Changing CSC code - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi I have found this video
apparently there is an option to enable phone recording without losing data. Did anyone try this procedure with note 9?
Apparently not every phone can be able to change this CSC code. I also have note 9 with 2 sins card, will I have be a le to use still 2 sims cards after this procedure?
Please help

Well It's working!
just tried it on my Note 10+ and worked like a charm.
but something I did different, is that I downloaded the last SamFW 4.1 from the website (the GUI is different), and I activated USB-Debugging.

Hi Just came across this and am looking to enable CR on my S21 ultra. Does it affect other applications like revolut ? I dont want to lose access to revolut and i want to change my CSC code to India so i can enable call recording but i dont think revolut is available in India yet ?

Enable Volte and VOWIFI on unlocked note 8

Hi,
I've an Galaxy Note 8 (canadian, SM-N950W), buyed directly from samsung, so it's factory unlock and not in any carrier database.
My carrier offer Volte and Vowifi on S7, S7 Edge, and iPhone. I've an Volte capable sim card, and the volte component is activated in my account whit my carrier (i've an S7 edge in my carrier database).
Now, i want to get it to work whit my note 8. I've done many search on the web, and found nothing that work. I've try to get a shortcut for the ims settings, but it said "not found any csc feature", and the apps won't open.
After that, i've thinked about many other alternative, but i'm not sure if it will work, that the reason i'm asking before doing anything wrong and brick my phone. I know all the samsung carrier-specific function is on the CSC. I can just root and edit the config file, but i don't want to void my warranty, and get limited to 80% of charge.
So, another thing i'm thinking, is to flash the s7 edge CSC on my note 8, that already have the volte function enabled on it. Will it work, because it's not the same model?
I've tried too opening my firmware (downloaded from the web for my carrier), extract it, but when it's time to access the csc img.ext4 file, i get a "corrupted archive" from winrar, that let me doing anything.
Any ideas? Thank!

My logic says, surely the easiest way would be to
flash your carriers Note 8 stock Rom with Odin
If this is possible. This way you most likely to keep
everything official. (Knox etc)
I was in a similar situation.
In my case i had a branded Note 8 and
unintentionally flashed unbranded Samsung firmware.
I did not also have volte and wifi calling etc.
No shortcuts work
So i flash my correct branded carrier firmware
All was working again.
I have no carrier branded bloat, as i uninstalled
them.
This for me was the easiest option
Good luck.
Thank for replying willcor
In your case, can you access the ims settings shortcut? And then, enable Volte and get it to work?
Are you rooted? And does the note 8 is officialy supported by your carrier?
FInaly, can i just flash the csc whit odin so i will keep my file, or i need to flash the complete rom, and loosing my data?
Thank!

Firstly, i am not rooted. Stock branded carrier firmware.
As i already had my sim enabled for volte, wifi calling
etc with carrier i re flashed the carrier firmware
Volte appeared "automatic" after flashing. (Short while later ) For me the easiest way.
It was unintentionally that i had flash unbranded
Samsung firmware.
I was originally on branded firmware.
(Vodacom /Vodafone.)
I soft bricked my device while
beta testing.
When i was on this unbranded Samsung firmware
i noticed that there was no volte, wifi calling
and no stock Hiya spam software. etc.
I used QuickShortcutMaker to try and enable
shortcut to wifi calling. No luck.
I'm only suggesting you check this option out
... if possible, then surely it the best way to go.?
Further just flashing to change CSC gave me all sorts of
issues.
I landed up having XEF (France) and my device showing 32 gig storage.! Instead of 64 gig.
then flashing again i landed up on XFE (SAMSUNG)
Sorted storage out to 64 gig.
Then again i Flashed carrier firmware
4 x files ( did not flash home CSC but the other CSC
which resetted device and all is well and knox 0 x0
Bottom line is that
all my previous devices are rooted. So i knew what i was doing.
When i soft bricked my device etc.
so i did not panic.
So i suggest make sure or
look for a relevant video etc on YouTube
if not sure
Yes you are going to lose your data. So do a backup.
Flashing the "home CSC" basically is a dirty
flash.. You don't loose anything.
Which i think is not going to help you.?
Good luck.
Hi,
I've flashed the firmware of an operator that support the note 8, but still not any settings for it in the phone app setting. Can't still access ims setting too.

