Does anyone else have the issue where Android Auto keeps disconnecting while driving?
Google/Android doesn't seem to want to acknowledge there's an issue with their App and just suggest usb cable to try which I have, but it doesn't fix the issue.
My Audi A3's in-car entertainment firmware is up to date.

Buy and install the AAWiireless dongle. Installation is a bit frustrating but they include email tech support. I love mine. Rock solid.

Ideally, I want to make AA work as it used to, but as Google won't acknowledge the issue I might have to go down this route.
Is AAWiireless dongle available in the UK, any links to it?

So I got the Pioneer 8100NEX setup last night. After flashing OxygenOS on my phone (BlissPop wouldn't work due to the DPI issue) I am up and running with Android Auto. However, when going through the music app option all I have is Google Music. The other main app I use for tunes and general listening is TuneIn which, while installed and apparently should work, is not showing up. I searched the settings for TuneIn and didn't notice anything obvious. Is this a Pioneer setting I am going to wait for or am I missing something obvious? Thanks!
I realize this is a dusty post, but did you ever get TuneIn to appear in AA? I'm having the same issue on my Nexus 6P.
Allow me to spray some Pledge/Endust on this topic as well. I have a Moto X Pure Edition running TruPureXMM 2.6 and I just purchased a 2016 Honda Civic EX with Android Auto built-in. Everything about it works great: Maps, Hangouts, Play Music with voice search, the whole thing. EXCEPT: similar to the posters above, when touching the Audio button to see other apps, the only app listed is Google Play Music. I should also note that I have multiple Auto-compatible audio apps in addition to TuneIn Radio Pro; I also have BeyondPod, Pandora, and iHeartRadio. None of them appear. Google support is non-existent at this point, which is a little unsettling as more and more carmakers are offering stock options with Android Auto.
I'm not any kind of expert, but I'm wondering if this is a side effect of having a rooted and/or custom ROM installed. Mine is stock based for my phone but it is rooted and I see that the OP had a custom ROM as well. I don't know what you are running @monorailmedic. Any information or assistance from someone who has experienced this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Do you have any adblock app running on your phone?

Curiouser and curiouser. I will mention that I tried disabling USB Debugging and that did not have any effect.

Disabling AdAway had no effect. However, I believe I have resolved the issue.
I mentioned that I have TuneIn Radio Pro, but I did not mention that I got it through the Amazon App Store rather than Google Play. (It was a free app of the day many moons ago.) I installed the regular version of TuneIn from the Play Store and...voila, it appeared in Auto. Same thing with the other apps - I had installed them outside of Google Play, and apparently Auto doesn't like that. Reinstalling through the Play Store got me up and running.
I don't know if that scenario is also your issue @monorailmedic, but mine has been resolved this way.

I too got the Pro version from Amazon years ago when it was a freebie. I'll try downloading the version from the Play Store in the morning. I wrote to TuneIn today, so if this is the issue, it'd be swell if they provided me the key to the newer pro version via the Play Store.

In fact, I mentioned a possible block because IMHO the apps for Android Auto can't work if they aren't able to contact the Google Play store for license activation.

Interesting... Besides license validation of protected apps (which the dev controls) this is the first instance I recall hearing where sideloaded apps won't work.
Developers of AA compatible apps can't just sideload either, even just for testing. App has to go through Google Play as a special AA beta test.
Google requires that all AA compatible apps (and their updates) be tested by them and approved for not being distracting. This is part of their protection for that. Sideloaded or Amazon etc. apps can't be guaranteed to have gone through this testing. (Actually an MD5 of the APK or similar could be done, but that could be abused on rooted devices and Google prefers everything goes through Play anyway.)
So, how are you all using TuneIn? I've been immensely disappointed that there's no favorites/presets list available via AA. Nor is there even the recent stations list available. So, how in the world do you access the stations you want? The lists that are available seem really truncated and have only strange channels I've never heard of. I was able to use voice commands once but now that isn't working and one of my stations wasn't accessible that way either. So, the whole app seems to be essentially useless to me via the AA interface. Bluetooth streaming still works, but defeats the purpose and of course then there's no access to any of the other aspects of AA.

