Question Mi 11 Android 12 Hard Brick (12.5.1.0.SKBMIXM) - Xiaomi Mi 11

Hello,
I tried to update to Android 12 to see the new functionalities, I've done it quite some times so I knew what I was doing. But actually... I came accross a big problem.
After that I wanted to go back to the Android 11 version, and so I launched Twrp again, but it didn't boot the same way it usually does. No asking for password, no changing language available, and no data visible on phone (where you choose to install magisk for example)
And so I searched a way to reboot the phone seeing I wasn't able to do anything... but the fun comes after. In that new version, the power button doesn't reboot/stop the phone anymore, it's done with that accessibility pop-up you got on the menu. So, I was stuck inside Twrp.
I fount a reboot section, and I tapped on it, but it seems it wasn't the actual reboot..
Now I'm stuck with a black screen, phone doesn't start, no fastboot, no recovery mode available whatsoever when I press the combination of Volume +/- and power button. Pressing the three for a minute didn't help either. I tried everything.
My phone is apparently stuck in EDL mode, beeing recognized as COM3 on my computer.
I tried flashing it with XiaomiFlash, with the Android 11 12.5.9.0 SKBMIXM version but either it says the phone doesn't answer, or "write time out" or something.
My photos are saved on google and my app are mostly games that are linked with google account so I pretty much doesn't care about factory resetting I just want the access back now.
Is there a free solution I can do by myself ? (not going to give the access to some random telegram guys I don't know, I have read some messages)
As it's detected by the PC there is something that might be done, but that's not in the territory of things that I know sadly..
If someone can help, that would be immensely appreciated.

Global A12 is the bricked rom of the year.... There praticaly any problem with the chinese A12.
Bad news, you will paid approximatively 25/30 $ for unbrick your device, it's the only possibility, because only a certified xiaomi account can unlock EDL on your Mi account.
Good news, if you want try A12, Xiaomi.eu A12 is out, MiuiMix also... And it's really more safe.
I PM you a link for a Unbrick service

So something similar happens to me, if that's what you are referring too, TWRP gets stuck on a12 it won't respond when TWRP is injected and you want to go to recovery since it won't decrypt you will see that it shows 0 on internal memory and With the touch screen not responding, so you have to keep the power button press for awhile for it to reboot, TWRP will work but only when you boot to it from fastboot. That's how I been able to flash CN beta a12, Xiaomi EU a12, and stock Global a11(not beta version) I went back and forth yesterday from Xiaomi EU Stable, to CN beta to Xiaomi eu beta and back to Xiaomi eu Stable.

Yeah it's what happened to me, but I tried pressing the power button for a long time (1 minute or so) and nothing. Did you do it longer ?
My phone isn't actually detected by ADB or Fastboot, only EDL (COM3)
Idk if that's any recoverable..

Nothing, impossible if you don't have a certified account and only people working for Xiaomi have this account

Good to know, if I need those service will totally let you know thanks !

There is no solution except through EDL mode, through a person who has access authorization.
Unfortunately, I also went through this. The problem is that the phone is repaired by connecting the platform to your computer through a "vewever" program.
After this procedure I was hacked through my AMAZON account. I assume my passwords and passwords were stolen.
That's why it uses a computer that doesn't store data, especially the browser.

