how can I flash Funtouch OS on the China variant of Vivo X70 Pro Plus, please?

It's not possibile.

I can't seem to find video bokeh mode on my X70 PRO PLUS.But most of the video on YouTube showed it's possible. What am I missing ! Also my phone is running most recent version of OS.

@Kotin89 Do you have funtouch or OriginOS version? There may be a difference. Almost all youtubers get the funtouch version.

Thank you for the reply @cmmdmx , I have funtouch OS. I did some digging around and it seems like its only available on the X70 pro and not not X70 pro plus. A very weird decision by Vivo !

Weird indeed, not available in my origin OS version either.
Could you do a quick check of the supported target fps on Funtouch? Vivo has limited 60fps support in external apps, which is a huge letdown.

I'm wondering whether people think it's a mistake to buy the Chinese version of the Vivo X70 Pro+.
I'm an English-speaker living in Italy, and the Chinese version is the only one available; I'd be buying it from Wonda. Compatibility with Italian networks doesn't look to be an issue. My concerns are the usual: bloatware, Chinese interface elements, Jovi instead of Hello Google, etc.
A couple of specific things: will this affect translation across apps (which is generally done via Google Translate)? I need to be able to translate stuff into Italian and Japanese, and from those languages into English.
And I'll need both Nova Launcher and WhatsApp. I do have a family member living in China, so if I have to sign up for things with a local phone number, that won't be an issue. Still, I worry I'm setting myself up for a major headache.

I buy my X70 Pro+ from Giztop eshop. No problems, the phone arrived in Ireland in about two weeks. No Custom payes. But I paid a lot, more than 900 €. Normally I always order from Tradingshenzen, but at that time they only had the most expensive version in stock. Today they are all available and 8 + 256 costs a great 827 €. With duty-free transport.
When unpacked from the box, it was already in the Google Play Store phone and the default English. Of course, there is bloatware (which mobile manufacturer doesn't?). Some Vivo applications are going to uninstall. The problem with Vivo apps is that they are 99% of the content is Chinese and I haven't found a way to change that. Actually, I'm not even interested, they just are there and I don't use them.
Origin OS settings are more difficult to understand. It took me a few days / hours to figure out how to allow various permissions and notifications for Google Play apps. The only problem still persists and that is that the phone does not notify me of received FB Messenger messages. In the settings, you can even click on the options "Default App Settings" and change Google applications to make calls for those from Vivo, etc. It's just still an Android OS. and the superstructure is inspired by MIUI and Oxygen OS for me. Google Assistant works when you press the microphone icon on the Google Taskbar, unfortunately it is written "currently unavailable on this device" for voice activation settings.
You don't need a Chinese phone number. You can create an account on the Vivo website via email and then log in to your phone with a password

@forgreenever Thank you! Very helpful. Sounds as if you don't regret not going with the global version.
Funny, I'm looking at Tradingshenzen now, and all of their X70 Pro+ models come with "Firmware: Multi - GE / EN /FR / ES/..." -- which sure sounds like global? (UPDATE: No, that seems to be the way they describe the Chinese version in many stores.)

Yes, these languages are in the official China Version of Origin OS. Few European languages.
I didn't seen nobody who can confirm languages inside India Funtouch OS
PS: Its actually my first phone with china version OS. And first Vivo and other BBK Electronics phone brands.
X70 Pro+ I choose because these great rated cameras. Its great experience for me. I worked before only with only Xiaomi and Samsung smartphones

I´ve got OriginOS version and I will be selling it.
All Google services work fine (Pay, Store etc.) but Android Auto does not work, battery life is poor and I do not get many notifications from messangers like WhatsApp or Signal (even if I set all permissions and disable battery optimization). The ROM is bloated with Chinese crap that cant be uninstalled and my network connection trough WiFi is very unstable.
The phone itself is great and the camera is amazing but OriginOS is complete trash and just not worth the trouble.

Bloatware can be easily uninstalled through adb command. To receive all notifications you have to remove com.pem.vivo.

