Recover Data (Contacts) From P9 Lite With Broken Touchscreen - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

My dad Huawei P9 Lite touchscreen stopped working after 4 years of service. Everything else still seems to work including the side buttons and the screen itself.
Sadly he didn't link his contact to his Google account so it would be great to find a solution to get them out of the phone. Luckily he saved pictures in a microSD so that's not an issue.
I am 99% sure he didn't enable USB debugging so I can't use the basic recovery programs to do it. I am gonna try with a USB mouse tomorrow but I am afraid it won't work with the P9 Lite.
Is there anything else I could try to do?

Recover pictures with broken screen. Please help.

My wife dropped her phone and the screen is now completely dead but the phone still works as it gets notifications etc. I enabled google back up a while ago but looking at her account it hasn't updated since March. This mean about 1/3 of my son's pic's will be lost forever unless I figure this out. I've tried everything I can think of and have searched for hours but I cant find anything useful. I think I have some driver issues on my PC on top of this as it wont connect to my Moto X PE with MTP and USB debug enabled with moto's device manager software installed. Please help. I'd pay if I need to at this point.
Did you enable the app Google photo's? If so, your photo's should be backed up on the Google photo's site (just Google) check that site first on your wife's Google account before doing anything drastic.

Maybe its too illogical but install twrp... Boot into it and try accessing your internal storage on PC from there as twrp supports MTP.

Hopefully Svanmansom's advice helped and the photos were backed up with the Google Photos app. If not, there are ways to access the phone without a working screen, provided the phone itself still works as you suggest. If your computer truly doesn't recognize the phone either no matter what you try (reinstalling the drivers, trying a different USB port, etc), and another computer isn't available, it may cost a few bucks. Here is a general list of possible solutions:

And if your phone is locked:

I hope you were already able to get the photos much more simply. Good luck.
Hi, I have an idea, you could try to use a MHL cable to conect your device to the TV, once conected get to the playstore, then dowload Airdroid and back up your photos to you PC directly. This is a theory. Good Luck! =)
Thanks all for the tips. I bought an MHL cable only to find out the 2014 moto x doesn't support mhl. I had photos back up enabled but it apparently hadn't updated since March causing this whole issue. So far I still can't get the 2 PCs I have easy access to even recognize it in device manager. That joyofandroid site is what got me thinking mhl only to find it doesn't support it. Very frustrating, there has to be a way.

Huawei P20Pro Cloud problems

Hi!
I have a Huawei P20Pro. Region: Romania - EU.
From the moment I've purchased the device the Huawei Cloud didn't worked for me. I have an account, I can log in but the "cloud" doesn't make any back-up. When I tried to make manual back-up it took over 8 hours and nothing happend. It take aprox 10 minutes to show the available storage although is the same initial 5 GB. I've tried the hard reset, resetting network settings. I've disabled the back-up of Gallery to save space and time and nothing hapens.
After a month of daily use the cloud of my Huawei is empty. I couldn't make any back-up.
Thanks guys!
Sal. Also from România, had the same problem. Now I am in vacation in Cyprus, and the cloud backup works well. I think Huawei cloud has some problems with IP classes from Romania. It shouldn't be the case, because H cloud is available in our country, just like hicare, but that is the situation so far...

Hi!
The strange part is that a friend of mine also from Romania who has Huawei P10 is very happy with the cloud. It works for him.
I also tried on my wife's P20Pro and also didn't worked!
Tanks!
It does not work for me either . It says last update: 5.8.2018, when I do it based on the description, i.e. connect to wifi, put it on charger and turn off screen, it does nothing.
When I hit "backup" manually, it starts backing up Messages and then ends (crashes). I am from Slovakia (if the location matters)

Hi!
My problems are solved! Suddenly! Without my intervention. One day, out of nowhere my P20 Pro starts to back up. And it worked! Actually before trying with this forum I spent a lot of time with the costumer support. They told me to reset my device, to reset my wi-fi settings etc. I think that they also provide Huawei with some informations. And now Huawei cloud it's working!
Have a nice day

P20 PRO - Enabling debugging USB on a blacked out screen

Hi everyone.\
My new phone screen has died. It is completely black and being under a month old the supplier has agreed to replace it for me.
The only problem is I would like to back up my data before sending it back as it has sentimental photos of my child's first Christmas.
I thought I had selected- back up to cloud but while checking my gmail account this doesn't seem to be the case, I also didnt select enable usb debugging either.
Because of this, as you can imagine, I can't access my phone via my pc at all. All extraction apps also require the usb debugging to be enabled and because my screen is completely blank I cant do this.
I have tried casting and mirroring my phone too, with the hope of being able to actually see the screen I could select what I need to and then use hi suite to retrieve my data, but again as I cant see the screen I cant give permissions or downloads apps for android etc
I am at a complete lost, and literally have tried everything I can think off.
Please can someone help save the day!
Use usb c to hdmi cable!

Corrupted software and PIN no longer unlocks phone

I have a Sony Xperia 10 (I think it's a I3113 and it's from the UK) that when switched on displays a triangle with tools in it. After 30 seconds or so it then boots up and goes to the PIN unlock screen.
The phone belonged to a friend who sadly died about 6 months ago and we don't think the phone has not been switched on since then. At the time it's believed that the phone had a pattern lock (which she thinks she knows) and not a PIN code setup and we don't think it had the warning triangle prior to this.
The deceased's wife would like to access the photos on the phone but can't access it without unlocking it. The photos don't look like they've been backed up to Google Drive or similar and they're not on the SD card.
I've tried to access it via ADB and unsurprisingly it seems USB debugging is not enabled and the Google find my device account doesn't list the device.
The official Sony software that may fix the software fault looks like it will reset the device and wipe the data which we obviously want to avoid.
Can anyone think of anything else that we can try?
Is it possible to use something like Flashtool or Newflasher to fix the software or reset the PIN or am I right in thinking that these still require USB debugging to be enabled?
