Hi All,
I've seen mention of Santander but not of Lloyds bypassing the root detection. After much trial and error it's quite simple and my method will bypass both Santander and Lloyds. If bypassing Santander just do the same for the Santander app as ive said to do with Lloyds.
<--Update 08/06/19-->
Having flashed a new rom and following my steps again I received the detection message again but was resolved by using the Canary build of Magisk Manager.
To get Magisk Manager Canary click the link below:
https://github.com/topjohnwu/magisk_...pp-release.apk
Once installed, open Magisk Manager and go to
settings > Update Channel > Canary
Go back to Magisk home screen and swipe down to check for updates, you'll receive an update for the canary build. Once you update follow the guides original steps below.
<--End of update-->
In Magisk Manager Settings:
Enable Magisk Hide
Enable Sytemless Host
And if the option is available select "Hide Magisk"
In Adaway:
Download my exported blacklist from:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xCBB4iVA65gJTTYqbhU1qTlghVYyAL1S/view?usp=drivesdk
Then in adaway click the 3 dots in the top right to open the menu, select "Your Lists" then press the menu button again in the top right and press "Import all lists" and select the file you downloaded.
With the urls added go back to the adaway main screen and press "Download Files and Apply ad blocking" and Reboot device. If "Download Files and Apply Ad Blocking" doesn't appear, click "check for updates" and then download them which will do the same thing.
Once your phone has restarted install the Lloyds Banking app but don't open it. Go into Magisk Manager and select Magisk Hide from the menu and tick the Lloyds Banking app. Reboot phone and Lloyds should work perfectly!
I managed to do this from researching other threads and adding my own bits in so credit due elsewhere as well, as usual you can follow this guide but do so at your own risk, i take no responsibility
This should also work for Halifax and TSB but with a different URL nice work but what happens if they fix this? No banking app again....
Also do you know how to get past Natwest?
Doesn't work for me.
Hi Steve,
This is the first time ive noticed an application that has gone to greater lengths and was relatively easy to bypass. Given how long it took to come up with this technique of connecting to a url to blacklist your device i cant see them coming up with something new anytime soon.
All that is required to bypass this new technique is to log dns requests in Adaway and with the listed urls the app connected to for the login you simply block the urls and leave 1 out. Take for example Lloyds used 3 urls, i blocked two leaving only one allowed but Lloyds couldnt connect so that url was genuinely used to login, i then knew to allow that url and focus on the other two finally figuring out it was that url i listed that was being used to connect and block my device. With the app unalee to connect to that url it cannot verify if my device is blacklisted. Its time consuming as you need to restart after each new url you blacklist but its simple to do.

Are you on the new Magisk 17.1? And after inserting the url to adaway you rebooted the device then installed lloyds then hidden it in magisk and rebooted again?

First go into the Lloyds app info (hold on Lloyds App icon and select "App Info") or you can do the same by going to "Settings > Apps > Lloyds Bank" and then select "Storage" and press "Clear Data". With all the stored information removed uninstall the Lloyds Banking app completely and reboot your device.

Awesome, works for Halifax app as well!
This also allows the Metro Bank app to run. Thanks
Could you make this to work with Digibank DBS Indonesia? I'm stuck to stock rom because of this

Natwest in UK does not prohibit rooted phones.

And, finally, after about a month of failing to access my Bank account--- success, after following all the necessary actions, I can now once again use Online Banking via the App.
Let's hope they don't make further changes that mean we can't, in the future.
Sadly it doesn't work for me.
Santander app on Oneplus 5T.
Get the solid red screen for a second or so then "Santander UK has stopped"
Is this what usually happens if the app detects root?
Cheers!

I'd expect the app to tell you that you have a rooted phone instead of crashing. I'd try clearing data again, then removing the app completely and making your you followed the instructions fully.
If you haven't Magisk 17.1 then getting this together with the latest stable manager is also recommended. For a weird reason 16.4 has issues for me after some ROM update and wouldn't pass the Safetynet check any longer (even after complete removal and magisk reinstall). However, 17.1 somehow fixed it for me.
While I'm no fully sure about Santander, uninstalling and reinstalling the app also was essential for Lloyds on my phone (just clearing data and adding + applying the blacklist still showed the rooted message).
Good luck,
This thread is amazing, good work OP!
I am having an issue unfortunately when it comes to selecting the downloaded item. I'm unable to select the file from my Downloads, slight grey hue and long holding tap does nothing. (I'm trying to import)
I've checked and in the Downloads manager the file definitely exists, I just can't seem to apply it.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I solved the issue by granting Adaway storage permissions and importing the file from my Google Drive.
Niantic, well know for creating Pokemon Go, released their new AR game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Supposedly, the approach to this game was to build upon what made PoGo great. Right now there is a new root check for this game which is completely different from Pogo. Anyone have any clue on how to run the app with a root device?
Huh, I thought I was going crazy. I've tried Hide, renaming package, removing all root-named apps... anything we can do?
I've been playing since the beta and have had no issues running the game. Just make sure you do all the normal steps. If you receive the "Device not supported" error then root or Magisk is being detected.
Hide Magisk Manager (rename)
Magisk Hide Wizards Unite
Ensure Safety net passes
Rename any and all files with "Magisk" in the name on your internal storage to something else i.e Magic.zip