I have removed some stuff trough ADB already but honestly I am not at age and mood to fiddle with the new phone anymore just to make it work. AndroidAuto not working and poor battery life is the main reason for me to sell it anyway.
Didnt know about com.pem.vivo though. I´ll give it a shot, thanks!

As far as I know, Android Auto doesn't work in any Android 11 phone if it is not a system app. Will see what is changed with Android 12 which has again different approach (through Assistant).
And the battery life is good.

Considering buying, some deciding questions! *Resolved*

Hello!
Im seriously considering buying this phone. I was just going to buy a new one plus 5t but then I heard about this phone. After much digging around I just had some general questions that would help me decide if I should go for the Redmi K 20 pro or One plus 5T. Since im trying to stay below the 450 price range
1. I heard the usb port isn't actually USB Type C but USB 2.0 for file transfers. Meaning super slow file transfer speeds, is this true/noticeable?
2. I heard theres a missing band. Does this affect LTE use in the US in any-way with T-Mobile?
3. At aliexpress is "global rom version" just xiaomi.eu pre-loaded onto the phone? Im not sure which one I should buy China or "global"
(Found here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/330...chweb0_0,searchweb201602_6,searchweb201603_53)
4. Does the xiaomi.eu version receive stable ota updates, are they based on the updates released officially from xiaomi made for the redmi K20 pro?
Do these updates have any issues? If I must manually update, is it recommended to wipe data before every update? Will I have to reinstall twrp every-time?
5. Is there a stable root/ can I still update with root?
6. Does the phone come with a locked bootloader and do I have to go through a 7 day wait period to unlock it?
7. I noticed there is a theme store. Does that work on the xiaomi.eu version. I wont get a phone without a true black theme option, (not like "google's dark mode" which is just a bluesish gray kind of thing. ) Are the themes comparable to one plus accent colors or substratums themes. Id want a phone that can go true black with the option to make settings/notification panel/dialer icon colors uniform. Something like the screen shots attached:
I know it might seem kind of silly but having some cool themes is important to me. Which is why I like the one plus with its true blacks and accent colors + complete subtratum support. But if something similar is obtainable with the redmi the would be great.
So ya if anyone has any input with these questions that would be fantastic
Thanks so much!

Oh wow. So i guess one plus 5t for me then
Thanks!
I don't know about US. But I live in Canada and currently I have full 4g speeds on Telus/Koodo although I was told that 3g is the max I will get .
Device transfer speeds are better on par than oneplus6 which I use at my work phone.
If you are willing to import the k20 pro, why not go for an oneplus 7 (Not pro) for the same price?
Phone have only Global ROM not global LTE HW! Just wait for Global version ... try this: https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/GB/xiaomi-redmi-855 but there is still CHINA verion only
Lets wait for global version and some ROM without MIUI
It does have usb c port just not 3.1, only a few phones have it such as the OP7 Pro.
Some deciding questions of mine as well ..
I am considering getting the China version for its price, but I need to know that I will be able to switch the OS to the global version, and hopefully flash Pixel Experience in it when it comes out. The former seems already possible (still need confirming if possible, I'm a newbie in all this developer talk); as to the latter, I guess the likelihood is pretty great. Right ?
Or should I just wait and buy the Mi 9T Pro when it's out ? Again, my end result intention is to have this phone running the Pixel Android, and I'd rather go cheap if I can get away with the China version (the hardware being same as global).
1. It's USB 2.0
2. I have T-Mobile, but I'm roaming in China.
3. If you import from China, you'd better choose the global ROM, at first I bought a Chinese ROM version, Chinese MIUI ROM raped me for a whole week.
4,5. I'm on EU ROM now, no need to reinstall twrp every update, you can root, but you should get root again every update.
6. I don't know, I bought it in China with stock locked bl
7. I just checked the theme store, there are some black themes, but in settings, dark mode is enough.

