Hello,
I would like to start by saying that for several years now I have been using only Samsung Note line. I am thinking on switching to a new Huawei phone, and i was wondering if Huawei is using a similar CSC system as Samsung does.
For example, on Samsung, each country/operator has a different CSC, and each CSC enables or disables some embedded features. THL (Thailand CSC) has stock Call Recorder enabled, alongside with VoLTE and VoWiFi.
Recently it was discovered that if your phone has a more restrictive CSC (part of the big OXM CSC group)and if you do a factory reset with a Thailand SIM inside, after reset you have those extra features enabled.
Is there a similar way with Huawei?
Thanks for the support!
I am asking because i noticed that some Huawei phones have the embedded recorder activated on indian phones, while in Europe ... this is deactivated.
The same is similar for Samsung, but reseting the phone with a Thailand SIM does the trick and enables the native recorder (which by the way works flawlessly in Android 9 Pie as well!

You need root in order to have a built-in call recorder. Or, you can buy an app for recording calls from Google Play.
Thanks for replying. I would prefer not to root the phone (actually .. if i am thinking about this now .. i realised that I do not know how it is done on Huawei ... I guess you can revert back to stock and there will be no difference after you un-rooted? I mean .. there is no e-fuse that will trigger when you root it, as on Samsung?).
Also, on PIE, the call recording tools from play store will not work as before, due to Google limitations.
I was interested if the SIM reset will work for Huawei as well mostly, but i will try to get more informed about the other methods as well.
Edit : i saw that unlock code is needed for the boot loader, which leads to waranty void. I would not like to use that for now, but thanks for suggesting.
Install ACR. I have the PRO version, I am not Pie and it works like a charm.
I have used ACR previously on Oreo on Samsung devices and it worked ok. But i am more looking into P30 PRO, which will came with PIE ... so Oreo is not an option for me :|.
Thanks for the recommendation though.
I meant that I am on Pie and it works perfectly. Sorry for the typo.

Thanks for the heads up. I will try now.
Don't trust aka.petteri. It does not work on Pie, this is clearly written. Unless you turn your speaker volume to the maximum and in this case the phone will record from the mic
Same thing here ACR Pro not working.
What the...? I am talking facts. No need to turn it on speaker at maximum volume. All you are saying is nonsense, dude.

For me, ACR Pro is working fine and I am on Pie. No problems. I use it day by day.

Magisk module for EMUI 9 can be downloaded from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-lite/development/mod-callrecord-t3798123
Thanks, but i do not want something that requires unlocking the bootloader.
What i was saying is that for some regions, this is activated by default.
The same is for Samsung, only there, if you reset the phone with a SIM from that region, then you have the inbuild call recorder, without root or unlocking bootloader.
This is what i am searching for.
THanks!
I and my friend bought two Samsung Galaxy A30 devices, oen is showing the built-in call recording feature and the other is not. Let me know how do i get the built-in call recording feature?
I've googled about it, i understand it is stated that due to policies of countries this feature is blocked in some countries and is allowed in some. I am from Pakistan, and there is no such policy here. Also, why it is working in one device and not in another.
Is there any work around to get this with out rooting? I saw one solution for rooted devices of updating a file to enable this feature. But i'll need to root for that. Is there any other solution?
I am guessing one of the phones came from a country that does have a no call recording policy and the other phone didn't? Or at least the firmware originated with call recording turned off.
You are probably at this stage going to have to wait until a way to root the A30 is found imo

Don't be misled by statement above you, Phone call recording works on Samsung devices but in select countries like India and some other few Asian countries. Its a CSC feature, Once you insert a foreign or unsupported carrier SIM its disabled automatically even if the firmware region supports i.e for me I flashed a combination firmware, successfully changed csc to read INS,INS,INS and saw the feature then after just inserting my SIM it disappeared along with Data saver and Sbike and changed to INS,AFR,INS.... that's about it. My phone is not A30 but I assume its the same case.

Thank you.
So there is not any workaround discovered?
Hey,
I have a Note 9 came with original AFG firmware. I have flashed it with an Indian Android 10 firmware and used an Indian SIM to get their call recording feature.
Everything seems to be working as normal with call recording feature available, but I am now not able to use mobile data to update apps from Play Store, download mobile updates and the same with other apps. While mobile data works fine with some apps but doesn't worth with others.
If I use a VPN and set its region to India, everything works fine.
Any ideas? What could be wrong here?
Does it make any difference if I flash my own region's firmware and use Indian SIM to get the call recording?
Thanks
I got a new in box S10 5G that seems unlocked but can't seem to make voice calls with Rakuten Mobile in Japan. I'd seen other Japanese users have such issue with other Android devices and could resolve it by activating VoLTE but no such options seems to exist on the S10 5G as I have it. The current firmware on it is April 2019 but it won't seem to upgrade to the latest automatically. Suspect it is because the box says LG U+ which is a Korean carrier and the updates normally come from there. Is this some sort of region lock issue that I need get a U+ SIM in making the calls for the first 5 mins? Have never rooted a phone before so apologies and bash if necessary, but if I use something like Odin, will that unlock VoLTE options if I update to the latest version and will is disable other features and delete the factory installed apps? Many thanks for any advice and guidance.
Hi I have found this video
apparently there is an option to enable phone recording without losing data. Did anyone try this procedure with note 9?
Apparently not every phone can be able to change this CSC code. I also have note 9 with 2 sins card, will I have be a le to use still 2 sims cards after this procedure?
Please help
Well It's working!
just tried it on my Note 10+ and worked like a charm.
but something I did different, is that I downloaded the last SamFW 4.1 from the website (the GUI is different), and I activated USB-Debugging.
Hi Just came across this and am looking to enable CR on my S21 ultra. Does it affect other applications like revolut ? I dont want to lose access to revolut and i want to change my CSC code to India so i can enable call recording but i dont think revolut is available in India yet ?