for me the ,the best option /scenario would be .....
1) Your service provider that you enabled volte ,wifi calling etc with .
2) Further your sim requirements ,for me i had to have sim 64 or higher ( with correct CSC of carrier .)
3) Then obviously that same service provider ( above ) stock Note 8 firmware ,if compatible with your Note 8 model /device etc .
According to what i experience surely , above should be enough to get it enabled .?
Plse note.....
i would not use another carrier firmware etc ,
(as in this case) just because it should have similar firmware .
Try to align your options ,to make it easier .!
This for me should be an key option ,not another provider that has similar functions etc .
Remember you got no root ,would prefer to keep knox 0 x 0 etc .
so your options are limited .?
good luck
Hi,
Still not getting it to work. But today, i've noticed LTE+ icon appear intermittent. It's switch to 3G when i place call.
No any settings of VOLTE.
Can't find any solution to root my phone (snapdragon), because i've the new update. I'm pretty sure it's a way to get it to work, but don't know how. It's just software issues because my operator was activated it in my account.
Hi,
Finaly, after 3 !!! factory reset, gessing whit 3 different carrier, i've activated it, i've it in the settings.
Now, when i make a call, it switch to 4G. I think it's the APN. I know my carrier need 3 apn for the VOLTE, and still have only one. I will try to find the 3 apn setting today.
For the vowifi, i see it in the notification center, a toggle to activate it, but it's do nothing.
I've successfully found the ims, there are 4 for my operator. But i can't find the IMS APN type in the option given in the phone.... How i can enable it?

If you want it to be easier call your carrier and have them add the imei # to their database then the imei will be whitelist and reprovisioned...then you can just use the unlocked firmware or the full carrier Firmware...

I have posted many times with the same info...Several others have as well..
Thanks for sharing though...just search IMS BlueFox721 in XDA search and you will get more info than the video explains as there are other settings to do as well..
Thanks again for sharing
that video and related info is only to add the missing features if you are not on the right csc.
but it wont fix the issue where the carrier is only allowing imei from phones they sell to use these enhanced voice features. In the case of Rogers and others, you can try calling them all you want but in the end they wont do squat to white list your imei. maybe some other providers will yeild to your requests but Rogers is know to not white list non carrier phones.
I successfully got HD Voice turned on and working. But no sign of Wi-Fi calling. I was searching through shortcutmaster and came across a menu where I can turn on wifi calling. It isnt grayed out, however it wont actually toggle over. The screenshot posted is from tapping the menu dots in the top right part of the screen. I assume I need these filled in to enable it. Any ideas on how to populate the right info. Im on verizon, but got the Note 8 from Samsung, carrier unlocked. SM-N950U1

Note 8 Android Pie Quirks

Ok.. so i got my pie update with One UI last night. COOL.. i love it.. laggy at first, after full reset, it works just fine, smooth and fast.. snappy. battery life is great.. However, after using it for awhile and after restoring backup, i have some quirks..
1. Samsung now do not allow SD Card to be used together with both sim cards.. previously i have been using dual sim and SD card via an adapter.. now it just says "SIM Card Tray Slot Problem. There seems to be something in your SIM Card tray slot that doesnt belong there. Check it and try again".
I saw somewhere in this forum, that there is a method that can fix this issue, but i require root access.. DAMN..
2. Call recorders is disabled for third party apps.
Is there a native call recorder in the note 8 android 9? like when i use note 2, i just need to tweak the CSC file and the native call recorder will come out. Is it still present?
If the native call recorder is still present, i am very willing to root my phone.
Samsung pay is just something that i would love to have, but not a must. Call recorder is important.
I travel often, and frequently receive instructions from bosses or customers on what they want, and it is often lengthy.. without a pen and paper, and phone stuck to my ear, i rely on call recorders to record what they want, and then when i am back in office or hotel room, or somewhere quiet, i can replay what they want and work on a proposal to them or quotation. This is important to me and the reason i forked out to buy pro version of the call recorder app i was using previously.
my question is, if some kind hearted person can assist me, is as follows:
1. Is android call recorder still present? will tweaking the CSC file or installing an xposed module bring it back? (thats how i did it on my very old note 2)
2. If i root my note 8, secure folders wont work. Samsung Pay wont work. will masking root allow samsung pay? if not, will i still be able to use samsung pay on my Samsung Gear Sport instead.. currently i use samsung pay mainly on my samsung gear sport anyway.
Yup call recording is still there. I've installed HadesRom and seems to enable it.
-Yes, if you root your phone you'll lose Samsung Pay and Secure Folder forever since it triggers Knox. I have no idea if you can still be able to use Pay with your smartwatch.

Do I need to root now? Didn't have the need to do it until now

Yeah, you would probably have to root your device and mod a file in order to get that feature back.

