I picked up my nexus after hiking, found it froze on a screen and VERY hot. I pulled the battery, let it cool, and now its stuck at the boot loader.
I can access fastboot, but i can not get into recovery.
i tried:
1) reflash revocery via fastboot - no go
2) Tried to restore nexus to stock by
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img - All flashed, but still end up in a stuck bootloader
Phone is STILL stuck at bootloader screen. Any help? I had the phone for only 3 months. I dunno if HTC will cover it. Honestly i don't even know what went wrong besides it overheated
So I'm restoring my old Nexus 6 that is being sent back for RMA and I encountered an issue. I have flashed things so many times I should remember how to fix this, but I haven't encountered it since my Nexus 7. I flashed all of the images and wiped the userdata as per the usual order. Everything boots fine until I lock the BL. When I re-locked the BL and restart the phone it goes to wipe its self and encrypt. The issue is that the stock recovery which it boots into during this process just has a android with a hexagonal floating blue orb in his chest and sits there for what seems like indefinitely. Its been sitting like that for a hour or so now and when I check what its doing using the "hold power press and release vol up" it says formatting data. I also tried booting into the stock recovery via the BL menu and its doing the same thing. I tried both 5.0 and 5.01 images with the same result. The last time I did this I didn't encounter this issue. I just want to make sure it boots normally so I can send it back in. If I unlock the BL it boots just fine after I format userdata and cache, but it won't go past the above mentioned state when I lock it.
This is what I did as far as fastboot flashing goes (LRX21O) the 5.0 stock rom:
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-shamu-moto-apq8084-71.05.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-shamu-d4.0-9625-02.55.03a.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot format cache
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot
I'll try to re-download both images to see if maybe something changed but its odd because I have done this so many times its second nature. I think the issue lies with the encryption because I was unencrypted before and maybe it just takes forever.
Edit: after 2+ hours of it sitting there the phone finally booted. I thought it would never go past that screen but I guess encryption just takes forever.

After all of this, did you test the recovery? I've been having the same issue today, but my recovery still isn't coming up. Every time I try, I still get the dead android with the triangle in the belly, but I am booted up and running.
Hello,
I have the following problem. I unlocked the bootloader with the MI Unlocker after I waitedf freaking 360h.
I then tried to flash Xiamoi EU Rom - something didn't work as expected and I tried to flash the offical rom from miui com.
During the fastboot flash the phone stuck and screen go black. I tried to power off and power on but it doesn't react to anything
Fastboot shows the device as ????????..if I try a fastboot reboot FAILED (Write to device failed (Unknown error)).
Any ideas what I can do to fix this?
Well, explain the steps you did please.
Skickat från min MI 9 via Tapatalk
As I wrote I first unlocked the bootloader
Installed TWRP and flashed the EU ROM from xiamoi.eu.
Since Google Pay wasn't working on this one either I wanted to return to the global image EEA.
So I downloaded the offical tgz with the flash_all.bat in fastboot mode..
It started but stuck at the elf file..screen went black and since that the fastboot only shows ????????
I tried holding power for 10, 15,30.up to 2min..it didn't turn of the LED is blinking when hitting the power button.
Thats all

As written it won't turn off..it is not responding to power button - only LED is blinking when I press it or keep it pressed..think this crappy phone died.
Just to be sure... Did you press volume down + power?

Download FASTBOOT ROM from the official site and unzip it.
After charging the phone for a while, press and hold the Power button and Volume +-button for a few seconds.
If FAST BOOT starts, flash the unzip FAST BOOT ROM with the following command:
Some of the commands may end in an error, but ignore it and proceed to the end.
Try it. Wish good luck.
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img
fastboot flash dummy dummy.img
fastboot flash logo logo.img
fastboot flash metadata metadata.img
fastboot flash misc misc.img
fastboot flash persist persist.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot reboot
Thanks for the suggestion but you may overerad the one important point..I tried already ...
it doesn't responds to power button press in any way except the LED is BLINKING at that moment i press it.
I have tried Power + Volume+ and - nothing really nothing happens..the battery is fully charged.
Well I return it and fill RMA.

If u are able to boot to fastboot mode then try flashing the stock firmware of phone from mi flash tool and then try installing twrp from start.