Bricked Redmi K20 Pro, stuck in Recovery Bootloop

After trying all kinds of roms from here, I decided to go back to basics and flash a global stable ROM.
In the Mi Flash software I forgot to check the "Clean All" button, and left the default(I don't know why this is the default) "Clean All and lock"
Now, I'm stuck in a recovery(can go to fastboot as well) bootloop, can't even turn it off unless the battery dies. It says at the bottom : "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device"
I'm unable to flash it again using mi flash, unable to unlock it again as it gives me a weird chinese error, that translated, it think it says : "This phone has been used by account 622****418, by looking for phone lock"
Unable to boot into EDL, tried with a deep flash cable(seems it is not supported anymore)
I didn't open it, as I still have warranty(just bought it 3 weeks ago).
USB Debugging and OEM unlock are off as it was just flashed so it has default values.
The account on it is mine, but apparently mi Unlock is not recognizing it. My Mi account has different digits and I have permission to unlock the bootloader since last year.
Is there any way that I can go around this ?
I'm thankful for any advice that you have, guys...
Your device is most likely permanently bricked - when the bootloader is locked with a global ROM on a Chinese Xiaomi phone, nothing can be done to fix it - except one thing.
Are you sure you're booting into EDL mode correctly? I think you need to short two points on the main PCB while plugging in a USB cable. Xiaomi has a proprietary implementation of EDL mode - IIRC you need special Xiaomi software and a Mi account with the appropriate permissions (you can beg Xiaomi for permission on the Mi forums, or buy a working account from someone online). In EDL mode, you can re-flash the China ROM and recover the device.
Most likely, that's what I'll have to do, but I wanted to consume every chance and tutorial online before I remove the Back glass...SO it's Service Center or Test Point with auth accounts, which it's hard to get. I rather pay. Just wanted to make sure that it's bricked from my perspective, like I can't do anything to fix it from my end. Thanks
There is nothing you can do, the bootloader is now locked and you are on a rom that's not matching.
I used the Russian tech reported in one of the other threads about bricked k20 pro, costed me $20 and I needed to open up the phone, and do test point edl which were all easy and well worth it to save the $650 AUD I paid for the phone.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/help/destroyed-error-fastboot-locked-t3946012/page6
just add him on whatsapp and be nice to the tech and he will help you. I saw other posts if you ask him like an ass then he will ignore you.
I definitely don't want to open the phone. If it comes to that, I rather pay someone to do everything with proper tools and software.
You know, try to get in touch with xiaomi support. Explain The case and maybe they unlock it for you from there.

Did you find any solution without edl method? Cause currently I'm facing the same problem.
The only solution here is to go into EDL Mode, if you dont have an authorized mi account, I recommend s-unlock.com they have an automated service and their own tool to flash your phone, go check them out. If you have doubt opening the phone, it isnt hard. Just use playing card first and dont remove it, then find an old credit card to continue further gently.

After removing the back of my phone and fixing it with the help of an awesome dude from Japan found on whatsapp...I tried to unlock my bootloader again, and realised that the account I had in my phone was not the one that I was entering on miUnlock. I couldn't see that because the error message at 99% was in trad Chinese.
Maybe it would've worked if I knew that. If you go into Fastboot and try to unlock it, what message do you get?

MI8 Brick

Hi there,
unfortunately I bricked my Mi8 during a ROM Flash. I could not see the options as they were "hidden" because of the resolution of my screen. And unfortunately the standard option seems to be "lock", so it did and now I cannot flash any ROM anymore.
Is the method with opening the phone and get in touch with a doggy service to unlock it still up date?
Is there anything I could do? Will Xiaomi help me if I write them an email?
Help would be much appreciated.
Well, not knowing what you flashed and how you did it, it's hard to give an advice.
Can you boot to recovery, fastboot?
If you want some "output" you have to give more "input".
Is you phone recognized if you connect it to the pc? Perhaps you can revive it with mi flash and a complete rom (tgz). Be aware of the danger of relock!
I know I did a mistake as i flashed it wrong as I did not choose the correct setting (just clean instead of clean and lock). I did not see the options when I did the flash as they were "hidden". The Bootloader is locked and therefore I cannot flash another ROM.
I can get into fastboot, no problem. But I cannot load a ROM (Bootloaderbis locked).
I do wonder if there is any way instead of opening the phone and get in touch with a commercial unlocker service.

Wipe data and try again. What's the issue with "resolution of screen"?
Why would the wipe help? I guess all data is errased anyway because iIflashed a fastbootrom via mi flasher. The problem was that a portion of the program (mi flasher) was hidden, the part on the bottom where you choose which flashmethod. Therefore standard is lock device and that happened...

Just try to unlock bootloader again. If it is not possible, you have to contact with someone who has Xiaomi account authorization.
Yeah, like the s unlock service. I think their my last chance after reading through the internet. Not looking forward to open my phone. pfffff...

Is your device a Global or Chinese device and how long ago did you buy it and where from? If the bootloader was unlocked when you attempted to flash whatever you flashed then it was unlocked by someones account. Are you saying that you did not unlock it?
If you did unlock it yourself, then you can unbrick it. If someone else unlock the bootloader you should try contacting that person to get their id and password to unlock the device again, and then you can remove their account from the device and replace it with yours.