Sorry meant to say rename all .zip files so if you have a Magisk.zip for flashing make sure to rename the file to something else. Magisk will download a new .zip when updating it so make sure to check your downloads folder.
I have the same issue, playing the version that was released last Friday.
Magisk Hide seems to work, but it only allows me to play for maybe 5-15 minutes and then the "device not supported" error still pops up.
Edit: Turns out I never used the option to hide Magisk Manager before Going to check if that helps.

Pretty sure you also have to do that because without magisk manager hidden they can easily detect the original package name. The fact you can play 5-15 minutes it's when they start checking for root. Also happens in pogo. If the error still happens try to clear the data of the app and the root detection should be gone for good
Magisk hide+rename magisk+no magisk related file on my device+safety net pass
Getting the error every 2-10min. I also reinstalled the game but nothing does change. PoGo has no problem.
I am also getting the same error even after magisk hide and everything else.
After a reboot it works for Quite a while but after a while it reports incompatible device again.
Same here, nothing named "magisk" on my device anymore, hide is on, still get the message every few minutes
Edit: I forgot to "Hide Magisk Manager (rename)" in the Magisk settings. Played for about an hour today and no incompatibility message! I think that fixed it.
What I did was
1) used Root Explorer and searched my system for "magisk" and renamed or deleted all results
2) hide wizards unite in Magisk Manager
3) go to Magisk Manager settings and click the option that renames the Magisk apk to a random filename

In addition to these steps, I needed to clear the magisk log in magisk manager.
I did this through the following steps,
Tap the menu icon in magisk manager,
Tap log,
Tap the magisk tab (superuser tab may be shown, it doesn't need to be cleared)
Tap the trashcan icon in the top right corner
This is on magisk manager 7.3.2 (224).
All I did was use Magisk hide to hide it from the app and then renamed Magisk in the settings
The OP should update the original post with these so others after us don't have to search for it or ask the same crap over and over.
I can play this game just fine with root and Xposed framework installed and SafetyNet passing. So long as you don't give the game permission to access storage then there isn't much of a chance that the game is scanning for anything named Magisk but I did it anyway. After following what I've quoted below I still wasn't able to play so I cleared game cache and game storage and then uninstalled the game and reinstalled. Before opening the game I made sure to hide it from Magisk.
In addition, LP is installed on my device and only with its Xposed module was I able to hide LP (package rename). I've read or been told at some point that LP can be detected as a GPS hack or similar so I took the extra step. You don't have to have Xposed at all to run WU on a rooted device but it is required to be able to hide LP.

YTV would not make WU throw a device incompatibility error. Root in some way or another is being detected by WU or you may have a device that is confirmed not supported. No extra Magisk modules, no extra tricks required.

Hello,
I’m not sure its the right thread as I don’t have a rooted phone but I didn’t found a lot of threads about the game.
But here is my question:
Do you think the google apps are absolutly necessary ?
I have a lineageOS 16 installed without gapps and can’t pass the login with facebook screen (login with google don’t work, nothing happen)
after following these exact steps it instantly gives me incompatible device:
uninstalling wizards unit
rebooting to make sure minimal data is preserved
making sure magisk is renamed to some random string
making sure nothing named "*magisk*" exists on internal storage(and I never gave permission anyways)
install wizards unite
magisk hide wizards unite
start wizards unite and log in with my account etc
Could there be anything that wizards unite checks besides this?
I have tried many times making sure I followed everything exactly, but it still doesnt work.
On my Oneplus 3 with LineageOS 16, Magisk 19.3, and GPS Joystick by The App Ninjas, I keep getting "Device Incompatible" error intermittently, i.e., every 5 to 10 minutes. I tried the following:
1. Pokemon Go works perfectly
2. Passed Safety Net (two ticks)
3. Hid the GPS Joystick app
4. Deleted whatever "magisk" named files
5. Confirmed that the game doesn't have file storage access
6. Cleared whatever logs left by Magisk
7. Removed Magisk Manager (didn't hide it)
8. Confirmed that when searching for "magisk" or "gps" in /sdcard/* there is nothing found.
9. Cleared the cache of the game
10. Did not run GPS Joystick (but it is still in /system/priv-app since it was installed via App Systemizer, and hidden by Magisk).
Any ideas?
Update: I fixed it! I have to Magisk hide both the game and the GPS Joystick app.

