Hi everybody.
I just noticed a strange bug which I verified and reproduced on my S10, S20 and S21 : enabling bluetooth (connected or not) reduces by more than half the speed of Wi-Fi.
Steps to reproduce :
1. Turn off bluetooth
2. Turn on wifi and connect to the router
3. Make a google speed test twice
4. Immediately turn on bluetooth
5. Make a google speed test twice
6. Compare speed tests!
Works for me every time. And you ?
Edit :
Here's a screen recorded video illustrating the potential bug :
Yes definitely a speed drop with Bluetooth on, tried using Google speed test and speed test app.

Can it be reproduced every time ? With the same speed drop ratio ?
Thanks a lot
I'm not convinced, had 380mbps for 5 tests then switched on Bluetooth, I initially had 280mbps but then subsequent tests around 380-400mbps
This issue is only with phone having Snapdragon Chipsets.

I just tested using Speedtest. I only have 200mbps from my SP. Bluetooth off it went to 220mbps very fast. Bluetooth on still peaked at 220mbps but it took a few more seconds to get there. S998U1 UI4 OTA in Florida. Just one test. Snapdragon.
Edit 2:
Second test identical to test 1.

That's interesting. I now gave more time to the test with Bluetooth on : it SOMETIMES gets to the max speed but slowly compared to Bluetooth off.
There's definitely something happening when using Wi-Fi with Bluetooth on.
I just tested with a Poco F3 and there's strictly no difference in Wi-Fi performance but all my samsung devices are impacted. I do have some older ones to be tested too ...

Morever even Windows based laptops having a Qualcomm Wifi and Bluetooth module has same issue. While Android and Windows software and hardware are way apart but as far the issue is concerned it is related to drivers for Windows but again only with Qualcomm Manufactured Wifi and Bluetooth Module.

Thanks m8, all my nexus devices are having wifi issue with anything above channel 11, really odd bug can cant get 5G working at all so no AC currently.
Such a strange little bug.
I'm having problems connecting to a Channel 11 WiFi that I don't have to its configuration. This happened since the L Developer Preview and is still there after the 5.0 release.
However, it worked perfectly fine on versions 4.4.4 and older!
A bug report is here.

Thanks, I was on the point of rolling back to 4.4.4 as I wasn't able to get wifi to work again, other than from Safe mode.
However it seems to be working now that I've shifted my channel from 13 to 8
I have the same problem here, finally i'm not the only one having this issue. Fixed after changing Wireless Channel number to 11 from 13 and i'm not sure if this is also related with Wifi drain bug.
Has no one tried:
settings put secure wifi_country_code UK
I'm not in the UK so I can't test but...
Has anyone tried the 5ghz channels? I'm testing on my Shield tablet and I can only see channels 36-44, whereas with Kitkat all the channels were accessible. I've started a thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...less-detection-lollipop-t2945899#post56965354

I'm also facing a problem with wifi on my Nexus 5 (D821) with Android 5.0.
I can't connect to my wifi repeater TP-LINK TL-WA850RE, the device says it's connected but shows that "!" sign.
I don't know if it has something to do with wifi channels, since the repeater works fine on another devices running Android 4.4.4 and Windows, PCs, etc.
Don't know if it's another wifi bug on Lollipop or what.

Nope, you are not the only one, I have the same problem. I actually did a clean install of Lollipop, it was terrible. Battery pretty much drained in about 8 hours with less than an hour of screen on time. I have reinstalled again (this time installed 4.4.4 and then doing an OTA). Lets see how that fares. Overnight, with minimal apps running I got from 97% to about 74% (7 hours) with wifi off, but in battery stats wifi is being shown as on.