Since you have fastboot
You need to download the fastboot rom for whichever device you own. Also, your phone must be clean, you will lose all data.
Mi8 Global Rom: https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?device=1700346
Chinese Mi 8 Rom : http://www.miui.com/download-345.html
Unpack the Rom, on your desktop and then place your phone into EDL Mode or fastboot. - The fastboot Rom comes with the Fastboot flashall script, it will fully restore your phone to the a Stable Rom and Overwrite every partition..
If you unpack the rom and it unzips into a larger version of the rom, unpack the new unpacked larger version, it will unpack into a folder, inside the folder local the flashall.bat file and with the phone connected double click it and wait 5 to 10 minutes until it reboots by itself, you will see the screen to connect to wifi, and then to add you account credentials, enter credentials, enjoy your restored phone.

You don't, ( well not anymore) you only pay someone to unlock if you do not have your account bound to the device. The person that you would pay has a vendors master unlocking account, these are very limited and these people are mostly located in Russia and Vietnam.

Hi there,
that brings some light into the darkness, although I am did not completely understood all you wrote.
1. I bought the device used in Germany and it is the German version. It was unlocked and I installed Havoc OS which worked fine. Then I thought I should update Havoc OS and that'S what I did. This ended in a Bootloop. I went into the Recovery and it was kinda weird as it asked me in chinese to enter my pattern. I did and after that the touchscreen stopped working. Still could get into recovery and also install a new one via fastboot. But same problem. Then I googled and as I understood the solution to other people was an earlier MIUI ROM which I installed via the Mi Flash tool and here I am chosing the wrong selection for the flash and ending up in a brick.
2. I don't have the device connected to my MI account. So I guess I need someone with a vendor account? S Unlock also offers a software (one has still to pay) which works without the help of someone logging into and using e.g. Teamviewer. (at least that is their claim)
3. I cannot connect the device with MI flash and therefore no flash of a ROM is possible which brings me to
4. In any case, I for sure have to ****ing open the phone and play with the EDL Touchpoints? Right?
If one has any further ideas let me know, I am really fed up with this ****.

Okay that better explains your real issue
You had an issue with the lockscreen, which could had been resolved by removing encryption ( formatting user data ) by using ADB or using the Tool All in One. ) Unfortunately, you misunderstood what the issue was and flashed a rom without unchecking unlock bootloader.
Since the bootloader has been relocked, you may need the original account info that unlocked the bootloader. ( If it's still bound to the device) If possible contact the person that you bought the phone from and get their account, then you can use the steps that I listed above by placing the phone into EDL.
If you are asked for a Mi account password, after restoration, then the phone is absolutely still bound to the previous owners account.
You do not necessarily need to open the phone :
You can probably use ADB to place the phone into EDL mode : adb reboot edl
You can use an EDL cable Such as this one
On some phones it is possible to enter EDL by pressing and holding the power button and the volume up and down simultaneously, you can very that the phone is in EDL by connecting it to your PC then go to Control Panel/System/ports <<<< Here you will see port 9008, that means you are in EDL mode.
After installing fastboot rom via flash all.bat method
After connecting to WIFI, you may be asked for the Mi Cloud account (if linked) If so contact the previous owner for that account info, then once the phone has gone through setup, remove the account from the phone in settings/Backup ( It is also possible that the phone is not bound to a account) If no account is linked then you will be able to link a new account and then wait 72 to 360 hours to be able to re-unlock the bootloader.
If the phone is bound to a previous user,
The only option is to use a reputable service company who has a master unlock account. if this is indeed the case, you should try contact Xiaomi and see if they can recommend someplace close to where you live.
@berndbrecht
I just found out via the Mi-Globe website that a XDA member has an official Xiaomi Unlock account and the price is extremely fair: I would suggest contacting @NikSalsa
You can read the same article that I did here : https://mi-globe.com/unbrick-your-xiaomi-phone-without-authorized-mi-account/
Also, there are a couple of additional options listed , if you have trouble reaching NikSalsa

Hard Bricked Mi9 Global

So have I done something that apparently no one else has on XDA.
Hard bricked my Mi9?
I have heard that you cannot go back from Miui 11 to Miui 10 on China based models or try an install a rom with a locked bootloader.
None of those things are the case here as this is a global Mi9 purchased within New Zealand.
None of the usual tricks work. No battery light black screen no input response from buttons.
Appears like a total hard brick an I have no idea why. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with hard bricked Mi9s that have bricked for no reason after I did standard things an the bootloader was unlocked?
what about edl ? do you already try it?

