Hello!
Please, maybe someone knows where to find unofficial LineageOS for Galaxy S20 FE 4G Exynos (r8s).
r8s have some results here: https://www.lineageoslog.com/statistics
Rgrds!
2 attempts to build it have so far been only unsuccessful. with a lack of experienced developers it's been left to keen first timers to give it a try. give it about a year and maybe things will have changed. in the meantime you can always flash a Lineage GSI rom.
Thanks for info. Hope in next year, LOS will be fully supported.
Would be really great.

Hi guys. We were discussing on our A6 group that the regular 7870 A6 gets very little love.
Mainly because it's not a very good phone. But that's why it needs more love than its getting, so that the experience of owning it doesn't suck as much xD
Well, I happened to mention that I love my S8 ROM for the J6 because it is fully featured. Even with Pie released and even with 64bit vendor, I always return to my S8+ ROM. I just love it so much.
So, I offered the opportunity to port it to the A6.
Now, there are a couple of things I need to make clear before actually doing this.
As of now, porting ROMs in Pie is a bit difficult because you can't deodex the whole firmware properly, that is why I have not really done any Pie porting.
This port would be Oreo!
Deodexing Oreo has 0 problems and I can easily try to fix problems that happen due to pop up.
So, what would be the benefits?
Imagine being able to use edge screen! Infinity wallpapers! Smart select, bixby vision, scroll capture!
Sure, you don't have the latest OS, but I think having Oreo is good enough
That being said, I do need some active testers. I don't own an A6 so porting will require somebody with the device to test.
If you are interested, leave your comment here and I will contact you when possible to try to make this a reality.
I'll leave you guys with some captures to see if it motivates you a little

A6 a little bit better because exynos base, but the siblings (A6+) far more worse because snapdragon base :silly: .
my target port very limited..only A8star, A9 2018. i have some thought also to port from s8/s9/note8/note9, but all those series must be come from china open/hongkong region (snapdragon) which could lead me to getting more problems.
after seeing that you successful porting from S8 oreo maybe i also will try from s8 hongkong region
currently i also running A9 2018 port and all bugs has been solved (from released version in here).
the feature almost same from your port but i don't have edge lighting

With a full deodex, you can port no matter the SoC. I've ported both SD and Exynos to Mediatek Sammy phone. I think in general, Samsung likes to use very general lib stuff

i don't think so...even in kernel, how it load stuffs, fstab, etc,, SD and exynos is different. maybe if to mediatek it will work as you said, but if from exy to SD or vice versa it will not work.
regarding lib probably until oreo, starting on pie seems so many changes
Will AOD work? If so I would glad to return to Oreo

Hello guys,I would like to know if the Rom is suitable for the Samsung Sm-A600FN
Complete noob
Could I flash it like stock firmware? And could I obtain camera 2 api? I have A6+ sm-a605fn, it's worth nothing to me if I can't get camera 2 api, so I am more than willing to try, except that I"m a noob and have no clue what deodex is.
Happy to help
Would it be suitable for the SM-A600T1? If so I would be more than willing to aid you in your development and test it for you.
Hello fellows!
I just wanted to create a thread like last year when we all waited impatiently for the beta.
So let's discuss right here when you think the S9 will get the beta and lets keep us always up to date right here!
Cheers!
Mehdi
Right now this is being tested on the DBT server for the S9+.
In the last couple of days there are frequently new Android 10 builds showing up. Same goes for the Korean model and the US unlocked model.
Plans are which I have from an insider source at Samsung that they are planning on releasing the stable version for the S9 in January 2020 which would be really fast for Samsung.
For the S10 and Note 10 series they want to rel EW as it in December.
My guess is we will see the S9 getting the beta around November maybe early November or so.
It's not officially stated if the S9 and S9+ or Note 9 will get a Beta program though. Would make sense as last year the S8 and Note 8 got in and even some A series phones. Maybe Samsung Discovered through last year thanks to good interest and input that with more beta programs for more devices they can fix bugs faster and release the sable version quicker.
First of all, this is not a development thread so it should NOT be in the development section.
Second, there's already a discussion thread on this topic here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/how-to/discussion-android-10-t3969015
Please search before posting and always post in the right sections.

any eta to something like lineage?
This seems so much better than a pixel 4a/OP 7t and within 100 dollars used....I am returning my pixel 4a due to the poor battery life compared to my gs8 that its replacing.
This phone seemsl like better value than the pixel 4a

Not gonna lie, I don't understand the ongoing interest in rooting/customs ROMs. The last time I rooted a phone was a Galaxy Note 2 - and then only because it had stopped receiving updates, and the custom ROM used a newer version of Android. With a new phone like the S20 FE, it just seems you stand to lose much more than you could possibly gain (e.g., Samsung pay, monthly security updates, full Android updates) - I just don't get it.

