I would like to have my mobile data always on on my Android.
Is there a way of forcing it permanently on?
What I need is a situation where even if the user of the phone switches the data off, it quickly switches itself back on or just refuses to switch off.
Or if there is a third party app i can use to force data on i would appreciate.
You can find this setting in the developer settings. No need for root
The one in developer mode is one that keeps Mobile data on even when WiFi is on.
But what I need is a situation where even if the data on/off toggle in settings is switched off, it would automatically switch itself on or just refuse to switch off.

Hey,
Love Tasker, like love it...but, some of the things I'd like to do, the major ones, just aren't working out....it's probably me not setting them correctly, don't know...
So I need something simple really...
- Come home, turn wifi on, connect, turn mobile data off (would prefer to turn to GSM from WCDMA Auto but not sure if you can without root...)
- Leave home, wifi off, mobile data on...simple in theory...
Have tried locale based (gps) profiles, wifi near, cell locale...to not much avail...if just swaps back and fro, doesn't know whats going on. So I'm just seeing if anyone has been able to do this easily and efficiently...
Cheers.
I recently raised this myself. Basically the issue is that Google no longer allow apps to turn WiFi on or off. As such, that kind of profile won't work.
Hi guys, I have a question and I tried to search the forums to see if anyone else had this problem, but I haven't been able to find a thread, so I apologize if this has been asked before but.... I have a Moto X on Verizon (not rooted or ROM'd) and my wifi is constantly turning itself on, even when I manually turn it off. I've tried going into advance settings to fix it there, but it still keeps turning itself back on. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone have any suggestions?
What did you do in advanced wifi settings? Try turning off Google location services or all Location services. Does wifi still turn itself on? Check for any apps that may be calling for constant location access. Are you on your home wifi and does this happen elsewhere? Do you have mobile data on?

I unclicked scanning always available and keep wifi on during sleep. If I turn off all location services, won't that also turn off my GPS? The wifi is always turning on when I'm home, but it's also happened while I was driving or at school. I don't think I have any apps installed that'd be searching for wifi on its own, but I'm not sure how to check on that for sure.
Turning off Google location services won't affect gps, navigation, etc. Turning off the main Location services does affect those things. I was just hoping it would give you insight as to what is causing the issue. If you turn Location off and wifi does turn off, it may have to do with location settings in some app. Another way would be to boot into safe mode (no other apps running) with location services on. If wifi turns off, some app may be responsible. Get Safe mode by long-pressing the Power off and choosing OK to boot into safe mode. My advanced settings in wifi are Keep wifi on during sleep - Always, wifi optimization checked, and wifi band - Auto. All other settings are off.

Wifi drain
This thread may be dead, but I thought I would try since it is similar to my issue. I have 2 XT1060s and have them both set up the same. Keep wifi on during sleep - only when plugged in. Unchecked scanning always available. Both phones have the same apps and settings. On one of my phones, the wifi will sleep just fine. On the other, the wifi shows 100% on time. I bought both phones used. The one that stays on all of the time was factory reset and set up from scratch. Problem is the one that has great battery life is pink and white, but I would prefer to use the all black one if I can get the battery life to improve. Any suggestions or troubleshooting info requests. Thanks in advance.
By default, I keep my mobile data on. When I switch Wifi on, it would override the mobile data, and when I switch Wifi off, it would resume mobile data, and this is working perfectly without needing me to manually switch mobile data on/off. I guess this is the general behavior of Android device.
However, recently I tried some apps to switch mobile data on/off, and it must be one of these apps which changed the network connectivity priority. What happen now is that when my mobile data is on, I cannot turn on Wifi (well, wifi is on, but it won't connect to any ssid, and just show Disabled), so i must manually switch the mobile data off that I can use Wifi.
This so annoying, and I have been searching for solutions but can't find any.
Since those apps I tried do not require root access, I guess i could revert to originally settings without root, but I couldn't find any options in system settings about network connectivity priority.
Experts please help!
After some more search, I found that one of these apps must have used "setNetworkPreference" to change the preference from TYPE_WIFI to TYPE_MOBILE.
Ref.
http://developer.android.com/refere...ctivityManager.html#setNetworkPreference(int)
But i'm not android programmer, i have no idea how I can reset it to default.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi,
I got an problem. Everytime when i use the mobile data and I am in the browser, everything is fine - internet connection is working, but when I have the mobile data on, and the screen is disabled (only aod) the connection to internet is interrupted and I have no acces to the internet. The intelligent mobile transfer is off, but still when the phone is on allways on display, after few minutes the connection is "off", even if the mobile data is on. I checked the connection signal, and everything is fine. Is there an system app that might be killing the internet connection? It's my first time with Huawei.
Best regards

Maybe your smart data saver is on. Search for it in the settings.

Then in app launch, have you restricted google play services ? make sure that auto launch - secondary launch - run in background is all turned on
Also make sure data saver is off, reboot and then try again.
Lastly, under More Battery Settings - make sure Stay connected when device sleeps is Turned On
Okay I changed the app launch for Google Play Services to manual and will see if it will work. @JJay666 thanks for the help.

Hello. I'm using Samsung S10e and because of the guarantee issues, I couldn't root it. I was using Tasker with my old phone without a tiny problem and now I'm stuck with this new one since some automatization doesn't work well in Bixby Routines. Is there a really simple way to toggle mobile data and WIFI? Specifically, I want mobile data off when I am home and on when WIFI disconnects.

Have you tested either the built in mobile data action, or the AutoTools secure settings mobile data action? In rare cases, you might find it works without root. In my experience, the built in action either works or it doesn't. But the AutoTools secure settings action often toggles the display (QS tile) but doesn't actually affect the radio.
In most cases, without root you would need to emulate the taps required to Google mobile data manually. That can be done through AutoInput.
Wi-Fi can be toggled typically without issue though.

Thanks for your answer. Actually, I came across wit Autoinput solution but it is hard to apply and not completely convenient in my point of view. Could you offer anything else involving Bixby routines?

Sorry, I haven't had a Samsung since the Epic 4G days [emoji4]
The only other thought I have is in developer options there is a setting "mobile data always on" you could toggle that off and mobile data should go of when connected to Wi-Fi. I have no idea if Samsung software honors that setting.
