I have Redmagic 3s (Bought 2019 - India). Phone works just fine and no issues with it. Currently on Build NX629J_V1S_ENCommon_V.217. Android 9.
Nubia has been providing Google Security Patches with latest one begin August 2021.
I used to do lots of custom roms etc many year back. Now lost the touch, but know the basics.
I am looking to refresh my RM3s to Latest Android Version (11 or 12 and even 13 will also do ).
Based on my research on this forum, It looks like that we need to first flash Chinese Stable ROM, then flash recovery and then followed by Other Custom ROMs. Is this correct?
Is there a way to directly Flash a recovery without need for flashing Chinese ROMs? Also which Custom ROM would you suggest? I am looking for completely Stock android.
I am more confused than before on flashing the ROMs. Help is much appreciated.

I bought this Redmi 4X yesterday, it asked for update and I did it. I'd like more of a stock andro experience but I'm not yet sure if I won't lose some camera capabilities (I never had a smartphone with camera that makes people look better before). So I read that Xiaomi gives different MIUI versions to download and supports this fully. But then I learn that "older" version of MIUI that I have (MIUI 7 vs MIUI 8 I have) has newer android 7 compared to my android 6. Why is that?
Is there any consensus on least bloatware on Redmis? Also, is MIUI the same as rom, or it's just an addon installed on top of AOSP? Sorry for asking such questions, but in my case I always understand things after I already have flashed some roms, but don't have any backup phone in case I brick my phone.
Current stats:
6.0.1 MMb29M android
MIUI global 8.5 Stable
8.5.2.0 (Mammied)
Hi
Sorry but did you buy a xiaomi smartphone without take any information about it ??
1st question : will you try to root & install custom firmware ?
If answer is yes, you should first use method to unlock the bootloader.
After that, everything will be so easy !
Hi all,
First up, I have been running 3rd party ROMs on my old Sony Z2 for years (TWRP with Cyanogen then LineageOS).
So i'm semi-experienced with running other ROMs.
I have a Mi 9 global currently running the latest stable official Global MIUI.
The bloat and calling-home by the Xiaomi stock apps is ridiculous, so want off ASAP.
Ideally I'm after a very lightweight, stripped down version of Android with OpenGApps Pico (or equiv).
All hardware working would be a bonus (losing IR and NFC isnt a deal-breaker. Need BT working though).
So what would you guys recommend I run?
Thanks in advance
xiaomi.eu
I bought my mi 9 before 1 week and yesterday I unlocked the bootloader and installed Xiaomi eu , I'm very happy with it and i got 9h of Screen Time on.
I'm in same position as the OP. Waiting 6 more days before I can unlock and also keeping a close eye on the stability of Pixel Experience rom. Currently using it on a Samsung S7 so that will be my first choice.
Xiaomi.eu or Revolution OS are both great Miui roms.
Pixel Experience isn't stable enough for you I guess. But in future it will.
hello friends I have a problem when I unlock my 9 install the twrp that says on the page xiaomi.eu and I liked the rom and wanting to update to 9.6.13 try to enter the twrp and I can not appear the black screen and restart to the rom that I currently have from xiaomi.eu 9.6.5 someone can help me.

I replied to your other post.
Revolution OS > xiaomi.eu (if you don't like constant Softwareupdates - in case you debloat one of those & install magisk mods).
I don't say xiaomi.eu is bad, but I'd prefere to not update my smartphone unnecessarily ("never thouch a running system").

Try Globe Rom, it can be customized by you. You'll like it ?
Do xiaomi.eu and revolution os have widevine l1?
Basically what the title says, I just got a brand new Xiaomi 11T Pro and it came with MIUI 12.5.10. I know MIUI 13 with Android 12 is already available, and in fact the phone is asking me to update it, but I saw that apparently TWRP is (or was?) not compatible with MIUI 13, so...
Would it be safe to update or is it better if I remain in my current version in case a custom ROM is released for the device and it requires TWRP?

No need for twrp to install a ROM.
You will need to unlock the bootloader for a custom rom. and it will erase all your data.
updating or staying in Miui 12 will not change anything, especially since the hypothetical customs roms will be in Android 12.

