C5502 and Docomo set hardware compatibality - Sony Xperia ZR

I have my old C5502 ZR with water damaged camera and a bad screen. Brought a used Docomo set Xperia ZR to be a parts donor phone. Just 1 question, is it possible to just swap the mainboard of the phones or do they have any hardware locks like iphones has? Will swap the mainboard, antennas and NFC from c5502 to the donor body.

They're basically the same. Identical specs etc.
Only differences i've been able to track:
- ZL is 5-6mm shorter
- Z is water/dust proof while ZL is not
- ZL has infrared port to act as a bravia remote
- Different build. Z is full glass while ZL uses plastic back
No info on the price, although it might be almost the same. Shame they won't bring Z and ZL in the same time to most countries - seems like half the world won't get one of them. ZL won't be available in the UK.
no i did not know there were 2 diffrent models of the same phone
But looking again the z is better as in
IP57 certified - dust and water resistant
- Water proof up to 1 meter and 30 minutes
there are a number of features that's different on both.
Infrared - ZL
water/dust resistant - Z
Size - ZL
camera shutter key - ZL
battery - ZL
glass body - Z
Dual Sim - ZL? Please confirm this one
that's all I think.

ZL is *not* dual sim.
ZL has IR blaster, camera button and slimmer bezel
Z has full glass body, is thinner and is waterproof.

Thanks if that's true Can't really confirm that one since almost all blogs state that it's dual sim
and a sony moderator can't even confirm this one.
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/101891
Nevertheless how can you say that it's not dual sim? Need some credible source to believe it.

It is not dual sim. Look at any video when they open the back. The cover on the back gives you slots for microsim and microsd, not 2 micro sim cards. Also the battery is not really bigger. It's about 30-40mah more which is basically the same if we look at 2370mah capacity.
ZL also has a better notification light.

I wouldnt consider Z to have a notification light because of how small it is, it's just like my xperia T which I barely could see.
Ok then at least call it notification led since that thingy that's glowing is a light emitting diode LED.

Do you want slightly bigger phone with water/dust proofing (Z) or smaller sized device with ir remote and no water/dust proofing (ZL)? Other than that they are basically the same with some design differences.
The Z scored better in data speeds and battery times in the spec lists on the gsm link above coupled with waterproof and shatterproof that's the one I'd get my dad lol

what's wrong with yours ?
I brought my ZR with my friend and he brought the SP together. SP is good for who want a cheaper price, not targeting for a better camera. For SP, you can set the notification LED colors for different apps but ZR cannot. If you think the prize for ZR is reasonable, and you want better battery experience, quad cpu, waterproof phone, replaceable battery, then ZR is a good choice. SP seems a little heavier as it uses metal case I think. One more major difference is that ZR has cover for micro usb and headset plug. It's a little inconvenient but some will take those covers as a plus as they can protect the phone from dust. Also ZR is obviously smoother in my point of view.
All in all, if you don't think price is a major problem and the function of the phone is important to you, then I think ZR is your choice.

The screen became unresponsive and now it's gone for repairs. There are already 2-3 people with the same problem in the forum. Maybe it's just bad luck.

well 2 or 3 in the same forum, with a not too much popularity for that device, I won't call it bad luck. Let's wait and see

[Q] zr vs z vs sp?

i am confused if wat phone will i buy .. can u suggest me? en why is dat fone u chose?
Definitely ZR, same hardware as Z, which was the flagship before the z1 and z ultra. Also it is waterproof (great for rain, underwatershots, washing the phone). The appearance of the SP and its led might be more appealing though

