Hard reset from custom ROM - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hi I'm planning to sell my mi 9 and I want to reset custom ROM and TWRP to MIUI with stock bootloader. Can someone help me to get through this process?

If it's running well and a desirable rom, why not sell it as is?

Because Pixel Experience is not working fine lately, Google Pay is not working, Phone freezes out for couple hours and notifications dont show up every time

Ouch.

So is there anyone who could help?

Zuk Z2 Pro password locked

Wonder if anyone can help? I have a 3 yr old phone that I put a password on and cannot remember it. I haven't used if for two years but thought I would have a mess around.
However I am stuck now. Is there a way of overcoming this somehow. I still have the receipt from when I bought it. Any help or guidance appreciated.
Hi Hi,
it would be the easiest to make a factory reset, so all your data and all your locks are history...

Thanks for the reply. I ended up reflashing a stock ROM, upgraded to Android 8 and changed the launcher. Tried AOSP 10 ROM but couldn't get on with it.
I did try to factory reset but my phone wouldnt allow it. Seems it is not as easy As it seems.
OK, without that you have been dealing with the material in the last few years, it seems a lot.
But the STOCK ROM is also good enough and should be enough.
If you want to update to Androi Q you have to read into the material with the various TWRP and factory / vendor partitions, but this has been discussed far too often, so there are corresponding threads.
Good luck, and if you don't need your Z2pro anymore let me know )

Xiaomi K20 Pro Stuck in a Bootloop after MIUI 12 Update

Has anyone experienced something like this? It’s happening on my Xiaomi K20 Pro after I just updated it to MIUI 12 directly from the settings app
here's a video: youtu.be/ Mv-Qbgb0rR8 (I don't know where else to post this video, but I'm not allowed to post links)
Just in case the video wasn’t very clear, basically when I try to boot everything seems to boot fine to the lock screen, but if I try to unlock the phone with my pin it will just go back to the boot screen again, if I click on the emergency button it also does the same thing and if I just wait a little bit the same thing happens too.
It kinda reminds me of that wallpaper bug that bricked people’s phones, but I didn’t have any problems in MIUI 11 and my wallpaper is from the Google wallpaper app so I don’t expect that to be the problem.
I think it might be because my phone is running the international/global Rom instead of the original rom? I bought this phone used, and the software is saying that its a Mi 9T Pro instead of K20 Pro.
Can someone help me solve this? Or would I need to just factory reset? The phone is also already unlocked, so I was able to back everything up via a custom recovery, but reinstalling and setting everything back up again is just going to take a while, so maybe someone can help?
Maybe I could do something from the custom recovery (currently using orangefox recovery) to save this? I really don't want to factory reset
yes i am facing the same issue
At this point I wouldn't hold much hope on avoiding a clean install.
If you can access the data OK in TWRP/OF, I would suggest backing up your personal data, then try the following.
Dirty flash the MIUI 12 recovery ROM again.
If that fails, clean flash the MIUI 12 recovery ROM.
If that fails, clean flash the MIUI 12 fastboot ROM.
Personally myself, I would go straight to flashing the fastboot ROM, as it's the option almost guaranteed to work.
You can also try to factory reset your phone. Do you have TWRP?

The build installed is coral-userdebug 11 RQ1A.201205.....xxxxxx how do I fix this? Bonus points if I can install that degreenify thing with the app/ROM found on xda

Hey, this thread is for Google Pixel 1, that is Sailfish and you seem to have an Google Pixel 4 XL, that is a Coral. Use "https://developers.google.com/android/images" link to find the stock rom for your device along with the instructions to flash the same. Happy Flashing

Flashing an official rom. (yeah, there's a newbie over here)

Yeah, it's kind of a stupid question but I really need help to understand some things before doing anything and turning my phone into a paperweight. It's my first thread so I really hope you can help me with it
I'm from colombia btw.
Have to advice that english is not my first language so if you see any grammatical error it's probably that.
So; I've been investigating why my phone is still waiting for the miui 12.0.7.0 update since it's been stuck on miui 11.0.9.0 since a while, tried installing Every possible rom of the official site and that didn't worked. So I started to investigate and found that my phone has a custom rom installed by the business that selled me the phone; and that rom won't be updated anymore since that business is really lazy with that type of updates (I had phones by them in the past that just didn't updated at all since all the time I had them).
And now I'm wanting to change that rom to the official one (The Global One).
I've already started the bootloader unlock and I'm waiting right now for the 168 hours to be able to unlock it, but I've got some questions that i really need to get answered before I can start doing anything.
So let's start with this, ok?
Right, so my first doubt comes about the roms. Right now my phone has a Custom Rom made by "Claro" (also known as telcel on latam) and that custom rom is literally locking any update that comes from the global xiaomi updater; and it wouldn't be that bad if the phone wouldn't reset with A LOT of preinstalled apps and a custom logo for the startup that lags the phone even when starting up.
I would be able to change that custom rom from my phone into the official one without many complications?, I've been looking for some programs and it seems that Xiaomi Flash Tool and XiaoMiTool_V2 were some of my options (for not saying the only ones), and I would like to know your opinion about them and what of those two would you recommend me.
Both of the roms (the official one and the custom one) are "Global" so i would like to know if that would affect (or improve) anything at all.
My second doubt comes mostly on the unlocked bootloader, since what I had readed about it can actually block you from opening apps (like Netflix) and I wanted to know if it could be possible to lock it again since i'm installing the global one.
Have to clarify that it is a Redmi Note 9 with 128GB ROM and 4GB RAM, it's almost new (has like 2 weeks or so) and is currently running MIUI 11.0.9.0.
if you need anymore info or pictures I would be glad to give it to you if you can help me with my doubts.
Certainly, unlocking the bootloader is your best chance.
Unlock it first and then, flash the any other rom you want.
If you want, you can relock the bootloader again too.

Question Freezes and Restarts

Hi Guys,
i am experiencing random freezes and weird restarts for about 4 weeks now. Sometimes the MI Logo shows not in the middle but on random locations on the screen and it is not necessary to do the pin input. Did anyone have the same experience? This is the Reason to try and unlock the bootloader.
Greetings

While its not nice that you have experienced some issues the technology is no there yet...we cant read minds or/and predict outcome
Please provide us with something we can work on and i am sure we will do our best.... But standard advice would be factory reset as nr1.
Take care and best of luck

I have almost the same symptoms with Mi11 global version Miui 12.5 locked bootloader , the phone freezes and the screen flickers, but no problem appears on the bootloader or the recovery, the strangest thing is that when I use the PUBG mobile games everything works normal, I tried several ROMs but the problem persists
