Hi everyone!
It's been about a year and a half since I first installed Magisk on my phone with TWRP and considering that I now noticed I'm getting SafenityNet API error, I wanted to update my Magisk to the latest version and install the Universal SafetyNet module as well to fix this issue.
I just have some questions regarding this:
I'm running Magisk Manager 7.5.1 & Magisk 20.4 repacked and with Magisk Hide, how can I update from Magisk 20.4 to Magisk 23? My phone shows 22.1 as the latest.
Before updating do I need to restore Magisk Manager to the original package and app names?
Will updating Magisk affect my already installed Modules or will they stay in effect?
I'm using a Xiaomi with Android 9 Pie and MIUI Global 11.0.5.0
Thanks in advance.

Maybe let Magisk Manager take you to v22.1, then you'll be one step away from v23.0 and hopefully at some point it becomes available. If upgrading to v22.1 succeeds you'll end up with one app that is Magisk SU and the manager all in one. I mention this in case you're wondering why Magisk Manager disappeared.
I don't understand what you mean about restoring Magisk Manager "to the original package and app names" but your modules should still work after upgrading. Worst case would be a module that didn't keep up with Magisk and isn't supported anymore.

Yes, you do. See the v22.0 release notes:

Ahh, the question makes sense now. I've never needed to conceal Magisk.

Thanks to both of you for the clarifications.
I will unhide/restore the manager and will install 22 before going onward to 23.

Try the universal safetynet patch that's in the magisk forum somewhere. I would link it but I'm in my phone atm and out.
Edit: here https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/xiaomi-safetynet-fix-t3600431 - install it in twrp, not through magisk manager
Also, next time please post your magisk log here so that someone who knows what they are doing can look at it
I have seen someone else's log here, suggesting that you may need a patched or custom kernel for it to be supported. I don't have a Samsung phone so I can't confirm though.

Thank you, I uninstalled xposed framework and used the unsu script and it worked for me.
But now I've got another question. How do i get xposed work for my phone without failing the safetynet check?
I wanted to install snappref but it won't work this way

For the moment there is no such possibility if Xposed is installed on Nougat to SafetyNet failed, without Xposed is SafetyNet Pass Green.
Ok thank you, where can I read if it is available?
You Can install universal safetynet fix on recovery mode

How do I update Magisk? In the main topic it is advised to update Magisk using the Manager but that's not possible. I'm currently having Magisk Manager 6.0.1 with Magisk 17.3 installed. The Manager only asks to update itself to version 6.1. But that version directly crashes on start because there is no backwards compatibility with with Magisk < 18. Therefor I want to update using TWRP. My question is now if I can simply install the new version without uninstalling Magisk? Or do I have to uninstall Magisk first? If the latter, is it enough to restore the original bootloader or do I have to uninstall Magisk completely (and loosing all data in the progress)?
Thanks for your help.
Same question here, somebody please look into this.
Hi!
The latest CIB mobile bank app (updated at: 2019-09-21) detect phone as rooted.
I tried with Magisk 19.3 and 19.4 beta too.
System is Android v7.1.2 and LineageOS 14.1-20171021-UNOFICIAL-KonstaKANG-Y560.
I've reinstalled the bank app (with reboot system), but nothing changed.
I've tried this steps too, it's brake Magisk installation. After that I must reinstall Magisk.
Please repair/update this on next version!

Sadly the most safe way to use banking apps is on a stock device without root
([emoji3590]09-09-18[emoji3590])
Works fine on latest Canary after hiding Magisk Manager (settings -> Hide Magisk Manager).
Like above, I tested the app and it doesn't detect root on my device (OP3T, custom Pie ROM, Magisk Canary build 19402 with hidden Manager 237). Magisk can hide from the app, so something about your setup is the issue.

If you've already tried v19.4 beta, there's practically no difference (especially regarding MagiskHide).

I know, so my statement was made to let you know that you might not need the Canary build at this very moment (since there's currently practically no difference between the builds).
Anyway, take a look here for help on getting the app running:

hi, i just flashed my xiaomi mix phone with Magisk 20.4. everything is new but the safetynet checks are failing.
i have previously tried on riru and edxposed. the checks say YES but i still cannot load pokemon go. i think those fixes are fake and not working, Google seems to be able to detect it still.
Can anyone help?
thanks.

Having the exact same issue with my Mix 3. Just flashed a few moments ago. Been looking at the other threads and it seems that no fix works as of now. Hoping that it isn't permanent as Google is cracking down on unlocked bootloaders.
Try to hide what you want via magisk hide.
Sorry, but that is not helpful. Same thing here. Device passed SafetyNet on 20.3. After upgrade to 20.4 it fails. What can I do to figure out what changed?
please refer here to set it up in your phone.
Be notice: If you don't use edxposed, just skip it. If you do, please remember to install canary version of edxposed in Edxposed manager !

Thank you! You were right, this was not caused by the Magisk upgrade, but by EdXposed. After upgrading to Canary version SafetyNet passes again.
I'd also like to add (in case someone stumbles across this thread looking for answers) that Magisk v20.4+ has MagiskHide disabled by default. On a fresh install you will have to enable it before Hide will be able to do it's thing.
Hello,
I'm still on 25.2 and read that many had issues with install magisk 26/26.1 resulting for some in bootloop. So have you installed with success the latest magisk 26.1, if so how did you do it to install it without issues.
Is it save to do it this way.
1* Disable all magisk modules
2* Update magisk manager
3* True magisk manager (Direct install) to install magisk 26.1
4* Reboot
5* Enable all modules again.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
ysco..
I was on stable 25.2 and then the v26 was released on the beta channel so I just changed for the beta channel, updated manager and flashed directly without disabling my modules.
Then do it again when 26.1 was released
Just updated to 26.1 from 25.2 with no issues.
Thx guy's for letting me know that all went fine for you . Will update tomorrow in case it goes wrong, then I have the weekend to fix it if needed . It's my business phone
Thx again.
Edit: just installed without issues