Consider These Point :-
Xperia Z - Best Design,2.2 MP Front Cam, 5" FHD Display And Expensive Among All Three
Xperia ZR - 4.6 inch display better then Z for Grip,Better Screen Quality Then Z,1.5 mtr Water Resistant
Xperia SP - Cheapest Among Them All Three Performance Is Best In Any Dual Core Phone,no water resistant
And Ya Xperia Z And ZR Both Have Same Processor And RAM Bt SP Is A Dual Core Phone With 1 Gb Of RAM
Personally, I think the SP is the one to get:
- Similar dimensions to ZR
- Performance similar to the ZR
- Notification LED is much much better
- Marginally better battery life
- Much cheaper than ZR
- 8MP camera is sufficient
- No fiddly flappy ports to break off for headphones and charging
The only bad thing about the SP is the non removable battery and it's not IP58 certified waterproof and dustproof.
What about ZR vs ZL
ZL
- 16GB of Internal Memory
- 2.2MP Front-facing Camera
- IR Port
- Better Speaker and Audio Recording
- 5" FullHD Display
- Flap-less
- Better Developer support
- Better bundle headset
- Better screen Ratio
ZR
- Waterproof IP58
- Better -General- Design (IMO)
- Better Gaming performance (HD Display)
- Better battery life and removable
- 5$ cheaper
What phone should i buy?! Help Me! I am a bit worried about ZL performance due FulHD resolution vs HD of ZR

[Q] can sony xperia z c6602 4.4 can get pen mode?

Can the sony xperia z c6602 get the pen mode enable?
I like the feature
If you mean Pen like in Samsung note series.
If you mean that answer is No.
Xperia Z doesn't have wacom digitalizer compatible with such pens.
You still can use pens for capacitive screens, but they are not so precise and trouble-free. I tried some of them, even some "amazing mind blow super-duper awesome" ones made for iPhones but they are rubbish just like any other chinese capacitive pens.
EDIT:
oh I forgot that there is "pen mode" -_- for xperia z ultra. he...
About that, I saw post in Polish Sony Blog that they have something like that in update(but probably it was just "gloves" mode), but what update and when I have no idea.
There is such trick for Xperia Z1 so who know if its possible in XZ
here is link to Z1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2652762
Also I saw one topic for Xpeira SP, so If we can get gloves mode I dont think that it would be problem to set pen mode...
Out of curiosity I checked sys and system folders in my xperia Z, but there is no files needed for this(I thought that they maybe disabled it like in Z1 in latest kitkat update...)

still worth?

hey i wanma buy xperia z phone used person, is worth? how about battery ? i read in internet and i found sony SOD sudden of dead symphtom. guys whitch are using xperia z do you see any issies with your xperia z??? plz answer me i'm very dissapointed.
Well, honestly, I don't think it's worth buying at this time. I mean there are lot of good new phones with newer hardware available which will be best for buying even if u want buy a used phone. But if u want to play with your phone, like flashing different Roms, Overclocking etc. for fun purpose then you may buy Xperia Z. I've been using Xperia Z for almost 3 years and its my daily phone, didn't face much of a problem expect some screen issue like 1 or 2 pixel dead and LED bleeding... and some unable to receive call problems in some Roms...
so , i buy g2

xperia Z is one amazing device with
1. 2gb ram
2. from jellybean to kitkat and finally to lollypop (5.1)
3. never hanged (atleast the one set i have , never does)
4. no drmkeys issue ( you can simply extract by using various xploirts)
5. kernel by @shoey63 adds double tap to wake, and swipe to wake gestures!
6. no over heating issue like later sony devices
7. C6603 supports 4g
8. sleak design
low side
1. dying speaker,
2. if you make your device wet and it touches speaker(s) then until the material (clothtype) dries, you won't hear anything
3. cannot be used without skin or cover, device is so sleak that it will slip through fingers
so , is it still worth buying in 2017.. ?
if 5g had already came in market, i would've said "NO"
but i would say .... YES, it's still worth buying even in 2017 as the box material has dock, car charger, nfc tags, usb data/carge cable and wallcharger (some shipments also includes atleast screen protector)
there are many models in market having 2gb ram in 2017 on competitive prices. so if you find good deal on xperia Z (c6603)
i think you must buy!
@YasuHamed.. i think i buy z2 or maybe z3