I was gonna reply yesterday that I wouldn't put a custom rom like lineage on a new phone that's still getting support. that would be moving from 99% functionality to maybe 75 - 80%.
that said I would root for things like adaway, v4a and minminguard and if the support was there I would replace the stock rom with a stripped down version with extra features like GCam. if the support was there the monthly security updates and continuing Sammy releases could be flashed just as easily as update zips. after the first 3 years all bets would be off, AOSP all the way.
I will never care about Knox, if an employer wants me to have a secure phone for work they can provide one. this phone is mine.

1. they can security patch your ****t AFTER you root, from what I understand, correct me if I'm wrong
2. Some of us like security for a number of reasons (ie travelign to autocratic countries where there is no personal privacy)
3. Far easier to have hard backups and restores of phones. I get a new phone? I just titanium restore it. Some of us don't like sharing data with the govt.
4. you ever try to pixelize and de-bloat a samsung stock phone? It's a nightmare.
a couple of days ago I saw that the FE 5G was just about to go on-sale in India, hopefully that means a few more devs may come to this forum.
I'm excited for development on this device and I thoroughly enjoy vanilla Android and custom ROMs.
I have more resources to play with typically and I can overclock or underclock my CPU/GPU for best performance and battery. Everything can be customized.
Maybe I could have gotten another device that isn't bloated but this was my only option.
If I had a test FE 5G I would start baking some things up. This is my only phone and I would be out of work without it so, no go testing on my own.
the GSI roms must be pretty close to making workable, I'm sure there'd be many happy testers available.
EDIT: a reddit user has claimed to have flashed the Havoc rom GSI. I've asked for him to share the procedure he followed. if he does that's 2 or 3 GSI roms we can use if nothing else.
EDIT2: seems he just followed guidance from the thread itself and was able to just flash the GSI via TWRP. unlocked bootloaders are a must and there are bugs, being fingerprint reader not working and no video capture @60fps
anyone here that's desperate to try another rom can flash TWRP and backup and try out any of the A/B phh Treble GSI roms. there's even phh magisk. for now it looks like this is as good as we're gonna get.
Hi,
so do you actually recommend the Asus Zenfone with LineageOS? Like if you compare it to other phones with LineageOS, is Zenfone 8 a good choice if you aim to use the Phone solely with LineageOS? Are there any major bugs, drawbacks? Is there like a list of known issues and broken functionalities?
Do you know anything about the plans for the future? I have seen that only Lineage OS 18.1 is available, is it planned to support LineageOS 19 and future versions?
When I bought my Sony Z1C a long time ago, development was very active before I got my phone, but literally just as I bought it, development stopped and I was stuck with CyanogenMod 11 (KitKat) and bugs. Huge disappointment. I want to avoid that.
Lineage 18 is almost flawless on ZF8, add gcam only
Hello. There is no custom rom for samsung s23 (sm-911b / ds)?
No, and sadly, there will unlikely ever be.
It looks like you are new to XDA, actually you should only add the "Development" tag if you are actually posting your own development, questions and discussions like this should have the "Question" tag.
Lol ... Very curious to know what come to the conclusion "and sadly, there will unlikely ever be".
The phone has been released 3 months ago, stop staying misinformation.
There is already one for the S23 ultra.

Yeah it's not certain a custom rom will never be released, but the software currently being released by OEMs (and especially Samsung IMO) is already so jam packed with features and quite well executed as well.
I once used to root every android phone I had and even flashed new roms daily as I was doing beta testing. Ever since my Pixel 5 however, this desire has been gone completely. And it appears this is the same for other users, as the user activity on XDA is only a fraction of what it used to be in the days when I was still here for Samsung Nexus S and Galaxy S4 roms.

It's really a community thing. I agree users tend to not using custom ROM anymore. And yes, it's coming mostly because Android is just becoming as almost perfect and Samsung is really doing a great job with OneUi & update on time.
But I believe users tend also to keep the same smartphone longer than before. So I guess , and if the community is still there, custom ROM could have a big place once Samsung will stop to do major update on the S23 (in four years approximately).
So let's see, this phone is awesome, and could have the perfect hardware to make it alive longer than 4 years.
The future will tell
If some people work on bringing up LineageOS on this phone please let us know. People are already working on the OnePlus 11 and Moto X40, with non-booting builds for now.
We need to join forces to bring AOSP/LineageOS to the sm8550. CAF sources are available, Samsung sources too, bootloaders can be unlocked, so there's no reason we can't achieve this.

yess samsung release their source code, but sometimes they left few broken code that couldn't be track down easily because of no version control system.