Connect the charger, hold all the buttons (except the AI one), until you feel the phone vibrate or at least see the battery charging LED blink.
Don't let go after 5-10 seconds, but keep holding for 30+ seconds. See if anything happens.
a while ago i bricked my mi9se (because of lazyiness while flashing wrong android rom version with a wrong twrp without changing twrp version before).
so fastboot or recovery not worked. EDL mode was only enterable with contact/test point method -> opening back, connect the two points, connect usb cable. (you have to look on youtube for the right contact points for mi9).
so i entered EDL mode, but:
you have to have a authorized xiaomi account to flash something, and a special xiaomi tool to do that. no chance to skip that. believe me.
on older xiaomi devices you maybe can flash something on your own in edl mode. not so on newer devices like the mi9se, and presumably also on mi9.
you have to have your phones back removed, and look for somebody on the internet with a authorized xiaomi account. there are some ppl out there, which maybe can unbrick your phone in EDL mode via teamviewer for a charge around 15 to 25 bucks.

When you connect the phone to the PC , go to control panel and then under device manager, Com ports you should see Port 9008. if so you are in EDL mode. As long as your phone is bound to you ( you have the needed credentials to sign into MiCloud, you should be able to restore your phone.)
I do not have the mi9 Yet. I have a Mi8 and I am considering a Mi9
Try flashing the global fastboot rom for your device.
IMPORTANT >>>>>>> It must be a fastboot images rom and not a regular recovery rom<<<<<<
Use google for the absolute latest build, I spent 30 seconds just now and found this page which as it linked : https://xiaomifirmware.com/roms/download-official-miui-roms-for-xiaomi-mi-9/ You want/NEED the one called " 11.0.3.0 QFAMIXM | Fastboot | Download"
Unpack Rom twice on your desktop, ( Its double compressed, must be unpacked twice.)
Open folder and you will see a folder that is called Images and a series of batch files.
With phone connected and in EDL or fastboot , double click "flashall.bat" Do not choose the file that asks to lock the bootloader , if it exists) This batch file will restore every single partition from the folder called images.
When it is finished the phone will reboot, sign into your wifi, and then Mi Cloud account and begin setup.
Be sure to make a Twrp backup and save it to your desktop.
You are welcome, enjoy your phone.
PS: if this fails you may need to buy a deep flash cable from Amazon, they cost $6 to $20
https://www.amazon.com/Flash-Cable-xiaomi-Models-Engineering/dp/B06ZYG46VZ Another option is using a program called QPST
If this helped you, you are welcome to buy me a beer, via my paypal. If you can afford to do so.
Tried button pushing advice an no luck. Will try this but am pretty sure surgery is probably my best option.
Thanks for trying to help. 11.0.3.0 is an excellent rom an I've had success several times with soft bricks as it bricked in a bootloader loop with the little Xiaomi cartoon thingy.
I might try your suggestion with both my miflash set up an my miflashpro set up ?

I read something a bit before this. I am in the same spot some of you guys are in. Apparently they disabled edl authentication. . . However I am still searching around.

