introduction myself - Introductions

Hello everyone, I'm New here
I used to read a lot here when I was 17- 18 but I think I switched to iOs during the 2019s and I never really had my phone in the center of my occupation so I bought some MacBook & iPhone and I started to learn code. (mostly js)
I would be really happy to help users here, if I can, and discuss my new device. 2020s seems to be creditable as **** tbh, the xda lost kid became some kind of creative dev who's going back to the r00t
Thank you for everything I have read here over the last few years!

Howdy folks...

Just thought I'd introduce myself real quick like.
The names Kjell (say it like shell, but with a German accent) and currently living in Norway. I've lived most of my life in the US though. (Primarily in the south.)
I was a Nokia kind of guy, specifically the 9x series, like the 9000, 9110, e90 etc. (Owned each one at least once.) Then I switched to an old QTec (QTek?) phone a few years ago, and hated it. Went back to Nokia and just last year jumped onboard the horrible iPhone bandwagon. (It's a great phone, just, hate being tied down...)
I bought a used HTC Touch HD last week seeing how I've been eying the HD2 for a couple now. But I'm not sure how I'll like Windows on my phone again. So I'm taking it slow.
But needless to say, I'm quite happy with the HD1. It's got a great screen, it's pretty fast and I enjoy the many, many customization options.
My iPhone is being used as an MP3 player/gaming console for my little one.
I'm thinking about testing out some custom roms for the HD. Anyone got any suggestions? Maybe a rom with the possibility to change your local weather to a non HTC chosen location? (I tried doing this on my own via the XML file, but can't. I'm just not that leet lol.)
Anyways, I've said too much. Thanks for having me.

I love the people at XDA!
Thanks all for the welcome.
I've been looking at the HD roms, going to read up a little about the flashing technique first. Don't want to brick anything.
Welcome and enjoy XDA! Happy Flashing!
Well first off, Welcome to XDA.
As a starter I'd advise you to read the wiki's and stickies for your device.
If unsure about anything feel free post a query in the Q&A forum (generally for each device a Q&A thread has been created for queries) or to contact a moderator for assistance

It's been a long time....

Hello XDA, it's been a long time since I was truly active in these or any forums because life and reality provided an unintended distraction and then the pandemic. I find myself with a bit more time where I need a necessary diversion from reality and this forum has always provided this nerd with a world-wide community of nerds who really and truly know their ****. I have social networking friends that I follow, that I met through here and other technology forums that I have been friends with now for almost twenty years. I'm sure that how we met is irrelevant to many of them since we interact more about our day to day lives then the nerding out we did here in the forums. See, as a nerd, making real world friends was always difficult, but here, at XDA with my G1000 from Hitachi, one of the first-ever smart-phone, with a keyboard and a screen running Windows Mobile. I came here looking for a way to back-up my sms and call log to Microsoft Outlook and some genius had figured out a way to do it. I then had three different HTC Windows Mobile devices and XDA let me do amazing things with them.
Then, because I got suckered in to Sprint!, I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy SII Touch or something ridiculous like that and it had so many issues out if the box but 2ss an amazing device. XDA was like High School and this is where you went from teen hacker wannabe to legit 1337 skills by rooting and then installing custom roms. The addiction to that thrill of knowing that a mistake, zigging when you're supposed to zag or skipping a step, rushing and missing something could spell disaster. I dropped a phone while installing a rom and the device boot-looped hard. Not to worry, XDA was here and someone else had done something similar, there was an entire forum thread devoted to all the people who had face-planted the rooting, rom or other process and lobotomized their Android device.
I still occasionally peruse the forums, lurking and liking and once in a while, replying. I just wanted to stop by and thank you for what seems like 17 or 18 years if amazing things. By you, I mean the people who run the forums behind the scenes at all levels and the moderators that keep the law and order necessary to thrive and function and you the users who's knowledge and other contributions are why we are here in these forums, from the creators to their guinea pigs to every other lurker like me. Thanks.

Phone Repair Tech/ Hacking Advocate

Hey fellas, I have experience in the homebrew/rooting community for the last 10 years, by no means an expert, by some means; a skript kiddie. first device I rooted was a psp to give you an idea.
Recently got into repairing phones (mostly iphones with some samsung galaxies). Mostly I am here because I would like to use my device how I would like. As I buy my devices in full I don't believe this should even require hacking, yet here I am, as it does.
I'm no coder by any means, but i know just enough to be dangerous. I greatly appreciate the help this forum has provided to me over the course of lurking the last decade.

Introduction

Just paying respects to the site and everyone who make it possible for the rest of us clueless fool's I'm actually a professional mechanic at A custom shop here in Texas and I have a natural curiosity to know how things work and make em better and I've recently added android as my new victim I don't know much so far but I have learned alot of basics so far to the point of I don't need new phns every week so if I can some how help with testing or anything please feel free to ask I'd be happy to help and learn more thanks
Welcome to XDA!
Oh, that's nice. I was like 11 or 12 when I learnt about android and windows.
I guess tinkering with it kinda brought me to this point.
We always welcome people who want to learn!

Hi 👋

hello!
II's been a long journey , but I'm finally here! I've wanted to be here for quite a while, and I finally made the switch. I've got my first Android after owning a lot of phones, but all iPhones for the last 15 years. The first phone I owned was not an iPhone. It was a small phone that had snake and a space type game built in. I think it was a Nokia and it had an antennae on it. I had an awesome Samsung flip that played music unbelievably well. I had an HTC that came with a stylus. I had a sidekick and a rumour. Oh, but my first gadget was a palm pilot.
I'm here with a new zflip4. It's taking me some time getting used to it, but I'm learning. I love all the customization possible on an Android. I still don't know the difference between "themes" and "launchers" among other things, but I live that I can do so much more on an Android than an iPhone.
I posted question that I'm praying someone can answer. It involves an issue I'm having with settings-display- screensaver. I'm so confused!!
So, that's me, my phones, and why I'm here. I know I'm going to learn a lot here. Thank you for the chance to introduce myself and my zflip4 to all of you!
PS Help!!

Themes are different looks of the device, it changes the icons, color, more.
Launchers are customized versions of the stock launcher with more features added.
