I have the S21 Ultra through T-Mobile. Recently I updated to the newest version G998USQS4AUIR. Ever since then I have had issues with some apps not being able to connect to the internet though T-Mobiles data. I know quite a bit of tech but this stumps me. It's only a few apps. One app, Webull, will slightly work. Stock prices will update but nothing else will work. This is also a random problem. One minute everything works fine, the next minute it doesn't. Then a day later it will work again for awhile. Also, everything works perfectly when connected to Wifi. I have tried many things and even just did my last resort, reset to factory, and it still doesn't work. This issue confuses the crap out of me because it doesn't make sense. Why some apps? Why does Webull partially work? Why is it an off and on problem? Is it a phone problem or a T-Mobile problem? Did the update cause it? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
Try toggling airplane mode. If that doesn't work go into device settings, connecting, SIM card manager and disabled your SIM. Turn back on after about 10 seconds.
Hope that helps.
if you have not rebooted or cache cleared the device yet then try it, sometimes the update will face issues with the old data left behind from previous version.
If you keep having issues, try submitting error report to Samsung members after reproducing the issue. Submit 1 ticket per issue, don't group them together.
Thanks for the info. I have tried airplane mode multiple times, I don't have the sim card manager. However everything has been working fine since yesterday morning, Like I spent a week with this issue off and on constantly and now that I post on here for help, it works fine and hasn't stopped working.
If it does start having issues again, I'll try your response, TheNewGuy92.
Both of you, thanks again for your help.

Ok, So the issue popped up again today. I first tried removing the sim card and restarting to see if that would work. It did not. So then I decided to try your method of clearing the device cache. After doing so and rebooting, the issue is gone. Hopefully this fixed it for good. Thanks so much for your help.
try to reset without wiping anything.

Hi all
As the various versions taking over our phones, I notices some phenomena that also occurs with several over people I've talked to.
While trying to download Apps via market , the download doesn't start. The market does initiate the download procedure - The Download bar appears etc , but the actual download will not start even after hours of waiting.
However , by rebooting the phone or simply toggling the 3G / WIFI off and on (the same problem happens with both types of connection), the download starts immediately.
Now , at first I thought that maybe the connection is constantly failing , but all kind of automatic updates like news , weather etc are working all the time , and of course the Net surfing and market access are possible.
It seems that the restart required just for apps download.
I don't know if it's because of Apps2SD or something else , but it happens to several people I know about and with several different builds (CYanogen and JackHero are those I remember specifically )
I would be more than welcome for any kind of reply , eevn hearing that you personally have no problems with apps downloads.
Thanx
Sometimes that happens to me. I just cancel the download and restart it and it works again. A reboot helps too.
It happens to me now and then as well. I just cancel the download and try again a little later. Normally works without a reboot.
I have actually been experiencing this all day... I keep canceling the download and rebooting, but none of this has been helping. I also cleared the marked cache...
i've been experiencing this all day... i don't want to cancel my download because it's a paid app and if i cancel then restart i don't have a choice for a refund. =/
i tried toggling the wifi on and off but doesn't seem to work, gonna try rebooting, i've already been waiting for like 10 hours... lol.
I'm running the latest Cyanogen 3.9.? (the experimental one.)
Well , all this is kinda bad, but at least I know now it's not my hardware.
I tried to leave post in Developers section , but they threaten to ban me for nagging
So I guess we need more information in order to start fixing it.
2 questions for now -
1) What rom version you use (I'm mostly interested in finding someone with official rom that have the same problem, i'm using Cyanogen 3.6.8.1 myself)
2) Are you using T-Mobile or not (for example I'm using the phone in Israel , and they're not even imported to here yet)

i'm using 3.9.1 by Cyanogen on T-Mobile.
i heard toggling the wifi on and off has worked for a few people, also rebooting the phone while it's dowloading has worked for others but it hasn't worked for me all day... i've tried both and nothing. i even re-flashed my phone and still nothing. they won't even start downloading. i'm gonna try JACHeroski rom right now to see what happens. be back with the results in a bit.

I thought Google Checkout allows for refunds within 24hrs, no? I've had this issue but only when I have poor service.
i cant believe nobody has mentioned this yet.
cyanogen has FIXED this problem. the problem lies in the fact that whenever you download something, google collects anonymous usage data. a lot of the time, this process fails and causes the download to hang.
if you want to fix the problem, check this thread.