I too have the pro version from Amazon, which i got for free. In order to get it to work with Android Auto you have to install it using google play as the vendor. Same goes with other apps that you sideload
1. Install Tunein Pro from Amazon Store.
2. Save the apk installer file using es Explorer. hxxp://android.stackexchange.com/questions/75360/is-it-possible-to-backup-apk-from-an-installed-application
3. Uninstall Tunein Pro
4. Reinstall using ADB hxxps://pixplicity.com/setting-install-vendor-debug-app/
I tested it and it works
You can also "unblock" non-play store apps in AA. Open AA on your phone, then go to "information" then tap many times on the upper bar... it will reveal "developer options". Now tap on 3-dot menu and set developer mode. You should see more apps through car headunit.
Hello There,
I am looking for someone who has managed to somehow mode their Android phone to mirror the phone's screen directly to Modular Infotainment System (MIB II) of VW Passat B8 (Discovery Pro) WHILE DRIVING.
The new Passat allows to fully mirror screen only when stationary, when in motion it only allows a few certified by VW (useless) apps to work and so people cannot use for example Google Maps or Spotify while driving.
There is an external vendor navigation app available in motion - Sygic. From what I've seen there have been successful attempts to unlock mirroring in motion.
avic411.com/index.php?/topic/81179-full-screen-mirroring-working-in-mirrorlink-s6/
cnet.com/news/unlock-full-android-app-mirroring-on-your-dashboard-with-this-appradio-hack/
To conclude the hardware specs are as following:
Discover Pro (VW MIB II)
Hardware: H41
OS: QNX-6.5.0
Does anyone know something in this subject and can help?
Cheers!
You can use the Video in Motion module to hack the headunit. So you can have screen when driving.
Do you think that would also work with MirrorLink? I thaught it only unlock DVD playback. Maybe it's worth a try...
It should works fine. The module should fake the headunit about the current car speed.
There are Golf 7 / Audi A3 version modules which are MQB platform too. They should works fine with Passat B8.
Just got it worked.

buy from ebay here
Hi! Could you please try runnig GoogleMaps for example while driving, or just play around with phone menu during driving...
Sygic is oficialy certified app for MirrorLink and it works fine even in moton with or without cracks/patches/mods
Much appreciate!
Cheers!

Google Maps and Spotify not mirrorlink certificate, only Android Auto.
I know that's why I am looking a bypass to enable Mirroring of the full screen of my mobile phone while driving, not only when stationary. This is possible because I saw it working on devices such as Pioneer, but I would like to run it on VW Discover Pro

Any updates here? I am also looking to get ML working on my MIB II while driving ... :good:
on HTC / sony phones, google maps works.
here is the demo of HTC phones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0cwLQVts4U
But not in Samsung phones.
I have found a solution, presented in this Video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-1umqMJqlw
The devices are available to buy in Poland, probably can be shipped worldwide and are easy to install Plug&Play.
There is also a web page, but you have to use google translate to navigate there.
http://www.sklep.martos.com.pl/nawi...00x480-vw-polo-skoda-fabia-od-2015-p-187.html
Hope it helps anyone looking for a solution, that unfortunately can't be done only by software changes.
The video shows my car The phone in HTC One M8s. It has a great application HTC Car which has Mirrorlink certificate and is a kind of launcher. Using it, you can launch ANY application in Mirrorlink while NOT driving. But then using this app and the unlock adapater that is presented in above video you can use any application whil edriving
So you shoul dtry if HTC Car works with your phone under Mirrorlink and if yes then with this unlock adapter you can run app while driving.
If anyone is interested in unlock adapter pls contact me - I run a company and can sell it with regular invoice. And if run a company having EU VAT ID then I can sell it with no VAT charge!
I have managed to find a workaround for mirroring in Motion only for Samsung Galaxy S6 & S7.
I have put the comment in this movie showing how it works in my car.

Hi Szylton,
Your video is impressive. I have the same discover pro and s7, but when I connect the phone with mirrorlink to the radio I only get few apps avaliable. What do I have to install to get the same full screen on the discover pro?
Many thanks

Hello Chris,
Have you seen the description of the video I've posted. It's all there
You need Car Mode from Samsung Apps, and sometimes Nova Launcher also can do the difference.
Let me know if you understood whats written in the description on YT.

