I'm on CM 13 nightlies and loving it! The one thing that is killing me is no advanced calling. I'm often talking on the phone and using gps/maps, or trying to pull up emails while on a conversation.
It's almost a dealbreaker, but I hate to go back to stock. Is my only option to flash computerfreek-modded-stock?
i'd be so sad to leave marshmallow and this is pushing me to want a pixel (updates + volte)
Yes. Been discussed lots of times. For now, that's your only option until it gets figured out. No Verizon devices -- except Gogle Nexus and Pixel -- have custom ROMs with VoLTE/Advanced Calling/whatever you want to call it.
@iiWoodstocK says he heard Moto Victara (2014 Moto X) may have it with CM13. See here for Reddit comments making that claim. If so, that is the only Verizon-branded device (not made/sold by Google) which has that feature.
Point is, this problem is not limited to the Verizon Droid Turbo. It's not something that can easily be turned on/turned off. As we explained many, many times elsewhere, there's something also on the carrier side.
On the other hand, I've always had simultaneous data/calling on my phones, but then I don't use Verizon.
bummer, but thank you very much for the info!
Have finally found the VoLTE settings on the phone but for some reason when I activate it using. *#*#4636#*# it deactivated as soon as I leave the page. Is this because my mobile provider (3 UK) doesn't support it on the Oneplus 3t?

Do you have the volte switch in your settings ?
VoLTE is a feature that is provisioned by your carrier. Most carriers will not provision VoLTE unless they have an open policy (allows all capable devices), or if you are using a carrier-branded phone. For the second option, lots of carriers claim that it is to ensure stability and quality of service, though I suspect that's all BS they spew in an attempt to sell more of their own phones.
Anyhow, try to find out if your carrier provisions VoLTE to unlocked/unbranded phones. If not, activating the VoLTE setting within the phone will not do anything.
I'm in an AT&T HD Voice coverage area.. never been able to use it or even see if it works. The build.prop edits seem to work for some but I've never been able to get it to work at all.. Could be AT&T blocking it of course since I don't have an AT&T device really on any of my 4 lines.. All unlocked non-carrier phones.

No issues at all for me. USA TMO.
Sent from my OnePlus 3T using XDA Labs
It is toggled on under status bar together with VoWifi but no idea how to activate it. I suspect my carrier doesn't allow it yet for this phone.
I seem to now have been able to activate it by *#800# but still no joy. I'm guessing this is due to three blocking it rather than my phone.
I use the VoLTE enabler in Magisk and once I enable and restart I have no issues. Workout it I don't get HD calling and any call I make, my phone drops from LTE to H. I'm on AT&T.
OP3T on Three UK. Been using crDroid Pie recently and i'm now able to make VoLTE calls. It comes and goes though. The options are in Settings and 'Enabled'. Phone Test shows VoLTE Provisioned. VoLTE icon show up in Status Bar.
Most of the time when i make a call i still see the Signal Icon drop from '4G' to 'H', but if i repeat dial a few times it latches on to VoLTE. I'm not sure why the inconsistency, but my 4G reception is weak and prone to disappearing entirely, so maybe that's why.
Three APN settings in ROM are same as always. No special 'ims' APN or settings.
@Eggstones
Edit: The package 'org.codeauora.ims' has been mentioned a few times for throwing up a 'Device is HD capable' Notification. I assume it's updates to this package that have enabled VoLTE?
@Dirk
I can get the volte to work fine but not the WiFi calling. I'd love to get that working ok.

It's working for me. Turned off Mobile, enabled Wifi calling and had no problem making a call. I think the necessary settings have been added to the ims packages that are commonly included in Pie custom ROMs now.
What ROM are you using at the moment?

As i said, it's working on Pie ROMs. It's not going to start working for you unless you update. It's impossible to say if the same will apply when OOS Pie is released. Maybe, maybe not.

Have you used custom ROMs before? Is there something holding you back, or do you just prefer OOS?

No. I have never tried to install one. Not sure how to do it. I'm aware of various guides but haven't taken the plunge. The furthest I got was rooting some old phones.