Hello fellow 2x owners.
Im experiencing the following weird problem:
After using the phone for about 24 hours suddenly my internet stops working. It still has the 3g icon but not the up and down arrows.
Setting are correct, entering new settings doesnt change a thing. Rebooting, turning data on and off, roaming.. nothing seems to work.
The only way to restore it is going back to factory defaults.
Ive done that 2 times already but the problem seems to return every single time again after a while (say 24 hours).
Do you guys have any idea what might cause it? Im using the phone for about 10 days now and its really getting annoying. Comming from a HTC Desire with the same simcard where I never experienced this problem before.
Cheers!

Had the same experience today with a "brand new" VIP changed phone. While in the train from Amersfoort to Apeldoorn I lost connection, checked the APN, did resets, flight mode etc. Eventually it worked when I rebooted while in flight mode, then turn connection back on after reboot... Hope this won't happen more often, as my previous sample (bought on 10 march) didn't show any of this.
Only difference is this one's rooted from day 1.
Hi, does the wifi work? Or... IMs, Tweets, & RSS updates? If there is an issue w/ your phone, you'll want to be clear when speaking to an CS agent. Good Luck!
I ended up finding the problem. Every setting and such was correct, but there was a faulty widget toggle that was preventing data. ended up reinstalling it and the problem was fixed!

Having the same problem
Can't get it to work regardless of how many reboots and toggles. It works after I do a factory reset, but as soon as I have used the wifi, it simply refuses to go back to mobile data once i turn the wifi off.
Really frustrating.
I tried using apndroid to disable/enable the access point. This worked really well, and I got back data connectivity. What's really weird is that the problem hasn't returned yet. I can switch between wifi/3g all I want. I don't really know what the problem was since my sim card (tdc) worked well in other phones, and other sim cards (Telia) worked well in the optimus....
Hi all,
I have been using my galaxy note n7000 for an year now. From last couple of weeks I have these following issues with my phone
Whenever I go to a roaming area, my screen flashes with a message "Refreshing SIM Data" and immediately I lose the HSPA connection. This message keeps popping up on my screen as long as I am in that roaming area. I have another phone (HTC) and it doesnt happen like that in that phone
Now this one is very scary, Sometimes when I am connected to 3g/hspa my screen flickers with bright horizontal bars and immediately loses the whole network (no net, no calls). And after a few seconds phone automatically restores the connection and everything is fine again. But may be after half a minute this happens again and phone gets switched off. When I switch on the phone again, it would have lost all battery and I am greeted with a low battery message. Wierd part is that if I charge my phone it shows the current battery level again. This thing happens probably twice or thrice a day.
third one is also weird, I can browse internet, download apps from play store, unconditionally. But if I try to update an app then things wont happen and I will get a message saying that app could not be downloaded due to an error 495. I did find this as a known issue in play store but in my case some apps get updates successfully but only some would not.
I have searched for this in whole of XDA Forums, but none of them worked. I tried clearing caches of play store etc. I even installed 2 to 3 rooted roms (both ICS and JB) but no luck. Now I am back on stock ROM but issues still persist. I also contacted network provider (Vodafone India) they seem console me by telling me that everything is fine from their end !!
Story end
2 seems to happen due to an issue with battery. Try a different battery
3. for error 495.. if you are rooted and have cwm.. then boot into recovery and do a wipe dalvik cache and try again. it usually works after that,
1. no idea about this.. i dont get any such messages.
thanks !
2. Yes, I will do so
3.I tried all these, infact wiped everything more than twice
1.
First got to applications then select plays store and clear data. Then do the same for play services. Try. If still no go the wipe dalvikcache from recovery and it works. I get this error every now and then,
I think you are running an old firmware, is that correct?
In general go to service centre and warrantee.
If you dont mind warrantee, root, make efs backup on and off the phone and pcodin a newer firmware.
If wipe and such, do only on safe kernel.
1 - I have not see that so cant help - Sorry.
2 - A lot of us are now having that problem .. and it is not particular to any ROM .. it is happening with all ICS and JB ROMS's and started only 2 - 3 weeks earlier for phones purchased more than a year ago.. am also looking for a solution on this.
3 - I have not see that so cant help - Sorry.
AW: [Q] Few issues for which I need help
1. Have you tried selecting the network manually when you are in a roaming area?
2. That's a battery issue. Maybe the battery is a bit weak and does not provide enough voltage when nearly empty. I also recommend trying another battery.
3. No clue, sorry.