Redmi 8 stuck in TWRP

Hi
I'm pretty new on rooting devices, i did some times by the past on samsung s3 or iphone 3gs , after getting our water from the well.
But now i'm stuck. I install TWRP with minimal ADB, it goes pretty well, and then i decided to flash and install Lineage 17.1 . I did it by the book, put the img file on the phone, reboot on TWRP, selected my file and voilà, it flashed it nice, but when i reboot it boot straight to TWRP . There's no ways i can get past it.
Tried to reflash, reinstall Lineage but it 's still stucked.
What can i do to fix that ? i saved my personal datas but nothing else
Thnxs
Ok don't bother
I bricked my phone .
I tried to reinstall sotck rom , i downloaded a Global version , flashed it with MiFlash and it said " this MIUI can't be installed on this device " afterwards on the stock recovery screen
Can't Unlock the bootloader , can't do anything just because of a godammn "clean and lock all" box ticked by default. F*** It . IT was supposed to be a global version of the phone, why couldn't i reinstall a global stock ROM FFS ?
I am not using MIUI. Installed HavocOs. When I was using MIUI 4gb ram was always 50% occupied. But that never was problem. Old apps were open in background. In such a phone 4gb ram is sufficient. So I would say ram management may not be good as it always occupied 50% ram even if no apps were running. But never felt that running apps were stopped. can easily keep 4-5 apps(lite apps).

If you have checked clean and lock then your phones' bootloader is probably locked. Would you mind telling current status of you phone in details? Like:
1. does the phone show "Redmi by Xiaomi" logo while boots;
2. Is there unlocked written while it boots;
3. does the phone boot properly to stock rom (or whatever rom is);
4. does it have stock recovery.
5. What version of rom you flashed?
thank you.
Hi and thxs for the reply
so in proper order
1) Yes
2)No no more Unlocked at bootscreen (because of that ******* ticked box
3) No, it can't get past recovery. I was stucked at TWRP when i install Lineage (never had the chance to taste it) , now it's stuck at stock recovery
4) All I get is the 3 choices screen ( Reboot / Wipe Data / Connect with PC MIUI (the software management))
5) After lineage , i tried to flash Global ROM but after cheecking with the IMEI , it appears that i have a chinese version . IF Only i had taken the time to double check that , i bought the phone from a legit site (Not Gearbest and stuff). I think it was based on android 9.0
I 've dl Chinese ROM , Recovery and Fastboot , Now the phone has the back open , tried the pin contact, , it's recognized as Qualcom Port 9008 , so Miflash detectsit but evertime i try to flash either i can't get the hello packet, or Miaccount says i have not the authorization

Hi
I can't unlock it because when i install the global stock rom it relocked the bootloader and now i can't access MIUI
First of all stay calm. Your phone is still not hard bricked. As you have said that your stock recovery is working. In stock recovery it shows that "This MIUI version cant be installed".
Firstly, try to unlock bootloader again with mi unlock with same account you have used. This time it would not take the waiting period.
before plugging the phone boot into fastboot then plug to pc.
Do the same as you have unlocked before.
I hope it works.

Nope I tried virtually everything from 9pm to 6am and 9am to 2pm. NO way to unlock through MiFLash or many exotic tools in cmd prompt .
I just send it to repair center this afternoon , my 2 cents it should'nt take long to unbrick as there are still recovery and fastboot as you mentionned and repair centers have way more firepower than we do average fellas ... At least I hope they have
I keep you tuned
As i promised, here are the news
Reparation center with notoriously skilled technicians has not managed to fix the stuff to this day. Bootloader locked, tried with my Mi account , they were trying the EDL mode as i was calling them for news.
The sad part is, I had already tried this so I wished them better luck. It's been a few days so should they have succeeded, they 'd have told me by now. In fact they are not experienced enough with those Xiaomi protection so they're investigating. For the futures unfortunate owner's

EDL mode to use an authorized account is needed ... so you could not make it work, nor its experienced technicians
And I bet that only Xiaomi has this authorization , Xiaomi who has no official repair center in EU nor never replies to anyone.....
3000 years later......
I promised to keep you tuned.
I finally unbricked it today, thanks to @miauthofficial , as the tech around home didn't have necessary tools (or skills .... i think tools ) . It cost me 35 bucks but they got it working, with a chinese rom though (because i have a chinese phone :/ ) , with teamviewer and a bunch of top specialist tools
I can tell out of experience that's there are NO ways to unbrick it on your own
So i don't have multilanguage (only english , chinese , thai , japanese and arab ), no Google apps ..... That's why it sounds weird that i had everything set up out of the box . It wasn't a Global ROM, maybe a custom chinese rom?
Now i will carefully dig out how to get it to global versions , typing text on chinese rom is a pain in the ass
Believe it or not, i just had it charged, barely had the time to remove the charge cable, the phone sets on fire then exploded almost into my hands . I have some difficulties catching my breathe bcause of the smoke.
Does Redmi 8 have Test Point ? if it have, i believe we can use it to "unbrick" the phone, like what i do to my Redmi 4X.

