Just want to know about it. Obiviosly, the camera in 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 isn't mature, the image quality isn't good enough though focus is super fast.
bump
It's still not so good for me. Camera still performs poorly in low light conditions, I get lots for purple, blue, and red tinting still. I'm wondering if the newer 3.62 firmware will change that.

If you got colour tint issue, 95% is caused by hardware problem. You've to contact HTC to replace a new camera module for your One. Rarely can fix it only via software though there are some successful cases but they are very very rare.
I think the denoise algorithm is set too high which made image/video leak of details. Just wanna know if 4.3 fix that.
Hey XDA,
I wanted to get GCam on my note 8 since now a ported version of 6.1 with night sight is available.
However, when I take pictures, they look too bright. Almost white.
What can I do?

My gcam overexposes in bright high contrast situations, faces becomes blown out. What Gcam version is available where you can set it to constant under-exposure from -0.3 too -2compensation? Gcam is incredibly advanced this absolutely crucial setting and its weird if no one has a fix for this... Extremely frustrating! And NO, i do not want to use the HDR++ setting because the photographic moment will be gone after 3 seconds
Hi guys,
tonight i tried to take some night photos , and made me feel that i was in 2002... An iphone user was next to me and his photos where so bright an clear and mine where in total darkness... I couldnt beleive the difference...
Is it actually so bad at night? Or i did something wrong with the settings?
Thanks!
not sure about photos, but video in dark is terrible. not just in dark, indoor luminescent scenery are completely black. i tried couple of others camera apps but most of them have got the same results. also find this ridiculous.
The Samsung A40 is known for terrible low light images. If the community figures out how to get Gcam working with night mode (the full fat version and not the gcam go version) then things would improve massively as its software that has helped make some of the biggest improvements rather than hardware in the camera
Hi,
I've noticed pink spot/hue issue in the middle of photos taken by main camera my S21 Ultra (Exynos version).
I've checked that some condition must be met to recreate the problem:
- photo must be taken indoor when sunrise appear (but it should be dimm in the room not bright)
- photo taken outside when is cloudy (there is no sun)
- the light must be natural
- on gray and green (khaki) surfaces defect is more visible
Do you also have this problem?
I was send phone to service center twice:
first time camera module was replaced - unfortunately the defect remained
second time - the service stated that the phone and camera is functional
P. S. - laser AF is not a cause - I've covered up and hue still exists.
I've searched forums and found similar problem with xperia z3, htc, galaxy s5 .
I dont know if this is normal, or maybe software update will fix the problem or maybe this is hardware failure?
Really...don't know what to do anymore.
Have you tried to replicate the results using another camera app? If it looks the same, then it's not software.

Yes - hue was visible in other applications as well as in the service menu.

Definitely a hardware issue buddy... Keep trying with Samsung, print the images you showed us here and give them with the phone so they can see directly and not test it barely and not notice...
@nevellan
Good to see that you created this thread.
I've been noticing the same too from the beginning. Enquiring further, I noticed the same in two other units later. (All Exynos).
I did not /do not see the pink hue when the laser AF is covered.
However, my concern is why to have the pink hue in certain lighting condition irrespective of laser AF is covered or not! This is an issue.
... have also noticed that the pink hue disappears when focus enhancer is ON.
Pink Hue dissapers when focus enhancer is ON,becuase then is used wide camera not main (108 MP).

Try to hide the laser lens..if you still have this , it's a faulty main lens .

Not sure*.
Could be firmware.
Try:
Clearing the system cache
Clear cam data
Hard reboot.
Check cam settings; excessive contrast or saturation could cause it.
A factory reset will do nothing more than likely.
*test to see if it's purple fringing with some high contrast images ie backlit subjects

I did everything you suggested many times - it didn't help.
Covering laserfocus doesn't help either.

If you can return/exchange it do so.
No need to suffer from the get go.
Had this issue with my Galaxy S6 long ago as well. I guess it's normal?

not at all...
I'm having a similar problem with a purple patch in the middle of the shot but only when photographing black objects in less than ideal light conditions, particularly black materials. The problem exists with the main camera and wide angle, Zooms seem ok. The problem also exists using GCAM. If I force flash there is no problem. Doesn't seem to be an issue in any other circumstances. Strange. S21 U Exynos 16gb.
I ve noticed this too, but only on the gray colors. I am up to date with the software version, july patch. Exynos 256 GB.

Plus, i haven t notice this thing until seeing this thread and tried to photo something gray, so i think this is not a big deal.

Ignorance is bliss
Looks like only Exynos devices are plagued with this defect, one more reason to pass on this problematic SoC.

Observing black vertical lines on the screen when using back or front camera. These lines are also imprinted on the photos. I am attaching screenshot and a video of the issue
Anybody else running into the issue?
Pixel version - TD1A.221105.001
Camera version - 8.7.165.479933554.19

Hi, dude,
This is a normal physical effect, which is called 'Antbamding' (50 or 60Hz).
in previous versions there was an option in camera settings "Antbanding" to minimize that effect.
for more Info 'google' it!
I do not see any option in Gcam for anti-banding
I am also experiencing this, vertical bars for BOTH front and back camera. Was at restaurants in low light environment and took these, using portrait mode, night mode and normal mode.
Yes, this is the same issue I have experienced on both front and back camera in artificial lights.
Seen this during day time, indoor shoot as well as night time indoor shoot
Ok. That's 2 of us... Is this normal/expected camera processor behavior or do we have defective units??
A couple others have reported this as well. Even in few of the youtube videos comparing Pixel 7 with other smartphones, I was able to catch this on pixel 7/pro display.
I do not believe this is affecting just vanilla 7, but 7 pro as well.
I hope others chime in with their experience by shooting under different light conditions.
I had such a problem when I put on a cover. It turns out that there is a sensor between the two cameras, and my cover did not have a hole for this sensor. I had to make a hole myself. Everything is fine now. My pixel 7.

What case/cover it is?
I have the same issue...
Issue is seen even without any case/cover in my case
Workaround - Start the camera in selfie mode and after 1 second switch to back camera.
Update; i exchanged phone as it was new and replacement phone does same thing, so it is a " bad behavior". Work around is to play with the lightness bar when taking pic. Banding stops at a certain point, but what a pain..
This isn't a defect per se, it's image banding.
Likely from LED lighting.
Try decreasing the shutter speed under a 100th of a second while keeping the exposure like in pro mode.

There are no such options in Google Camera app. I see the same response being posted all over the internet for such problems (reported on Pixel 6, Pixel 6 pro etc.)

That's a normal digital camera phenomenon, not a defect. That said I can't get my N10+ to do it with LED lighting. These ones probably aren't pulse modulated though.
Use the phone's led, another led light source or incandescent lighting to back fill the shot. You need to slow the shutter speed otherwise or shoot at a higher ISO.
