Help Please ! Unable to recieve calls from certain numbers after Nov 2021 firmware update. - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi All. Before I give you the whole story. I have a Note 9 N960U1. After the Nov 2021 update I cant recieve calls from some numbers. I have done a system flash but still same thing. And if those numbers call me from a hidden number I can see the call but with an unknown number. I have tired every thing. System reset. Delete number. Checked call forwarding, checked donot disturb and checked block list. Infact removed all numbers from block list. Still same thing.
So this first happend to my colleague at work. He came next day and won't answer my phone. At my end the call is going through, meaning I can her it ring till it goes to the voice mail but he dosent see any notification on his screen only voice mail notification if I leave him a voice mail. So at first i though he was just bullsh***ng me. Next day he came and showed me. He has the same model as me Note 9 but the exnyox version. So week before Christmas I got the notification for the system update and so I went ahead and updated my phone and my wife's. We both have the same phone and guess what now I can't receive calls from my wife. If she hides her number I can then recieve her call but with a private number or unknown number.
I posted this on redit and another person verified that they can't recieve calls from certain numbers as well after the update. I do recieve calls from some number but there is no correlation between who's number I can or can't see. Also we are all on different network providers. Also all phones are factory unlocked.
Any help would be great. Please. Thank you in advance.

If your phone depends on a carrier you may try to ask them if it's not an issue with their network and secondly if they didn't release a corrupted firmware...
If this is the case, they should propose you a procedure to downgrade your firmware till they fix the problem !

All the phones are factory unlocked. Not paired to a carrier.

Caller ID - Location

The other day I received a couple of calls from numbers I'm not familar with. When the calls came in, only the number was shown on the incoming call screen. Later I noticed in my call log that those numbers show a state in the log. Although it's only a state it is better than nothing. Why does it not show this info when the call is incoming? Is there a way to change this? I did not find any caller ID settings.

I am using a 920I on AT&T on firmware for XSP. When I get a call from a number I do not have stored it shows what state the call is coming from. I do not know of a setting to change this.

SMS and MMS don't send.

Hello, how are you? I rooted the Note 8 with the SamFailV2.5 files from [ROOT][SNAPDRAGON] SamFAIL for Galaxy Note8[V2]. The phone was a brand new out of the box unlocked SM-N950U1 and I inserted a Verizon network sim card to use the phone on my family plan. I'm able to make and receive phone calls, and receive text messages, but not send SMS or MMS.
I've tried to enter " *#5005*7672# " in the keypad, I've tried " *#*#4636#*#* " as well; one of them tells me "connection problem or invalid MMI code," and the other tries to call that number and I get an automated failed call message. I've been unable to successfully make a new APN. I can "create" a new one, but I'm unable to find it on the list after I "save" it. I tried to switch to 3g only and that made everything worse, I was unable to make or recieve calls or texts on 3g. When I switched back to 4g,3g,2g,auto I had the same problem and had to reset the network connections to be able to make and receive calls and receive text--but still not able to send texts.
I'm not sure what the issue really is, what are your thoughts? One thing that I want to try is to edit the message center number to 316540951000 for verizon, but I don't know how. Is there a console command I can enter to change it? Am I heading in the wrong direction? Please help!
I followed the root directions on post #3 it said:
" VZW Custom CSCFeatures thanks to @louforgiveno

DO NOT FLASH CSC IF YOU WANT CUSTOM FEATURES! "
So I didn't flash a Verizon csc. How do I determine which csc to use, or is that not what I need? When I ran Odin PrinceComsy.exe and tried to select the csc I saw the log say it failed and that it was the for wrong model. The other thing I'm confused about is if I need to re-root the phone with nand erase all, or if I can just flash the csc by itself. How do I access the custom features from the root directions: "VZW Custom CSCFeatures" and "DO NOT FLASH CSC IF YOU WANT CUSTOM FEATURES"? Would that have the solution to the problem?
I've gotten a new sim card and rerooted the phone since I posted the question. Calls work fine, 16Mbs download with 7Mbs upload for data, but texts are still a problem. I tried different apps. With the Verizon messaging app I'm able to send mms and sms, but the outgoing texts are delivered 5 to 6 minutes after the send button is pressed. Incoming texts are received in seconds. I can't understand why the Verizon messaging app actually gets messages to go out when default and top rated messenger apps can't, nor why it takes 5 minutes for outgoing texts to be delivered. I'm happy about this progress, but its not completely fixed.
Advanced Signal Status app will not display the advanced menu.
I would like to share that choosing option 2 after dialing *228 will make connection problems worse, it's the reason I had to get a new sim card. After the *228 changes it was impossible to connect to lte networks, calls and texts stopped working aswell. Tier 2 of Verizon tech support told me a new sim card was the only way to restore connectivity.
What information can I provide to help find a solution? Where should I ask for help about this?