Hi all,
Before I get started I will say that I just so happened to test this method out and it worked for my problem specifically so it may not be the all WiFi fixing source you are looking for. Second, I'm no developer or programmer, I simply found an old thread, tested, and wanted to share. Let's get started.
Symptoms:
My home internet is 150/150 Mbps download and upload speed. The 5 GHz network always had the full 150 download but upload would be around 5 or 6 (rarely 150) regardless if I forced the 5 GHz connection only. At work on 2.4 GHz I would have much poorer WiFi signal strength than my old OnePlus One. At home my 2.4 GHz connection was very much a hit or miss -I believe this is similar to what many others have felt and the recommended fix is to force the 2.4 GHz connection. An interesting tidbit is when I used my VPN (PIA) the upload speed jumped up to nearly full speed, which made me think this is not a hardware related issue.
Potential fix:
I dug up an old OnePlus 2 article on XDA located here (and specifically page 2): https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/fix-wifi-mm-based-roms-t3344190/page2
I took the WCNSS.zip, unzipped the WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini file and replaced the file in system\etc\wifi. Please make a backup of your original but you should also note you can easily re-install it. Also note that this requires root. After doing that I rebooted my phone and my connection speeds at home have been great. It's the weekend so I haven't tested signal strength at work but I know I can adjust the Txpower value slightly and hope it doesn't overheat.
If it matters I am also using the ElementalX kernel with the Westwood TCP congestion algorithm. I also changed the gChannelBondingMode24GHz=1 which is actually not included in Oxygen OS 4.5.5. FWIW I tried to add that line in to the original file and there was no change.
TL;DR Root required. Download OP2 WCNSS.zip from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/fix-wifi-mm-based-roms-t3344190/page2
Replace the WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini file located in system\etc\wifi. Reboot.
My last words for this post is that I don't know what effect or effects this may have but I wanted to do something about this issue on my own. Not sure if this helps anyone or not but it helped me so I thought I would share.
EDIT:
I found that changing the two values located near the bottom of the WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini file for the OP5's original data got me the same results:
TSOEnable=1 to 0 -this is the TCP Offload which seems to change large amounts of network data into smaller bits. This doesn't work for my network apparently so disabling it helped my speed.
gChannelBondingMode24GHz=1 -add this in for wideband support (ie your 2.4GHz network on 40Hz)
gEnableWoW=3 -this is "commented" out with #, so remove that and set this value to 3. This has worked for some for stability and speed.
gEnableIpTcpUdpChecksumOffload=1 *I had this value at 0 but there is no effect for me changing it to 0 so leave it at 1 (default).
Edit 2 (Aug 12): I see that Qualcomm provides the WiFi so I took the WiFi folder from an HTC U11. I still found my upload to be slow so I changed TSOEnable=0 again and so far things have been good -I changed no other values. The wpa_supplicant_overlay.conf and wpa_supplicant.conf are slightly different than the stock OnePlus 5 files so I would recommend replacing the entire folder's contents to test.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0By0BkGnCgaRUWWo2Q283STJhQ0k I uploaded it here.
OxygenOS 4.5.10 - WiFi fix seems to be fixed! There was an IPv6 issue with Snapdragon 835 (or so I was told by OnePlus).

I've spent the majority of my day trying to use the original OP5 WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini and find out what made this work for me and I think I did. I put it in my first post but the main part is I think disabling gEnableIpTcpUdpChecksumOffload and TSOEnable helped me reach my speeds. Everything has been pretty good so far in terms of speed. I walked around to each corner of my house and had twitch streams going the entire time on 2.4GHz.
On my personal home network I find that going from one AP to another results in a slow transfer rate for a little bit. I think that is the gActiveMaxChannelTime value but I can live with that.
I get close to 600 mbits on my wifi 5GHZ... i guess teh phone is working just fine!
Qualcomm released a new wifi driver recently. It's in the Revan kernel v15. I've personally never had issues with WiFi I, but I wonder if the new driver could help. Feel free to give the kernel a test drive.
I haven't had any issues, my speed are over 100 on 5GHZ network:good:

Do you mean on actual speed tests, or is that the association rate? I associate at 866Mbps but this is about the max speed I can pull on a speed test:

Hello! So I have a very strange (and annoying) wifi problem with my phone. The signal tends to drop even though it is at moderate strength... For example, I currently have a OnePlus 5t and the XZ2. However, when I walk into a room down the hall from where my router is, my OnePlus still receives a stable wifi connection (although at half speed). My XZ2 ALSO receives the same strength of wifi HOWEVER any time i perform a speed test or start a netflix video or watch youtube, the speed of the wifi on the XZ2 gradually but quickly goes down and then the wifi disconnects which leaves me on data. Autonetwork switch is turned off. This problem has become very annoying as I can no longer stream netflix in bed and I don't want to have to return this phone simply because of this very jank wifi issue. The only time I seem to be able to get a stable wifi connection is when I am in the same room as the router. Every other device in my apartment connects to the router just fine. I have tried rebooting the router and rebooting my phone.
I have also tried software repairing the phone to no avail... Maybe this is just a problem with bad hardware?
May you want to reinstall the system with the newflasher including a fullwipe.
Or may you want to use the H8266 firmware?
I use the German H8266 firmware on my h8296 without WiFi problems.

Use xperifirm from XDA
It will download the firmware for you
The newflasher from XDA will flash it for you
You only need to put the newflasher file into the firmware folder downloaded by xperifirm.
You don't need an unlocked bootloader.
And it will remove your apps, you may want to use Google backup.

I flashed the h8266 usa android 9 firmware and the problem was not fixed... Still same issue. Phone says the connection is pretty good (only one bar missing), then whenever I actually use the internet, speed diminishes and eventually loses connection from the router.
EDIT: it says for some reason the network is "disabled" on my phone
Does it happen with different Wi-Fi's?

There wasn't any problems in Oreo.

My router has a 5.0 and 2.4 ghz setting. Both are affected by this issue. The phone doesn't disconnect from other routers I've encountered but its hard to recreate the same circumstances to match the situation of my apartment.
The peculiar thing is that when scanning, the networks still show up. But, for whatever reason, after connecting and using the internet for like, 5 seconds, it would disconnect itself even though the signal is ok (not full but definitely strong enough....). After it disconnects, the network will still show up on the scan and I can reconnect for it to work for 5 more seconds.
EDIT: Also, no other phones are effected by this problem. Not even my roommate's older phone. It is only my XZ2...

Very strange... perhaps it could be an app I have installed? However, none of them should affect the wifi...
Quick update. It does appear to only happen with my router... When the wifi signal is weak on other routers, my phone stays connected. However, when it is on my specific router at home, a moderately strong signal is enough for it to drop.