@CollinsB I suffer from the same dilemma, seeing that you've marked the thread *resolved* , what'd you decide??
also i would like to ask one more question, seeing that redmi phones get only one major Android upgrade (I'm using a redmi note 3(L ->M)) do you guys think it would be the same for their new flagship?
because i think op7 would probably get 2 upgrades, it makes the choice a little harder.

Folks , do not buy the fake global ROM version , I Repeat donot. The fake global versions are binded with AliExpress sellers email accounts which means if your unlocked bootloader gets locked accidently and your device is bricked there is no way to go back .
As for Chinese ROM . First there is no issue using Chinese ROM as the English option exists within the ROM and works without a glitch (including play store ) but you can still unlock bootloader and flash the EU or global version on your device .
Check this YouTube video why you shouldn't buy fake global ROM version

Don't own the phone, but i have a poco F1 which is pretty similar. Based on my experience, there will be a lot of custom roms for the K20 so android versions wont be an issue. For US residents, K20 is lacking several bands, in my case it is missing band 4, which is the main band used by my carrier(i live in central america). While you can get LTE on band 5, speeds and coverage will suffer quite a bit. Check the bands your carriers use, if the phone doesnt have them wait for global version.

I decided on the oneplus 5T. I got it brand new for 380.
I'm loving it! :good:
Sorry to bother but are you sure it's usb 2 for file transfer and usb-c for charging?
I was planning to buy the 256GB version but if it's really usb 2 that would be a waste. I don't mind if it's not usb 3.1, I was hoping for at least usb 3
would you mind double-checking?

I have a question too.
Being that the bootloader being unlockable..
Is there a reason we haven't seen any custom roms.?
An issue with sources.
I'm planning for doing development for this device. So this would be a make or break for me..
Thanks

The device hasn't been launched globally yet, and with it's launch set for India soon, im sure a lot of good/cool devs are gonna pick it up.
im counting on that too. It would take atleast a month or so for proper development to begin after launch, i think.

Can Chinese version P40P+ (ELS-AN10) do call recording ?

I am considering selling European version and buying Chinese one. Can the Chinese version do call recording ?
Is it allowed on their androids or android 10 doesn't allow it to any part of the world ?
I don't know, I used to have a Mate 20 Pro (mexican version with carrier firmware), and with the apk for call recording was enough... maybe if there's a way to retrieve the apk from the chinese version (if there's any), it might be possible...

He's talking about Mexican career. I have ELS-N39 not the UK one. I'd like to try but - can you enlighten us a bit why it won't work to spare me of trying ??
Because it's only Chinese variant that it is enabled. In the past when you could unlock the bootloader and change regions, you could change between Chinese and any other area and back and it only works on the Chinese version. It must be restricted in the ROM. I've had Chinese versions with it working, extracted the file and tried on a non Chinese version and it fails installation every time.
I use ACR on non Chinese versions, works ok but callers voice needs turning up.
Try if you want. I'm sure that everyone would appreciate a working version of Huawei call recorder on their phones, it just works perfectly but please feel free to try and feedback to us your findings as this question comes up with every model.
If you do a search, I extracted Android 9 and 10 version to the forum in the past and I can get my Mate 30 pro fired up and extract it again if you want.
In fact here it is attached, Android 10 version from my Chinese Mate 30 Pro. Let us all know how you get on.

Thank you. What you have described earlier, I have done in the past with HTC: change region, easily using XTC tool which would allow me to have NFC, Radio and few features which were disabled on EU version.
Your story is totally believable and true; I was just hoping it might work. I'll try anyway, you know the old say "fulls don't believe anyone"
PS - I do have ACR full pro licensed version, I need call recorder to work perfectly, it's part of my job, so even if I have to buy chinese phone, be it huawei or samsung or whatever...
Btw did you know that call recording is allowed in Italy without any announcement. I am really unhappy that this phone isn't really developed properly for various EU regions.
You could always swap to a mi 10 ultra which has call recorder and a pretty near or as good camera. These have call recorder as standard but like me and many others, flash the EU ROM and get the best software options plus. And you keep the call recorder.
I have both but as Huawei are locking down so much, it tempted me away to a near equivalent but fully and actually encouraged to by Xiaomi to use custom ROMs. Check out the XDA Xiaomi mi 10 Ultra forum

I may consider the mi 10 ultra, I'm in the uk so will it work on our network? Where did you buy it from?

