app.
The reason the phone call recording apps will not work is because Google had their backside reamed through the courts on privacy issues.
If you troll through the net you will see the many many many punters who are really peeeeeeved off with this occurring.
I have spent the last 8 days of my holidays off of work flashing my note9 back six different operating systems, even flashing it back to the note 9 post pie (oreo) and got it working - but then the issue is that you wont get any of the standard security updates. etc etc So I set it back to the current firmware and gave up until I found the answer. I have read pages after pages of details to simply find the following
It is a restriction through GOOOOOOOGARGLE and the One UI - pie update NOT the phone manufacturer.
There are some countries that this does not affect but this is done via official firmware and security updates.
Anyways this may not work for all ! But is how I got it to work without any apk side loading or the likes or flashing.
I have a Note 9 Australian, SM-N960F - One UI version 1.0 Android Version 9, Baseband Version N960FXXU2CSDC
1/. Delete your old call recorder app (appliqato) - make sure you back up your calls just in case.
Your calls are not gone, but backup to be sure. Caller ID is not a problem with the unchained version.
2/. NOW here is the catch - go to the Samsung Galaxy Store ---- NOT ----GOOOOOGARGLE store and search for call recorder
3/. Install it ! You will see now that when you go into phone, go to settings - App version - it will now be 5.58-sam and not just 5.58
4/. Set your settings and away you go. Can confirm it works now as it did not before and after many an email to appliqato themselves whom explained that it was a GOOOOGARLE restriction.
It would seem that the lads at Samsung are aware of this but all of the negativity they are getting from this has a flow on effect. It would seem that People who dont read forums or scour the net and just want a quick fix are doing damage to the company's bottom line and reputation for the sales of their phones. The negative feedback's are aimed at Samsung but it is GOOOOGARGLE that are implementing the privacy restrictions through their updates. It should be up for us to decide what we allow permissions for or not. Thanks Samsung!
Me myself - my mother recently suffered a severe brain aneurysm with 6 weeks in intensive care - she is in the 5% of people who survive. Some 6 months later she is still not all together there and will probably have a degree of brain damage for the rest of her life. I like to be able to record her in conversation and cracking jokes when I am many thousands of kilometres away at work. When that one day she may no longer be here - I can play back those precious call memories of her funny an humorous side.
Thanks for your time - hope it helps and works for you.
Cheers,
Dazz
So I bought a brand new Sim-free sealed note 9 from eBay last week here in Germany. Take it from the box turn the phone on and see the OPTUS logo when I power it on and then I was thrilled like WTF is this a fake phone? (didn't know what that logo is) so I searched on google and found out that is just an Australian service provider so was relaxed and then I put different SIM card in the phone and I can do phone calls and use mobile data without any problems. The only problem is that the service provider SW is Locked on Optus Australia (OPS). I downloaded different stock firmware's from SamMobile for Germany (DBT), UK (BTU) Even Australia (XSA) and still in settings at the software info/service provider is shown: OPS/OPS,OPS/OPS and every time when I turn the Phone ON/OFF the annoying OPTUS logo is shown... I tried just only flashing the CSC in Odin but still no changes... I contact the buyer on eBay and he is willing to take the phone back and full refund me. But I want to keep the phone really like the Note 9. Please help me
You have to change the CSC using a combination file ROM, as they use a multi-CSC now. In some ways, it's better than the old system but in others, it's worse.
This took me ages to figure out but after finding a guide and the right combination ROM (must match the current bootloader version else it won't boot), it worked.
Here's the thread that helped me: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...9-s9-csc-only-same-model-numbers-csc.3870836/
Look through all the comments if you have issues. I believe I mentioned, somewhere in that thread, the exact steps I took to make it work.
Newer versions of SamFirm have a combination ROM download option to simplify finding one (new SamFirm builds don't seem to be on the website yet but the guy who maintains it now also has a YouTube channel where he posts links. Seems to be fine except the very latest version seems a bit ad-filled).
Just so you're aware, the N960F shouldn't be carrier-locked. You just can't change the CSC like older phones could. S7 and Note 7 were the last Samsung phones that used the old CSC system, if I remember correctly. Getting rid of the carrier logo is worth it, though, in my opinion.
Hi guys,
I bought the GW3 from Amazon US and the firmware is stuck at the R845USQU1BTK2 which is still Tizen 5.5.0.1.
Any clue why is this happening?
Do you suggest me to change CSC so that I get the updates?
Thanks in advance
It could well be that an update for your model on the current CSC hasn't come out yet.
Check it here, and change the CSC to yours (use capitals).
I don't think it is wise to change the CSC for an LTE watch if you use the LTE functionality (provider bound) . I'd just wait until your provider comes with an update.

Thanks a lot for your feedback!
It just sounds weird to me that they are leaving behind this model and wanted to check if it's just me or if mommy Samsung is just slow.
For the change of CSC, theoretically it shouldn't be an issue as the watch is unlocked (no provider branded)...so I don't think it should be linked to a specific provider and the change of CSC shouldn't affect negatively the LTE functionality.
At least this is what I think...
I was trying to get some comfort from you guys before jumping into the adventure....