I am a jealous, because I've got revision 2.
I only find the AC15 & AC18
Maybe you just try to disconnect some devices and try your phone first. The router may not handle so many connections like that.

My bad yeah it's the ac18
And yeah I've tried disconnecting devices too.
Even with the latest update as of May 2022, my new Tab A8 exhibits Wi-Fi stability issues not seen on the old Tab A7.
After leaving a connected tablet to sleep, Wi-Fi for some apps won't work and only a WiFi OFF + WiFi ON reset will restore connectivity.
Anyone else encountered this problem?
Same - it just won't stay on any network for long at all. It won't connect at all to my VirginMedia router saying 'couldn't get ip number'
Doesn't happen to me from what I've seen... Have Xfinity cable internet together with a Netgear router/modem.
Have you guys done all the system updates?
Yup, up to the latest from April. Tested on 2 devices and it's the same. Factory reset doesn't help.
I'm hoping that if not before, at least the Android 12 update will resolve this.
I just updated to Android 11 firmware update from last week - X200XXU1AVG1 - but the issue remains the same
On Build number RP1A.200720.012.X200XXU1AVC1, no updates I'm aware of. When this happens to me and I toggle wifi off and back on, no networks display. If I toggle airplane mode it they will appear again.
II'm in the USA, using an asus blue cave router.
What's everyone else using?
Anyone know what wifi chipset this tablet uses?
Got the update to Build number RP1A.200720.012.X200XXU1AVG1 it still occurs, and I'm also noticing bluetooth connection issues, both are cured by cycling airplane mode on and off.
Yeah... let's hope Android 12 includes fixes for this... really, the Tab A7 was a much better device with a nicer screen

I reported the issue via Samsung members app with a bunch of screenshots,
SM-X205 is now getting Android 12 but nothing available yet for SM-X200. Will probably take a couple more days
OK now SM-X200 also got the first Android 12 update and the results are... BAD! Still the same issue and I'm quite done with Samsung for now. Unbelievable that they do not test the basic functionality well enough. I expected some WiFi driver updates under the hood but it seems they are oblivious to the fact Tab A8 has issues.
Had the issue one time since the 15th it's not solved but less frequent at least
What I notice now is that the wifi will turn off randomly. If turned back on it reconnects but shortly thereafter bluetooth dies and cycling airplane mode is required

For the past three months, I am facing this odd situation where as soon as I turn Bluetooth on, the wifi disconnects. I have tried everything that I learned from Google and even reset my phone twice, but no solution so far. I have tried 5GHz wifi but still the same issue. I cannot use Bluetooth headphones or connect my phone to the laptop or smart watch while connected to wifi. I bought this phone in February 2022. It worked fine for a month and then this problem started. Please help.

If you haven't physically damaged your smartphone, then my guess is that you are experiencing a software (driver) problem -- in that case you have 2 options:
report this issue to Xiaomi & wait for the next MIUI release,
install (after unlocking the bootloader) a custom ROM (replacing MIUI) -- you can choose whichever you like:

a custom rom won't fix it i guarantee it , its a hardware issue . ive had the same problem with various devices over the years , phones , tables and laptops . the wifi and bluetooth signals interfere with each other . try putting your wifi on 2.4ghz bands b / g and see if it helps
I tested your issue twice just now. Connected the phone to a 5Ghz Wi-Fi then turned on the Bluetooth, after that I it paired with a sound system. The Wi-Fi never disconnected during the process. Maybe you have too many wireless devices in your area. Do more tests in a different location. Try flashing a different version of MIUI global if the issue persists.

Tried every solution, including moving Wi-Fi to 5GHz, but the problem still persists.

Surprisingly your suggested solution was spot on. I had two smartwatch apps on my phone (one for Haylou, and the other for the Mibro smartwatch). I uninstalled both, restarted my phone and turned on both bluetooth and wifi. No more disconnection issue. Now have to figure out which app is actually causing the problem. Before your reply, I posted my problem on many forums and searched google, but no effective solution till your reply. Thank you very much.

Thank you for your reply, brother. But how can you test my issue when you don't have the problem in the first place? Regardless of which network I am using (home, office, friend's house) and on which band I am (2.4 or 5.0 GHz), as soon as I turned on the Bluetooth, wifi disconnects. Swapon88's suggestion really worked. It was the smartwatch app.

Alhamdulillah, happy to hear that.
Brilliant. I was having this issue and uninstalled "da fit" app and it's fine now. Thanks
I am also facing a similar issue. When I am connected to Wifi and Bluetooth simultaneously, wifi disconnects after a few minutes and no Access points shows up in the available networks section. Wifi reconnects when bluetooth is turned off.
I dont have any smartwatch app installed.

I think it's common problem when connecting to a 5GHz Wi-Fi and using Bluetooth at the same time, it kept happening to my RN9 too

Yup, that seems to be the case. Can confirm such 'issues' happened on my moto g3, moto g5 plus, rn8 too because of interfering frequencies that causes either Bluetooth or wifi to disconnect (shortly).