I'm having the same issue. Mind if I ask how you got it working or what you ended up doing as a result? Thanks!

Verizon note 8 on AT&T Calling error!

Hey everyone,
I have a bit of a weird issue here. I have a note 8 from Verizon which everyone knows comes unlocked. I am using it on AT&T and everything works well except for one thing. For some reason when I receive phone calls from people, it shows on the screen with a + sign in front of the phone number. So if someone calls me that is in my contact book, it will not show their name since there is no + sign in my contact book. So also now in my call history if I try to call that number back it sounds like it is trying to make an international call. I have no idea what is happening. Data, texts and calls work but instead of getting a call from 9999999999 I get +9999999999.
Please help me out here, I love the phone!!
Zachary
I've read about this issue before. Googling 'incoming calls show +' gives you some leads.
In short it seems to be related to Dialling Assistance settings (note spell error, is as in settings...). I couldn't find those via the regular settings (used to be accessible via settings in Phone app), but I could via the app 'Shortcut Master (Light)' ...
Search for 'dialing' and then launch:
'com.android.phone.operator.usa.AssistedDialingActivity'. My settings (N950U1) are as per SS...
Try playing with these settings.

International Note 8 periodically not receiving calls

I have the international version of the note 8 and it periodically doesn't receive calls, or texts seem to come sometimes super late and I sometimes have to resend texts because it fails to send the first time. I've tried resetting it, factory reset, rooting and custom rom (2 different ones) and still the same issue. The calls don't show up in my missed calls but the voicemails do show up.
I have had all of the Notes from 1 up to this one, all rooted with custom roms but I can't seem to figure this out. The so not disturb is off, the caller isn't blocked, airplane mod is off, I have no idea! I'm running a T-Mobile sim and using the recommended APN and have also tried the others available. Still having the same issues, if someone can please point me in the right direction I would be so very grateful. Thanks in advance.

Does the same thing happen when you use the same SIM with other devices? If it does then there is an issue with the SIM. If it doesn't I would take your device to a Samsung Service Center and let them take a look at it.

How to change message center number

My phone started acting up yesterday anytime I tried to send a message. I keep getting the red exclamation sign and message not sent error. I have tried the Google messaging app but same issue persists. My operator told me to look at the message center number and change it. Problem is I can't find it in the message settings. I have an N950U running oreo. The option to change message center number was there in nougat message>settings>more settings>text messages.... None of the tutorials online covers how to do the above in oreo. Kindly help.
I have an unlocled carrier branded device, It runs on 7.1.1, for some unknown reason the service center number for sms got erased somehow the option to enter it is present in settings, but grayed out, a carrier employee told me that the only way to fix it is with a factory reset, but as I really dont use sms, as almost all The people Iknow, I do not intend to do a factory reset
You may try to use the automatic configuration offered by (most) providers. Through their sites usually you can get configuration SMS, which I presume also sets the message centre number.
You can take your device to the local high street retail shop and ask them to fix it for you.

On my Note 8 N950FD: Open the phone app-->tap the three buttons on top right-->Settings-->Voicemail Settings-->Voicemail number. Is that what you meant, or is there a separate "message centre" number?
Op is talking about the service number used for sending sms, voice mail number is for incoming calls not picked up, two different things

Ok that's what I thought but wasn't sure. Thanks
So in that case, I checked and am able to change it as OP described: Open the messages app-->tap the three buttons on top right-->Settings-->More Settings-->Text messages-->Message Centre. Not sure why this doesn't work for OP, but it did on my N950FD running latest version of Oreo (not greyed out or missing, I can change it). Maybe it's CSC or carrier related?
I have the same problem you have. Did you get yours figured out without shipping it off? I've been trouble shooting for ever and on the phone with str8 talk now. The n950u doesnt have message center. They even asked me to configure it.
Thanks
Thanks for the information bro