hi all, thanks for your replies.
I have managed to get rid of /find out the cause of these issues,
1. This is a network specific issue and was not related to phone. It has something to do with our roaming settings in network provider. !! I called them up and spoke to their technical team, so I am expecting some resolution soon
2. Bought a new battery -- problem solved (thanks guys!)
3. This is also a network related issue. ISP was blocking certain web requests !!. I changed my sim to other network and my google play just works fine. Reported to Vodafone.
HI, I've been having Internet/DNS issues ever since the QJB update. The phone will show LTE signal but there is no data flowing and voice calls don't work (no dial tone). Webpages on the phone and connected hotspot PCs will show a DNS error. Toggling data doesn't help. Only restarting the phone will make data work again.
Multiple attempts at factory resetting, provisional resetting, updating profile/prl and flashing the QJB update in ODIN didn't help.
UPDATE: Issue seems to be related to the update. Downgrading firmware is not possible as far as I know (Odin throws an error message). I had to send the phone back to Samsung for repair (took a week), and all they did was send it back with the old software QI5. Now I'm afraid to update the software.
UPDATE2: Voice also does not work. No dial tone.

I thought it was related to the hotspot but it still happened when I was restoring apps right after a factory reset. Multiple attempts at factory resetting, updating profile/prl and flashing the QJB update in ODIN didn't help. I'm afraid getting a replacement phone won't help either.
I am beginning to think it's an app related issue but am not sure. I just did a full wipe and am slowly reinstalling my apps to test and do a process of elimination.
Ever since the update the only other issue I had was with the Samsung Gear app crashing the phone when it connected to my Gear S3 and wants to turn on WiFi while I am using the hotspot (it would make the phone unusable unless I agreed to turn off hotspot to turn on WiFi). for some reason the S3 wants to turn on WiFi even though I disabled all WiFi settings in the Gear app.
Are apps able to cause Internet/DNS problems? Has anybody had this issue? TIA

Profile update? PRL update?
Yes tried those
Experiencing the same issues after Sprint rolled out OTA update 'N950USQU2BQJB' along with slower speeds and lag in apps like YouTube and Hulu.
The most glaring difference for me has been terrible battery life since the update.
Have you noticed anything different with your battery life and on screen time that is out of the usual?
Funny you guys say that. Mine does the same after that update too. If I toggle it to air mode. When I turn it back off it will not establish any network. Will have the x and stuck searching for service. It's about every other day. Mine will show LTE and act like all is good. But no data. Done the profile prl updates. That never fixed the issue either.
Software version
N950USQU2BQJB
I am also having issues after this update. Data stalls and transactions constantly have to be refreshed to get something to load. Does anyone know how to use Odin to roll back to another update before this one?
---------- Post added at 11:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:07 PM ----------
I may have gotten somewhere by using DNS Manager to utilize openDNS.... Trying it now and waiting for longer use results but so far so good

Is there a way to ODIN back to an earlier update that won't break KNOX?
Ah, so it is related to the update. I thought I was the only one and that my phone was defective.
I tried rolling back in Odin but it gives an error. It's been stated that you can't downgrade the firmware after taking the update.
I sent it back to Samsung for repair and they sent me back a phone with the old software version N950USQU1AQI5. Way to go Samsung for not fixing the problem but covering it up. It was a hassle being without a phone for a week.
Now I know not to take the update. WiFi calling plus was nice but what's the point if your data doesn't work half the time?
I got my P40 Pro Plus yesterday, pretty flawless install of GMS on the factory .137 firmware. Google Maps is now installed and it kept shutting down, but I was able to get a longer time in between oncr to download a map of a selected area. Afterward and about three restarts of the phone later it worked. All except for voice assistance. The voices is there, as I did a test, but there are no prompts. Has anyone been able to fix this and get the prompts?

I do not have this issue, my GMap / AA voice assistance working fine.
Did you try force close your map, clear cache and data, reboot ?

Yep, a couple of times. The behavior changes, though and it's inconsistent. Right now, the app will open and function so long as I never turn wifi on. The moment wifi goes on, the app shuts off.
If you have any tips on reinstall, I'd be happy to try them out.

Yes, reinstalled numerous times, also from APKPure. I reinstalled again after clearing the data and cache and it works fine now,but still no voice assistance, which others widely report as well, including in this very forum. The recovery mode thing you posted sounds sketchy. This is a brand new phone and Google Maps is widely reported throughout the internet as having broken voice assistance.

I think I was very lucky, I got mine in early Sept which is prior to existing GMS method stopped working and near all g. apps working fine.
Fingercross my GMS will not break during firmware OTA update.
Outta nowhere it's working now, no issues. I don't get why sometimes I can't even reopen the app while on wifi to having it work perfectly.
Now to try and figure out how to fix Google Assistant.