You wouldn't need to Root. Everything else is a doddle on this phone. You might give it some thought. The obvious thing is to find out what the differences are and weigh up the pro's and cons. If Battery life is your absolute priority then OOS might be better. If wifi calling is your priority then custom ROMs are the answer. Gotta decide where you might gain, and where you might lose out.
If you decide to go for it, this is a good guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/oneplus-5-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3624877
Of course that is for the OP5 so you wouldn't use the software linked in that thread, but the principal is the same. The equivelent software for this phone is available here. The guide gets you through the important steps of unlocking Bootloader and getting TWRP on your phone. Beyond that it's easy as Pie to get a custom ROM on your phone.
Just ask if you need help. I can link you to the files you'd need.
Thank you. I might give it a go later this week
Hey all! Forgive my ignorance, it's been a long time since I've done anything with firmware on Android phones (since I flashed a custom ROM to my Motorola Droid X about 10 years ago, lol). I've been poring over these forums for a few hours now and trying to piece some information together, but I could really use a hand from some more experienced folks.
Here's my situation: I'm in the U.S. I own an AT&T SM-N950U, and a Verizon SM-N950U. The Verizon phone is no longer being used (since April of 2018). I accidentally dropped the AT&T phone and heavily damaged the screen/digitizer and chassis, and would like to go back to using the Verizon phone, but on AT&T's network. I swapped the AT&T SIM to the VZW phone, and I was surprised to see that after a reboot, the AT&T splash screen came up, and after a factory reset, acted just like a new AT&T phone. It will send and receive data, SMS, and phone calls. However, the phone is still running Oreo, and when I tried to update it through OTA or through Samsung Smart Switch, it said that the phone was up to date. A little digging in the settings shows me that the phone is still considered a VZW-branded phone (ATT/ATT/VZW), and I believe this is the reason why I'm not able to receive the OTA updates. I also noticed that I no longer get 5G service, and I'm worried that there may be other functions missing too. I've seen BlueFox721's guide on carrier switching, and decided to do a bit more research before making an attempt, but I figured I would ask some questions.
First off, my main goal is to get this VZW Note 8 to work with all intended functionality of an up-to-date AT&T Note 8, including future OTA updates, bloatware, the whole deal. Is this actually possible?
If it is possible, can it be done without tripping Knox and hindering Samsung functionality?
I've read that root isn't possible with any bootloader past v3... I'm running v4 (N950USQU4CRF3). Is root necessary to switch carriers, or is it as simple as flashing an AT&T firmware with a newer bootloader version than what I currently use?
Again, I know a lot of this information is out there, but there's just so much to comb through I thought it might be better to just ask in regards to my particular situation, in case I'm not understanding something correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I want this to be a thread for us Verizon people using custom Roms. As of right now there are several Roms that have partial support. There is one ROM I know of that has full support. Havoc os. Sky dragon, liquid remix l, Luis ROM collection has partial support. Some Roms have no support.
Some Roms don't have the ability to send/receive mms ( pictures and group texts). Some Roms can't even receive texts or calls.
If I'm not mistaken, the list is as follows:
OmniROM
Treskmod
HavocOS
AOSiP
I don't believe any of the 10/Q ROMs will work until the necessary blobs are pulled from the official OOS 10 release. Therefore, the above only applies to 9/Pie versions. I have not tested the 10 OOS port, so I can't confirm anything there.
For the ROMs with partial support (calling and texting), some users have found success with MMS by using certain messaging apps, such as QKSMS.

I didn't know aosip worked, I haven't tried Omni since I had to make a call to tier 2 support. So that call could have fixed it for me. I haven't heard of treskmod. Havoc isn't bad.
Bootleggers works great, although I did need to switch to qsms for mms to work.
I think the issue is most time picture messages are extremely low quality when received, and video messages as well if they come in at all. I'm on an old Omni build and that's how it is for me.
I'm on pie with latest Omni and QKSMS. Running smoothly on verizon. I can make /receive calls, send /receive SMS/MMS and group texts work.
Funny as **** lol. ALL pie ROMs support Verizon. Its the APNs in network settings that control MMS,sms, etc. All ROMs use your current radio/modem to access your sim and apn to access the network. If you have signal, its not the rom. To make sure your apn info is correct, google the info or call your carrier

