LG Optimus L90 MTP not working after uninstalling a software - LG Optimus L90

I have had this LG Optimus L90 D415 for a few years now. I love this phone for its long battery life and double tap off/on screen. Couple years ago I got another phone to carry with me and use this LG as a MP3 Player, Audiobook Player, etc.
So I rooted the phone with Kingroot APK which was easy and required no knowledge and skill (I am completely Android illiterate . Sorry about that.)
Then I started uninstalling all the bloatware like Amazone, Kindle, etc.
But ......... I uninstalled some other APKs that were not bloatware but I assumed I had no longer needed them. I am pretty sure I went too far and uninstalled some thing I shouldnt have.
Now the MTP has stopped functioning. When I connect my phone to a PC, the driver fails to install and the MTP option is no longer available in the notification bar. It means I cannot copy anything from PC to the device or vice versa.
Now I have TWRP apk installed on my phone, I have root access, but I dont know what will restore my phone's essential software that was related to MTP.
Right now that MTP is not working, I cannot connect to a PC, so , the only thing left is to copy something on the SD card (I dont know what I need) , put it into the phone and use that file. Other methods that require connection to a PC dont work for this issue.
Thanks for this forum and appreciate all answers

[Q] LG Thrill Restore Woes

Hey everyone-The Lg Thrill I have seems to have become corrupt, so that every time it reboots, it's stuck in the same settings and applications. Every time I reset, any applications or files I installed are gone, and all of my settings are reset to the way they were in a past state. I've done the all the resets possible and still no luck. Is there any way to fix this?
Sorry for thread resurrecting. I'm trying to fix my roommates phone and having the same issue. Tried hard reset, factory reset, manually deleting apps, Recovery reset, nothing seems to work, same apps and settings, even on the SD card (yes, I did try to manually remove them via the phone), Once the phone is turned back on (it doesnt reset on its own for some reason) it'll be exactly how it was before I removed or reset anything. In fact, the only thing that DID change permanently was removing the screen lock. I wouldnt really care because it's set up the way he wants it, but it's been having connectivity issues (texts take hours to recieve or notify and phone calls drop out frequently, even in good signal areas) and I'm frequently getting crash errors, usually regarding On-screen, Google Play and USB mode.
My Windows 7 PC doesn't seem to recognize it either, it fails installing the drivers on its own and after finding a legacy LG support tool that supports the Thrill, only recognizes mass storage mode.
If it was me I would try to flash a firmware. If what you have is simply corrupt system or whatnot, doing so would fix that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195753
FYI proper driver install (i.e. part one there, the 'tricky' part...) is critical for a good flash.
I'd try that first to see how it goes and take it from there.
And FYI, all the good Thrill info is over in Optimus 3D (P920) section...same device, but Thrill is US ATT branded. I have a Thrill (P925).

[Q] Connection to PC Problems/Retrieving Deleted Files

First of all, my HTC One is not rooted. My PC has Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64-bit.
Here is how my problem started (the phone not being seen problem may have existed prior to this). I connected my phone to my computer (a sound played during connection). Autostart opened Windows Explorer showing the phone storage. I double clicked to find the folder where my videos were. I right clicked the video I wanted to transfer to my PC, chose 'cut', right clicked the desktop and chose 'paste'. The video disappeared from the folder on the phone, but was not on the desktop. I refreshed the desktop, but the file still did not appear.
I restarted both the PC and the phone. Tried reconnecting and started getting notifications in the taskbar 'installing drivers', as if the phone's driver's had been uninstalled. The driver installation failed. I tried a Windows update and found updates available, but the installation failed (code 800F020B). I ran System File Checker and repeated the above, but the update failed. Strangely though, if I opened Explorer, the phone showed up (however on some occasions it didn't).
I therefore installed 'Undelete 360'. Tried to access the phone to retrieve files, but the program couldn't see the phone (even though I could access files via explorer). I thought it may be the software, so I tried 'Remo Recover', but the same happened again.
I have also tried uninstalling drivers (unknown device in Device Manager) and restarting, but to no avail.
I have the latest version of HTC Sync Manager installed, but this program seems to be of no use.
The phone is in USB debugging mode and when attached to the PC is showing 'MTP Enabled' (I can't find anyway to change this). Android version 4.3. The only other noticeable problem on the phone is that HTC Sync, which was supposed to be in sync with Gmail, is hsowing 'Sync Off' and I can't switch it back on.
I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this. My objective is to retrieve the video files I tried to 'cut' and 'paste'.
You probably can't get the file back, sorry. The device connects with MTP which does not support the required low-level operations. I highly doubt an app from the Play store would work, but its your best bet.
In future you'd be better off copying and then deleting.

