I have a less than 6 month old Note 9 which will connect to the access points in my home without any trouble but on many occasions there's no data flow at all.
All other devices in the house are not having any issues at all, my GF's Redmi 9 also experiences issues as well but no other devices do.
Is there a problem with some of the Redmi 9 and Note 9 Wi-Fi function?
I also usually find that when the Wi-Fi is working, speed test results are usually much slower but you can't always rely on Wi-Fi speed test results anyway.
Any ideas?
Cheers in advance

Me and a friend have the Xiaomi Redmond note 4 and when we went to grab a coffee together I noticed that I have a much worse signal connection than him, when he was at full signal strength on the WiFi whereas I had 1 line , then I noticed that at home , I don't even find the network on places where I used to have good connection , is it possible that I somehow destroyed the WiFi connection receiver in the phone? And it can't be a router problem of course since others had good signal compared to me, is this fixable?

Today, received my phone and first thing I noticed was poor WiFi speed and upon further looking I saw poor link speed on 2.4Ghz connection and my other devices including redmi note 4(mido) and redmi 4(santoni) all had link speeds of 150Mb/s up and down while mi A2 was at 65Mb/s up and down even if I kept the phone next to router. None of my devices suffer the issue. Is the issue specific to my device or anyone else facing same? Should I return phone cause I still can. Also if anyone facing same issue can you try to see if issue exist in GSI roms as well? P.S. I am on September security patch.
Did you tried 5 ghz band?
That's what I get with the 5GHz networks. With 2.4GHz I get around 2-3 Mbps up and down. Just aweful.
The speeds are ok with me its just the range that sucks even with a case on. i had to take off the case to get that bit of extra range. They have to patch this or fix somehow cause my Moto G5Plus has waaay better range than this.

Yes, I have this issue. On 2.4GHZ network the fastest Link speed on Mi A2 is locked at 72mpbs and this was the case with Mi A1 also. But on the 5GHZ network it get higher Link speed but the stability is so bad.
I am sending a feedback via the feedback app after every update so they unlock the link speed but still nothing happened.
Just checked my 2.4GHz connection. I got the highest speed since I've bought the phone at a whopping 15Mbps on a 200Mbps network. That said, I can barely connect to the 2.4 GHz network since it just keeps dropping it. On the other hand, the 5GHz one went down to 50Mbps max... It's not exactly a deal breaker for me since I can still do everything I need on the 5 GHz network, but I'm curious what can be done about it.
Hello and sorry for my bad english. I always have Wi-Fi issues with my mi a2. ROM stock, gsi....
I heve already converted it to mi 6x and always same issues ( gsi, miui 10)....
It seems my wifi got better with that new kernel no more Disconnects.
Looks like the same issue with the A1.

Return the phone and buy other, maybe poco
The reception is bad, the speed are ok. My 5 old year Galaxy S4 have better range.
I have poor speed in 2,4 and 5gh.
And serious disconnecting problems in 5gh. I finished by don't use it as all...
Perfect with redmi note 7 and redmi note 8t.
Which custom rom have best and most stable wifi?
Hello guys,
Ive bought Xiaomi mi A2 few days back. Despite overal satisfaction with phone I am deeply frustrated with network.
Sometimes when phone is locked for X ammount of time, when I unlock it I see no wifi or no network signal.
My wifi works worse than my mobile data, which do most of work. If i move like 5 meters from router I almost don't get signal at all.
My internet is optic one, and all other phones when being connected on my home net work almost perfect, pages load instantly.
But with mi A2 lets say, at best it is frustration. Wifi randomly connect, disconnect and much more.
I have reseted it to fabric data, I have reseted network options, I have turned off batery saver option.
I updated system to lastest version. Nothing help.
Even after returning phone to fabric state, I had to download updates for 5 hours. Can someone explain me where I should bring logs (maybe I can do it here, and to check if those are software or hardware problems?)
Thank you,
Boris
I'm noticing this on my Snapdragon note 9. I've ran comparison between oneplus 6t, iPhone 8 and iPad , pixelbook, and Note9 is the only one that has the problem.
When testing with speed test, all of them have good download speeds. But when it comes to consistent connection, note 9 is the only one that has a problem. I know game isn't a best way to test, but I don't know other ways to test.
When I play slither.io on my Note 9 it glitches like hell. Not smooth motion at all, to a point where if there are more than 4 or 5 other players near by its unplayable. When playing against AI it's completely smooth. So I know it's not processor speed.
Using other devices mentioned, same location same WiFi and I have zero problem.
My home is gigabit fiber on Google WiFi.
Not a big deal, but it's annoying that a $1000 phablet has this issue. Also note my friends Galaxy S9 has the same twitching issue. Seems like some software issue with WiFi..
It's actually better NOT on wifi.
Yes! Cuts out randomly. Luckily I have unlimited data so I keep it on all the time. Hope they fix it soon.
If you go to wireless settings there's and advanced page with all kinds of options. I turned most off so mine would not jump from the VPN Router to the Media Router as I moved around the house. I think a lot would be great for people in a dorm or corporate campus but around me just not needed.
My redmi note 9 is on miui v12.0.6.0 QJOINXM (Indian version). The wifi router in my house supports 2.4GHz/5GHz dual band. My phone often disconnects from wifi. It is like the phone is showing connected to wifi but there is no upload or download speed. I have to turn off the wifi option in phone settings and turn it back on for the connection to work again. It happens every 1 minute or so and it is very frustrating. Please if anyone could give any suggestions.
I am also facing the same problem. Did you get any solution?
Same here, bloody annoying.
Connects to access point no problem, remains connected to access point no problem but it's pot luck if you get data flow.
Using my Redmi right now, so hopefully this posts ok.