You can use Solid Explorer to make encrypted folders (with fingerprint unlock if you want). You can even make the secure folders on your sdcard.
Is root now available for Pie? Last time I checked, if you have Snapdragon and upgraded to Pie you lost root since it's bootloader 5 and the highest bootloader that has root is 3. If you have an Exynos, then a Knox is tripped and you can never have Samsung pay again.

You don't need to root your phone. Just change your region to THL or INS or XXV, it'll give you native call recording with SPay. I've changed my CSC from XSG/CAC/XSG to THL/CAC/XSG and call recorder is working great.

I guess you could install another regions OS onto your device. Just make sure that the model numbers match.

Still not for Snapdragon, as far as I know, but it is for Exynos. I've seen some custom ROMs claiming to have Samsung Pay working, but I can't verify that, as I don't use or even care about Samsung Pay, despite it being used and supported in my country.

There isn't any pie firmware that 2 sims and sd card option will work. Apparently Samsung put in a check for that and disabled it.
You'll have to go back to oreo for now.
Or root your phone (Warning: this will remove Samsung pay, secure folder for good) and change out a service.jar file.

Android pie for note 8 comes with its own call recorder. To activate it go to call settings. That option is right in front if you.
The SD card problem is still there I think. I have the same problem.

Here we go again. It's not there. It's controlled by csc. Mine is in xme, which doesn't allow call recording.
Anyhow I flashed custom Rom, got native call recording to work (still don't appear in the settings though) and samsung pay to work via my gear samsung gear sport.
And my Dual SIM with sdcard works now too.

Call recording is present, but you will loose hybrid sim as Samsung has blocked it in PIE Update.
After updating to PIE, i'm note able to use hybrid sim slot on my Galaxy Note 8. When i insert hybrid in Galaxy note 8 Pie, POPUP appears says sim card tray slot problem, but phone has read both behind and memory card. Pop does not get disable and stuck on the screen. Forcefully i need to remove the slot and reverse back to 1 sim and MC

Call recording is locked by csc. Been this way since samsung note2 or even before. You may have it due to your csc does not lock it.
As for dual sim and sdcard, yeah that's true. You'll need to root your phone or install a custom rom.

Is Huawei using a CSC system as Samsung? Could you enable the stock Call Recorder?

Hello,
I would like to start by saying that for several years now I have been using only Samsung Note line. I am thinking on switching to a new Huawei phone, and i was wondering if Huawei is using a similar CSC system as Samsung does.
For example, on Samsung, each country/operator has a different CSC, and each CSC enables or disables some embedded features. THL (Thailand CSC) has stock Call Recorder enabled, alongside with VoLTE and VoWiFi.
Recently it was discovered that if your phone has a more restrictive CSC (part of the big OXM CSC group)and if you do a factory reset with a Thailand SIM inside, after reset you have those extra features enabled.
Is there a similar way with Huawei?
Thanks for the support!
I am asking because i noticed that some Huawei phones have the embedded recorder activated on indian phones, while in Europe ... this is deactivated.
The same is similar for Samsung, but reseting the phone with a Thailand SIM does the trick and enables the native recorder (which by the way works flawlessly in Android 9 Pie as well!

You need root in order to have a built-in call recorder. Or, you can buy an app for recording calls from Google Play.
Thanks for replying. I would prefer not to root the phone (actually .. if i am thinking about this now .. i realised that I do not know how it is done on Huawei ... I guess you can revert back to stock and there will be no difference after you un-rooted? I mean .. there is no e-fuse that will trigger when you root it, as on Samsung?).
Also, on PIE, the call recording tools from play store will not work as before, due to Google limitations.
I was interested if the SIM reset will work for Huawei as well mostly, but i will try to get more informed about the other methods as well.
Edit : i saw that unlock code is needed for the boot loader, which leads to waranty void. I would not like to use that for now, but thanks for suggesting.
Install ACR. I have the PRO version, I am not Pie and it works like a charm.
I have used ACR previously on Oreo on Samsung devices and it worked ok. But i am more looking into P30 PRO, which will came with PIE ... so Oreo is not an option for me :|.
Thanks for the recommendation though.
I meant that I am on Pie and it works perfectly. Sorry for the typo.

Don't trust aka.petteri. It does not work on Pie, this is clearly written. Unless you turn your speaker volume to the maximum and in this case the phone will record from the mic
Same thing here ACR Pro not working.
What the...? I am talking facts. No need to turn it on speaker at maximum volume. All you are saying is nonsense, dude.

Magisk module for EMUI 9 can be downloaded from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-lite/development/mod-callrecord-t3798123
Thanks, but i do not want something that requires unlocking the bootloader.
What i was saying is that for some regions, this is activated by default.
The same is for Samsung, only there, if you reset the phone with a SIM from that region, then you have the inbuild call recorder, without root or unlocking bootloader.
This is what i am searching for.
THanks!