Assuming you are talking about EDL.
As far as I know you need authorized mi account to do something through EDL for newer devices.
Can someone use TWRP or Orange fox backup for me to have the EFS folder of Redmi 8? Thank you..

Question Mi 11 ultra Dead after upgrade to MIUI13

Hi All,
I received an update notification yesterday on my China Market device with Global ROM and I immediately downloaded the update to MIUI13. I had 60% battery when the download finished and after downloading it did an app optimization. After that, I hit the reboot button with 58% battery. The device turned off and since then the device is literally not showing any sign of life. it doesn't charge or show up in the ADB devices list. My MBP doesn't recognize USB in the devices list. What is the best option I have? From threads, it doesn't sound like a brick or EDL mode to me but should I still contact the EDL guy?
Just an update. I was using Macbook to test if the device is alive. MacBook Pro doesn't show any updates when you connect a new device. I plugged USB into a Windows machine installed on my Bootcamp, Windows recognized the device as Qualcomm 9008. Which is effectively in EDL mode. I have no idea how the device got into that mode but my assumption is that I had TWRP installed with BL open and when going from Android 11 to Android 12 via MIUI13, something called anti-rollback protection which was implemented by Xiaomi put the phone into EDL mode. Luckily, I am in the UK and got in touch with Xiaomi after sales, they agreed to repair it because the issue was caused by a software update.
Lesson Learned: Never update your phone via OTA to a newer android version without taking a proper backup. A really bad experience with Xiaomi. it cost me one day to try to fix and will be costing me some time to install everything back after the repair. I am seriously thinking to buy an iPhone now.

I dont think its about anti-rollback function
That function only affect when u try to flash from higher miui version back to lower version. It will not allow u to do that
In your case, it 's all about xiaomi software problem :| and it is unacceptable problem

Well, finally I got in touch with the EDL guy and he fixed it smoothly. I literally had to go through a lot of documents and websites to understand the problem but he fixed it in 10 minutes. I think he is using some sort of cracked miFlashTool where he interferes with the communication between the phone and Xiaomi servers and bypasses authorization issues. I think many people are having problems at that point when following the EDL operation explained on the internet. Anyways, fixed it fairly easily and cheaply.

That's very strange. Why first update led to brick
By Global eu rom you mean EEA or Xiaomi.eu ROM?
p.s. I know at least one Mi 11 ultra and one Mi 11 faced the same issue

i had to buy a cheap phone today i called costumer service they keep hanging up each time while i talk to them
my fastboot is locked and my brain 2 is locked dont know hat to do anymore
If you can get to fastboot, you can flash the original stock ROM. Plenty of instructions here and on the Xiaomi EU forums. You only need edl if you cannot get to fastboot.

You cannot flash anything in fastboot if bootloader is locked
In that case, you will need an edl flash to recover. But be careful that he doesn't leave it with an edl account permission or you won't be able to unlock without that edl account. Although I thought you could flash the original stock firmware that it came with back on with it locked.
Hi, i have same problem after try to flash Miui 13. But The MIflash tool shows error:sw path is not valid, have not found solution for this error message. How can I Get in contact with the EDl Guy.. I have a Mi 11 Pro
Reminds my about the new released Samsung galaxy S22 series, lots of problems for some weeks now_
It´s so frustrating that the update caused this. It´s now the first time for me to solve this problem. But I have so many other issues that I don´t have the time for this. I´ve read some threads where some persons have written about people who can unbrick it online. This would be right now my first choice. Could somebody help me where I can contact someone for help please.

im sending you link now who to contact and this is not spam
Hello same here - I guess flashed wrong version from EEA instead of EU of Android 11 - all went good but then I allowed OTA updates and finally update to MUI13 I had a brick.
Now I am in contact with one EDL guy but not certain he is legit. Can you send me PM for your contact?
I'm planning on purchasing this phone but things like this one makes me worried. Is there a risk to update the eu stable firmwares from fastboot with bootloader unlocked?
If you know how to do it, no risk.