Alright then, thank you!
You can also just downgrade to any version via fastboot later. I recommend using a GSI rom though, they work pretty well.

It depends on you, android 11 and 12 are basically the same with miui, the only thing you missed is monthly security update.
Hello,
after two month of normal using without any experiments or flashing / rooting my Redmi Note 11 stuck in an endless bootloop similar as descriped here: Xiaomi Note 11 stuck to rebooting into recovery mode 5.0 after unlocking the screen
I was not able to do any recovery so I ended up to wipe all data and now the phone is booting normal and can be used again.
But befor I'm going to start setting up my phone again from the scratch (because Google backup did not work) I would prefer to use a custom rom without all of these ****ty MUI apps like cloud, video and pdf viewer and round about 7 billion other apps which are anoying me with endless popup messages and registration requests.
This will be my first try to install a custom rom but I already found this tutorial: [GUIDE] How To Install A Custom Rom On Redmi Note 11
First of all thanks for the work of this tutorial I think this will help me doing the first steps.
So here is the question:
Is there any working stock Android 13 custom rom for the Redmi Note 11 without any unneccessary extra stuff?
seems that crDroid could be close to what I want: [ROM][OFFICIAL][12.1-13.0] crDroidAndroid 8.x - 9.x [SPES|SPESN]
what would you suggest to me?
thanks and regards
Stefan
Hi Stefen,
Seeing as how long it has taken Xiaomi to get Android 12 to our devices via OTA, and even there it appears most have STILL not recieved A12 via ota and have had to force the update...
It's unlikely we'll see Android 13 / A13 anytime soon.... I reckon we won't see stock Android 13 for at least another year or more...
Not to say we won't get it, as our devices are supposedly supported to A13 and Miui 14.... but based on timescales, we're a long way off yet...
Cheers, Lister
ah ok, thanks for the clarification. I thought Android 13 is possible yet.
So I guess the right question is: is there a clean stock Android 12 for the phone?
Hi Stefan,
No probs, depends on you're build of current official stock rom. The easiest way to find out, is download the Miui Downloader from PlayStore.
Then head to this page, and find the appropriate rom for your current rom.
This Windows app, will also help you find what you need....
Thanks, Lister
I think the xiaomi.eu roms are debloated but it's still miui

Xiaomi.eu performs better than stock MIUI but worse than AOSP custom ROMs. Based on my experience with 13.0,5, it took almost a minute to boot whereas with Evo X 13 and PE+13, it boots half a minute
Can you use stock camera with AOSP roms?

Hello there, i am using redmi note 9/10x 4g currently on miui 13 Android 12 and I wanted to install a custom rom in it.. so anyone could please give me a full guide on start to end.. i have already unlocked my bootloader and k want to install a custom recovery and after that a custom rom.. so please someone give me a full guide for this miui version..
Thanks in advance..
First of all, it depends on what ROM you would like to use. I use Project Elixir which is based on Pixel Experience. The maintainer is no longer active so you rely on yourself. The newest 3.4 version requires MIUI 12.5.4 Global (or EEA if you end up with a soft brick) as it's based on the R vendor rather than the S vendor. You can find all other information either on the GitHub or Telegram group. (Yes, feels weird to use Telegram) Here's the quick guide https://github.com/ProjectElixir-Devices/Wiki/blob/tiramisu/merlinx.md
Redmi Note 9 has a codename merlinx in this case as there's already a Motorola phone with a codename merlin and many people were fooled and got their phones hard bricked. Since this is a MediaTek chipset, you don't have any A/B partitions. If you don't follow the guide or flash the required firmware, you will end up with a beautiful error, maybe even a permanent one. The easiest way for me to flash the ROM from the crdroid recovery was the ADB Sideload method as my SD Card wasn't picked up by the recovery. Make sure you have a reliable USB connection that won't get interrupted during the update. You may find a lot of missing stuff and glitches in the ROM like purple battery indicator when in landscape mode, random freezes, a stock battery widget is broken (Android 13 build issue in general) and so more. There's no custom battery indicator when charging on a full shutdown. You will have a default MIUI one.