Thanks for your reply Ben. That's bad news.
So the fact that it only connects with MTP means that the device may not be visible in certain circumstances and I'll have to live with that. This doesn't explain why from time to time when I connect the phone, my PC starts to install drivers and sometimes the instillation fails. There seems to be something else afoot.

[Q] Help! Hard reset done and gallery hasn't restored.

So after encountering the annoying 505 error I did a full back up via the Backup app as sync manager on the laptop wasn't playing ball.
Did the hard factory reset and then restored from the back up file I had made 10 minutes beforehand.
Most things have restored but I went to check a picture and ALL GONE!
Things like whatsapp messages and contacts didn't restore either.
What can do to recover the lost images?
and typically none of it worked to solve the 505 error.
I know this isn't the usual standard of question on this forum but is anyone able to shed some light on my problem?
Does the HTC Backup program, back up images or is that an oversight on my part?
ok so it seems that i'm an idiot and htc doesn't back up images on an htc account back up.
I'm now trying to run my phone through recovery software (MagicCute Recovery) but the program won't recognize the phone, I guess because it's not a mass storage device and connects via MTP?
I read a guild to turn on developer mode and then turn on USB debugging but that hasn't made any difference.
If there a way to plug my phone in and the computer to recognize it as a mass storage device?

check google playstore for undelete software, plenty on there, be careful about how much you install or uninstall.
Dont know if your aware of this, but nothing is ever really deleted, its flagged as safe to be overwritten and hidden from the user, too much installing or un-installing apps will overwite the flagged images.

I am sure that when connected to a Linux machine it shows as an external drive...not sure if that helps at all ?
If what i suggest is true then you can run Linux within windows from a USB drive, but clearly your recovery software has to be a linux compatible version.
Just a suggestion rather than fact!

Currently browsing play store now, is there any you can recommend?
I wasn't fully aware of how it works but I knew I could recovery most with some nifty software. MagicCute has worked wonders in the past for me.
At least all my music is stored in music play store.
I found a PC based program to scan the phone but the phone requires to me rooted for that, although that was my main reason for joining this forum to root I'm a little apprehensive to do anything like that until I have saved my pics!
Cheers.

Someone else said they had great luck with DiskDigger Pro
Good luck!
Sorry sheppster, completely missed your reply somehow yesterday. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks clsa I'll give that a go once rooted.
I'm currently reading, reading watching and rewatching content on the rooting process. Very confusing for a complete and utter noob. A lot of content is spoken as if I have a clue, haha.
But I'm now registered on HTC DEV, all videos and content say to select all other supported devices due to the HTC One not being listed, but it is. I'm guessing HTC Dev has been updated since the guides were posted. Shall I click HTC One or still use other devices?
I installed Android Studio and also JDK which it asked for, but when continuing to install Android Studio I got the following message...
Is this detrimental to the use of the program or can I just continue?
Sorry this thread is going to turn into more of a rooting Q&A.
I now have sync manager working correctly and have made a back up on my laptop which I'm happier with than having something floating about in my HTC Account. So I think I'll go ahead and try unlocking my bootloader.
Well I have unlooked the bootloader now. Successfully? Not sure!
After confirming to unlock it then restarted and kept going round in circles, it's now saying "Android is upgrading" running through 253 apps. Nothing like the XDA video where it just restarts as a fresh phone.
I used the HTC One instructions from the drop down menu in the end.
Fingers crossed at the end of that it's working and I can continue to root.
Well considering I have an early start I've stayed up far too long messing around.
BUT! My phone is now rooted, I did attempt putting a venom rom on but it didn't install properly although I seem to have a large ammount of it's features here and there like being able to boot directly to bootloader or recovery from the power button.
But any way the lapcop software I had appeared to be useless, it found 603 images from various emails and programs files none on my actual pictures. I'm not running disk digger which again has found background images but still 85% left to scan.
I'm not holding out too much hope now as there's been a few files added and deleted to root and also reset again to root.
I'll update tomorrow how it went.
I didn't realise how cheap Disk Digger Pro was, so bought and ran that last night. I think it found touch under 4000 images but again mostly PNG program images.
It did manager to find 41 useful images though. It seemed to mainly pick up pictures which I had recently used on facebook, so annoyingly mainly recoverable images through facebook.
It picked up a lot of signatures from various emails and made a lot of duplicates. Not a bad effort for under 2 quid though.

