How to fix low call volume? - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

I recently received a Pixel 4xl and really like the phone except the call volume is a lot lower than other phones I have had. I have to press it up to my ear to be able to hear the other person. The volume is already set to the max. Is there a way to make this louder? The phone is not rooted, but will root if that is what it takes to fix the volume.
Thanks!

Mine is fine with the headset, but I had a similar bug with my pixel buds and maybe it's related.
While on a call. Press the volume up button, then while the volume slider is on the screen, slide the volume down and then slide it back up. You'll notice it's much louder. You can also try pressing volume up and then slide it down with your finger on the slider, then use the buttons to turn it back up.
I only had to do this once and then in call volume was fine after that.
For some reason it got stuck in some sort of limit where the ceiling wasn't really the ceiling.
Other than that, you can try factory reset. If not that, then it could be some sort of hardware issue.

loud tone when pressing call end button

or any on screen buttons in the HTC dialer. anyone know how to get rid of it? its supppper annoying
A little more information would be helpful -
1. does this tone happen when you press a button while on a call?
2. if it does - does your other party hear it or only you?
3. what buttons does it happen on touch screen buttons or only the buttons on the front of the phone?
4. is this when you have speaker phone on or a headset or simply using the phone?
5. is it only when you hang up or any button at any time while on a call?
6. do the buttons make normal sounds when you are NOT on a call?
7. have you turned off sound on your buttons - have you at least tried this to see if it kills the problem?
Bill
when in the dialer go Menu->Options then Keypad: Off
ahh keypad tones off got rid of the annoying beep lol thanks! wish there was a way i keep the beep for the numeric keypad without the obnoxious beep that came out of the speakerphone part rather than the ear piece when backspace/ call history/ speed dial is pressed
jut realized it still makes the annoying noise when it connects to a call
i found that someone had my exact problem on a wings smartphone. they edited the registires in order to turn it off. i played arround with mine all day but no luck. here is the thread if anyone can apply it to a kaiser id be very greatful!

sound volume during conversation

i had a conversation outside, and i could almost not hear the other person. the sound is really soft.
i turned up al the volumes that i could find. are there any settings like in a smartphone to get more volume through your speaker during a conversation?
i'm having the same problem too..
Any help??
Maybe a solution (duh!!)
on my smartphone i could press the volume up and down buttons during a call. but on this phone, as soon as you start talking, the screen and buttons go in standby!
so to increase the volume, first turn on your phone, then press the volume up button.

I wish it was so easy. No the sound is at maximum but tit's still poor quality. In my opinion this device is very disappointing.
did you turn up the other sound settings as wel?
system sound for example?
Did you guys remove the default screen protector? It covered up my speaker so I couldn't hear anyone on the other line, but when I did eventually remove the protector, everything was loud and clear again!
The screen protector covers the speaker!? That's quite poor...
my bad..double posting

quite poor, what???
yes, when out of the box it has a screen cover from the factory, covering everything including the speaker.
use the up volume during the conversation. volume is ok. sound quality is great.
one of the many reviews is mentioning the "exceptional" sound quality of device.
another very common and highly recommended solution is ...."wash your eyer!" one hehehe...just joking..hehe
I have the same problem as well. The talk volume through the headset seems ok, but should go louder compared to my old htc touch. The ring volume and speakerphone volume isn't loud enough at all. I have both volume sliders up to max.
Anyone know of a reg hack to get the speaker volume louder?? I know it can be done cause I once saw it for some other wm6.1 phone, dunno which one anymore :S

Adjusting volume increments

Is anyone aware of a way to change the system volume increments when using the up/down keys on the phone or E100 remote?
The volume can be adjusted more finely with the touch screen, but this means taking the phone out and fiddling around a bit. Some are finding the lowest volume you can get with hardware buttons a tad too loud with noise canceling phones that sit in the ear canal.
Thanks
Would be VERY usefull....
I too am wondering that. I looked in the tweaks section and searched around but no concrete answer for it.
This would actually be very usefull!!!
Don't sweat it Guys.
Both default volume bubble and HTC Volume Control controls the volume in following increments: Vibrate>Silent>20>40>60>80>100. There's no other way to fine tune it.
Maybe the HTC Volume Control UI is a bit misleading, but if you tap with the stylus, you'll see and hear that every procent has 3 corresponding lines.
If you tap it, you can get it in 1 line increments, this is not a misleading UI, it adjusts the volume in 1 step increments. You may not be able to notice it with the phones speaker but you sure can with earphones.

Exactly.
If You listen to music 3bars is often too loud but 1 or 2 is perfect. So a solution for this would be very helpfull.

Also looking for a solution to this problem...
I have a touch pro2 and as you describe here the system volume can be changed 1 bar at a time with finger.
But it can also be changed 1 bar at a time pressing the volume buttons (or volume buttons on headset) IF the screen is turned OFF. If the screen is ON the buttons will move it 3 bars.
If the phone is locked then it does not matter if the screen is OFF, it will still move it 3 bars at a time. So right now I never use the lock on the phone as I need the 1 bar step size when listening to music with my headset.

KaiserTouch WM6.5 ROm - 3G Dialer Volume Issue

I am using the KaiserTouch ROM along with the 3G dialer for video calling and I am noticing issues when trying to change the volume of the call using the scroll wheel.
For example, on the highest setting, the person I call gets feedback, so I turn the dial to lower the sound, but it lowers it too drastically and I can barely hear anything.
When trying to turn the sound back up, whilst the display shows full volume, the phone is still on a low volume setting.
Sometimes I can fix it by scrolling the wheel up and down, but sometimes it ends up cutting the sound altogether and will not go up. I have to hang up, and ring back.
Anyone else experienced this on the same ROM, or WM6.5 in general?
Thanks in advance!
not sure about your exact problem.
my scroll wheel has been screwed (hardware problem) since a few months after i got my tytn2 (brand new). essentially, the scroll wheel works but "skips" a LOT. for example, in any application, i click once down and it starts scrolling up and down like it has a mind of its own.
since then, i have trained myself to use the d-pad in all situations. during a call, i just flick the scroll wheel once to bring up the in-call volume control. then i use the d-pad to get to the volume level that i want. i suggest you try the same thing, i.e. try to use the d-pad to adjust the volume after bringing up the in-call volume slider with the scroll wheel.

microphone and volume issues

i've been having issues with my phone recently. 2 seeming unlrelated problems
the volume rocker is borked. there's almost no tactile feedback to it, and its very unresponsive. when i press vol down, it pretty much turns the volume all the way down to the bottom even if i just try and tap it. and when i press up its very hard to get it to go up
the other problem is the voice control. it seems like the mic will randomly decide not to take any sound input. no one has complained that they can't hear me on phone calls, but when i try and set up voice commands or do voice texting, you can see on the screen that its not "hearing" anything.
anyone else having either of these problems?
btw, stock lollipop, not rooted