XDA has an active forum at https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra.
For the UK use Wondamobile as they ship to Manchester and then ship to you, so they pay any import duty, delivery in about a week from Hong Kong at a good price, other suppliers out there too.
One of the main issues in the hardware is that it has no band 20 radio. In the UK some operators change their use of band 20 from 3 to 4G, O2 being the main one that may affect you. 5G works a treat as does 4G on all other providers but with O2 and any providers that use O2 network, you won't get 4G from band 20 masts. To be honest, now that most people use 4G, the 3G throughput that it drops down to on these masts is dam good and I don't miss 4G at all. Still get Sky Q out and about via 3G. My second sim is EE and that is fine on 4G, so something to think about before buying.
The stock Chinese ROM has Google but one thing missing on this is location tracing and history. Gpay works fine on the stock ROM.
As Xiaomi encourage custom ROMs, you can unlock the bootloader. As a precaution, once you fully verify your account in mi cloud, and you start to unlock, it makes you wait 168 hours, one week, before allowing you to finish the process. Once unlocked, you can flash the Xiaomi.EU custom ROM if you want, details on the XDA forum or the Xiaomi.EU forum. Paranoid Android may be providing one too at some point. The EU version has done an excellent job on this but it does still have some work to do on CTS profile security but it does have Widevine L1 ( the stock has all security). Gpay too has a temp bug hopefully being fixed soon to but it's ok on Chinese stock and as the custom weekly or stable branches of ROM are based on the Chinese updates.
Have a read before committing. I moved over after being Huawei for a few years but with them locking the bootloader and the Google debako by USA has made me swap brands and to be honest, I am quite happy to do so, Xiaomi are making some dam good customisable phones.

True that, If Huawei allow unlocking the bootloader, then their phones will rock and can be sold with people worrying about Google ban, as there will be many developers out there ready to build many custom rom with Google (GMS) Integrated

Question Change my mind: I bought a Xiaomi Mi 11 but I dislike MIUI

Hi all. I recently bought my first Xiaomi phone taking advantage of a launch offer on Amazon Italy (phone + Xiaomi Mi Smartwatch for 650 euros instead of 830 euros).
I was happy to have a device with a Snapdragon 888 processor, a super camera and an excellent 120 Hz screen but it took a few hours of use to realize that the biggest flaw of this device is the operating system.
I have been using Google or OnePlus phones for years, currently I also have a OnePlus 8 and I must say that the switch from OxygenOS to MIUI was devastating.
Handling background apps and notifications is awful. Often the notifications are not grouped or are identified correctly (those of Telegram are associated with a contact even if they are from another), in the background applications I find the same application several times. Using a "Pixel Experience" theme didn't improve that.
I prefer a device that is more like stock Android than a badly made iPhone.
I think about returning the product to Amazon but I'm here to ask you: why should I keep it? Am I wrong with my approach?
Help me make the right decision. Thank you.

Wellcome to the club
You are on the righ place.
Here you can learn how to customize the hell out of your device. I also use "Nova" launcher and that makes experience so much better for the start. And I apply "viral" custom icon theme pack across all of the apps.
In time developers will start releasing custom roms here that are maybe for your needs and likes. So just be patient and you will fall in love in Xiaomi and the device. No need to return it, it a good device that will just become better in the near future with upcoming updates. There is a 12.5 update coming sometime in April which will have much improvement in many segments.
Weird. After buying why this question?

Ciao compa'
Coming from a Pixel 4XL and yes: devastating.
Using Nova Launcher or installing Xiaomi.eu will solve none of the problems that you are having. Actually Xiaomi.eu, even if based on 12.5, may make experience worts since you'll get Xiaomi apps for browser, dialer, contacts etc. Although Xiaomi.eu does not have the notification problems that you, me and everyone else with a EU Android 11 ROM is having, also on Mi10T phones.
If you contact me via pm I can try to provide some hints to ease the pain...

