I posted this on the S6 Edge thread since that's the phone I have but I feel it will get more attention here since S6 regular is more common
-------------------
So while editing the features.xml file on my phone to tweak it following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6/general/mod-csc-feature-editing-t3107056
I came across these entries (screen captures attached).
Is Carrier IQ back? for those who don't know a quick search will show you why it's something we don't want on out phones. For those more familiar with CIQ, how do we disable it?
Not on this phone
hi guys,
many of you will find the space taken by the "quick connect" and "s finder" buttons in the pulldown menu wasted.
since i already read requests on how to remove them, here is the simple way:
caution: you need to be rooted
grab a file explorer like "root explorer" and navigate to /system
create a backup of your build.prop-file
now edit the build.prop and change the line "ro.product.name=trltexx" to "ro.product.name=trltevzw". save the file and reboot your phone.
your phone will now think it is the verizon variant and hence show a different 4g-logo, but apart from that your quick menu is clean and you don't have that menu space wasted anymore.
as always, i am not responsible for whatever harm you do to your phone.
btw: you could also change the value to "trlteatt", but that will change further stuff (like boot animation) so rather go for the verizon variant.
There's also a positive side to it: When using the phone with one hand you can reach the notifications much easier.
Thanks. I changed mine from tre3gxx to tre3gvzw on my 910H and that annoying row is gone.
Oops: It didn't connect to network. So back to tre3gxx.
Is this the exynos version?
In this case you need to either write the whole string to what I have or check what other values are legit for exynos phones.

Yes it is exynos version. trltevzw didn't work too. That bar was gone but it didn't connect to network. Btw there is here is no LTE in my region.
there is no reason that this only works for the snapdragon version.
if you have a exynos version you need to find the product code of a exynos note 4 variant and provider who disables it by default and choose that.
what you basically do by changing it to treLTEVZW is tell the software that this is the verizon variant and the software will disable those menu features because that was a deal struck between samsung and verizon. so if you find a provider that has those features disabled on an exynos version you just need the product name and use it.
i tried this on my exynos version and upon reboot, i lost my IMEI, it was showed as null/null..luckily i had EFS bacup, tried restoring that but then my phone went crazy, restarting every 20 seconds, restored the original build.prop aswell, reflashing the FW from odin fixed it! Phew
Are you sure you did nothing else? The build.prop has nothing to do with your imei.
What you describe is usually result of bad modding or flashing.
The OP actually works. Make sure the permissions are rw-r-r.
N910G Note 4 Snapdragon running on latest BOE4 lollipop.
I will continue monitoring my phone if any features or functions were affected.
Thank you for the author. Good work.
Edit:
Unfortunately the feature to increase/decrease the brightness in "auto" mode disappeared. I need this function, therefore I had to revert back.
tried this on the note 4 rooted N910G running stock 5.0.1, the sfinder and connect still visible. am i missing something, does this work for lollipop?
EDIT : it worked changing to att at the end....but now i see the stupid carrier logo on the left end of notification
Does not work on 910C in Europe (Austria). Lost Network Connectivity (2G/3G/4G, everything exccept Wifi.
Any Other Solutions?
Just accomplished this
I just accomplished this task on my T-Mobile note 4 doing exactly as described above. I changed the "tmo" to "vzw" and restarted after making a back up copy of the file and placing it in the storage on the phone. I have lollipop so couldn't use xposed framework yet...

***NOTE*** the only issue with using the Verizon version is the 4GLTE symbol on the status bar changed and is always visible. But no issue to me. See the pictures I attached
Hello,
I just bought a Galaxy S10 UAE version and was reading around about what is different in this version and if its usable outside UAE. (i don't tend to create posts until I've done a good enough research)
So what i found is that there is no real different between UAE version and other versions, meaning phone will still work outside of UAE and there is no "restrictions" unlike the iphone which is missing the facetime app.
Please correct me if I'm wrong in the above.
My main concern is the forced calendar holidays and similar unwanted apps, therefor i would like to change the OS to a different region.
My questions:
-Which OS should i get from SamMobile and does that mean i have to flash my device?
-In case this was done, will i still receive OTA updates?
Thank you
I bought the GW3 watch yesterday. Unfortunately I live in Gibraltar which for some unknown reason is considered the backwater of the internet and we are blocked by both Google and Samsung - Google does not let us buy anything from Google Play, although we have found a way around that. Samsung goes a step further and we cannot even browse their store
My question is: I've seen videos on how to change the Active 2 region and I'm wondering if there is a procedure for GW3?
Until I change the region I will not be able to get any apps installed other than the ones preinstalled in the watch. BTW I also tried the SDB connect and I cannot connect to the watch even changing the port number...

I was able to connect to the watch and run the launch csc manager code but after the message lunch successful nothing pops up on the watch.
restart the watch and the PC
and try to connect.
But it looks like that the security increased in tizen 5 and the csc pop up doesn't work.

This popped up on my YouTube recommendations today. How to change regions on the GW3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsshQ1-UIoY
Note, I haven't tried this to confirm it works. That will probably be a tomorrow project
Ironrobi it works excellent. I changed my region yesterday and everything works perfectly.

Can you describe me how to do it exactly, because everything is accelerated at the branch. And if I change to the USA, or XAR, will I have a choice of my language, i.e. Polish, in the watch?
XAR code is for USA and yes if you change it you can switch the language to polish you just have to download it.

But the menu will also be in Poland?
The menu of the watch copies the language from the phone. If you go to your phone's settings -> system -> languages and input -> languages -> add/change to Polish. That should change the language on your watch as well. That works for me if I changed the language to Slovenian. Than everything on the watch is in Slovenian.

I can also confirm it works. Changed region to XAR, got the software update and blood oxygen/stress are now loaded on the watch. Unfortunately still no BP/ECG and trying to sideload through the PC still fails and no luck trying to do the non-pc method with a Huawei phone.
Will this method of changing CSC to Tizen 5.5.0.1 work?
Please note that in order to actually use Samsung Pay, you'll need to have a credit card that supports it / is supported by it. This goes back to your credit card provider supporting Samsung Pay or not. If not, you'll get stuck when Samsung Pay checks the support after entering your credit card number in Samsung Pay.
Also wondering this: Will it also work when the watch is already on BTG6? Anybody tried?

Check out the curve card. It is the card from the UK and you link your MasterCard or Visa to it.
It works with Samsung pay.
If you use the link below you will get £5 on your card.

I managed to get the BP/ECG to work from the instructions for active 2 from TechnoProz.
Just install the first and the second file, and the Samsung Health monitor will appear on your watch. Calibrate the BP and your good to go...

Can anyone help me ?, i have just bought some NFC tags to write some youtube URL, but i realized that my s10 couldn't read it, the popup just kept saying "tags may be restricted", and "no supported app for this tag" even though other phones read it nomarlly. I suppose that the Japan NFC standard may different from the rest, so it cannot read this tag, but i also not sure about it. So can any one fix it ?, thank you