Question Dual Sim plus health monitor (ECG, etc) impossible?

I just got a new S21 Ultra dual sim Latin American variant, because no US version dual sim Samsung exists. I have a US Version Galaxy Watch 3 that pairs nicely with it, except when the health monitor app on the phone tries to open for the ECG I get an error saying that it is not available in my location. I verified with Samsung that this is because the phone is a non US variant and there is no way around this limitation (according to them), even though ECG is cleared for use in my home country (USA).
So an idea I am exploring now is to send this phone back (still in return period) and buy a UK variant dual sim S21 Ultra. My reasoning is that ECG is cleared for use in UK and apparently the health monitor app is working for the UK. I asked Samsung tech support and the agent said I would not be able to get through the health monitor "onboarding process" from a physical US location using a UK origin device. She didn't think using a UK IP VPN would help any, but she didn't seem sure. Still it seems like a legit idea to me ... the phone is from an "ECG cleared" country and I live in an "ECG cleared" country. But does logic apply with Samsung . . . I am not so sure anymore.
Do you think this idea would work?
Any other ideas of how I could end up with a dual sim S21 on which the health monitor app (ECG, etc) would work . . . that wouldnt risk bricking my phone?
Many thanks in advance for any help.
So here is a second idea to run past the experts here:
change CSC (currently set to TPA ) to XAA using method in this link:
Change CSC on Samsung Devices | Guide | iHax
Looking for a way to change CSC/Country Specific Code on your Samsung Galaxy device? Here's a quick guide on how to do it easily.
ihax.io
I actually pulled up that radio button screen to see what it currently was, but I chickened out of changing it
1) would this change make my dual sim phone a single sim phone?
2) is there a chance it would be impossible to revert back to TPA if the change caused problems?
3) any chance this change would brick the phone?
4) since I have 2 imei numbers, what is the result of making this change on only one imei?
5) do you think this change would solve the problem of not being able to start up and "onboard" the health monitor app?
Changing a csc from dual sim variant to dual sim variant shouldn't have any impact on IMEI. Almost no chance to brick the phone.
CSC just define preinstalled apps and features (ECG, call recording...)
I would say its worth the try but I can't guarantee anything

thanks for that. Actually Id be changing CSC from dual sim variant (Latin America) to single sim variant (USA). Do you think that would cause issues ... like break the dual sim functionality?
So I backed up and looked at this complete mess Samsung has me in trying to kludge their products into working after I paid a hefty price for them and I made a decision. Im still in the return period on everything. So everything is getting boxed back up for return (chargers/watch/phone/cables/etc). Im going to take that money and put it into a dual sim Iphone12 and Apple Watch 6 which apparently works very well in the USA right out of the box with no complicated hacks. Been awhile since I hitched myself to the Apple Wagon ... we'll see how it goes. So long Samsung. RELIEF!
so i tried the iphone for awhile and I just couldnt do it anymore. so the new iphone went to the wife, and i got a Note 20 Ultra (Tmobile brand) today and the dual sim (using esim) does work . . . BUT
1) you have to endure Tmobile unlock policy nonesense
2) the dual sim functionality isnt as finely controlable as iphone or dual sim androids. you select one which of the esim/sim will be "primary" and it will use data. so you cant have the physical sim as the data user and the esim as the primary voice/sms line.
annoying , but not insurmountable issues.
not a bad phone, but the bronze color is actually more like a pink. a big plus for some would be the expandable memory.
a HUGE con is the price . . . 1300 USD
apparently ONLY the TMobile branded us version Note 20's have the esim enabled.
Have you checked the watch does not have to be from a country that supports ECG feature not the phone?
I cannot confirm whether or not the country of the watch itself has any effect. All I can say for sure is the phone has to be a version from a country that supports the ECG feature.

Question Enable call recording in default Phone app

Hi all,
I have a Samsung S21 Ultra SM-G998B/DS (bought from the United Arab Emirates) but now I'm using the phone in Srilanka, I got to know that the call recording feature is excluded in the UAE version of the firmware. Can you please help me to get the call recording feature to the default Phone app?
I search in the forum and found this thread. I want to do a similar thing, If I flash the current firmware with the stock firmware for my country will it work ?
Or is there any simple way to get this call recording functionality in the app ? like modified Phone apk ?
Thanks

Does the XID CSC change affects the phone ? I mean the phone still remains a dual SIM phone?
Also, volte and WiFi calling are still there to XID CSC?