Yes and I've read comments in various threads where people would say they had tons of difficulties getting SMS and especially MMS to work properly even on stock OOS. Many recommendations suggested you must call verizon tech support and request a tier 2 specialist.
But I also noticed a couple of posts where people said they just simply inserted their sim and everything worked. I also read one comment where the guy said just go into your verizon account settings and choose CDMAless.
My experience? I decided I definitely wanted to iron out all the kinks before flashing a rom so I inserted my sim, did the initial setup and noticed MMS not working so I logged in to my verizon account and went through settings but there was no CDMAless option. Then I called verizon tech support and requested a,tier 2. Originally it was a,tier 1 who fielded my call and when I asked him he said : "I'm basically a tier 2" (which meant I don't know jack squat)
After an hour on the phone with the clown, he finally admitted he was going to have to connect me with a real tier 2. Five minutes later I was off the phone and my MMS was working.

This isn't entirely true. Issues have probably all been ironed out now but when the op6t came out even with apns correct mms did not work. As it stands some roms receive mms with terrible quality because image is compressed to less than a mb. There was talk of special compatibility things in oos that was missing in custom roms.
Hoping to resurrect this thread with updated information regarding Android 10 based ROMs. Can anybody report about verizon issues with Android 10 ROMs on the One Plus 6t? (The reason I'm asking is because I'm currently using Lineage OS 16 on mine. SMS works with the QKSMS app, but there are recent reports in the Fajita LOS 17.1 xda thread that Verizon problems have possibly gotten worse in version LOS 17.1)
Since nobody has responded to this thread, I'll update it myself. I was previously using Lineage 16 with my Oneplus 6T on Verizon's network and my texting app was QKSMS. This combination worked well. I finally decided to update to Lineage 17.1. Unfortunately, I was not able to get MMS working (neither sending or receiving) with this version on Lineage.
But I'm happy to report that I then tried Omnirom Q and it works great! I'm still using QKSMS. However, it should be noted that the stock messaging app that comes with Omnirom also works!
Hey, not sure if anyone is still paying attention to this thread but anyone have any current roms that are working on Oneplus 6t on verizon? I read they arent updating it anymore but I would really like to keep using my phone.
I'm using Lineage 18 on my Oneplus 6t. I wouldn't call it full support, because I have to modify one config file after I update the phone. But after modifying that config file, everything works. I'm very happy with it. See this post for details on what needs to be modified:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-lineageos-18-1.4174689/page-24#post-85238717
The config file change does persist after reboots. But it won't survive an update. So it must be applied each time, after you update the ROM.
Will CR Droid work with OnePlus 9 On Verizon?
it looks like it has the right frequencies to operate on Verizon, and it will initially connect to the network on boot, but then drops off.
Any ideas here?
Hi - Mine arrived over the weekend and I put in my Verizon 5G sim card and i was able to connect to verizon data network. All things data worked.
But I can't place or receive calls as volte isn't working (my account has volte active). I don't have 5G where I live - so I'm on the LTE network.
I opened a support case with Asus this morning - they said to wait 24 to 48 hours for their engineers to review it. They originally told me to call Verizon, which Verizon told me they can't help. Verizon said Asus has to work with them to get the phone certified. I'm not sure what to do at this point except wait for Asus to reply. I will be returning it if they don't get it sorted out very quickly.
Out of the box I had data only without ability to make calls. After rooting the the phone and installing LineageOS I was able to make calls and and operate the phone on Verizon network without any issues.

Can anyone confirm this? And if so, why does LineageOS work, but not the default ROM?

I just tried it and it depends. I had the exact same symptoms:
- Data worked fine
- Texts works fine
- Calls didn't work at all
And I installed lineage 19 and then everything is normal and great. No idea why though.
EDIT: I installed lineage 19, staxisos, omnirom and all had this problem:
- Data fine, calls, fine, texts could send
- Couldn't receive texts.
After the level 2 verizon tech told me the phone was a loss I returned it. Now after doing a ton more research I found out that it might be because I simply took the sim from my old pixel 4 and popped it in. It seems you need a new sim card or you need to somehow have your line switched to be "cdma-less". Looking at these articles:
r/verizon
r/SonyXperia
OnePlus community
The guide presented on the oneplus community gives me hope I could still use this phone with verizon, but it appears to be a daunting task. If anyone has navigated the customer service and succeeded with this specific phone, I might rebuy it.