Tried the same over and over again. If I got time I will full wipe (also internal) and flash my ROM to see if anything from the years before is causing the problem. I'll write here if anything does change.
Hi, i have installed the magisk manager app with a different package name using the option in settings. I have now the app called "manager" that is working fine, root and all the good stuff. Problem is after each reboot of the phone the officlal magisk manager app is installed alongside the one hidden, with no prompt, i just find it there. Is there an option to avoid it?
Reboot magisk manager bug
It happens with me also , found any solution ?
No solutions? I'm having the same issue.
I've been scratching my head for weeks now this app keeps on detecting root on my device. I've previously tried canary build, but currently on 20.1 and it still detects it. App is MagiskHided, Magisk Manager repackaged, both SafetyNet basicIntegrity and ctsProfile is passed. My other banking app that also checks for root works, even the rootbeerFresh is showing all green and this app still detects root. I don't know what else to try.
Device Info:
OnePlus 6T running Evolution X rom (Android 10), I also tried on OOS pie, doesn't work as well.
Magisk 20.1
This app used to work just by MagiskHide and repackaging Magisk Manager, since the update, I think they changed something. Any help is appreciated.
I tested it right now and had no issues starting the app once added to the Hide list. OnePlus 3T, Android 9 (ArrowOS), Canary build 20302 with hidden Manager build 269.
That means Magisk can hide from the app just fine and there might be something about your specific setup that's being detected. Could be an app, could be a directory on your storage, could be the ROM itself (this is the second time lately that I've seen a user having issues with root detection on Evolution X, on a Poco F1 though. May be unrelated.).
As always, there are a lot of hiding tips available here:

I made sure that it could detect root first, so I opened it once without adding it to MagiskHide (got the same screen you showed above). And, I did not have to clear any data for the app after adding it to the list, it just started up without issue.

I have the same issue and finally found a solution for it ! Change the folder twrp name on internal storage was a trick but don't forget to hide the aplication go mobile from magisk hide then boom I can use the banking aplication on my root devices .
I'm not using any xposed so if you are on xposed try rename the folder of it usually it store on folder download on the internal if that doesn't work try to uninstal the xposed application on your mobile menu(you can instal it again after you're done with banking)
Another trick that I found latelly was I change the recovery ....any recovery besides the twrp (orangefox, pitchblack, batik etc)

Hi All,
CITI bank App is detecting root. No matter what I do, Magiskhide fails to hide CITI bank app. Tried all the basic troubleshooting.
1. Restored the Magisk app and unchecked CITI bank app from the list.(shield icon)
2. Rebooted and added CITI bank to list.
3. Changed magisk manager name(Hide the app)
4. Changed the Twrp folder name.
5. Cleared cache for CITI bank.
If anyone could possibly help, I'll be grateful.
Thanks in advance.

After August app update, Citibank is stuck on blue screen WITHOUT any notification!
Obviously it detects magisk root, and all hiding procedures failed (magisk 23.0 / no busybox installed).
Applying airfrozen (on magisk manager) fix the issue while root stays active.

just open your magisk, and enable it from there...
Same issue here on SM-N910G with crDroid custom ROM. I needed to have the "Hide the Magisk app" settting enabled in conjunction with Airfrozen. Just freezing the Magisk app wasn't enough. Note: this isn't the MagiskHide setting I'm referring to; that setting was enabled the whole time.
Steps that worked for me (Magisk 23.0) was:
1. In Magisk, add Citi to the hide list first (of course)
2. In Magisk, don't use "Hide the Magisk app". I.e. the app is listed as Magisk in the app drawer.
3. Then, install Airfrozen and grant root access (I wouldn't get the grant root access prompt unless #2 above was done)
4. Now, in Magisk, enable "Hide the Magisk app" and go through that process to rename to 'settings' or whatever.
5. Now, open up Airfrozen and select "settings" (or whatever name you used in 4). Freeze it.
6. Citi app now launches and loads the login screen
Hope that helps someone

Freeze it.
6. Citi app now launches and loads the login screen

hmm...not working for me. using MIUI here , i already disallow citibank to read my app list, and perform steps above. still detect my phone as rooted.

Try downgrading magisk to v22 and uninstalling busybox. I'm using it.
