new note 9 android update - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

soooo, i have a note 8 that stupidly got updated to android 9, which i can not stand for several reasons.
samsung still carries the note 9 with android 8, so i decided i'd trade in my 8 and get the 9. get the 9, power it on and go through the process of setting it up and what the heck do i get, it starts checking for updates and automatically updates the android version to 10.
does anyone know how to force stop these auto updates from the start when getting a new phone?
all help is appreciated!!! thanks!!!

When did this device become a POS?

I'm on Android 10, latest security update, etc. I've got an unlocked Note 9 on Verizon.
Last year 'round this time I was beta testing Android 9, and I reported a few bugs. I remember two in particular:
1.) When Samsung Keyboard minimizes about the upper 10% of the keyboard remains visible at the bottom of the display
2.) Often, after text has been selected, the UI doesn't present the user with the option to copy, web search, etc.
We're a year on, and I'm still having the same problems as well as myriad others. I know Samsung is a hardware rather than a software company, but I'm staggered at how poor their support for this device is.
Can't say I have experienced the same issues you have mentioned.
What other problems have you had?
Have you tried wiping the Cache Partition in Recovery Mode?
If all else fails then I would recommend that you manually reinstall Samsung's Stock Android 10 back onto your Note 9 using Odin.

Try installing the latest OneUI 2.1 update. That fixed allot of issues with my N960N after I Installed the android 10 with OneUI 2.0

Android 10 based MIUI 11.0.1.0 is available for Redmi 8 EEA. Is it bug free?

So the update was available for a while if you're on Global and it just released for EEA devices. I honestly thought that they'll skip it and only release the 11.0.2.0 version on EEA.
If what I'm reading is correct, it was released a while ago for China and apparently some of the Global users got it too, it it supposedly more polished and it has a few bugs patched.
Can someone who downloaded the Android 10 based MIUI 11.0.1.0 and used it for a while on their Redmi 8 report how stable and polished it is? Did you encounter any bugs? Is it safe to update now or should I wait for a patch or two?
Update:
I installed it and it seems to work fine, no bugs so far and the only "issue" I found was that the Search in Settings takes a bit more time.

Miui 11.2.0 android 10 for redmi 8 Nigeria
Android 10 update on Redmi 8 Global Edition Nigeria : Review
Today I received the much awaited android 10 update on The Xiaomi Redmi 8 series and having awaited this update eagerly I was curious to explore the new fixes and features this update was to have .
Overview: the update named miui 11.2.0 global had a whopping 1.9gb as size on notification.
It took me approximately 13minutes to download it on MTN Nigeria 4g and installation was very smooth via the bootloader .
Restarting took a bit longer than normal for a first start bearing down almost to 1minute 23 seconds than the usual 50 seconds boot time I had due to first time start.
Unfortunately and much to my disappointment and anguish. This update came still based on Miui 11. I know, I know I am disappointed myself, I wanted miui 12 so bad.
Transition on miui 11 was normal and my entire set up was untouched , however I did notice that I had the gesture bar beneath the screen which I promptly disabled. This i hope is a sign we would get miui 12 soon.
There was no lag when I went through the phone also I did notice that a couple of xiaomi's native apps had been updated notably the browser.
The miui launcher for those using the default launcher on Android 9 now has the app drawer ability enabling have apps in a drawer than on default home mode, although I had this feature since installed a direct apk immediately I bought the phone..
Bugs:
Then to the bugs. The android 10 release is basically stable with probably bugs I haven't yet noticed but two bugs were immediately very obvious to me.
Battery drain: unlike in android 9 , my battery dropped drastically more in minutes than I ever experienced in this device dropping from 99 to 97 in 2 minutes on use than the usual 5, it did stabilize as the device settled and being used to custom ROMs I did expect it. I would update about the battery life as we progress.
Google assistant: by default I enabled Google assistant by long pressing my power button for .5 secs since I used gestures but it didn't work, I noticed the assistant apps was gone and downloaded from playstore but it still hasn't worked. I do love the assistant and hope the next update fixes the issue.
Verdict:
In a nutshell, if your a tester freak like me, downloading the latest update won't be a bad idea but don't just expect miui 12 as you will be disappointed.
You can delay the download till you have miui 12 avaliable which I believe won't be long enough, best guess October .
Funny side : was it me or did I think my device was a bit lighter after the update, I mean I picked up device and it felt like some weight was taken off, maybe it's my imagination.
Tell me what you think about your update in the comment section below and follow me back

I noticed a few bugs in addition that you wrote.
Icon bug: If you turn off MIUI opitmalization, then some icons in the homescreen will be bigger than the others. In Android 9, I never noticed this issue. You can easily fix it by turning back MIUI optimalization, and force stopping the System UI and the System launcher(they 'ill restart if you go back to the home screen, don't worry)
Spotify bug: Since the update If I turn on Equalizer in the settings of the spotify app, then the music will sounds like an errape
And the google assistant is working fine for me
The deitals of my Redmi 8: 64gb storage, 4GB ram
Chipset: Qualcomm SDM439 Snapdragon 439 (12 nm)
CPU: Octa-core (4x1.95 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.45 GHz Cortex A53)
GPU: Adreno 505
I wrote the last 3 rows because I don't know if there is a Mediatek/Mali version of this phone
Europan rom (Locked bootloader)
Yeah, I also noticed a few bugs that bothered me enough to downgrade back to Android 9 for now, and while I was at it I installed MIUIMIX to hopefully get a bit more battery and a bit less spyware

How to upgrade from 11 to 12 now that 13 is available

I have a Pixel 4a 5G running android 11. I've been ignoring the "upgrade to android 12" notification forever because I always had something better to do.
Now android 13 is available, but I hate being an early adopter. Is it too late for me to upgrade from 11 to 12? How would I do that?

The main purpose of updating phones is to improve the security of the system, remove bugs and make the user eagerly get rid of it in subsequent versions of android due to the gradual decline in performance.
It's never too late. Im still on 11 on my bramble. I might go to 12. Just backup your phone. And you can always reflash/downgrade if you don't like 12/13.

Should I upgrade my XZ2 from the last Pie version to Android 10?

I know there was many problems when Android 10 came out to this phone, but since then a lot of time passed, I guess there was some more updates to it. Is it worth upgrading the phone now? Is the latest 10 working just as fine, or better than the latest Pie?
Nothing wrong with Pie and security simply isn't a issue. It's the last good OS version before Gookill went insane, again.
I run two stock Samsung N10+'s, one on Android 9, the newer one on 10. The Pie variant runs best. There are over a hundred new system apps added to 10. It's a mess and 11 is even worse.