Simon
for me, s5 6.0.1 , this works, https://youtu.be/orR5QX3tJmg

and with lg g4, works non rooted without adjustments. best way to v.i.m. is the hardware adjustment in your v.a.g car, which will cost around 140 euros.
I want to buy a passat variant (2017) with discover media.
I have a phone with cm11 with root.
Will it work too?
Specific to VW only, All you need to do is buy OBDEleven tool an use an application specific to your car to unlock MirrorLink in Motion. No need to have something plugged into you car all the time to spoof speed to the units. They have apps for B7 and B8 with MIB2. Discover Pro and Discover. They did not have an app for my 2017 NMS Passat - but I gave them my cars information and they provided an app right away within the next couple of days.
I use in my car Blaupunkt Cape Town 945 audio/video/Navi/Bluetooth/etc system. It based on specific 4.1.1 ver of Android. It is specific because it has no Google Play Services and Play Store. So all apps can be downloaded from preinstalled Yandex Store, Amazon or ApkPure. Whats more, the unit is rooted by default.
I use Automapa as Navi program. It is very good but I have to pay annual fee for use it. So I want to switch to Navitel based on Open Source Map and it is one time cost to buy the app and have lifetime maps update.
But there is a problem with Navitel. The app is very good and cheap (the best I think for OSM maps) but when Blaupunkt goes to sleep mode (the car engine it turned off) and then I turn on car engine, Navitel rapports that "Application stopped - Wait or Close".
Automapa works properly in this case.
Is any way to workaround this problem?
I picked up a Fire 10 HD 2017 version, and followed guides here to add Google Play (and other 3 associated APK files), which works great. - I was able to installed several Google apps and other apps from the Google Play store.
However, I have hit a roadblock with YouTube TV (not regular YouTube) - Google's streaming TV service. They have a free trial if anyone wants to test this out, but I get an error screen on launch that says "We can't determine your device's location" - and I can't get it to load. All the settings for Location-Based Services are toggled on (overall and specific to the app, and all apps). I have tried with option for Google Play as a Device Administrator both checked and unchecked. Google Maps detects my location and works fine. I am not running any VPN or similar apps, so this is purely GPS based. Tried to use a fake GPS location app (and allow that in developer settings) but that didn't help.
From what I have read, others have had GPS problems - some sort of conflict between the Amazon GPS and the Google GPS expectations. Something about "AGPS" being limited in some ways on the Fire 10 HD.
Has anyone seen this issue and found a workaround or solution? Could be for a related app maybe. I was also unable to get streams to play in the Chrome browser, which would be a fine workaround, so I need something to work here. One of the main purposes of a tablet for me will be YouTube TV. Thanks - appreciate any help.
I'm having the same issue with the Hulu app and the Maps app that comes with the Fire HD 10. I installed Google Play Store and Google Maps (using the APKs like you). Google Maps didn't work at first, however after DISabling the tablet's location services and trying Google Maps again, I got a prompt for enabling current location for Google to which I clicked on yes. Now Google Maps is working!! Sadly, the generic Maps app and Hulu are still not working. Have you had any more luck?
P.S. after speaking with an Amazon tier 2 support rep, they said they are going to get in touch with a developer and get Hulu working. I'll believe it when I see it!
Hi there,
strange thing... When I say "ok Google" followed by the instruction to play some music with Play Music, Rocket Player or even Player Pro, it starts the music but sends Android Auto to the background. I have to click the icon again to restart Android Auto. Ist this a bug or a feature?
Running Auto on OnePlus 5t, Oreo. No display mirroring, using it straight on my phone.

All i can give you is possible reasons why it kicks out or gets stuck, there's more reasons but they are all
more random then these I've posted below...
---
if issue is with AA app...
hell if i know i don't use that thing, since googles latest updates (earlier this year)
killed the compatibility of using it to serve emu for HU....
for that area you'll have to await someone elses answers. sry

if issue is on HU....
Make sure your clock is set to correct time/date, and also make sure you've a correctly updated version of
google play store, and other services by goo. this is leading to numerous crashes(freezing units) this you would need to uninstall the application(s) and re-install/update, or reformat...
there was as well a strange bug, with SystemUI, that lead it to crash (search google play for that fix) ...
ofc could be just simply over-heating since manufacturers of h/w seemed to over look heat sinking or device fans
for internal cooling... these devices were not very well made for there prices... ive got a Hizpo px3/5 both needed h/w modifications.