File transfer does not work (keeps falling back to "USB for charging" always)

File transfer does not work (keeps falling back to "USB for charging" always)
Hi,
as the title suggests for a very long time (>1 month) my file transfer does not work.
The only way I can transfer files from PC to the phone is reboot into recovery (TWRP) and there it works normally, but it's a pain in the a...rm.
I've also tried different ROMs with the same effect, although I remember it did work very briefly for one boot cycle before I finished setting everything up and now it doesn't work again.
My suspicion is that some hidden setting that I'm not aware of is in conflict with the file transfer feature. Or maybe Xiaomi doesn't like it when you deny Mi Cloud permissions etc. and that's the way they get back at you, IDK!
Nobody else experiences this? Cause I didn't find too many complaints about this in the forum.
Happy new year and a very good and successful start into 2020, everyone.
If you not sure what cause the problem, just switch to another rom or do a hard reset.

First, do you have the correct drivers installed on your PC to identify your device?
Second, you can always turn on USB Debugging and see if that allows you to use FTP.
Third, if you have turned on USB Debugging, you can use adb push.
If I wanted to transfer Roblox to my phone, I would do this
adb push C:\Users\SenseiCheekClapper\Downloads\Roblox.apk /sdcard
To make it a hell of a lot easier, just type adb push, drag the file into the terminal and it will autofill the file location, and then type /sdcard.

When I have had this problem it has always turned out to be the USB-cable that was the culprit. This phone is very picky when it comes to cable, both for file transfer and Android Auto, at least for me! The original cable doesn't always work all the time for me, but a good quality cable of another brand always works for me.

Saving SMS/contacts from long-dead phone.

Hi,
So i found Sony Ericsson Arc (LT15a) running ice cream sandwich 4.0.4. Which surprisingly still worked.
Poking around i see i had deleted most of the apps, but the app i had used to save my texts was gone. It took a while, but it eventually connected to my local wifi. This is where the problems started
First, it doesn't recognise my google password for that account. actually, it's more complicated than that, it recognised it once and sent a text to my current phone asking if that was me, once i confirmed it. It asked me to log in again and ever since says my password is wrong. So i can't sync nor download anything through the play store or my account
I dug around online and found a syncing program that would install via the USB cable. unfortunately, it seems like the program was bigger than the 60mb i had free. so i have a half-downloaded program that i can't find and delete. i've cleared many caches via the apps menu, but phone storage seems to be almost full despite the fact i've deleted the majority of apps i downloaded.
I then tried the Xperia companion, hoping for something. i tried a software repair which again, only made things worse. i now randomly experience "android is updating" but it doesn't seem to change anything.
The one that really stumps me is i can't view the file directory through my pc. This makes me wonder if the apk it tried to install never worked anyway and that the phone has been trying to download something once it connected to my wifi. The light plugged in is orange, meaning it's only charging. At one point the phone was recognised by the computer but putzing around seems to have screwed that.
i'm literally only trying to pull the text messages off this thing. i can't believe i've tried to jump through so many hoops. Many links i found were dead and I'm kind of stuck Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime I'm trying to find an older laptop I had that may still have the old companion software installed

I'm unable to download, since it's not recognising my google login and so i can't access the google play store.
And i only have 4.3 mb free until i get rid of the half-installed/downloaded items
Sorry, i realised that's also a desktop app. But i still have the same problem. connecting via bluetooth or wifi requires you to have the app on your phone, which i can't do
And the computers i have access to aren't detecting it. it could be a driver issue, but i don't know where to find a safe driver that old