Question Why so many people wants Funtouch OS instead of Origin OS ?

I didn't buy the phone yet, but before I need to understand why this is so important to have Funtouch OS instead of OriginOS which is present on chinese ROM.
Thanks

Funtouch is based on Android stock, so it's more easy to have Android base update.
Another reason is to avoid chinese stuff and have west countries function (android auto, apps clone, always on full range of notification).

I guess it depends on user's preferences. As far as I'm concerned, I wanted the Chinese phone and so far I'm satisfied. The only downside that bothers me is the lack of Android Auto. But I knew it before I bought the phone and I have one half satisfactory alternative solution.
Other differences are not important for me. But the western model lacks a lot of Chinese functions, which I consider significant, too.
And regarding system updates, I got one yesterday, and it is the second update in less than 2 moths. And before new year, I'm gonna have Android 12 (Originos Ocean).

Do you have the Origin OS?
Because funtouch doesn't lock bootloader like OriginOS and origin is filled with Chinese bloatware it took my 3 days to uninstall it and I switched to nova launcher. 100% don't go for ORIGIN FOR CRYING OUT LOUD they won't even let me do adb debugging to remove their annoying crap

OriginOS is supposed to be the successor of funtouch this is why they are rolling them out for devices made for Chinese markert. However I really dislike it when a manufacturer tries to lock you out of the phone you paid for. This should be a violation of consumer rights but then again you're dealing with a company that operates in a country with no rights so if you buy a phone that is aimed to be consumed by Chinese market you really don't have much to say

General X70 pro+ with Origin OS—Initial Review

A Happy New Year to everyone!
Today, when I received the first upgrade of Ocean OS (for Chinese model V2145A) I was thinking, maybe it's time for a little evaluation of the phone.
First thing first: why the Chinese X70 pro+?
It's not the money. After a bad experience with Trading Shengzheng which delayed the purchase for one month, I bought the phone from Wondamobile, but time was not on my side anymore. Weakened € comparing to $ and high demand for the phone drove the price up, and I paid over €1000.
So why the Chinese one? I needed a new phone and I didn't want to wait anymore, besides the global phone was not a reality, even the Indian one was vague at that time. And I really like Chinese phones, this is not my first Vivo, and before I was a lot on Huawei. They usually offer so much versatility and when you get the hang of Chinese configuration you can really make a phone the western one. And talking about the bloatware, a lot of western made phones are massively contaminated too.
Why Vivo?
I'm a kind of character that cares about freedom, I don't want the technical equipment to dictate me configuration, I want to configure my phone myself as I pleased. I started with Motorola when it was a US company, switched to Huawei after its decomposition and finally found a new company giving me enough space about customization in Vivo. Even their Chinese models obviously adapted to Chinese market are open enough and enable customization beyond any other models I've tried, and believe me, I've seen and tried a lot.
Not to mention the perfect state-of-the-art hardware, frequently upgraded and reliable software and excellent battery life.
So, what comes with the OCEAN OS?
Nothing much for westerns at first glance. You can't find most of the improvements you can see on introductory videos (like:
,
,
) on my phone. Yes, you might find them nice and useful, especially if you're an IOS fan, because the new Origin OS is basically an advanced and more featured version of the last IOS. But if you are staying with the original system configuration, you'll face Chinese letters too now and then.
But all new functional applications (Walkman, health, timer, dynamic wallpapers, notifications...) are easy to remove and that is exactly what I did. As you can see in attached pictures, I'm staying with the old fashion android configuration.
And I'm grateful to Vivo allowing me my own customization of the phone after upgrade.
But getting deeper, a lot has been changed anyway. We are talking about a complete system remake, nearly 7GB heavy. Therefore, it's Android 14, polished, totally new look, a better screen, nicer calling app, more useful camera settings and much more. The Origin Os becomes mature with the new upgrade.
The highlights: Display, Camera, Battery, Design
As you can see, the display really shines, serves it purpose in all conditions, and it's a Samsung's masterpiece of 2021.
What about battery? I must admit, I don't measure SOT anymore. Basically, there are two types of phones regarding battery for me: with sufficient and insufficient battery. In between is a gray zone that doesn't really mean anything.
And where is Vivo with the battery. It sevrves its purpose. That means, that for my type of use it usually last two days, sometimes one and something, but never, really never leaves me struggling with the power during one day. I consider myself as a heavy user regarding internet and apps, but I don't do games and don't use stuff around facebook.
About camera: I'm attaching a few comparison photos from X70 pro+ and from Iphone 13 pro max but Vivo is with the initial Origin OS (no Ocean). I consider Iphone slightly better at that time. But after that came two Oceans upgrade and especially the last one targets camera too. I think that regarding dedicated imaging chip, Vivo has a room for improvement. According to the DXOMark data the most worrisome issue in that matter is a slow autofocus: https://www.dxomark.com/vivo-x70-pro-plus-camera-review-flagship-level-camera/
But, as I said, it's too early for a fair camera evaluation, more shooting has to be done and maybe the new system had improved the camera already.
And design: One of the reason I wanted the Chinese phone is that I'm really fed up with the back glass phones. They are heavy and fragile. I really like my faux leader. And it has a good grip, finally I use the phone without a case (except in longer rough outdoor conditions).
On the other side, the long and narrow shape of the phone is not very stable with one hand manipulation. The Iphone 13 pro max is for example heavier, but one hand navigation is somehow easier.
I used to like larger phones, but I changed my mind. Now I believe that previous 6.56 inches phone screens were just right.

Thanks for the review! I received my Chinese X70 Pro Plus from WondaMobile on 5th January and despite its quirks and spending a good couple of hours over ADB uninstalling apps, customising and tweaking notifications so they work, I'm genuinely over the moon with it. I have to agree with you on the level of customisation too - there is so much of this device you can make your own!
I've not had the Ocean update yet but the beta program is full so I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer for the official roll out!

Wonda pays the tax, there is no import duties at all. And they are reliable. If you want to have a global model, I believe that you can buy it on Ebay now and then. But I wouldn't do that. It's not just a money, when I bought it, it hasn't been cheap at all. It is all about user experience.
Okay, understand. Final question, so you confirm the positive outcome and review? The phone is worth buying? I am considering mi 11 ultra, mi12 pro, OnePlus 9 pro or 10 pro and 70 pro plus. In Italy you have every 5g band but mmwave (26GHz) covered.

Google Pay works, no problem with bank apps or any app installed from GPlay. Just two exceptions: hotword and Android Auto don't work. This is due to the latest Google configuration demanding both to be system apps. Everything else work just fine.
If you are familiar with customization of the phone, you have nothing to worry about. And there are plenty of instructions around.

Guys, yesterday I received the third update since I was on Ocean. This time it addressed better functionality of this party apps among others and implemented January security patch. Although it is beta it appears pretty stable already. I believe that the stable version is very close.
I"m waiting for confirmation and working of android auto. At the moment that is a big issue and Android auto is not working on any Vivo phone. I have seen some posts regarding the X60.

And it won't as long as Google keeps request to be a system app. I believe that it's a total longshot. Hence I started to look for alternative solutions.
One I currently use is involving a intermediate element between the phone and the headunit. I use one old tablet with broken glass for the purpose and it works perfectly with limitations. The limitation is that I must use sip on the tablet if I want to call someone through the headunit and there is no way to accept the call this way.
But all other AA functions works flawlessly (music, maps, streaming) through hotspot from the phone.
In order to have working calling and hotword function I ordered a dedicated mid gadget which supposed to support that. I'll tell more after receiving it.

Android Auto won't work on Vivo devices with Android 11 and up.
It works for example on Vivo X50 Pro Plus because is still on Android 10.
